Chapter 3: Chapter 3: Ruby Rose & Initiation II; Test and Teams?
Hey guys, I'm back with a new chapter! So to start off I'll put some pics down below to give you an idea of what some of the characters look like, the rest I'll leave up to your imagination to figure out based on the descriptions of them.
So here you go!
Max:
Just imagine he has hair the length of Natsu's timeskip look (when he comes back after 1 year) and his hair is flame like orange, with horns like a dragon... same with the tail. His pendant is like what koga and the others use in the first half of Saint seiya Omega (the crystals) their just different colors corresponding to their element they use.
Mist:
Basic idea with the hair just not with the rest of the outfit. See last two chapters for descriptions of what the character looks like.
Anywho since Ruby is paired with Koga I'd like to see which characters you guys want to end up together. Here's a list of options:
Weiss x Kazuma
Maxwell x Yang
Blake x Shoryu
Hon'oo x Mercury
Mist x Neptune V.
Yukikaze x Jaune
Or
Weiss x Max
Yang x Shoryu
Blake x Kazuma
Hon'oo x Jaune
Shoryu x Weiss
Max x Velvet
Yang x Kazuma
Blake x Toshirou
Hon'oo x Neptune V.
Mist x Sun W.
Or
Mist x Oscar P. (Volume 5)
Yukikaze x Yatsuhashi D.
Please leave a comment, PM me, or a review on which of these pairings you'd like to see or.. if I neglected any male or female Rwby characters that could be paired with someone.
With that said I don't own Saint Seiya or Rwby and their characters, thise belong to their creators. I only own the oc's who appear in this story.

Opening theme: Burn by Flow (Tales of Berseria)
Visuals: Main Cast introduced in the story so far (Dragonblade siblings, Ruby, Yang, and the Tokyoheim siblings) pans down from a calm sky towards Beacon where students some silhouetted fall down from the sky.
It then transitions to each character introduced so far fighting one grim, before the song picks up and they are seen fighting the grim together. The opening visual ends as the dragonblade siblings, silhouetted figures with Ruby and Yang then fight off an enemy presumably a villain before it pans back up to the sky.
Chapter 3- Ruby Rose & Initiation II: Test and Teams
We see Koga open his eyes and sit up from his spot on the floor as he stretched. He'd just woken up and was now preparing to start the day. His brother and sister followed suit but paid no attention to the conversation to their left. It seemed to be another conversation about the initiation test for beacon, so they simply tuned it out and focused on preparing themselves.
Koga had a very good feeling about today, he'd already made a friend too. Things were already looking up for him and his siblings. He was now adjusting and tying the belt to his pants before he began stretching. His elder brother and sister were doing the same as him, seemed they thought alike.
While the Dragonblade siblings got ready, they saw a few familiar faces as they walked towards the door.
"I wonder what those two are so worked up about?," Ruby asked mildly curious.
Yang shrugged.
"🤷♂️ Eh.. who knows? Anyways, you seem awfully chipper today.," Yang said shrugging.
"Yep! No more awkward small talk or "getting-to-know-you" stuff. Today, I get to let my sweetheart do the talking.", Ruby said as she stroked her weapon.
"That's great and all, just remember you two won't be the only ones taking this test Ruby.," A voice said.
Turning to the voice, Ruby and Yang saw that the teens they met yesterday walked up to them.
"Oh, K-Koga san. Good morning!," Ruby said a little nervous.
The crimson haired teen just smiled at the girl before greeting the sisters.
"And a good morning to you too, Ruby, Yang., " Koga replied.
Yang slyly smirks as she continues her thought.
"😏Your boyfriend here, is right Rubes. You'll need to meet new people and learn how to properly work together.," Yang said smirking at her sister.
Ruby blushed at what her sister was implying.
"Y-yang, it.. it isn't like that!," Ruby said with her cheeks flushed red.
"😏hm... you sure about that, Rubes?," Yang asked teasing her sister.
"Yes, I'm sure! And you sound just like dad, ugh! What does meeting new people have to do with fighting monsters anyways? And secondly... I don't need anyone to help me grow up; I drink milk!," Ruby said quickly sighing and shoving her weapon into her locker in frustration.
"Not to be "that person", Ruby, but what about when we form teams?," Mist asked.
"Uh... um... I could always just join Yang's team.. or.. the team you guys are on.," Ruby said nervously.
Yang brings her hair around her shoulder while stroking it as she talks.
"Maybe.. you should, I dunno.. try being on someone else's team?," Yang suggested offhandedly.
"My dear sister, Yang, are you suggesting that you don't want to be on a team with me?," Ruby replied nervously laughing.
"What? No! Of course not! I thought it would just help you.. ya know... break out of your shell!," Yang said waving her hands frantically.
"Why not be on a team with Koga, Max , or mist? I'm sure they could help you.," Yang suggested.
"I could but...I don't think it would be the same. You and I know each other much better. There's more familiarity.," Ruby answered.
"She does have a point there, Yang.," Hon'oo replied.
"While we would be more than happy to have Ruby on our team, we're not as familiar with her fighting style as you are. It.. would be a little bit of a mismatch.," Max suggested.
"That's true.. huh, guess i never thought of it that way.," Yang said.
"What the heck?! I don't need to break out of my shell! That's absolutely..," Ruby answered just as Jaune passed by them.
"Ridiculous! There's no way i put my gear in locker 636! That's all the way on the otherside of the school.," Jaune said complaining.
He passed by Pyrrha and Weiss as they continue to talk.
"So.. Pyrrha, have you given any thought to who you would like to be on a team with? I'm quite certain everyone would be beside themselves if they were to join up with such a strong, well known individual like yourself.," Weiss pointed out.
"Hm... well, I'm not quite sure. I was planning to just let the chips fall where they may.," She replied.
"Oh, well.. I was thinking maybe we could be on a team together?," Weiss said half in question.
Pyrrha smiled at the girl.
"Well, that sounds grand!," The red head said.
"Great!, " Weiss said excited.
The background then disappeared into a thundercloud as Weiss adopts a manaic smile and a scheming pose in her head.
"This will be perfect! The smartest girl in class combined with the strongest girl in class! Together we will be unstoppable! I can see it now! We'll be popular! We'll be celebrities! We'll get perfect grades! Nothing can come between us now!," Weiss thought to herself excited but with a bit of an evil look on her face.
A certain Blonde then comes in between the two girls, interrupting Weiss's train of wicked thought.
"You know what else is great? Me. Jaune Arc. Nice to meet you.," The boy greeted.
Weiss became irritated at him for this.
"Ugh, you again?," Weiss asked annoyed.
Pyrrha then pops into the scene quickly to let herself be seen again.
"Nice to meet you, Jaune!," The ginger said smiling and waving.
Jaune, uninterested in Pyrrha at the moment, pushes her aside lightly as he talks to Weiss while posing slightly.
"So, Weiss, couldn't help but overhear your fondness of me the other day.," Jaune said.
Weiss felt her eyes subtly roll at this.
"Oh, you've got to be kidding me!," She said almost at her wits end.
" Ah, you don't need to be so embarrassed! I've been hearing rumors about teams being formed, I was thinking you and me would make a pretty good one. So, what do ya say, snow angel?," Jaune asked.
Pyrrha then speaks up, gaining Jaune's attention.
"Actually... I think the teams are already set to include four members each..," Pyrrha said before Jaune cut her off.
The blonde advanced towards his new target with a confident grin on his face.
"You don't say... Well hot stuff, if you play your cards right, maybe you could end up on the winning team.," Jaune said.
Weiss then appeared between the two, separating them to giving Pyrrha some breathing room.
"Jaune, is it? Do you have any idea who you're talking to?," Weiss asked.
Jaune had no idea why Weiss sounded so angry, just answered honestly.
"Not in the slightest, Snow Angel.," Jaune replied.
"This Pyrrha.," Weiss said.
The red headed girl just waved with a smile.
"Hello again!," Pyrrha said waving to jaune.
Weiss continued.
"Pyrrha graduated at the top of her class at Sanctum!," Weiss pointed out.
Jaune raised a confused eyebrow at this, he'd never heard of such a place before.
"Never heard of it?," Jaune said confused.
Weiss the scoffed as she continued.
"She's won every Mistral Region Tournament for 4 years in a row! A new record!," Weiss said.
Jaune was still confused.
"The what?," He asked confused as to what Weiss was talking about.
Weiss then waves her arms in anger at this, not believing that Jaune had never even heard of Pyrrha before.
"She's on the front of every Pumpkin Pete's Marshmallow Flakes cereal box!," Weiss said angered.
Jaune's eyes widen as he gasps in surprise.
"That's you?!," He asked surprised.
The design of the cereal box in question is shown with Pyrrha's smiling face on it.
" But they only to that for star athletes and cartoon characters!," Jaune said in realization.
Pyrrha rubs her other arm in slight embarrassment as she speaks up.
"Yeah.. It was pretty cool. Sadly, the cereal isn't very good for you.," Pyrrha replied.
Weiss is shown as the cereal box is seen to be crumbling behind them in the transition.
"So, after hearing all that, do you really think you're in a position to ask her to be on your team?," Weiss asked with her hands on her hips.
Jaune looked down in sadness.
"I.. guess not.. Sorry...," He said hanging his head.
Pyrrha then spoke up.
"Actually, Jaune, I think you'd make a great leader!," Pyrrha said.
This seemed to do the trick as Jaune immediately gained his smile again and waved off the compliment.
"D'oh stop it!," Jaune said brightened up again.
Pyrrha was just happy Jaune didn't look so down anymore. She only had just met him, but it didn't seem right for him to be so down.
Weiss spoke up as she was rather annoyed at how Jaune was acting now.
"Yes, seriously stop it. This type of behavior shouldn't be encouraged!," Weiss said annoyed.
Jaune had what he thought was a smart reply to that as he spoke up.
"It sounds like Pyrrha's on board for Team Jaune. Spots are filling up quick! Now, I'm not supposed to do this, but maybe I could pull some strings, find a place for you. What do you say?," Jaune replied.
Weiss noticed Jaune was closer then she would like to her and looked to Pyrrha for help.
"All right, that's a bit too close! Pyrrha, a little help, please?!," Weiss said putting her hand briefly in front of her face before retracting it.
Jaune looks back just in time to see Miló (Pyrrha's Spear) strike him, sending the would-be leader flying off the screen.
"Oh, I'm sorry!," Pyrrha apologized as she realized what she just did without thinking.
An announcement then plays on the intercom system.
"Would all first-year students please report to Beacon Cliff for initiation? Again, all first-year students report to Beacon Cliff immediately.," Glynda's voice spoke over the intercom speakers.
Weiss passes Jaune as he hangs from the wall of a locker on her way out. Pyrrha follows her, grabbing her spear and dropping Jaune to the ground.
"It was nice meeting you!," Pyrrha said as she walked past him.
Jaune was seen slumping against his locker in defeat and confusion.
"Likewise...," He said sighing.
Max, Mist, Koga, Hon'oo and Shoryu then came over to him. Hon'oo reaching a hand out towards him just as Ruby and Yang joined the group of faunus teens.
"Having a bit of trouble there, lady killer?," Hon'oo asked.
Jaune accepted the hand as he was helped to his feet before he spoke.
" I don't understand. My dad said all women look for is confidence! Where did I go wrong?," He said puzzled.
" Well.. "Snow Angel" probably wasn't the best start.," Yang said.
"We'd better get going.," Koga said.
The other teens nodded in agreement.
"Yeah. I don't wanna think about what would happen if we were late to the Initiation test.," Mist added.
The teens then walk out of the locker room with Ruby supporting Jaune and his damaged self esteem.
Time Skip: Beacon Cliffs....
The scene opens to the Beacon Cliff, overlooking a forest, where several students... some old, some new, and some unseen... are standing on silver tiles in front of a mug-holding Professor Ozpin and Glynda with her tablet.
The Dragonblade siblings, the Tokyoheim twins, and the Xiao Long sisters listen intently to what Ozpin has to say. The other students did as well, notably some other faunus that appeared to be similar in nature to the faunus friends Ruby and Yang had interacted with were there as well. Each of the students paid close attention to what the headmaster said.
"For years, you have trained to become warriors, and today, your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest.," Ozpin said.
Glynda then spoke next. She predicted what the students were thinking about as she addressed them.
"Now, I'm sure many of you have heard rumors about the assignment of "teams." Well, allow us to put an end to your confusion. Each of you will be given teammates... today.," Glynda explained.
Ruby then became concerned and a little anxious at this revelation.
"What? Ohhh...," Ruby said a little surprised.
Ozpin then spoke to address the issue in which he believed the students to be most concerned with.
"These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time here at Beacon. So it is in your best interest to be paired with someone with whom you can work well.," He said.
Ruby groans at this news, that... wasn't what she wanted to hear. She frantically started looking around to see who she could pair up with.
"That being said... the first person you make eye contact with after you land, will be your partner for the next 4 years.," Ozpin said.
Ruby's shocked expression mirrors glass cracking and then shattering as soon as those words were uttered.
"Whaaaat?!," Ruby thought shocked.
A girl with orange hair and turquoise eyes then turns to the boy next to her.
"See, Ren, I told you!," She said.
Ozpin then spoke again, gaining the attention of the students.
"After you all have partnered up, make your way towards the northern edge of the forest. You will meet oppostion on the way there. Don't hesitate to destroy anything in your path, or you will die.," Ozpin said.
With Ruby still freaking out, Koga whispers to her.
"Calm down, Ruby. It'll be okay, just take a deep breath... and relax. You'll feel better.," Koga said to the girl.
Ruby did as the boy asked and took a deep breath in before slowly exhaling. She felt... calm now. It was weird, but.. what Koga suggested really did work. The girl felt much calmer now for some reason that she couldn't explain. Maybe it was because she knew Koga would be nearby to help should anything happen. She refocused on her task, now much calmer and more relaxed.
Max nodded towards Mist, who did the same towards the Tokyoheim siblings. The faunus siblings slipped into ready stances, almost as if they knew what was coming.
Jaune nervously raised his hand in question.
"Uh.. Um.. sir?," Jaune asked.
"You will be monitored and graded throughout the entire duration of your initiation, but our instructors will not intervene. You will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path containing relics. Each pair's job is to collect the relics and return to the top of the cliff. Once you arrive, we will regard the relics and grade you appropriately. Are there any questions, concerns?," Ozpin explained.
Jaune then raised his hand.
"Yeah, uh sir?," Jaune asked missing the tile beaneath Weiss rising.
"Good! Now, take your positions everyone.," Ozpin said.
All of the teens then shifted into ready positions, with the exception of Jaune as he tried getting Ozpin's attention.
Koga nodded towards Ruby, as if he was wishing her good luck. The other teens then began to be launched one by one as Jaune was blissfully unware as to what was happening behind him.
"Um... Ozpin, sir? I've got a question.," Jaune says as students are being launched off of the platforms beside him.
The Tokyoheim siblings just nod towards their friends as both of them are launched off of their respective platforms and into the air. Max and Mist just gave Ruby a thumbs up as the two of them were launched into the air and towards the forest.
"So this uh... landing strategy thing... are we getting parachutes or something?," He asked.
Ozpin didn't bother looking at the boy as he simply stared ahead.
"No. You all will be falling.," Ozpin answered bluntly.
Jaune didn't quite get it as he spoke again.
"What do you mean by falling? We must have hidden ones, right?," Jaune asked confused still.
More students are launched. Jaune missing a rather excited Nora, and a stoic Ren being launched into the air.
"It is as I said, mister arc, you will be falling. You will have to use your own "landing strategy".," Ozpin answered.
"Uh- huh.... yeah.," Jaune said still scratching his head in confusion.
When the camera pans to Yang, the blonde winks at her sister before donning a pair of aviators.
"Woo- hoooooo!!!!," Yang cries in excitement as she is then launched a few seconds before Ruby Joins her in the air.
Finally, Koga gives the girl a final word of encouragement before he is launched.
"Good luck, Ruby. I'll be waiting down on the other side for ya! You got this!," Koga said before he is launched into the air as well.
Ruby is the last one shown as she smiles before she is launched into the air.
Jaune doesn't notice the platform rising up underneath him as he is still trying to question Ozpin.
"So.. what exactly is this "landing strategYYYY!!!!!," Jaune tries asking but is then unprepared as he is launched into the air with the other students.
The students are seen as a cloud before they descend down into the forest under the watchful eye of the teachers gathered there. Ozpin merely takes a sip of his coffee as the scene goes black.
The screen comes back up as Max is seen to be descending like a bullet before he ever so slightly shifts his weight. The flame haired dark teen landed in a crater from his landing, crouching to ensure his safety. His white tail swishing behind him as he stood to his feet.
He cracked his knuckles and stretched before bouncing back and forth on his feet like a boxer. Once he landed squarely on his feet again, he walked forward.
"Alright Emerald Forest, let's see what you got for me!," Max said walking toward a clearing.
Max didn't encounter anything yet, but he could Grimm following him. He sighed Finally having enough of being followed around.
"Alright you stupid mutts... you have until the count of 3 to show yourselves. If you don't do so by the time I reach 3, I'll smoke you idiots out from hiding.!," Max said.
He heard growls and smirked. A beowolf charged at him, to which he side stepped and tripped it. The grimm wolf fell face first into the ground. The teen beckoned the creatured as it swiped at him with its claws repeatedly.
"You know... I expected you guys to be stronger than this...., disappointing.," Max said.
He zipped behind the wolf and dislocated its neck causing the creature to fizzle into black particles and die. Another one came at him at was just as disappointing as the first one was. The dragon faunus dodged and weaved with subtle movements before deciding to strike back with his tail or often times just move so fast that the Grimm never noticed before he snapped his fingers. When he did this, the grimm were attacked by what seemed to be lasers assaulting them before being reduced to black particles.
He smirked before walking towards a clearing.
Short time skip later...
Max was making his way through the forest, when he heard grunting and the sounds of fighting nearby. Curious, he decided to go look and see what the commotion was about. After walking for a bit, he saw a teen around his age with black spiky hair and red eyes fighting off some Grimm. The teen certainly looked capable enough, but.... it couldn't hurt to give him a little hand would it? Convincing himself, Max leapt into the air to go and help the black haired teen.
The black haired teen leapt back from a claw swipe from a Beowolf before skidding to a halt. he gritted his teeth and clicked his tongue in annoyance. These Grimm were small fry, but their numbers were getting to be irritating to deal with on his own. If only he had an opening, then he could finish off these annoying Grimm on his own.
"Tch! How annoying!," The teen thought.
The black haired teen then summoned what seemed to be black colored flames into his hands. defending against one Grimm, while tail swiping another one away from him, he summoned a small black fireball into his open palm. Without a second thought he thrust it into the ground.
"Annoying pests! Take this! ", the teen said angered thrusting his hand onto the ground.
"BLACK GEYSER!!!!"
Several pillars of darkly colored fire then erupted out of the ground, incinerating the Grimm surrounding him and causing the ground to quake. A pillar of the darkly colored fire then erupted into the sky soon after. After the pillar dies down, the teen notices more Grimm that escaped his flames are about ready to pounce on him when suddenly... They're hit by a flash of... white flames?
"NOVA... FLASH FIST!"
The charging Beowulf Grimm are assaulted by a flurry of lights before they are defeated & disappear into black smoke. Max looked back at the black haired teen who had undoubtedly noticed him by now. He slightly glared at Max before walking over to him.
"You realize that I could've handled those small fry on my own, don't you?," The teen asked.
Max just smirked at him before extending a fist towards him. The red eyed teen smirked back.
"Yeah. I knew you could handle 'em, but I figured.. it wouldn't be hurting anything to lend you some extra help, right?," Max replied smirking.
The teen smirked and chuckled at him.
"Even though we've never even met before today? *snorts* You're certainly a strange one.,"The teen said snorting.
The two books just smirked at each other before bumping their fists with each other & then proceeding to shake hands.
"Name's Maxwell Dragonblade, but you can call me Max, or whatever.," Max said grinning.
"Ah, so you're a Dragonblade, eh? Heh! I'm called Kazuma, Kazuma Ayakashi. Just refer to me as Kazuma. That should suffice, shouldn't it Flame hair?," Kazuma greeted.
Max chuckled at the nickname as the two faced each other.
"Flame Hair? Heh heh, alright then. Guess that makes us partners then, doesn't it, reaper?," Max said chuckling.
Kazuma smirks back at Max as he chuckles as well.
"I guess it does, Dragonblade.," He said.
The two teens then turn and start heading further into the woods, most likely, making their way towards the center of the forest.
Elsewhere.....
Koga flew through the air as he descended towards the ground rapidly. Thinking quickly, the young teen aged faunus reached out towards a tree branch. Catching the branch, he swung himself around before hopping to another branch and repeating the action. when he let go, he somersaulted in the air before landing feet first with a crouch in a small crater below him. He brushed himself off before focusing on his immediate task: finding whoever his partner was.
"That was pretty fun, while it lasted. Mustn't get sidetracked now.. time to find my partner... whoever that is haha," Koga said to himself.
Luckily, he doesn't have to wait very long due to his enhanced hearing. This was a result of his faunus traits. He began walking, before hearing grunts and the sound of someone fighting nearby. Koga breaks into a dash to see what all of the commotion nearby was about. As he runs for a bit before hopping on some nearby trees to see further into the forest, his ears pick up that the sound was.. coming towards him? Odd, why would it be coming towards him? unless...
"LOOK OUT!", a voice called to him.
Koga reacts quickly and jumps away from where a large Ursa is sent spiraling into the dirt. He refocuses, but then hears growling nearby. The crimson haired faunus then slips into a stance as he then notices a familiar dark skinned faunus land behind him.
"What the- Hon'oo?!," Koga asked surprised.
The dark skinned faunus with blue hair then eyed him as their eyes then made contact with each other. This signaled that they were partners, and both of them knew it. Unfortunately, they could not focus on their sudden reunion as partners due to the Grimm surrounding them at the moment.
"We can talk in a bit, Kouga.. Right now, these ugly guys need some attention!," Hon'oo replied.
The two nodded to each other before they sprang into action. Kouga gathered power into his fist as golden light enveloped his fist.
"STAR FANG.... METEOR FIST!"
Kouga spread his hands wide as if he was tracing something or building up power. Once he felt that he'd built up enough power, he released the attack. A golden light shined from his fists before a barrage of punches came hurtling towards the grim surrounding him. It cleared out the horde of Grimm in front of his him before he ignited his hand again.
"STAR FANG... SEVERING CLAW!"
Kouga swung his arm as claw marks came forth, ripping the approaching Grimm into shreds. He used his tail to knock away stragglers that survived the attack. While, Kouga dealt with Grimm on his end, Hon'oo dealt with the ones on hers. A blue aura surrounded her as droplets of water formed in her hand before she stretched them out like she was shooting a bow and arrow.
"SEA FANG... BALLISTA!!"
The bow grew wider and as it was shot a barrage of water arrows split off from the larger one. The larger one pierced through an Ursa major and ripped through the forest, destroying anything in its way. She straced her own pattern before bring her fist forward to finish off the others.
"SEA FANG.. SHOTGUN!"
A constant barrage of water bullets then came forth, tearing through every one of the remaining Grimm only stopping when Hon'oo uncurled her fist. She exhaled before sighing and turning towards Kouga.
"Guess we're partners then?," Kouga asked.
Hon'oo nodded before grinning at him. She was happy to work with someone who she knew so well. Although adopted, Kouga and Hon'oo had been friends since childhood due to their families living next door to each other for so many years. Kouga sweatdropped wen looking at the damage from one of Hon'oo's attacks as it had left a sizable trench across the forest.
"Yeah, looks like it. We should probably head to that temple or whatever prof. Ozpin was talking about.," She said.
"True, but uh... how are we going to explain.. THAT?," He asked pointing out the large trench.
Hon'oo sweatdropped. She did it again, didn't she?
"Heh heh heh, an accident I guess? But.. at least we have a direction to head towards, right?," She replied laughing nervously.
Kouga slapped his hand against his forehead in response.
"Sure... Let's go before you have any more... "misfires".," He said.
The pair walk off, heading in the direction that they thought the temple with the ruins was. Kouga simply hoped that they wouldn't get into too much trouble for destroying part of the forest.
Time skip: With Mist...
Mist had landed after nimbly using some tree branches to slow her fall. She didn't want to draw too much attention right now. Especially after noticing a giant pillar of water tearing apart the forest. She sighed in annoyance, that was most likely Hon'oo's handiwork. The fuchsia haired faunus girl walked carefully through the forest, oddly not encountering any kind of Grimm so far.
"Now then.. I wonder if I'll find anyone here? I'll need to, since I can't complete this test without a partner.," Mist thought aloud.
Right now, she was simply enjoying the scenery of Forever Fall Forest. She briskly walked through the calm forest, taking care not to lose track of time. She'd take things slow though. Continuing on her way, she stopped as she used her sense of smell to pick up on something. Raising her eyebrow in curiosity, Mist headed to a clearing to see what it was. She smirked when she saw a certain black haired faunus in a dark blue jacket. It looked like there had been Grimm here, if the the broken icicles on the ground were anything to go by at least. Mist stopped walking as she just put her hands on her hips before speaking.
"Thought i'd find you here, Sho.," Mist said gaining the attention of the black haired Faunus.
He turned around and spotted Mist, smiling back at her.
"I'd thought to offer my help in dealing with any Grimm by you, but.. it looks like you had that covered already.,"She said walking before stopping in front of him.
he grinned before speaking, answering her.
"I would have, had someone showed up here instead of taking her time to get here. But then again, you never did like being flashy to bring unnecessary attention to yourself. did you, Mist?," He answered smirking at his partner.
Mist chuckled before shrugging at her fellow faunus teen.
"Caught me red handed, Sho.," she chuckled before shrugging.
"I take it this means we're partners then?," He asked.
Mist nodded.
"It would appear so. Well, no sense in just standing around here. We should get going.," Mist said.
Shoryu nodded as they began jogging through the forest towards the center of the forest where the others were gathering.
Time skip: Nearby...
Another Faunus teen with silver hair and matching horns waded through the forest. This teen was tan skinned and wore a steel gray jacket with dark pants, a blue shirt underneath, red shoes, and a silver crystal necklace hung around his neck. Of course there was a hole for his silver- steel gray tail, but he kept it hidden as he didn't want anyone getting suspicious as to what kind of a faunus he was. He did encounter some Grimm on his way so far, but not anything that he couldn't handle on his own. He was able to deal with them fairly quickly, due to his power.
"Geez! How have I not found a partner yet?," The teen asked himself.
He'd searched high and low, but hadn't encountered anything other than Grimm so far. Right now, he had a brief respite from them. This teen's name was Toshiro Torugaiya, originally born in Vacuo, but had come to Vale in order to become a Huntsman. His village was very poor and he thought that if he became a full fledged Huntsman, he could provide the funds his village needed to sustain itself. Maybe, if he became famous or well known enough, his fellow villagers could even move somewhere more prosperous. Shaking those thoughts, he refocused on why he was here. Just as he was about to give up, however..... He spotted a lavender haired girl ahead of him. Upon a closer look, he could tell that she was a faunus like himself. She had the horns and tail to prove it too. But.. there was something wrong, she looked panicked. It was a moment later, when he saw why. Grimm were closing in on her and her tail, along with her leg were stuck beneath a tree branch.
"ADAMANTINE SPEAR!!"
Coating his fist into a hard steel, he threw his fist forward as several metal projectiles came from it. This caused several Grimm to be impaled by the sharp objects, as well as the others to scatter. He jumped in front of the girl as if he was defending her.
"Are you alright?," He asked.
The girl nodded as she looked at the boy worried.
"Huh? uh.. y-yeah I think so?," The girl replied.
The girl's clothes matched her hair color as she had a light purple shirt on to go with a pair of green jean shorts that had a hole in the back for her dark blue and purple tail, black stockings, blue sneakers, a brown belt, a purple crystal hanging from the bracelet on her wrist, a pair of sky blue gloves, a purple jacket, & pink ribbons that tied her hair in the back to finish the look.
Toshiro grit his teeth in frustration as more Grimm approached him and the girl. This was bad. He couldn't defend this girl and fight off as many Grimm that were coming at them at the same time. Just as he had hardened his skin into steel, about to attack the Grimm, a sudden bolt of lightning struck the ground. It shook the ground, and fried any Grimm it touched. Crossing his arms, Toshiro guarded against the dust flying towards his face. When he lowered his arms, he was surprised to see another girl in front of him. She had black hair with gold highlights in it, red eyes, and lightly colored skin. The girl before him wore what appeared to a gray tank top with her gold jacket tied to her waist, black boots, a yellow and black tail, matching horns, ebony black gloves with what looked like thunder bolts on them, golden yellow pants, and a blood red bandanna tied to her forehead, beneath her bangs to finish off the look. She smirked at him.
"You doin' okay over there, kid?," She asked.
Toshiro nodded, as did the girl behind him.
"Good. Hang tight, i'll just... fry these things up real quick!," She said grinning maniacally.
She cracked her knuckles in anticipation as she walked forward.
"Alright you stupid Grimm, which would you prefer? Rare, Medium Rare, or... Well done? Personally... I like my prey WELL DONE!"She said summoning an abnormal ammount of lightning.
"LIGHTNING FANG... RAGING BOLT!"
Bringing her hand down a large lightning bolt descended from the sky, shaking the ground and electrocuting the remaining Grimm before they fizzled into black smoke.
Turning towards the pair she grinned. She walked towards Toshiro and greeted him.
"Sorry about the sudden entrance. You two looked like you could use some help. Hope I didn't overstep at all.," The girl asked.
Toshiro shook his head and greeted the girl with a smile.
"No No! I appreciate you helping us uh...?," Toshiro said realizing he didn't know this girl's name.
She grinned before speaking.
"Yukikaze. Yukikaze Ayakashi. But please, just call me Yukikaze."Yukikaze greeted.
Toshiro nodded and introduced himself.
"Of course. And My name is Toshiro. Toshiro Torugaiya. But feel free to call me Toshiro.," He replied.
The girl then spoke up as well.
"And my name is Gweyn. Gweyn Gorman. But you can just call me Gweyn.," Gweyn said. "But uh... could you guys help me? I'm kinda stuck here."
The two nodded before lifting the tree off of the girl's foot & tail. Gweyn was still a bit weak from having her foot hurt, so Toshiro bent down and carried her on his back. This of course embarrassed her and caused the lavender haired girl to blush furiously.
"U-Um Toshiro san w-what are you doing?," Gweyn asked blushing furiously.
The silver haired faunus looked at the girl and smiled.
"You're still hurt, right? I figured this would be the fastest way for us three to get where we need to go. Besides... I can't just leave you behind loke you were.," Toshiro told her.
Gweyn then slightly hid her face so the boy couldn't see how red it was.
"I.. I see. Th-Thank you then Toshiro san.," Gweyn replied.
Yukikaze smiled before speaking.
"Not to interrupt you two but uh... shouldn't we get going?," Yukikaze asked.
The two teens then looked away from each other, the faces both red. After a moment, Gweyn then looked to the girl who saved them.
"Um... Yukikaze, right?," Gweyn asked.
The black haired girl nodded.
"Yeah, that's me. What's up?," She asked.
"What will you do? You haven't found a partner yet, right?," Gweyn asked her.
The red eyed girl thought about it for a moment. This girl was right, she hadn't found a partner yet. Fortunately, she'd made eye contact with both Toshiro & Gweyn at the same time when she saved them which meant one thing... both of them were her partners.
"Actually... I did, Gweyn.," She answered.
This confused the girl.
"Huh? You did?," She asked confused.
Yukikaze nodded.
"I did.," Yukikaze replied.
Toshiro then goes to leave with Gweyn before The girl stops them.
"Well, i guess this is farewell for now.," Toshiro said.
"Take care, Yukikaze.," Gweyn said.
"Hold up a minute.," Yukikaze said gaining the duo's attention.
Toshiro turns back to see what Yukikaze wanted.
"Hm?," He asked.
"You.. do remember what prof. Ozpin said about teams, right?," Yukikaze asked.
Toshiro and Gweyn nodded.
"Yeah, we remember.," Gweyn said.
"The first person you make eye contact with upon your landing will be your new partner for the next 4 years here at Beacon. So, by that logic....," Yukikaze reminded them before trailing off.
"What are you getting at?," Toshiro asked.
"When I helped you guys, I technically made eye contact with both of you. You do know what that means though, don't you?," Yukikaze explained.
Both widened their eyes in shock as they caught on to what Yukikaze was suggesting.
"B-But how? Toshiro and I are already partners! How can both of us be your partners?," Gweyn asked surprised.
"Is that even possible?," Toshiro asked.
"Well... there were an odd number of students at the initiation this year. Don't you find that to be a bit strange?," Yukikaze answered.
They thought about it for a moment. It was strange! Like someone deliberately set it up that way so there'd be one team with 5 as opposed to the traditional 4.
"So the both of you are my partners.," Yukikaze said.
"Will this even work?," Toshiro asked.
"Don't know. But may as well find out, right?," Yukikaze replied.
The trio then nodded as they made up their minds.
"May as well get going towards where the others are gathering.," Yukikaze said.
The other two teens nod in agreement as they turn and begin their trek towards the center of the forest.
A/N: Sorry about that, I wanted to get the oc's interactions out of the way first. Don't worry, the other teams of the main cast will be covered next.
With Ruby....
A small black bird is seen flying through the air, just minding its own business. That is until, it gives an awkward shriek as Ruby crash through it in a small burst of feathers as she plummets towards the ground. She grows concerned as she didn't mean to harm any wildlife while taking this initiation test.
"Ah, birdie no!," Ruby says in fear that she may have injured the poor creature.
As she descends, she fired a few rounds from the sniper part of her scythe to slow down the pace of her fall. Once she was low enough, the young silver eyed girl transformed her weapon into its scythe form to catch a branch of a nearby tree with the blade. She is able to fall down at a much slower pace.
The camera cuts to Weiss as she draws her dust rapier, Myrtenaster, before summoning a series of small glyphs in the shape of a snowflake. She leaps off one towards another, repeating the process before leaping off of the last one and towards the forest below her.
The scene then cuts to Ren, with Nora beside him briefly, falling at a much more rapid pace. He shifts his body and spins in the air before using the blades of his weapon, Stormflower, to spiral around the tree trunk. He hits the ground and brushes off his clothes. The teen looks to the sky to see a certain Blonde flying over him in the air.
"Woo hoo! Alley- oop!," Yang laughed in glee.
Speaking of the blonde, she's seen to be soaring over the tree tops and using her gauntlets to push her further north with the fiery force coming from them. She spins in the air and is laughing with each of the blasts, even though she crashed through the leaves of one tree and leaps off of two trunks before tumbling to the ground.
"Yeah, nailed it!," Yang said grinning before she runs off.
The camera then transitions to a certain red headed gladiator, Pyrrha Nikos. She had her weapon in sword form and was armed with her shield as well. Pyrrha crashed through several trees before rolling on a branch of another tree, immediately shifting her sword into rifle form and looking through its scope. The red head spots jaune through the scope before shifting her weapon again, but into a spear this time. Jaune continued to scream and fall helplessly before the gladiator timed her throw as the spear rocketed through the forest until a loud "THUNK!" noise was heard.
"Thank you!," the blonde boy said from in the distance.
Pyrrha waves at him before replying with a sheepish grin.
"I'm sorry!", Pyrrha replied waving.
It cuts back to Ruby as she lands on the forest floor before taking off again in a burst of speed. The whole time she had a single thought that became a mantra in her mind.
"Gotta find Yang! Gotta find Yang, gotta find Yang, gotta find... Yang! Yaaaang!," She said panicked.
Inside of Ruby's mind, she begins seeing herself partnered with various different people. She begins monologing to herself about different people she's met so far.
"This bad, like really bad! What if.. I can't find her? What will happen if someone else finds her first? Well... let's see, there's Jaune. He's... nice and funny! But... I get the feeling that he's not very good in fight.... who else do I know? Ooh! What about that one girl... Blake I think her name was? So quiet.. and mysterious and so calm... Plus, she really likes books! But, I don't think I could really hold a conversation with her. Hm... come on, think Ruby! Who else do you know here?," She said before thinking about her options and continuing as she ran.
"There's those faunus who helped me. Hon'oo... she's really pretty! But... that's about all I know about her... I don't really know much about her brother, so that's a no. Let's see... who else? There's Mist! She could be fun! But... it's the same as with Hon'oo, I don't really know much about her.... Her brother Max maybe? He seems like he'd be a good choice, but something tells me he already has a partner. There's Kouga, who helped me out yesterday... maybe I could find him! Question is.. where would he be? And someone may have found him already! Argh! Think Ruby! Who else do you know?
There's Yang, Blake, Jaune, Mist, Max , Kouga, Hon'oo, her brother, aaaaaannnnddd....," Ruby said before she slid to a stop.
As she did, time seems to slow down as Weiss turns to face her with the two girls locking eyes with each other. A long and awkward pause follows this before Weiss just turns on her heels and began to walk away. Ruby's confused at this, why was Weiss doing that? Weren't they supposed to be partners now?
"Hey, wait! Where are you going?!," Ruby said reaching out as she stopped and kicked the ground dejected. "We're supposed to be teammates..."
Weiss is seen to be struggling her way through the forest, giving an occassional grunt of pain or "Ow!" As she moves plants out of her way. She brushed off her clothes and sighed in relief before hearing a voice above where she stood.
"Come on, come on! Stupid little...!," Jaune said struggling to free himself before pausing and seeing Weiss staring at him.
Weiss saw Jaune hanging a few feet in the air by the spear embedded in his hood and the tree behind him. He finally gave up trying to free himself before waving awkwardly and embarrassed at the Schnee heiress. The Schnee heiress simply turns around & walks away from his direction, making Jaune groan dejectedly. Ruby is seen to be following Weiss, when the Schnee pulls her by the hood as she's about to pass her.
"By no means does this make us friends.," Weiss said huffing in annoyance.
Ruby raised her arms and smiles overjoyed as she's dragged away into the bushes.
"You came back!," Ruby said happily as she's dragged away by Weiss.
Jaune reaches out and waves his arms, seeing the scene as he tries getting the Schnee's attention.
"Wait! Come back! Great.... who's going to get me down from here?!," Jaune called out in vain.
Just when he thinks that no one heard him, Pyrrha is revealed to be looking up at him rather curiously. Noticing her, the blonde knight looks down at his savior.
"Jaune? I was kinda wondering... do you... have any spots left on your team?," Pyrrha asked from below him.
Jaune crossed his arms, not at all liking the situation he was in currently.
"Very funny...," He said a little annoyed at first before looking down at the red head with a smile.
Back with Ruby & Weiss...
The scene then changes back to inside of the forest with Weiss trudging on ahead and Ruby following a ways behind her.
"What's the rush?," Ruby asked curiously.
Weiss sighed in annoyance before answering her "teammate", not that she thought of the shorter girl as such.
"If you must know, I will not let my mission be delayed because you're too slow! Honestly, if i somehow get a bad grade because your-,"Weiss said before pausing as a smiling ruby is seen to be right next to her. "What the-?"
"See? I'm not slow at all, you don't have to worry about me so much!," Ruby said smiling at the silver haired girl.
Weiss looks back in slight disbelief, but also amazement.
"When did you..?," Weiss asked but never finished her thought.
"Weiss, just because I don't know how to deal with most people, that doesn't automatically mean I'm incapable of dealing with monsters.," She said before wrapping an arm around Weiss' shoulders as she continued her speech."You're about to see a whole different side of me today! And at the end of it, you'll be like: Wow! That Ruby girl is really cool... and i wanna be her friend!"
Ruby disappears in a shower of rose petals, which Weiss waves away from her face just as she hears crackling and rustling in the bushes around her. The Schnee slightly scoffs at the notion as she speaks.
"You may be fast, but you still excel at wasting time like a child!," Weiss said lightly scoffing. "Ruby?"
There's more silence, save for some unnerving growls. It was almost as if Ruby just suddenly vanished from her presence.
"Ruby..?", Weiss called out again.
The camera revolves around Weiss, as multiple pairs of red eyes stare at her from the bushes and a deep growl is heard. She turns around until she spots a large, jagged Beowolf emerging from a bush and approaching her.
"Ruby!",Weiss called again thinking the smaller girl was playing a prank on her.
Unfortunately for her, it wasn't Ruby. The Beowolf roared as it approached the Schnee heiress. Weiss drew her rapier as she then prepared to face off with the Grimm who approached her.
With Yang....
The scene then cuts to a view of Yang Xiao Long walking and looking around in a nother part of the Emerald forest. She cups her hands to her mouth, obviously calling out for her younger sister whom she is still trying to find.
"Helloooooooo? Is anyone out there? Helloooo?," Yang called out. "I'm getting bored here!"
She stops raising her arms, not noticing the shadow that passed by her. Yang then hears a rustling in the bushes behind her and turns to investigate it, thinking it was her sister.
"Ruby, is that you?,"Yang asked.
A low and inhuman growl is heard, making the blonde raise her head to look at the creature.
"Nope! That's not her!"Yang said jumping back.
She then quickly rolled to the side as an Ursa charged out of the greenery. She quickly stands to her feet, takes a stance, and activates her dust weapons, a pair of shotgun gauntlets called Ember Celica. She stares at the monster once more before another one runs out behind her. The blonde leapt over it and its companion runs at her again only for it to get knocked back by a powerful fiery punch. The other Ursa and Yang charge at each other, the latter managing to slip past its guard to deliver a quick barrage of fiery punches and a kick to its stomach sending the creature back. Yang then bounces on her feet, just like a boxer as she then spoke.
"You guys wouldn't happen to have seen a girl wearing a red hood, would you?," The blonde brawler asked.
The pair of Grimm just roared back at her, making Yang shrug.
"You could've just said "No"."Yang said sighing.
One of the Ursai then swipes its legs towards Yang, the blonde narrowly dodging the attack.
Yang laughs briefly before she complete her insult.
"Geez! You Grimm couldn't even hit the broad side of a-"Yang said stopping as she saw a strand of her golden blonde hair fall to the floor in front of her.
Yang then closed her eyes and clenched her fists as she shook in anger.
"You...." Yang said in lowered voiced.
When Yang opened her eyes, they were now red as she screamed in anger.
"HOW DARE YOU... YOU MONSTER!!!!", Yang screamed angrily.
The two Ursai look at each other in confusion, not knowing what to do. An inferno of flames surround Yang for a moment before she then rockets towards the Grimm. She then unleashes a devastating combo of fiery punches, kicks, and elbows upon the the Grimm. This sent the offending Ursai flying through burning trees. The remaining Ursa runs towards her, but then pulled up short upon Yang's glare towards it. A tree then falls to the ground behind her.
"What?! You want some too, monster?!," Yang said angrily glaring at the Grimm.
The Ursa prepared to attack, only for it to gasp in pain as it falls to ground, dead. It is revealed that Blake had slit the creature's throat with her gun blade when it wasn't looking. The dark haired girl then swings her blade to the side to flick off the Grimm blood from it. Yang's eyes then return to their normal Lilac color as he watches blade sheathe the blade onto her back.
"I could've taken him.," Yang said.
Blake smiles before slightly turning towards Yang.
"I'm aware.," She said.
Back with Weiss....
The scene transitions back to Weiss's predicament after Ruby had suddenly disappeared on her. She deflects a swipe from a Beowolf with her Rapier, getting pushed into the center of the circle of beasts. The silver haired heiress then points her sword forward as she calmly inhales and exhales, going through her duel training and motions.
"Remember your training, Weiss... Just like how Winter taught you. Head straight up, shoulders back, right foot forward- not that forward! Slow your breathing..., wait for the proper time to strike, and...," Weiss said inside of her head.
She brings up her rapier as the revolver just below it's hilt begins to spin.
"Now!", she said internally as she dashed forward to strike.
Weiss dashed forward with the revolver spinning in her loaded weapon towards the Beowolf in front of her, intent on slaying the beast. At least she would have, if not for Ruby suddenly appearing in between the two in a burst of flowing red petals. Ruby then sliced the monster clean in half with a single swipe of her scythe.
"Gotcha!", Ruby said grinning.
Weiss's eyes widen as she suddenly has to pull up and swing her rapier in a random direction to avoid hitting Ruby and in a line of fire that sets a nearby tree ablaze. This is quickly followed by the rest of the forest clearing surrounding where they were. Ruby's distracted by Weiss's mess up, and is very poorly defended when the Beowolf swipes at her weapon sending her flying into the heiress.
"Hey, watch it!," Ruby said rubbing her head in slight pain.
"Excuse me! You attacked out of turn, I could have killed you!," Weiss argued back.
The Beowolves whine and howl around the two as they wielded their weapons. Ruby reloads her scythe just as a flaming tree falls behind her. Weiss grabs Ruby's arm and was about to tell her they needed to go. Well.., she would have if not for the enormous beam of water ripping through the forest where they stood moments ago. The giant water attack created a sizable trench as it not only wiped out the Grimm, it also ripped through the trees surrounding them and shook the ground. Once it died down, the two girls looked stunned.
"Uh.... What just... Happened?," Ruby asked dumbfounded.
Weiss was just as clueless as to what took place, feeling her jaw slacking.
"I honestly haven't the slightest clue.," Weiss said.
Ruby shook her head as the duo kept walking before reaching a safer place.
"Anyways... That should have been much easier than that! What gives?!," Ruby asked.
"Well maybe if you put even the slightest amount of thought into the placement of your strikes, I wouldn't have set the forest on fire and we wouldn't have been put in that dangerous of a situation!," Weiss barked back.
Ruby was getting annoyed with Weiss's attitude and just let her know what she thought.
"Well, Excuse me if you need my help to win a fight "Miss Always have to Be Perfect!" I was doing just fine on my own!", Ruby yelled at her.
"Congratulations on being the strongest child to sneak into Beacon, Bravo! This is serious you know, something a mere child like you wouldn't understand.,"Weiss spat back.
Ruby had enough and became very angry at Weiss.
"AND WHAT WOULD YOU KNOW ABOUT ME, HUH?! If anyone is the child here, it's you! This is why I hate people like you!," Ruby said angry before swinging her scythe at tree in frustration and walking off.
"Now see here-!," Weiss tried arguing before Ruby shut her down.
"Don't follow me! I need.... to go cool my head. Find your own way there, miss perfect heiress!," Ruby said angered as she then stormed off.
Weiss stood there wide eyed at Ruby's outburst towards her. No one had ever talked back to her in such a manner before. But if she really thought about it, perhaps... She was a little too harsh with the younger girl. Ruby was obviously going through something and it wasn't her place to judge. Weiss sighed that... could've gone much better. Still.... she was slightly put off that Ruby talked to her in such a manner. She would find the young girl and give her a piece of her mind. She began walking in search of her teammate, just as a large dark feather fell onto the trunk behind her.
With Jaune & Pyrrha...
The scene then shifts to across the forest with Pyrrha, armed with her dust weapons Milo and Akouo, and Jaune as they make their way through some bushes and other plant life. The blonde knight then hears a noise in the distance and turns towards it.
"Did you hear that, Pyrrha?," He asked.
Pyrrha nodded.
"I did. Gunfire, it would seem that our comrades have encountered the enemy.," Pyrrha answered nodding.
The duo keep moving forward, Jaune still looking towards the sound as Pyrrha goes to move the branch out of the way to pass by. She unknowingly releases it right into Jaune's face, causing the limb to smack him and floor him immediately. Pyrrha hears the thud behind her and looks back in worry and concern.
"Ah, Jaune! I'm so sorry!," She says apologizing as she goes to check on the blonde knight.
The blonde simply laughs it off as he removes his hand from his face to reveal a rather large gash from the wooden limb's recoil upon his cheek.
"It's fine, Pyrrha. Just a scratch! nothing more.," Jaune said getting up when the redhead walks over to him.
Pyrrha then looks at him rather curiously, but also confused.
"Why didn't you activate your Aura, Jaune?," she asked.
Jaune was confused, he didn't know what Aura was.
"What?," He asked.
"Your Aura.," Pyrrha replied.
"Gesundheit.,"Jaune said.
Pyrrha raised an eyebrow. Surely, Jaune couldn't be THAT clueless about Aura, right? But then again..this is Jaune we're talking about.
"Jaune, Do... you know what Aura is?," Pyrrha asked.
Jaune tried to play off the fact that he was clueless about cooly, however Pyrrha saw through the facade.
"Psch! Of course I do! Do you know what Aura is?," Jaune replied waving off the question, avoiding eye contact with the red head.
Pyrrha just smiles at him and inwardly sighs. She'd have to explain from the beginning, wouldn't she? Yet... she couldn't fault him. There was something about Jaune that she couldn't help but to want to help him. She then begins her explanation of Aura off screen as the scene shifts to Ren inside of the forest.
"Aura is the physical manifestation of our souls, Jaune. It bears our burdens and acts as a shield to our hearts. Have you ever felt like someone was secretly watching you without you knowing that anyone was there?"
"Uh.. Yeah, I have."
Ren is seen to be walking as he then narrowed his eyes. He looks around him, while an enormous Black snake like Grimm rises from the grass. It surrounds him with its large, hissing body. Ren slips into a fighting stance as the Snake Grimm coils its body in front of the teen and goes to attack him with its long, sharp fangs.
The scene briefly cuts back to Pyrrha and Jaune as the gladiator is seen t be walking around Jaune as she continued her explanation.
"With enough practice and training, Aura can be a shield to us. Everyone has it, even the animals."Pyrrha explained.
"What about monsters?," Jaune asked.
"No."
The scene switches back to Ren as he leaps out of the way, the snake's mouth hitting the ground where he was previously. It immediately comes up and hits Ren back with its snout as he was jumping back.
"Those monsters we fight, all of them lack a soul. They're the creatures of Grimm, the very form and manifestation of anonymity."
Ren was seen to be landing in a crouch, when the serpent Grimm tries to encircle him again. He draws his Dust weapons, Stormflower, a pair of bladed pistols, that he then proceeds to fire upon the snake Grimm to gain some distance.
"They are the darkness, and we are the light."
Ren kicks the snout and then slashes at its head.
"R-Right, That's why we fight them!," Jaune replied.
"It's not about why Jaune, it's about knowing."
The snake slithers around Ren and tried biting him again, only for him to flip over it and drive the blades of his weapons into the serpent's head. He paused just for a moment, not able to sense the snake's white head behind him.
"Understanding Light and Darkness helps us to manifest our Aura. Everyone has a little bit of both."
Ren turned and looks up, spotting the white head of thee serpent as it launches itself towards him. He dodged it just in time to see the snake's black head coming towards him as well. As the black head nears him,he leapt onto it and sliding across its body while simultaneously blasting the white head.
"It is by baring our souls outward as a force that we can deflect or direct harm away from us. All of the tools and equipment we use are conduits in which to channel Aura. It's in this way that you can protect yourself and your own soul while you fight. "
Ren isn't prepared for the white head to hit him with its snout, knocking him away as his weapons are flung out of his hands. He crosses his arms as he sees the black head approaching him, distantly shouting in defiance towards it.
"No!," Ren said to the black head of the snake Grimm.
Cuts back to Jaune and Pyrrha as he opens his eyes in realization.
"It's like a force field! Right?," Jaune said.
Pyrrha smiles at him.
"Yeah, if you'd like to think of it that way. I suppose it is like one... in a sense.", Pyrrha replied.
The scene cuts back to Ren, who's now holding the enormous fangs of the black snake head in his hands as he is glowing a very faint pink as it pulsates over him. He tightens his grip and yanks the the large teeth from the monster's mouth, causing the snake to flail away from him. It goes to try and bite him again, only for Ren to spin to the side and stab a fang into its eye. He shifts his arm so the makeshift weapon is driven into the monster's skull, instantly killing it. The creature then ripples before expanding, then exploding into a dark mess as it's now headless body flails next to the other snake head. Wasting no time, Ren runs towards the white snake head.
The scene switches back to Jaune and Pyrrha as the red head approaches the blonde knight. She then touched the side of his head.
"Try to concentrate, Jaune.," Pyrrha said.
Jaune, not sure what is happening just awkwardly replies:
"Uh... okay?"
Pyrrha smiles and closes her own eyes, opening them as her skin glows and her irises shrink before shutting them again. The two stand there, now with Pyrrha glowing a faint red and Jaune a bright white.
"For it is in passing that we achieve immortality. Through this, we become a paragon of virtue and glory to rise above all, infinite in distance and unbound by death.," Pyrrha said before placing a hand on his chest as she continued to mentally speak. "I now release your soul, and by my shoulder protect thee."
Pyrrha stops glowing red and due to the large amount of Aura Jaune has, she is seen to be hunched over in exhaustion. Jaune looks over in concern after he finished reveling in the Aura he just had unlocked.
"Pyrrha, are you okay?," The blonde knight asked in concern.
Pyrrha smiled tiredly and nodded.
"Yes Jaune, I'm fine. No need to worry about me. I just used my own Aura to unlock yours, but the energy that protects you now is your own. You have.. alot of it.," Pyrrha said grinning at him as she watched the scratch upon Jaune's cheek close up and vanish.
Jaune smiles and looks at his hands as the bright white glow then stops.
"Wow... so this is Aura...," Jaune said in awe.
The scene then switched back to Ren, as he is seen to be standing on top of the body of his fallen enemy. He slides his weapons into his sleeves before hearing a strange animal like noise come from nearby. He looks up to see the upside down eyes of his partner, Nora Valkyrie. He chuckled.
"I still don't think that's what a sloth sounds like, Nora.," Ren said chuckling.
Nora just responds by giving her friend a "Boop!" on the nose as the scene then fades to black.
