The trial had ended, but its echoes still lingered.

Zhang Yan stood alongside the surviving disciples, his body tense as they awaited judgment. Before them, atop a raised platform, stood Elder Mo Jian—one of the enforcers of the Outer Circle. His piercing eyes swept over them, his expression unreadable.

Kneeling before him were eight individuals—those who had awakened their Demon's Seeds within the trial. Among them was Zhang Yan, his fingers still wrapped tightly around his dagger. At his side knelt Qian Feng, his breathing steady despite the bruises marring his face. The six others varied in stature and temperament, yet all radiated a dark aura, proof of their awakening.

They were no longer mere Outer Circle disciples.

"The Demon's Seed is the foundation of our sect's true path," Elder Mo Jian spoke, his voice sharp and unwavering. "You eight have taken the first step beyond mediocrity. The seed within you is not just power—it is a promise of what you may become. A blade that will either carve your path forward… or consume you."

His gaze lingered on each of them in turn, assessing, measuring.

"To recognize your potential, the sect grants you entry to the Scripture Hall. There, you will each select one cultivation manual from the outer collection—one suited to the path you will walk. Choose wisely, for your future begins with this step."

Murmurs rose among the gathered disciples. The Scripture Hall was revered, its ancient tomes holding techniques that could decide one's fate. To be granted entry was an honor few Outer Circle disciples ever received.

Zhang Yan met Qian Feng's gaze briefly. There was no camaraderie there, only acknowledgment. They had both survived, but only one of them could claim true dominance in the future.

Elder Mo Jian turned sharply. "Follow."

The eight rose to their feet and stepped forward, leaving behind the envious stares of their peers.
