Diary Of Service Club, Helping The Elf Princess

Chapter 64: Chapter 64: More Girls

Looking at the gentle smile yet internally cunning expression of Yuina, Asougi Shion was speechless for a long time.

'How can this also be called training? Isn't it just Yuina-san and the others wanting to have fun?'

'It's said that Sobu High has a good academic atmosphere and strict discipline, and the school doesn't allow students to date at all.'

'Could it be that this is actually Yuina-san and the others' true goal?'

'Because the school is too strict, they sought out Hachiman-nii, using the excuse of helping him in exchange for fulfilling their own desires.'

Asougi Shion felt like she had uncovered the truth.

However, before she could delve deeper into her thoughts, the doorbell at the Hikigaya residence rang.

"Ding dong~"

"It's probably Kaede-senpai and the others. I'll go open the door."

Hearing the doorbell from the entrance, Asougi Shion quickly got up and walked out to answer it.

Yuina and Minami exchanged glances with Rin and smiled knowingly.

Now, the once lifeless dead-fish-eyed Hikigaya had turned into someone with bright, piercing eyes. His entire aura had changed—he was already like a super handsome guy.

Their request had essentially been fulfilled, but Hikigaya's physical training wasn't complete yet. They still needed to help him more, at least until he could win over Gabriel.

Before achieving that goal, they had to continue helping him, transforming him into an utterly dazzling super hottie.

"Hello, Kaede-senpai, Suzu-senpai, Vignette-senpai."

Asougi Shion, wearing her shoes, went outside to open the door. The figures waiting outside were indeed Kaede and Suzu, who had just returned after being busy with student council work, as well as Vignette.

"Sorry to trouble you, Shion, to open the door. Where's Komachi?",Kaede, walking in while smiling at Asougi Shion, who had opened the door, asked casually.

This classmate of Komachi's seemed obedient and well-behaved. It was a pity her family situation wasn't great; otherwise, she wouldn't have to stay at Hachiman's house.

Thankfully, she was moving out soon, relocating to Vignette's apartment. Otherwise, Kaede might actually be worried about Shion being taken advantage of by Hachiman.

She trusted Hachiman's character not to do anything malicious intentionally. However, precisely because of that, unintentional incidents could happen. With a girl like Shion, she would likely endure silently, leading to Hachiman unwittingly taking advantage of her—and even sparking feelings from prolonged time under one roof.

"Komachi went to the nearby supermarket to buy groceries. She should be back soon",Asougi Shion walked into the entrance, placing their slippers neatly on the floor as she explained.

Since so many people were staying for dinner tonight, the ingredients initially prepared weren't enough.

Originally, she was supposed to go grocery shopping with Komachi, but since Hachiman and Gabriel had entered the kitchen, it felt inappropriate to leave Yuina and the others alone in the living room. So, Komachi ended up cycling to the supermarket alone.

"Are you preparing a feast to celebrate your move to the new home? That's worth celebrating. Is Hachiman busy in the kitchen? I'll help cook too."

Vignette, who was aware of Hachiman's plan to rent a house, noticed that Asougi Shion didn't seem upset, indicating no problems with the rental process. Without hesitation, she rolled up her sleeves, ready to help.

After these past few days, she understood that if she tried to leave now, neither Hachiman nor Kaede would agree.

Instead of wasting time being persuaded to stay for dinner, it was better to jump straight in and help in the kitchen.

"Huh? Are there more guests today? Why is it so lively?"

Entering the living room, Vignette noticed three tall, striking girls with varying hair colors sitting on the sofa and playing games. She couldn't help but be surprised.

"Hachiman, this guy…"

Kaede squinted her eyes slightly, staring at Hachiman, who was busy in the semi-open kitchen with a petite blonde figure.

She had been working hard on student council affairs at school, only to find Hachiman surrounded by beautiful girls at home?

What happened to the Service Club? She had bent the rules to set up the club for him, and now he wasn't focusing on the Service Club. Instead, he was skipping school early every day and bringing a group of girls home to hang out.

If Hachiman didn't provide a reasonable explanation today, Kaede decided she and Suzu would teach him a lesson tonight.

"It's really lively today. My classmates came over to help with Shion's situation."

Hachiman, hearing the commotion caused by Vignette and Kaede's arrival, turned around and explained the presence of Gabriel and Yuina and her friends.

He had always had minimal social interactions, and his home had never been this crowded with classmates and friends before.

This might be the liveliest moment of his life so far.

"Hello, we're Hachiman's good friends. I'm Yuina; this is Minami, and over there is Rin."

Yuina stood up with a cheerful smile, introducing herself and also helping introduce the two engrossed in gaming, Minami and Rin.

"Hi, I'm Gabriel Tenma White. I sit next to Hikigaya in class and am also a good friend of his."

Wearing a blue apron and with her hair tied up, Gabriel put down what she was holding, adjusted the stove to a lower heat, and turned around with a smile to introduce herself to Kaede, Suzu, and Vignette.

Though Hikigaya had never specifically said they were good friends, since Yuina and the others introduced themselves as such, Gabriel felt she should follow suit. Otherwise, simply claiming to be a classmate would seem too presumptuous.

"I'm Tsukinose Vignette, living next door..."

"I'm Kaede, Hachiman's childhood friend. This is my younger sister, Suzu..."

Vignette and Kaede also quickly introduced themselves. Quiet and reserved, Suzu allowed her sister to handle the introductions.

"Yes, thanks to Gabriel-senpai and Yuina-senpai helping me clean up the room today, once it's properly ventilated, I can move in tonight," Shion explained after everyone had exchanged greetings.

"Is it next to my place?" Vignette suddenly remembered that Shion's rental location hadn't been confirmed yet and asked from the kitchen entrance.

"Of course, with Shion living next to you, I can rest assured," Hachiman said, glancing at Vignette, who had already rolled up her sleeves. Smiling, he continued, "Vignette, you all take a break. Gabriel and I can handle the cooking."

"That wouldn't feel right... Doing nothing at all…" Vignette hesitated, already feeling a bit bad about freeloading, and now doing nothing while eating dinner would make her even more uneasy.

"Then, when Komachi comes back with the groceries, you can take over for Gabriel. For now, just relax," Hachiman suggested, glancing at the petite, blonde angel Gabriel.

Though both Vignette and Gabriel were small and slim, fitting together without a problem, their current relationship was strictly platonic. Any vague closeness between them wasn't likely to help increase goodwill.

"Alright, then I'll help out in the kitchen later," Vignette agreed, relieved that she wouldn't just be freeloading the meal.

"Come on, let's play some games for now, and then help out later!" Yuina quickly pulled Vignette to sit with them, hoping to recruit another member for their team to support little Hachiman and strategize on winning over Gabriel.

"Just classmates? That doesn't seem quite right…" Kaede glanced at the group playing games on the sofa, then at Gabriel and Hachiman cooking together in the kitchen, narrowing her eyes slightly.

'Since when did Hachiman get along so well with others? Shion's situation wasn't even his responsibility, and yet a simple mention of needing help brought all these people over?'

'Something is off!'

Suzu silently observed her sister, who had finally started to notice the unusual circumstances, with a hint of satisfaction in her calm eyes.

"Gabriel, take a break. Vignette and I will continue cooking."

Komachi soon returned with a bicycle basket full of groceries and two large bottles of drinks. Flustered from being roped into Yuina's group discussion about strategies to win over Gabriel, Shion quickly ran out to help carry the groceries.

Since there were so many people today—not just Yuina and her friends, but also Gabriel, Vignette, and the Kaede sisters—they all decided to stay for dinner. Including the three from Hachiman's household, there were a total of ten people dining together tonight.

Apart from school trips, Komachi herself had never eaten with so many people, let alone Hachiman.

Still, there were many close female acquaintances of his who weren't present today.

Thinking about members of the Service Club like Saki Hayase, or the elven princess sisters Iris and Aegus, Hachiman was somewhat astonished.

Unknowingly, he had formed close relationships with so many girls. Aside from gaining some abilities to protect himself, his current life wasn't drastically different from before.

Except for that one incident near the school with the delinquent Kenichiro Miwa, he hadn't deliberately shown his abilities. In fact, if he hadn't wanted the task rewards so urgently, he could have resolved the issue with Sanrin in another way.

What caused such a significant change?

Reflecting on it, Hachiman felt that his transition from a socially isolated "loser" to someone surrounded by many girls was likely due to a change in mindset.

Even though his personality hadn't changed much before and after awakening his memories, knowing so much about others' personalities, experiences, and even "future" developments gave him an information advantage and control over situations.

Take Ichinose Ayano's teacher-student relationship problem, for instance. He didn't even need direct evidence; a single email to Ayano's father could address the matter.

However, whether the subsequent developments were good or bad remained to be seen.

After all, Ayano's father, a politician, wasn't detailed in the original work. Whether he would stupidly try to buy Hachiman's silence with money was anyone's guess.

"Isn't it my turn to help now? Why don't you take a break while I cook with Gabriel-senpai?"

Seeing that Komachi had already returned with the groceries, Vignette promptly volunteered to help in the kitchen.

As a devil, albeit an intern one, how could she freeload from an ordinary human?

She insisted on contributing her labor, so she could wholeheartedly enjoy the delicious dinner Hachiman prepared.

"Vignette, wait a bit longer. Let me finish with this fish first,"Hachiman replied, exasperated by her persistence.

How could someone be so eager to help? And a devil at that?

Hachiman figured that leaving any of Vignette's living expenses intact was already a mercy from hell.

But to Vignette, how much living expenses she had was irrelevant to her willingness to do good deeds. At most, she would be too busy with part-time jobs to help others when she was out of money.

"Hikigaya-san, are you and Tsukinose-san very close?" Gabriel asked curiously, glancing at Vignette, who stood behind them.

'Addressing each other by name so easily?'

'Isn't it a custom in Japan to avoid casually using someone's name?'

She had only recently transferred here, and as an intern devil, Vignette's situation should be similar.

It was said that the current angel and devil intern systems were implemented after the great war. Whatever dealings heaven and hell had, they managed to send young angels and devils to the same world for training.

"Uh, since Vignette is also a student at Sobu High like us and happens to be moving near my place, we'll often go to and from school together. To avoid unnecessary formality in daily interactions, we decided to call each other by our names. Besides, Vignette isn't Japanese," Hachiman explained after some thought.

His initial intention was to make Vignette comfortable with him and Kaede addressing her that way. Using intimate terms would avoid creating a sense of distance. To develop deeper feelings with a devil as virtuous as an angel, one had to work on such small details.

"Is that all?" Gabriel hesitated, looking at Vignette suspiciously.

Hachiman's explanation made it seem like his relationship with Vignette was very ordinary. Yet, here was this devil at his home cooking, with her rented place conveniently next door, ensuring frequent interactions.

Could her guess be correct? Was this devil seducing Hachiman?

With his strong vitality, which even the elven princess Iris found appealing, it wasn't surprising for Gabriel to notice. To a regular succubus, Hachiman's vitality might only seem especially delicious.

But considering his altruistic and selfless nature, his soul must be pure and noble. If Vignette were a devil with special ambitions, she might indeed want to tempt him into corruption.

With this thought, Hachiman's situation appeared exceedingly dangerous.

Not only was he struggling internally, but there was also a devil watching him from the side, waiting for him to fall.

"Actually, Hachiman and I are already friends now. So no matter what, using names is perfectly fine," Vignette interrupted Gabriel's train of thought, correcting Hachiman's explanation.

Unaware that Gabriel was already imagining her seducing Hachiman, Vignette noticed Gabriel's inquisitive gaze and clarified.

Being a devil, it was easy to recognize Gabriel as an angel at a glance, just as Gabriel had identified her as a devil. Knowing that Gabriel was also an intern made Vignette realize the curiosity was likely about her relationship with Hachiman.

Initially, she had been confused about the discrepancies between her learned knowledge and reality. Back then, she had agreed to use first names somewhat reluctantly.

However, after accompanying Kaede and Suzu after school, patrolling the campus with Kaede and the disciplinary committee, she came to realize that Kaede was indeed a wonderful and worthy friend.

As Kaede's childhood friend, Hachiman, who was always willing to help others in need, was likely busy with Service Club duties. He didn't even have time to walk home with Kaede after school.

While personality and character alone might not justify befriending someone, Vignette felt that the comfort she felt being around Hachiman, Kaede, and Suzu was more than enough.

"Friends… So, Hikigaya-san, may I also call you Hachiman?"
