Dimensional Quest: I Got Reincarnated Into My Trashy Fanfic

Chapter 59: 'How many innocent people did I hurt?'

April 5th, 2015, 9:00 AM

David was laying on his bed in his boxer briefs--unconscious, sweaty, and breathing heavily. His face was contorted in pain, but he had yet to open his eyes.

All of the girls were busy with some sort of task they were either assigned to by Marin or assigned to by themselves.

Marin was on David's right side and was caressing his hair and continuously wiping the sweat from his body. Mio was holding on to David's left hand tight while using her free hand to subconsciously play with David's crystallized gem of blood that was hanging from her web-like choker.

Yoruichi was at the door standing guard, both making sure David and the two women stayed safe as well as monitoring David for any abrupt changes. She didn't think she could do many things that Marin or Mio couldn't do, but her conscience kept nagging at her to stay by their side.

Sofia and Tomoe were pacing around downstairs in the living room as they kept their eyes out for any of the so-called 'threats' that Kurumi mentioned yesterday.

Shiki was caught in the collapse of a bookstore he was at, but he came out injury-free despite taking heavy blows from falling debris as he saved all of the other patrons of the bookstore. When he finally made it back to the penthouse, he was told what happened and was assigned the task of informing Toa and having her look after Komoe for the day until David was better.

Marin didn't want Komoe to worry about her Papa so she just had Shiki tell Komoe that Papa and all of the Mamas would be spending the entire day together alone.

Komoe had felt giddy as she thought about all of her parents getting along and loving each other, though her idea of love was quite tame and innocent.

*diiiing doooong~!*

The doorbell to the penthouse rang and everyone tensed up.

Upstairs, Marin, Mio, and Yoruichi shifted their bodies to face the bedroom door and window in case anything happened.

Downstairs, Sofia walked over to the balcony and grabbed the sword she brought back from the Cradle and prepared for a potential fight.

Tomoe was wearing her usual outfit with the pink kimono and had her katana strapped to her waist. She rested her hand on the katana, ready to draw it, as she slowly opened the door.

"!!!"

Shouko Komi looked startled when she saw Tomoe's hostile and wary expression as she opened the door.

She was about to start writing in her notebook, but Tomoe quickly pulled her inside.

『 Tomoe (Feudal Fangirl): All clear, it's just Komi-dono. 』

"Sorry for scaring you, Komi-dono. We're all on edge right now and aren't sure if someone will try to hurt the young master or not," Tomoe said as she relaxed her grip on her katana.

Despite knowing that David had established a protective barrier around Roselia Heights previously, nobody wanted to let their guards down and get taken by surprise.

Shouko looked startled and hurriedly scribbled in her notebook.

*scribble scribble scribble*

*"Why would someone try to hurt David? Where is he? Is he okay? Can I see him?"*

She was worried that her first friend might have gotten injured in the earthquake yesterday and decided to check on him first thing in the morning when she worked up enough courage.

While the earthquake was strong and destructive, there were no big aftershocks and Roselia Heights was completely untouched, thanks to the protective barriers created by David as well as Sawa.

Even still, Shouko was worried about David because she hadn't heard his inner voice at all since yesterday afternoon.

"I'm sure he would like to see you, but he isn't conscious right now. Plus, if he does get attacked and you're here when it happens, the young master would never forgive himself if something were to happen to his friends."

*scribble scribble scribble*

*"I don't care about the danger. David is my friend and I would like to see him."*

Tomoe smirked a little, but shook her head anyway. "I admire your recklessness, but the answer is still no. He'll be fine by tomorrow morning and I'll be sure to tell him you came to see him."

Shouko stared at Tomoe for a moment as she tried to find words to say, but eventually accepted the fact that she wasn't welcome here at this time, though she knew it was only because of the potential danger.

She bowed to Tomoe and swiftly left the penthouse.

"I like that girl," Sofia said with a smile as she set her sword against the wall.

"Umu, Komi-dono is a sweet girl and it seems that she's the type who would do anything for her friends. I have a feeling that even if I told her that the young master was trapped in a pit, she would jump in with him for no reason other than to keep him company."

"I can see that..."

Sofia and Tomoe began their tension-filled 'patrol' once more.

"Hey, I wasn't there to hear what that Kurumi girl had to say, but are you sure that someone's gonna try to attack David?" Sofia asked, wishing she could stop standing guard so she could trade spots with Marin or Mio.

"I don't know for sure, but it sounded like there was a chance of it happening. We only need to do this until tomorrow morning so don't complain."

"I'm not complaining, I just want to make sure we're not wasting our time. I'd prefer to be laying in bed with David or at least being able to see him. I dunno, I'm just freaking out a little and don't want anything to happen to him."

Tomoe tried hard not to scoff and said, "We decided that Marin and Mio would be the ones to tend to him. It's not like you'd try anything with the young master anyway, you had all of yesterday morning to test your luck, but you just hid in the living room."

"That's because I didn't want to get in Shouko's way."

"...And I'm sure you believe that. Anyway, let's just focus on our tasks for now. If there's even the tiniest possibility that Kurumi was right, I want to be ready."

Sofia grumbled, but knew that what Tomoe said was right. She decided that she'd take out her frustrations on any intruders and if there are none, she'd go to the Tower later to do a Challenge Zone to blow off some steam.

10 minutes later...

*diiiing doooong~!*

The girls all prepared themselves once more as Tomoe went to open the door.

Standing in front of the door to David's penthouse were two beautiful women whose looks made Tomoe grind her teeth in envy. Well, more specifically it was their chest sizes...

One of them was a 168 cm tall woman with her long, dark pink hair tied up in a high ponytail with a black ribbon. She was wearing an orange zip-up tracksuit jacket that was slightly unzipped to reveal her I-cup cleavage underneath, along with matching rolled up orange tracksuit pants and pink flip flops.

The other was a 169 cm tall woman with long dark blue hair that reached her hips. She was wearing a white lab coat over a tight-fitting pink blouse with a deep neckline that reveals her K-cup cleavage, paired with a short dark brown skirt and black 2-inch high heels. On her neck was a silver necklace with a small eye-shaped pendant.

The blue-haired woman smiled gently at Tomoe while the dark pink-haired woman just looked slightly irritated.

"Hey, Tokisaki-chan told me to come here and watch over Star-kun," the dark pink-haired woman said abruptly.

Tomoe gripped the hilt of her katana tighter as she narrowed her eyes at the women.

"I don't know who this 'Tokisaki-chan' is, but nobody needs to see the young master. Two of his wives are already doing a perfectly fine job already, thank you..."

She started to close the door, but the dark pink-haired woman stuck her foot forward and stopped the door from closing.

"I'm just doing what I was told. Tokisaki-chan is Kurumi Tokisaki and I was told someone here would know her."

Tomoe didn't loosen her grip on her weapon just because she was told a familiar name.

"Isn't it polite to introduce yourself first, woman?" Sofia growled from behind, gripping her sword tighter as she walked toward the trio.

Before the dark pink-haired woman could get any more annoyed, the dark blue-haired woman put a hand on her shoulder and giggled, "Ufufu~, I apologize on her behalf. Tokisaki-chan yelled at her a lot yesterday so she's a little upset. My name is Aki Nijou and this Minori Rokujou."

『 Tomoe (Feudal Fangirl): Did the young master ever mention Aki Nijou or Minori Rokujou? They're here and say that Kurumi sent them over. 』

『 Marin Kitagawa (Foxy Otaku): Yeah, I remember when he was fighting the Hollows last week, he mentioned Aki Nijou being a school nurse and Minori Rokujou being the principal. 』

『 Tomoe (Feudal Fangirl): So they're safe to let in? 』

『 Marin Kitagawa (Foxy Otaku): If the way David mentioned them is anything to go by, I think they're fine. 』

Tomoe stood in silence for a few moments as she traded information with Marin, but finally released the hold on her weapon.

"Aki Nijou the school nurse and Minori Rokujou the principal?"

"Ufu~, that's right. Minori-chan was told by Tokisaki-chan to monitor Star-kun as a punishment for letting Mika-chan go out of control. I was concerned about a future student so I tagged along to see if Star-kun is healthy," Aki said with that gentle smile still plastered on her beautiful face.

"The young master is unconscious and in pain, but apparently he's healthy. You don't need to touch him," Tomoe said as she stepped to the side, allowing Aki and Minori to enter.

Sofia glared at Minori, but backed down.

"I'm going to take them up to check on the young master. You just stay down here," Tomoe commanded.

"Fine... But keep a watch on that fiery woman, I don't trust her," Sofia said, not caring in the slightest that Minori could hear her.

Tomoe wanted to laugh, but had to maintain her serious demeanor.

⟪ This fucking hurts! ⟫

As Tomoe was about to lead Aki and Minori upstairs, everyone in the penthouse heard David's pain through his inner voice.

"David/young master!" Sofia and Tomoe called out simultaneously, leaving their post and rushing up the stairs without caring about Aki and Minori behind them.

Aki looked over at Minori and giggled, "Ufufu~, see? It isn't just us and a few girls at the academy who can hear it, it seems like they can, too. Do you still think it's some weird attack directed at us?"

Minori shrugged slightly as she quickly followed behind Tomoe and Sofia.

"Ufufu~," Aki giggled again as she went along with the others.

...

Just a moment ago, David regained consciousness.

The first thing he noticed was the intense pain he felt throughout his entire body.

The second thing he noticed was his inability to move, speak, or even open his eyes.

⟪ This fucking hurts! ⟫

He could tell that Marin and Mio were near him, but he couldn't hear anything other than the ringing in his ears as if he had tinnitus.

David wished he could at least grunt in pain, but all he could do was silently deal with the pain.

He suddenly felt the presence of Tomoe approaching, but he couldn't do anything about it.

⟪ What the fuck even happened to put me in this situation? I can feel my wives nearby, but I can't touch, see, hear, speak, or even move. And this pain is making it hard to fucking think! ⟫

⟪ I can't even circulate mana or Reiryoku. Am I going to be stuck like this forever? ⟫

David started panicking as he tried to recall what happened the day before.

He remembered having a nice workout, eating breakfast, making lunch with Shouko, going to the grocery store in disguise... and then meeting a girl named Mika who heavily implied that she was Mikayla.

⟪ Mikayla... Or is she actually Mika now? Why was it that I suddenly thought of her and ran into her in the same day? How is she here? How did she know it was me? And what happened after I got lost in my memories...? ⟫

[...id!]

David started to hear Chaos-chan's voice behind all the ringing.

[David!]

'It's about time you showed up. Where the hell were you yesterday?'

[My body had fully formed and I was syncing up with it... I only saw what happened when you were getting tackled, but I figured I would just confuse you if I tried saying anything at that time.]

David felt like Chaos-chan was hiding something, but didn't have the patience nor did he really care to try and argue with her about it. He knows she wouldn't do anything that would hurt him so if she's hiding something, he would just let it go.

'...Can you at least tell me what happened?'

[Yes, but I don't want you to freak out.]

'I'd prefer to let myself freak out so I can focus on something other than this ridiculous fucking pain.'

[I suppose that's fair... First, let me tell you that this pain and lack of senses isn't the worst case scenario and it'll be over by tomorrow morning. The pain will go away as if it never existed in the first place and you'll feel better than ever.]

'What would be the worst case scenario? And what would be the best?'

[Uh... Worst case scenario, you'd be bleeding out of every pore on your body as you adapt to the stronger cells that are being created. Best case scenario, you'd just be in extreme pain all day, but you'd have control over all of your senses still.]

'If I could shudder, I totally would...'

[Yeah, I'm glad things are only this bad. Anyway, Mikayla--or Mika--triggered a traumatic moment in your past life that was linked to you, her, and Kurumi. When Kurumi brought Mika's existence over to this reality, she had to create a link between you three so that Mika would have all of her memories and what you saw was that linked moment.]

'...I'm sorry, maybe I'm too stupid to understand.'

[I can't go into full detail or Kurumi really will kill me, but just know that you meeting Mika before Kurumi gave the green light messed you up. When you lost yourself in your memories, it triggered some of the growth you were supposed to get when you broke through the second seal. That premature growth caused you to lose control of every energy you can manipulate and caused you to become the epicenter of a 6.8 magnitude earthquake. Now every cell in your body is destroying and reconstructing itself, becoming stronger each time.]

David was stunned, not just because of the withheld information, but because he accidentally caused an earthquake.

'The fuck...? That sounds like a big number for an earthquake. How much damage did I do?'

[Everything within 50 kilometers shook like crazy while it slowly got less intense the further out it went. Roads cracked, buildings were destroyed, there are power outages, water lines burst, etc... People all over the country felt it, but the damage was centralized in Tokyo.]

Feeling a metaphorical chill run up his spine, David asked a question he didn't think he'd ever have to ask.

'How many innocent people did I hurt?'

[...You'll definitely freak out if I tell you.]

'Just answer me...'

[Haaa... 362 people died, 4,085 people were seriously injured and 12,913 people had minor injuries...]

'...'

David sat in silence for a minute as he thought about how he killed and injured so many innocent people.

[David, this wasn't your fault. One moment you're trying to calm down a random girl and the next moment, you lost control of your powers. You couldn't have predicted that something like that would happen nor could you control it.]

'...That doesn't change the fact that I hurt innocent people. I torture people that hurt innocents, but what did I do? Don't I deserve the same punishment as the others? Shouldn't I shove myself into a Land of Repentance with the others?'

David's mind was starting to spiral out of control and he started to enjoy the excruciating pain he was feeling, treating it as the smallest form of retribution.

[You can't blame yourself, David. This is why I didn't want to tell you...]

'...'

⟪ I hurt and killed innocent people... Should I blame myself even though I wasn't conscious and lost control of my powers? Should I blame Mika for accidentally triggering the incident? Should I blame Kurumi for making such a fragile link or whatever it was? Who can I blame? Who can the families of the victims blame? ⟫

[David, stop thinking that way.]

⟪ Should I throw myself into a pit of blades to repent? Should I make a time chamber where one-thousand years inside are only a single second outside and lock myself away to serve consecutive life sentences? ⟫

[Stop it! This is you freaking out!]

⟪ Or maybe I should erase my knowledge of the incident entirely? I could take away my emotions again so I don't feel guilty anymore... But if I did that, I wouldn't be able to feel love for my family anymore either. They don't deserve that... I find it funny that I can easily torture people I deem trash like that hero and princess, but then I feel sick just thinking about accidentally killing innocent people. Shouldn't people be either for or against killing? Morals sure are a tricky thing... ⟫

...

When Tomoe, Sofia, Minori, and Aki arrived in David's room, Tomoe was the first to rush to the bed to check if David was alright.

Unfortunately, they all quickly found out that David couldn't do anything other than lie there in pain.

"Is there nothing we can do for the young master?" Tomoe asked, instinctively looking at Marin.

Marin was panicking inside, but she kept telling herself that as the first wife--even if she was much younger and less mature than Tomoe or Mio--she had to stay calm in moments like this.

"I don't know. You heard the same thing I did when Kurumi spoke. She just said he'd be in pain until morning. Her whole existence is confusing as hell and I don't know what her connection to David is, but she clearly cares about him. If she had a way to ease his pain, I'm sure she would've told us," Marin said.

"May I try? I don't know if I can help, but I specialize in healing," Aki offered.

Marin turned to look at Aki and Minori for the first time. The first thing she noticed? Their very large breasts.

[Marin] '...Tch... I'll probably get that big eventually after having more sex with David...'

"What are you going to do? I'd rather not let some random woman touch my hubby without his permission."

Aki smiled gently and pointed at the eye-shaped pendant on her necklace.

"Star-kun seems to know about Maken, but has he explained them to you yet?"

"Just call him David, he prefers it that way. I'm Marin Kitagawa, but you can call me Marin. And no, he hasn't told me what a Maken is."

"Very well, Marin-chan. I'm Aki Nijou, a nurse at Hoshinoumi Academy's Tenbi School. A Maken is basically a crafted weapon or artifact that channels your Element--that spiritual energy everyone has inside."

"Some Maken are external, like swords or gloves, and others are internal, enhancing what's inside your body. They let us focus and use our energy in powerful ways."

"Mine is called Valhelm. It lets me scan a person's body and any injuries will light up with a dark glow. The darker the glow, the more severe the injury. I'd like to scan David-kun and, if there's anything I can treat, try healing it with my Elemental energy."

Marin tilted her head in confusion. "How many types of energy are there? There's mana, Reiryoku, and now Element? Or Elemental energy? Are these not the same thing?"

Minori chimed in as she said, "Different groups of people can wield different energies. From what we can tell, the source of these energies are all the same, but the energies themselves are all different."

"I see. Sorry for getting distracted, Aki. What do you need in order to use your Maken?" Marin asked.

"I just need to see his entire body so we can see the glow better."

"...Are you sure you don't just want to see my hubby's naked body?"

Aki's cheeks flushed pink as she gently tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. She gave Marin a small, embarrassed smile and lowered her gaze.

"N-no… I promise I'm only interested in David-kun's condition. My job as a nurse is to help him get better," she said softly, voice trembling slightly.

Marin thought for a moment, but since she didn't detect any hostile intentions from Aki, she let her do her thing.

"Mio, get back a bit and give Aki enough room," Marin said as she pulled David's underwear off and tossed them off to the side.

Mio kept quiet as she let go of David's hand and backed away.

Minori lost her cranky attitude when she looked at David's little brother and Aki tried to keep her composure, though they both had their mouths agape.

[Minori & Aki] 'Big...'

Aki quickly recovered from her shock and walked up to the edge of the bed.

She focused on her job and activated Valhelm. The eye-shaped pendant glowed as it started to find the injuries on David's body.

To everyone's shock, David's entire body glowed solid black.

"This...."

"What? Is it as bad as it looks?" Marin asked.

"Every single part of David-kun's body is injured. The pain he is experiencing must be torture...," Aki explained.

Before Aki could start healing David, his inner voice sounded once more.

When the girls heard what David said, they all felt mixed emotions.

Marin, Mio, Tomoe, and Sofia felt their hearts ache as they heard the anguish in David's voice.

Yoruichi felt sympathetic as she hoped David wouldn't blame himself.

Aki and Minori didn't know David, but they both felt sad as they could understand what David must be feeling.

In a neighboring penthouse suite, Mika was crying with her face in her pillow as she felt incredibly guilty for what she did.

The other girls across the worlds who could hear David's inner voice felt much the same as the others, but Kurumi felt it even more deeply. She was terrified that David might hate her.

Though Kurumi could rewind time and even bring back the dead, doing so on such a massive scale would affect David too. And because of his unique existence, tampering with his time could disrupt the changes in his body--possibly causing unpredictable and dangerous consequences.

So, all she could do was let the dead rest... and pray that David could carry the weight without turning that hatred toward her--or worse, toward himself.

As the girls listened to David continue falling deeper into a pit of self-loathing, their emotions continued to intensify.

"Is there a way to knock him unconscious again so he doesn't make himself crazy?" Yoruichi asked, starting to feel more uncomfortable the more she listened to David.

"*sniff* Ahem... I don't think so. If that was an option, I'm sure Kurumi would have said something," Marin replied, wiping the tears from her eyes and trying to keep her 'first wife' composure.

Tomoe and Mio were no better, feeling their sadness increasing each time David spoke.

"I really don't know who Kurumi is and I don't care, but she's not here and you guys are. It's a bit irritating to hear you keep mentioning her as if she's in charge of David," Sofia said.

Feeling the tension in the room starting to rise, Aki gently placed her hands on David's body and decided to try her hand at healing him.

A soft glow emanated from her hands as she poured her healing Element into him, easing some of the darkness on David's body.

However, before Aki could feel relieved, David's body instantly reverted back to its previous pitch-black glow.

"What in the world is happening to his body...," Aki muttered.

⟪ Hm? Is someone trying to heal me? Haha, sorry, but that won't work. With my cells breaking down and reconstructing themselves constantly, healing will do nothing but help clear my mind... Still, that was a good feeling. It felt like the gentle hands of a big sister were holding me in her comforting embrace. It was nice... ⟫

Aki's confusion turned into relief as she realized that she was able to provide some sort of comfort to her future student.

"Aki, keep healing him!" Marin shouted excitedly.

"Right!"

The beautiful nurse started healing David again, continuously pouring her healing Element into his body.

⟪ Ahhh, this is wonderful. It's like a mix between excruciating pain and a hint of pleasure. Is this what Mio feels? No, I'm sure she feels a lot more pleasure from the pain. Haaa, I certainly do love my masochistic spider wife. ⟫

"Pfft, hahaha!" Mio felt the pain in her heart lessen slightly as she started laughing with tears still falling down her face.

David's returning humor made the tension within the girls loosen and the ones in the room all felt grateful toward Aki for her efforts.

"Aki, how long can you continue?" Marin asked with a hopeful expression.

"About five minutes before I need to take a break to recover..."

"Five minutes... Any relief is better than none, so could I ask you to heal him as long as possible?"

"Of course. I don't know David-kun, but from everything I've heard from him, he seems like a nice young man," Aki said with her trademark gentle smile.

Yoruichi crossed her arms and leaned back against the wall with one leg propped up behind her.

"I don't know why I'm not surprised anymore."

Tomoe looked back and asked, "What do you mean, Yoruichi?"

"I mean they're two beautiful women from another franchise so I'm not surprised that they can also hear David's inner voice."

"Who all can hear it? There are some students that have shown signs of being able to hear it as well and I thought David was somebody who was plotting against the school at first, but if it's not limited to our school then I'll have to admit I was wrong about him," Minori said, now feeling a little guilty over how she thought of David.

"I know of at least three other girls from different franchises that have nothing to do with each other that can hear hubby's inner voice. I can say for sure that he isn't targeting anyone with it nor does he know that others can hear it," Marin explained.

The girls in the room chose to focus their attention on an easier topic to distract themselves from their worry about David.

While they were talking, Marin got a few texts on her smartphone so she pulled it out to see who it was.

--Kuroneko--

David is fine now.

Me and a few other people are talking to him and it seems like whatever or whoever is healing him has caused him to calm down.

Whatever you're doing over there, just keep it up. He said he'll be fine by morning and is just accepting the pain as some sort of punishment...

--End--

Marin was excited to see Kuroneko finally texting her, but then got curious about how she's talking to David.

--Marin Kitagawa--

Thanks for texting me, Kuroneko.

We'll keep the healing going for as long as possible.

How are you talking to David?

--End--

--Kuroneko--

He has an ability called Sovereign's Link that works as a Dimensional Group Chat. I was lucky enough to get added as a member so I messaged him and asked if he was okay.

--End--

--Marin Kitagawa--

I see. I remember him randomly mentioning you so I suppose it was the group chat he was talking about.

Anyway, thanks for reaching out and just keep talking with him if you can.

--End--

As the girls chatted away, they started to relax more as Marin filled them in on the situation,

⟪ Cute. I should take Kuroneko as a wife... ⟫

and then they just shook their heads.

David was clearly going to be just fine...
