Dimensional Journey Starting from Douluo Dalu

Chapter 27: Chapter 27: Absorbing the King of Immortal Herbs, Martial Soul Evolution

At the junction of the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well, three thousand meters below the cliff behind it, a golden-red lotus bloomed proudly within a patch of violet soil.

Its colors were dazzling and radiant, like the most brilliant clouds at sunrise, or the golden shimmer dancing across the sea at sunset. It glowed with an aura of boundless wisdom.

Astonishingly, at the very center of this lotus grew a ten-centimeter-tall Bodhi Tree. Its trunk was crystal-clear, as if sculpted from pure crystal. Its lush green leaves shimmered faintly with a red glow, blending perfectly with the lotus—so harmoniously that it exuded a sense of wholeness and unity.

This was none other than the King of Immortal Herbs—the Enlightenment Bodhi Flower.

The Bodhi Tree has long been a symbol of awakening and wisdom. Legend says that Buddha Shakyamuni sat beneath such a tree for forty-nine days, eventually achieving supreme enlightenment and ultimate truth.

Now, the tree grew atop a golden-red lotus, complementing it perfectly and magnifying the brilliance of wisdom, truth, and enlightenment to its highest degree.

From root to petal, from stem to leaf, the Enlightenment Bodhi Flower radiated a soft yet radiant light. Not just a visual brilliance—but a cleansing and awakening of the soul.

Under its glow, Wu Tong seemed to hear the faint sound of chanting sutras and felt as if he were comprehending the deepest truths of wisdom itself.

Wu Tong gazed at the flower, then glanced up at the sky—it was still daytime, so there was no rush. He sat cross-legged beside it and began to circulate his soul power.

The pattern of his Heart Eye technique lit up on his forehead, and he aimed it directly at the Enlightenment Bodhi Flower.

Heart Eye: Perspective.

Heart Eye: Insight.

As the Heart Eye glowed faintly, the internal structure of the immortal herb became crystal-clear before Wu Tong's eyes.

Completely immersed in his study of the herb, Wu Tong failed to notice a faint golden light silently drifting from the flower. Following his gaze, it entered through the center of his forehead.

Once inside his spiritual sea, the golden light darted about wildly before colliding with a white light point—and was instantly devoured.

After absorbing the golden light, that white point of light stirred to life as though awakened. Like a husky freed from its chains, it began to frolic and rampage across Wu Tong's spiritual sea.

Moments later, it scattered white powder throughout the space, gradually dyeing Wu Tong's entire spiritual sea in white.

The powder was then absorbed into the sea itself, causing it to expand.

As the white powder merged with his consciousness, Wu Tong felt his mind become sharper, his thoughts faster—as if his brain had been fitted with a high-speed processor.

"Huh? Just observing the Enlightenment Bodhi Flower can make me smarter?" Wu Tong was stunned, sensing the change in his mental acuity. He quickly sighed in admiration.

"No wonder this thing is linked to the Buddha's enlightenment. It really is miraculous."

He focused even more intently on the radiant flower before him, basking in its glow of wisdom.

As the saying goes: When you focus deeply on something, time flies.

Unbeknownst to him, while he was studying the structure of the flower, time slipped by unnoticed. Before long, night had fallen.

Suddenly, Wu Tong felt a vibration on his wrist. Looking down, he saw that his timekeeping soul tool was shaking uncontrollably—midnight had arrived.

Lifting his head, he saw the full moon high in the sky. Round and flawless like a carefully polished jade disc, it shone with soft, clear light. It hung quietly above the heavens, without a single blemish—so perfect it took one's breath away.

"A full moon night?" Wu Tong muttered, raising a brow as if something had clicked in his mind.

Looking down again, he saw that the previously half-closed petals of the Enlightenment Bodhi Flower were now fully blooming, radiating a magnificent golden light.

"It's… matured? That's way too convenient…" Wu Tong stared in disbelief.

He had confidence in his wisdom and spiritual alignment, but even so, he had planned to wait a few more months for it to ripen. His expression grew solemn.

Coincidences like this… were rarely just coincidences.

Wu Tong knew—if something could influence the blooming of a divine herb, there were only two likely culprits: either the will of the world itself, or the Buddha whose power extended across dimensions.

But no matter who was behind it, Wu Tong had no ability to resist. At his current level, he wasn't even a chess piece on the board—just a speck of dust.

There's a saying: If you can't resist, then enjoy it.

'Maybe… it really is just a coincidence?'

With that slightly naive hope, Wu Tong reached out toward the Enlightenment Bodhi Flower.

Prepared to accept the test from the King of Immortal Herbs—

Pop!

A soft noise, like a radish being plucked from soil, echoed.

The Enlightenment Bodhi Flower came loose without resistance and quietly lay in Wu Tong's palm.

Watching the scene before him, Wu Tong was practically on the verge of tears. If the strange timing of the herb's maturity earlier could still be passed off as coincidence, then this… this was clearly something else. Not even a trial? How could this not be scripted?

But Wu Tong knew that his opinion couldn't sway whatever great power was behind this. All he could do now was absorb the immortal herb, complete his martial soul evolution, and then take things one step at a time.

Without dwelling on it further, Wu Tong followed the instructions in the Complete Compendium of Immortal Herbs. He first plucked the Bodhi Tree from the center of the flower and placed it above his head.

Then he swallowed the golden-red lotus petals one by one. After finishing them, he used soul power to crush the remaining base of the flower, extracting its golden-red juice.

This liquid, known as Bodhi Blood, wasn't some hidden weapon like Tang San's—it referred to the essence of the Enlightenment Bodhi Flower, its lifeblood. Wu Tong swallowed it all in one go and tossed aside the leftovers.

Then he sat cross-legged and began circulating his Crimson Wheel Heart Sutra, refining the petals and Bodhi Blood within his body.

As his soul power moved, the Bodhi Tree above his head began to float, hovering gently in the air.

With Wu Tong's cultivation underway, the tree began releasing strands of translucent energy, as clear and radiant as crystal.

Time passed bit by bit. Wu Tong's aura grew increasingly intense. As each strand of energy entered his head, it was devoured by the white light point in his spiritual sea—greedily, endlessly.

When he had fully refined the petals and Bodhi Blood, the Bodhi Tree above him squeezed out the last drop of its energy.

The white light point consumed it, then suddenly erupted with a massive surge of power. But instead of harming Wu Tong, this energy wrapped around him—condensing, crystallizing—until it formed a massive white light cocoon that enveloped him completely.

Once the cocoon formed, the white light point began to fuse with Wu Tong's martial soul.

Only the glowing cocoon remained, suspended mid-air, absorbing the energy of the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well and the natural world to reconstruct Wu Tong's body.

Inside the cocoon, Wu Tong felt incomparably comfortable. He closed his eyes and instinctively curled up like an unborn child returning to the womb, floating serenely in the center of the light.

Elsewhere.

Dugu Yan opened her soft, bright eyes.

Feeling the immense power surging within her after refining the immortal herb, her delicate lips curved into a satisfied smile.

She moved her stiff limbs, then activated her soul power.

As her cultivation surged, a new martial soul appeared behind her.

Under the mysterious night sky, a massive black twin-headed dragon slowly emerged.

Its body stretched dozens of meters long, covered in black scales as deep and vast as the night sky. Each scale seemed to absorb all surrounding light, making the dragon nearly invisible in darkness. Only under faint moonlight or starlight could one glimpse the shimmering energy flowing between its scales.

Each of the dragon's two heads had distinct traits.

The left was ferocious and terrifying, its crimson-purple eyes filled with madness and cunning. A dark green crystal nestled between its horns—clearly the evolved form of the Jade Phosphor Serpent.

The right head, in contrast, was solemn and composed, exuding a calm and commanding pressure. A yellow-brown crystal glowed at its crown, and its amber eyes held the steadiness unique to earth-type beings—this was the will of the Earth Dragon Golden Melon.

The black dragon's body twisted and coiled with tremendous power. Every movement shook the air. Its limbs were thick and muscular, its claws sharp enough to tear through stone and wood with ease. Its tail was like a black steel whip—deadly in battle and perfectly balanced in flight.

Looking at the majestic, powerful dragon before her, Dugu Yan couldn't help but nod in deep satisfaction.

"Haha, Yan'er, so this is your evolved martial soul?"

Dugu Bo had also completed his own martial soul evolution and arrived at the wooden house.

Seeing the black dragon in front of her, his eyes shone with pride as he praised, "Impressive. I'd say this now ranks among the most elite of top-tier martial souls."
