Chapter 1108: The Real Game
Lenny Turned and walked away as the remaining parts of the Devil king exploded into pus and blood, staining the playing board just like the others had.
With this, they had passed this stage.
The Ground opened up and a box floated out of it.
It floated towards Lenny. It was small and was just able to fit into his palm. The moment it landed, Lenny did not even need to open it, it opened up on its own.
Naturally, it was Law that was Within. This law, swarming together in the air, in luminance brown as the runes that formed it moved like it was soldiers of an army. This law looked like it had a weight to it.
It was complex, but Lenny’s eyes followed the rune movements, clearly, he was solving the rune formation within his mind.
After he was done, he did not absorb it as the Old elf thought he would.
Instead, he threw it to the ground, "Thrash!" just then, a door appeared. Folding his hand on his back, Lenny walked through it. The last remaining Centaur female following behind him with her weapon in hand like a honorable guard to a king.
The Old Elf could not believe what it had just seen. Lenny had just discarded law. Laws were practically the most valuable commanding substances in the entire universe, or at least in known creation.
Even those that were elites, beyond the Greater demon realm would kill for such power, after all, it was the foundation for the manipulation of creation.
And yet he threw it away like it was a banana peel.
Even those back at the Arena that were watching the activities within the Dungeon were surprised by this, with many demons and citizens thinking that Lenny did not know the value of the substance he had held and that was why he had been so foolish.
However, they did not know the thoughts that swarm in Lenny’s head.
Lenny was still lacking access to his memories as a result of his soul being hurt from when he landed harshing into this plane and right now it was of priority above all to him.
Of course, completing the task at hand for the reward promised was his goal. But that was not all.
lenny had gone through the door that had appeared. The old Elf was about leave too, but not before waving his hand to the Law and allowing it entre into his forehead.
he would comprehend it later on together with previous one that he had taken in.
After which he followed lenny behind.
However, when they entered the next room, to their surprise, before them stood a very familiar room.
In fact it was an exact replica of the room they had just come from.
Lenny turned to the door, but it had already closed up.
This much, he expected.
The old Elf walked up to him. once more, they were in front of a platform with A devil seated on a throne at the far end, with devils seated acting as chess pieces.
"Its the same thing again." The old Elf frowned, "however, they is something strange about it. Something I can’t put my hand on."
Lenny nodded as he looked at the devil on the throne. he pointed at it. "It is smaller than the other one."
It was true. This Devil was much smaller in size compared to the last one Lenny had fought against.
But there was more.
The malicious chaotic energy coming from the devils on the board was far lesser than the one that came from the last room. It was almost as if it was an infant version of the enemies that they had just faced.
Lenny looked closely and then he wanted to step forward. However, the Old Elf called to him.
"Wait a minute, Friend! I think I have an idea of what is going on. Let me do it instead." On saying this, he stepped forward.
This old Elf had wisdom in his eyes as he pressed the box at the corner of the room that signified the start of the game. And then he mounted the huge board.
All the devils were alerted to his presence. However, unlike one would think, he did not give permission for his body and his soul to be split apart.
Instead, he waved his hands, and seedlings fell out, landing on different parts of the board, all of which grew and twisted into huge crystal trees.
Lenny looked at this and nodded in approval. It would seem like that this old Elf that had been acting like he was timid actually had skills he had been keeping hidden all the while.
The match began, and just as Lenny had thought, these Crystal trees were anything but normal.
When it was time to attack, the branches would latch out with incredible force, instantly destroying the devils.
Surprisingly, the match did not even last ten minutes and it was over with the Old Elf having an incredible victory.
He had only lost two of his pawns and the game had ended. the Devil on the throne destroyed.
At such a time, he turned to Lenny, "Something is not right." Lenny nodded as both of them spoke at the same time, what the other one was thinking.
"It was too easy!"
They nodded at each other.
"How will you say that it felt?" Lenny asked.
"Like I was playing with a child." The Old Elf replied. Lenny nodded back at him. "I thought so too! It looked like that."
Lenny walked up to one of the corpses of the Devils. He placed a hand on it. "Satan system, make an analysis for age."
<Analyzing!>
<This Devil is biological a minute old.>
Lenny frowned at this. "How can that be? Then that would mean that they were just born when we entered the room?"
<Affirmative.>
"And what of the Devils in the previous room. I know you ran a visual analysis on them without my order."
<Of the previous room, the Devil King was Eight hundred and sixty four years old.>
Lenny frowned some more. "But that should not be possible. Time difference in this plane ensured that time went faster, but even by that standard, Clessera saw the arrival of Devils after the death of the Morningstar, and by that history, that was only seven hundred years ago. "
That would mean that the devils he had just killed were even older than the day Devils created dungeons in different planes of the universe.
But that was not possible. After all, the protocol placed within the genetic code of Devils by the Morningstar only allowed for the formation of Dungeons at the premise of his demise.
Lenny explained his findings to the old Elf and he too was puzzled by this. However, there was only one answer for such a puzzle, and these two were intelligent enough to easily figure it out.
After all, they were both highly intelligent.
"It would seem that Time operated differently within the dungeons. " The old Elf spoke up. Lenny nodded to him. "But it is more than that." he added.
"Time operates differently within the dungeons but even more so amongst different sections of the Dungeons. The one we just came from is a very old one, and this one was most likely created the moment we defeated the last one. That would mean that If we follow through with this one, we will most likely find another one similar to this one through that door." Lenny pointed at the door that had just appeared.
"A loop!" The Old Elf spoke up. "But if it is a loop, why present rewards in form of law. After all Laws are very precious."
"I don’t know, but I have a feeling that if this is a loop, then no matter how much we defeat these things, it would not be enough. We will always face adversity of this kind."
The Old Elf took the box that had been gifted containing Law. This time around, there was no need to hide as he took it. After all he had won fair and square.
Lenny followed after him, and just as they had thought, the next room was the same as the previous one. Only the devils here were a little more mature.
According to the Satan system, these devils were about four minutes old, which was exactly the same amount of them they had spent analyzing within the previous room before they had walked into this one.
The Old Elf frowned as he stroked his beards. "It would seem like your hypothesis was spot on. Which means that even if we kill these ones, we will still meet the same fate."
Lenny nodded as he suddenly took a seat on the ground, not minding the devils in the distance.
"I don’t think we are playing games here. If I am to guess, the real player is someone else, and WE are the fun material."
