Chapter 63: "MARRY ME, STAR-KUN!"
As David and Marin were leaving the penthouse, they surprisingly didn't run into anybody else until they were out of the elevator and in the lobby.
"Shouko~!" Marin called out, pulling David with her as she rushed up to the silent beauty that stood like a statue at the building's entrance.
Before Shouko even looked at David and Marin, she began scribbling in her notebook.
*scribble scribble*
(A/N: I think we get the picture at this point so I'll just wrap Shouko's notes in *"these"* without the scribbles.)
She held up her notebook and finally got a look at her two friends.
*"Good morning, Marin. Good morning, David. I'm glad to see you're okay. I visited yesterday, but Tomoe-san said you were resting."*
"I'm sorry to have worried you, Shouko. I'm glad you came to see me. As you can see, I'm perfectly fine now, haha!" David laughed and flexed his arm to show he was healthy.
Shouko kept her notebook in the air as she stared at David with her expressionless face. She remained still without her body trembling in the slightest.
David was waiting for a response, but a few seconds passed without any movement.
"Shouko?" David called out.
"!!!"
Shouko jumped like a scared cat and hurriedly started scribbling in her notebook as a blush crept up her face.
*"Sorry, I got distracted. You look very handsome in your uniform."*
"Haha, thank you. You look quite beautiful in your uniform as well, Shouko," David said with a smile, admiring Shouko's uniform.
Unlike Marin's uniform with a cardigan, Shouko was wearing a dark blue blazer similar to David's with black stockings covering her entire legs and her skirt going down to just above her knees.
*"Thank you..."*
"Heheh~, do you want to go to school with us? We're on our way to the train station now!" Marin said excitedly.
Shouko looked at Marin for a few seconds before she quickly nodded her head with her eyes wide and soulful.
"Kyahaha~, awesome! We already picked up a friend!"
David just chuckled and shook his head.
"Alright alright, let's get going."
Shouko made an imperceptible, "Mm," in agreement before she followed them on David's right side, taking cautious peeks at him from the corners of her eyes.
The trio walked in peaceful silence for five minutes until they arrived at Ochanomizu Station.
They boarded a train to Akihabara before transferring to the JR Keihin–Tohoku Line southbound to Omori Station.
Once they got off the first train and were about to find the next one heading to Omori Station, David got stunned by the visuals of the people around him.
The area was packed full of students wearing the Hoshinoumi Academy uniform. However, the only reason David knew they were Hoshinoumi Academy uniforms was because of the badge on the students' chests.
Not everyone had the dark blue uniform that David, Marin, and Shouko were wearing. Some uniforms were entirely black with white details while others were a mix of navy blue and white with either green ties for the boys or red ribbons for the girls.
There were many different uniforms all around, but the Hoshinoumi Academy crest was clearly visible on everyone.
David quickly cast a barrier spell around Marin and Shouko before he whispered in their ears, "I put a barrier around you both so that nobody can touch you. I hope you don't mind, Shouko."
Shouko gave David a look that was supposed to be grateful, but it just came off as a cold stare.
"Um... Should I remove it?" David asked.
Shouko shook her head quickly.
"Haha, alright then. Let's get to our train."
Marin just kept smiling and held David's hand tighter as they stepped off the first train.
When David, Marin, and Shouko stepped out into the station, heads quickly turned to look at them.
The boys stared at David enviously while Marin and Shouko received similar stares from the girls.
David kept a calm smile on his face as he led the two girls to their next train and boarded it without trouble.
They were lucky enough to find empty seats and quickly sat down, preparing for the 23 minute train ride.
⟪ Whoever the Goddess of Luck is, I'm grateful as hell. With how packed the station was, I expected to be shielding the girls from perverts the whole ride to school. I wonder if I'll ever run into a pervert on the train? If I did, would I kill him? Beat him? Push him to the police? I think my habit of easily getting rid of bastards in the other world might start to affect me here if I don't think more carefully in the future... ⟫
Shouko wanted to ask David about what he did in the other world, but she couldn't write her questions. Thus, she could only resort to plan B.
Texting Marin on LINE.
Shouko stuck her nose into her phone and started texting Marin all of her questions, grateful to the cheery girl for exchanging contact information with her during lunch the other day.
Marin, seeing what Shouko was doing, smiled to herself and pulled out her phone as she prepared to have a fun conversation with Shouko.
David, being the respectful young man that he is, didn't bother peeking at either of their phones and started fantasizing about what a fun high school life might look like.
The train quickly became crowded with little space in-between people.
Confident in his barriers, David didn't pay any attention to the people boarding the train and chose to close his eyes to continue his unrealistic fantasizing.
Despite trains normally being somewhat quiet during transit, the train filled with rambunctious and excited students quickly became loud with friends catching up and others meeting for the first time.
It was only about 10 minutes into the train ride that David was brought out of his imagination.
The train shook and caused people to bump into each other, ultimately causing someone to fall into David's lap.
David opened his eyes and saw the shocked and flustered expression of a cute girl wearing the same uniform as Marin.
She had short blue hair with two red hairclips holding her bangs up above her left eye, offering a view of her innocent-looking purple eyes.
"Tch...," someone in the train clicked their tongue, but David was distracted by the girl in front of him.
⟪ Don't tell me... ⟫
"U-Um, I'm so sorry!" she said as she tried to stand up.
The train shook once more, making the girl fall even further into David's lap until she was practically sitting on it with her cute C-cup breasts pressing up against his chest.
"I-I'm really not doing this on purpose!"
David smiled wryly and gently helped the girl to stand up.
"It wasn't your fault, no need to get so flustered," he said.
"O-Okay... Um, I see you're also going to the Ichinose School at Hoshinoumi Academy as a first year. I am, too...!"
The girl looked incredibly nervous, but got her words out anyway.
"It appears you are. My name is David Star, it's nice to meet you," David said with a smile, hoping this new girl didn't belong to a troublesome franchise.
"Yes, it's nice to meet you, too! My name is Haruna Sairenji!" Haruna said with a smile.
⟪ ...Well shit. Maybe she's not the same Haruna Sairenji that looks exactly like this girl in front of me from the franchise 'To LOVE-Ru'... I have to admit that I'd love to meet Lala Satalin Deviluke in real life, but there were a bunch of assassins and other troublesome stuff in that franchise... Or maybe Haruna is the only one in that franchise that exists in this world... Yeah, let's go with that, heheh. ⟫
"Ahem, once again, it's nice to meet you, Haruna. You can just call me David. I won't bite so don't worry, you can relax."
Haruna tried to take a deep breath and nod, but the train shook once again, causing people to bump into her.
However, this time, someone in the crowd pulled Haruna from behind to keep her from falling before their hand slithered back into the crowd.
"...?"
David looked confused, but figured this was an everyday occurrence on public transportation because surely he couldn't have been blessed by the Goddess of Lucky Perverts as well, right?
"Would you like to sit here, Haruna? I think I'd prefer to stand and enjoy the ride on my feet," David offered, hoping his crappy excuse was believable enough.
"U-Um, sure! Thank you, Star-kun."
Haruna naturally referred to David by his last name and bowed her head slightly in gratitude.
⟪ Just because she's polite like this doesn't mean she's the same Haruna... ⟫
David casually stood up and guided Haruna to his previous seat, laughing to himself as he saw the gap between Haruna and Marin and Shouko.
Haruna is much smaller than David so the gap he left when he stood up was large enough to fit probably two of Haruna if they squished together.
David grabbed the handle hanging from the ceiling and faced Marin, Haruna, and Shouko, guarding them from anyone on the outside.
Haruna held her school bag in her lap and nervously fidgeted with the zipper for a few minutes in silence before Marin put down her phone.
"Hey there, Haruna-chan~! My name is Marin Kitagawa, but you can call me Marin! You met my hubby just now, but you haven't met me, heheh~. To your left is Shouko Komi who is also our friend, but she has trouble talking so she usually writes or texts. We should all be friends!"
David widened his eyes slightly at Marin's quick actions.
"Ah, yes! My name is Haruna Sairenji, I'd be happy to make friends with you and Komi-san!" Haruna said, smiling more naturally now and feeling happy to have so easily made friends before school even started.
⟪ As expected of Marin, making friends as easily as breathing with someone she just met. So bright and cheerful, heheh. ⟫
David unintentionally compared Marin's energetic personality with Lala Satalin Deviluke's cheery and chaotic personality.
⟪ Dammit, now that I know Haruna exists, I can't help but think about Lala... That's bad, right? I should be thinking about school, but my thoughts keep going to girls. I'll just blame it on being a healthy high school boy, okay? ⟫
Haruna did her best to ignore the most handsome boy she's ever seen that was standing right in front of her and focused on her conversations with Marin and Shouko.
Shouko didn't write anything as she mainly wanted to listen to Marin talk, but if one looked close enough, they would see an illusion of a sun and flowers above Shouko's head as she was genuinely happy to have made another friend so easily thanks to Marin and David.
A little bit later, David felt the stare of someone drilling into the side of his head from afar.
Detecting that it wasn't anything hostile, David just let them stare and attributed it to someone finding him handsome.
After all, almost every girl he walked by or was in the line of sight of had taken the time to stare and admire his looks.
However, as time went on, that one stare kept getting more and more intense.
Unable to control himself, he turned to his left and saw a cute girl around 150 cm tall with short, light brown hair tied into two pony tails on either side of her head, red eyes, exaggerated E-cup breasts hiding underneath a white and blue uniform with a red ribbon tie, and a simple yellow cross hairpin on the right side of her bangs.
She was staring at David intensely with a fawning look on her face as she munched on Pocky sticks, making her look like a cute squirrel.
David gave her a small smile and turned his head back.
⟪ Alrighty, the white and blue uniforms belong to the Tenbi School, got it... I'm almost 100% positive that that was Inaho Kushiya staring at me, though I can't fathom why. These other girls just take peeks at me from the corner of their eyes or stare for a few seconds, but Inaho has me locked into her sights. Did I steal a snack from her without her knowing or something? ⟫
Inaho didn't even think about what David was saying and just continued to stare at him for the entire train ride to Omori Station.
By the time the train arrived, it was 8:35 AM.
David waited for Marin, Shouko, and Haruna to stand up before he stood behind them like a bodyguard and escorted them off the train.
"Whoa...," David said, getting a good look at Hoshinoumi Academy from afar.
Hoshinoumi Academy stretched across several city blocks of the Omori district in the Ota Ward--about 15 acres in total--built over what used to be an old industrial zone. Despite its size, the campus felt like its own little town tucked within Tokyo.
The academy was divided into multiple sections: pre-school, elementary, middle, high school, and college prep--each with their own buildings and various uniforms with the Hoshinoumi Academy crest.
Most of the buildings were low- to mid-rise, designed with a sleek, modern look. Broad walkways connected everything, making it easy to get around. It felt clean, organized, and comfortable.
Scattered between the school blocks were small parks, grassy courtyards, and open spaces where students lounged during breaks. The sports fields, tennis courts, and the full outdoor track gave the campus an athletic, energetic vibe.
Student dormitories sat on the quieter side of campus, near a peaceful canal. Faculty apartments and administrative offices were clustered close by, keeping everything within reach.
At the heart of the campus stood the large auditorium used for ceremonies, performances, and big announcements. Not far from it was the towering library, several busy cafeterias, and small shops open to both students and staff.
To move around the huge campus more easily, students had access to shuttle buses and clearly marked bike paths. Everything was spaced out perfectly to make it not seem cramped.
The whole area was walled in and closely monitored, but it never felt oppressive. The campus blended smoothly into the surrounding neighborhood of residential streets, parks, and local businesses.
The school's main entrance was located only 300 meters away from Omori Station, allowing for more convenience to the students who relied on public transportation.
David walked toward the main entrance with the three girls to his side, his mouth hanging open in amazement.
Marin saw David's expression and poked him in the side. "Heheh~, I felt the same way when I first saw it. I went to a different middle school so when I was recommended to come here, I checked it out first and was shocked by how big the place is. I mean, it's freakin' huge!"
David just nodded dumbly and continued walking, though he closed his mouth so as not to look like a country bumpkin coming to the city for the first time.
When they entered the campus, they were greeted by a huge group of students with bands on their arms that designated them as members of various student councils.
Quite a few students would've caught David's attention had he not been spacing out and looking at his surroundings like an idiot.
Although there were a lot of student council members that wanted to greet David, they saw that he was off in his own world so they decided to hold off until a more opportune time where they were either alone or they weren't surrounded by giant crowds.
Plus, seating for the ceremony began in less than 10 minutes so they couldn't spare any time to really get to know him.
After boarding a shuttle bus to the auditorium, David continued spacing out and took in all that Hoshinoumi Academy had to offer.
They all arrived at the auditorium and after checking in with the staff that were sitting at a table in front of the auditorium's entrance, David, Marin, Shouko, and Haruna were all escorted to their class's section inside.
The auditorium was huge--big enough to fit the entire student body from every division, estimated at around 7,500 students, along with the 850 or so staff. The tiered seating wrapped around a wide front stage, with large screens on both sides so everyone could see the stage clearly.
It was a modern, well-lit, spacious hall built for big events. Banners for each school hung from the ceiling, helping to bring the entire academy together.
Up near the top were glass-windowed rooms reserved for VIP guests and members of the board.
David's small group of four was brought to a section right in the front of the stage. Their section was marked off as "Ichinose High School - Class 1-A" in big writing.
David finally snapped out of his thoughts and realized he was now in the dimly-lit auditorium.
Looking at the sign in front of him, he shrugged.
⟪ Class 1-A, huh? Makes things convenient. Class 1-C or 1-F would just feel weird. I'm lucky to have been placed in the same class as Marin though, that gives me some comfort. ⟫
A young woman who seemed to be a teacher in the pre-school division of the academy directed David to sit in the front row aisle seat, putting him as close to the stage as possible.
David nodded in thanks to the woman and took his seat, with Marin, Shouko, and Haruna taking their own seats to his left.
David looked over at Marin, but she was busy talking with Shouko and Haruna.
Smiling to himself, David closed his eyes once again as he waited for the ceremony to begin.
Only a few minutes later did the lights in the auditorium finally dim even further, making it hard to see anyone that wasn't on the stage.
David opened his eyes and sat up straight, paying close attention to whatever would happen next.
A short girl with shoulder-length pink hair, green eyes, a wide smile on her face, and--oddly enough--demon horns on the top of her head walked out onto the stage.
She was wearing a salmon-colored sweater vest with the Hoshinoumi Academy crest stitched on the left breast, a long-sleeved white dress shirt underneath, a red-and-blue plaid skirt, a red-and-blue striped tie, black thigh-high stockings, and brown loafers.
⟪ ...No idea who that is, but is nobody concerned about the demon horns on her head? ⟫
To answer David's question: no, not a single person was concerned about the demon horns. But that was only because her horns weren't visible to normal humans.
However, there were quite a few girls now wondering if David was hallucinating, since all they saw was a cheerful girl on the stage.
The girl on stage waited for a moment before everyone in the auditorium fell into a hushed silence.
"Good morning students, staff, and valued guests, to Hoshinoumi Academy's High School Division Opening Ceremony! My name is Akane Koumoto and as most of you are aware, I am the dean in charge of the academy as a whole."
Dean Koumoto paused to let her words sink in, giving the audience an even wider grin than before.
David, on the other hand, was searching his mental database to try and figure out who the hell this girl is, coming up blank.
Apparently, his mental database doesn't contain anything from "Actually, I Am..." stored inside...
Dean Koumoto continued her welcome speech with excitement. She acknowledged the efforts of the staff, congratulated returning students on making it to the next stage, and gave a warm welcome to all new students. Her speech touched on the academy's values--growth, respect, unity, blah blah blah--and encouraged everyone to work hard, support one another, and make the most of their time at Hoshinoumi Academy.
Her welcoming speech was almost 30 minutes long, but due to her expressive and slightly mischievous nature that threw some jokes in, she managed to keep all of the students awake.
"Now, everyone please stand for the National Anthem," Dean Koumoto said, impatiently waving her hands up in a motion to get everyone to stand.
Like the good students they are, everyone stood at attention and looked toward the stage as the spotlight shifted from Dean Koumoto to the curtain behind her.
The curtain parted to reveal a student-led orchestra, looking professional as they sat with stoic faces and instruments in their hands.
David was never one to care for nationalism or anything like that, but he had to admit that the student orchestra sounded really good.
After the national anthem was played, they continued with the school's song, something David again, didn't care for, but found pleasing to his ears.
Once it was over and everyone took their seats once again, the spotlight returned to Dean Koumoto.
"Please give a round of applause to the Kuoh High School's Orchestra!" she said as she clapped her hands enthusiastically.
The students all clapped, putting an even bigger smile on Dean Koumoto's face.
At this point, one might be worried that her face would be taken over entirely by her smile. It looked creepy, but also a bit cute.
⟪ Yeah, shoulda known that Kuoh Academy became the Kuoh School here... ⟫
After the applause died down, Dean Koumoto seemed to be holding herself back from laughing, something David didn't pay attention to at first.
"Now, it's time for the welcome speech from the top scorer of this year's entrance exams! Everyone, please welcome David Star from Ichinose High School, Class 1-A!"
The audience clapped respectfully, while some girls could be heard screaming, seemingly already knowing who David was.
David's eyes went wide as he stared dumbfounded at Dean Koumoto, who was watching him with a teasing smile.
⟪ ...What the hell? ⟫
Marin hugged David from the side, and with an excited expression asked, "Wahhh~! My hubby is the top scorer?!"
David slowly turned his head to look at Marin, unsure of what to say.
"Star-kun, come on~!" Dean Koumoto urged teasingly.
⟪ Bah! Look at her face! This woman knows damn well I don't have a speech prepared! How the hell am I the top scorer?! I just... ah... shit, that's right. I was only focused on getting good grades so I was at the top of the class every year... Fuck... ⟫
Under the passionate gaze of Marin, David stood up from his seat and made his way to the stairs on the side of the stage.
Hushed murmurs could be heard in the audience as girls started fawning over David while a majority of the boys were filled with jealousy.
Dean Koumoto moved off to the side of the stage as David stepped up to the microphone.
"Uh... Good morning, everyone... I'll be honest here, I completely forgot that I scored high enough to be considered the top scorer of such a massive school and I didn't even know how big this place was until someone told me a couple days ago. I didn't prepare a speech nor do I know how these things are supposed to go, so... I guess I'll just say do your best, have fun in school, and let's get along well in the future."
David gave a wave and a slight bow before he walked off the stage.
⟪ Seriously, Minori-chan could've at least told me I had to come up with a speech or something. Springing this on me a few seconds before I have to do it just makes me look like a dumbass. ⟫
He shook his head inwardly before going back down to his seat.
""...""
The auditorium was silent for a moment before a loud uproar rang out, both polite applauses from most of the boys mixed with the excited applauses from most of the girls.
"I LOVE YOU, STAR-KUN!" some of the girls shouted.
"PLEASE GO OUT WITH ME, STAR-KUN!" others added.
There were even a few that screamed, "MARRY ME, STAR-KUN!"
At one point, it was hard to tell whether the cheers from the girls or the tongue clicks from the boys were louder.
⟪ I'll never get used to being called by my last name... ⟫
When David sat back down in his seat, his left arm was immediately grabbed and hugged by Marin.
"Heheh~, I loved your speech, hubby~!"
David playfully flicked Marin on the forehead, causing her to giggle again.
"Speech my ass. I didn't even know I had to give one, let alone have one prepared."
Shouko pulled her notebook out of nowhere and scribbled on it briefly before shining her phone's light on it and letting David read it.
*"I liked your speech as well, David."*
"..."
David gave Shouko a flat stare before letting out a chuckle and shaking his head.
"Well if I ever have to give a speech again in the future, I'll make sure that I come up with something more than a few words in length that's actually worth your praise."
He turned back to the stage to see Dean Koumoto walking up to the microphone with a poorly concealed smirk.
The students--well, the girls--were still going crazy even when Dean Koumoto cleared her throat into the microphone.
"Ahem... Yes yes, I know Star-kun is quite handsome, but save your love fantasies for later, yes?"
The cheers and jeers both quickly died down at Dean Koumoto's words, though some giggles could be heard from various girls.
"Thank you. Now, as there are no new teachers this semester, we'll skip the new teacher introductions and start the homeroom orientation. Homeroom teachers, please gather your students and make your way to your classrooms in an orderly fashion. Middle School, Elementary, and Pre-School Division faculties will prepare for their own opening ceremony shortly after."
The lights in the auditorium came back on as the students all stood up in front of their seats and waited for their homeroom teachers to gather them.
It didn't take long before a strict-looking young woman approached David's section. She had long pink hair that had two braids styled on either side of her forehead, a brownish-purple suit with a dark pink skirt, black stockings, and red heels.
As she stopped in front of David, she stared at him for a moment before switching her gaze to the rest of the students, scanning them one by one. The students, noticing the young woman in front of them, all turned their attention toward her.
"Please follow me to the classroom before we make introductions," was all she said as she turned around and started walking to the east exit of the auditorium.
⟪ She seems quite cold... I dig it. ⟫
Smiling to himself, David quickly went after the pink-haired teacher, followed by Marin, Shouko, Haruna, and the rest of Class 1-A.
Their teacher remained silent as she led everyone to a shuttle bus that accommodated the entire class--which would usually consist of 40 students, but their class only had 34 students this semester.
As David was in the lead, he took the seat in the very front next to the teacher.
Marin leaned down and whispered, "I'm going to sit with Haruna-chan and Shouko. Enjoy trying to warm up the teacher, heheh~."
David smirked and quickly pushed his face forward to kiss Marin on the cheek before saying, "Mm, have fun with the girls."
Marin skipped off to the back and directed Shouko and Haruna to sit next to her.
David turned his head back to his teacher as the other students started to board the bus.
"Nice to meet you, Fuyu-sensei. My name is David Star," he said with a charming smile.
The teacher stared flatly at David as her expression remained cold and unmoved.
"Please do not display public acts of affection on campus and do not act so familiar with your teachers, Star-kun. Also, you said my name incorrectly. My name is Mafuyu, but you should refer to me as Kirisu-sensei or just Sensei," the pink-haired teacher, Mafuyu Kirisu, said.
David flashed a quick look of realization before he chuckled.
"Haha, I was only meaning to make a joke as I didn't know your name. You're acting very cold to your new students, so I called you Fuyu-sensei, Fuyu as in Winter. Though, Mafuyu fits you much better, Mafuyu meaning 'midwinter'. I'll do my best to keep your words in mind, Mafuyu-sensei," he said with a smirk.
Mafuyu didn't show any facial reaction and only shook her head.
"I didn't expect this attitude from the top first-year student, but I suppose I should have given the lackadaisical speech you gave. I must say it was rather disappointing."
"Heheh," David chuckled and just stared at her with a mischievous light in his eyes.
⟪ I wasn't certain if it was really her, but her appearance, name, and attitude fit her to a T. This is indeed the woman from the franchise 'We Never Learn.' That franchise always pissed me off. The characters were great, but the author was a massive coward. Instead of choosing only one heroine, the author wrote different routes for each of them--and my homeroom teacher happens to be one of those heroines, The Queen of Thin Ice, Mafuyu Kirisu. ⟫
Mafuyu still had no change in her expression, but now she was listening intently.
[Mafuyu] 'Why do I have to be one of those heroines? Is my life following a pre-determined script?'
⟪ It's odd though. I should've expected it from the fact that Ichinose Academy is now the Ichinose School inside of Hoshinoumi Academy, but she's supposed to be a third-year teacher and a school counselor. I don't know about the counselor part, but she's definitely not a third-year teacher... Since her personality is the same, I wonder if her habits at home are the same? I'm almost 100% certain that her apartment is filthy and cluttered, heheh. ⟫
The first part of David's words made Mafuyu feel relieved that she was indeed on her own path, but the second part made her slightly blush in embarrassment.
Feeling that David was still staring at her, Mafuyu slowly turned her head to look at David.
"Star-kun, it's impolite to stare at people, much less an older woman you don't know. Please either stop staring at me or move to a different seat."
David raised his hands in mock surrender, "Alright alright, I apologize, Mafuyu-sensei. I'll stop staring, but I'll keep this seat warm so some creep doesn't sit next to you and make you feel uncomfortable."
"It's Kirisu-sensei, Star-kun..."
"Mm, I know, Mafuyu-sensei."
She just stared at David and continued with her flat expression.
"This is your last verbal warning, Star-kun. Next will be extra cleaning duties or detention and after that, I'll have to call your parents."
David wanted to continue teasing Mafuyu, but realized she wasn't going to warm up to him so easily; he forgot about the fact that she takes her teaching job extremely seriously.
However, when Mafuyu brought up his parents, David was reminded of the many times in his past life where he heard the same thing from his other teachers. His playful mood instantly disappeared and without responding to Mafuyu, he just turned to face forward with his hands clasped together in his lap.
Mafuyu noticed the change in atmosphere around David, but didn't know what to say--if she should even say something in the first place.
Like some other girls, she wasn't very interested in what David said with his inner voice so she didn't remember the brief times he mentioned not having parents in this life or the fact that his past life was so shitty.
David didn't think anything of it and only felt guilty for annoying Mafuyu and sad due to being reminded of his parents.
He continued staring solemnly out the front of the bus and didn't notice any of the other students that boarded the bus.
Once everyone was on the bus, Mafuyu informed the bus driver that they were ready to leave and the bus took off to the east side of campus.
It didn't take long before the bus arrived at a large 4-story building that looked like a high-end private high school.
When the bus doors opened, David stood up and moved into the aisle to allow Mafuyu to pass.
Without a word, David and the other students started to get off the bus and line up in front of Mafuyu until all of the students in Class 1-A were present.
"Please follow me," Mafuyu said, turning around and walking into the building.
The students all followed Mafuyu into the building, excited to see what lies in store for them.

(A/N 2: Finally, after 63 chapters, a week has actually passed and school has started. Took long enough, yeah? A lot of new girls will be introduced in quick succession, as we saw with Haruna, Inaho, Akane, and Mafuyu, but there won't be a ton of interactions with them all at once, both for pacing and narrative reasons... But mainly pacing, I want to give all of the girls plenty of their own screen time.
Also... Author forgot about Shiki again. Poor Shiki...
Enjoy the chaotic bullshit that's to come and thanks to everyone for continuing to read this mess of a story. One of David's stalkers will make an appearance sometime soon so look forward to that.)
