Chapter 263: Rank 3 Distributor Benefits
Several minutes later.
Lin Mo received the 15,000 high-grade spirit stones from Yu Qingyan after they both went over the sales report. Considering her markup price for it, she netted around 1500 to 3000 high-grade spirit stones as her profit margin. She spent 1000 high-grade spirit stones to upgrade her Distributor Rank to 2, and now, in just one successful venture, she already recouped her investment and then some.
Her eyes sparkled with the satisfaction of a deal well struck, though she masked it with a casual toss of her hair, something Lin Mo found amusing.
"What can I say? Picking you as our distributor will never be a bad choice. Let's see… Looks like you're still ineligible for the next rank. Maybe two more full inventory runs left?"
Lin Mo accessed the [Distributor Interface] and checked on Yu Qingyan's profile on the [Distributor List].
[Yu Qingyan - Rank 2]
[Inventory Value Capacity - 15,000 high-grade spirit stones]
[Distributor Sales Value to next rank: 30,000 high-grade spirit stones]
"Hmph. It doesn't matter to me. I can accomplish that in a week." Yu Qingyan said as she flipped her Distributor Jade Token on top of the table. "Your products sell faster than spirit wine at a sect banquet. But I'm curious. I got the [Personal Inventory] as a benefit for ranking up. Will I unlock another benefit, aside from higher inventory, at Rank 3?"
Lin Mo glanced at the interface again before answering.
[Benefits of Rank 3:
Increased Inventory Value Capacity: 25,000 high-grade spirit stones
Exclusive Product Access: Unlock limited-edition items for distribution (e.g., [Celestial Harmony Elixir], [Starweave Talisman])
Priority Restock: Guaranteed first pick of premium products before they get released.
Distributor Beacon: Deploy a mobile store beacon in your caravan, allowing direct sales and Bulletin Board integration on the road.]
Reading all that, Lin Mo couldn't help but be amazed as well.
What are [Celestial Harmony Elixir] and [Starweave Talisman]? Those products are not present in the store yet. But considering how they're considered exclusive and limited edition, they might be more valuable and expensive than any available products at the moment, except the immortal-grade artifacts.
Then there's the Distributor Beacon. It's possibly quite similar to the Store Beacon that would be present on Towers and Anchors.
However, that sounded counterproductive considering restocking remotely through the Distributor Jade Token was already a feature implemented in the first place. It's just her personal choice to return to the store to submit the sales personally rather than let the interface deal with it. So, what kind of difference can the Distributor Beacon do?
'Oh! She can send the Distributor Beacon in a different direction from her caravan's route. It will probably not be able to do wholesale, just a small kiosk with limited item selections.' Lin Mo thought of a possible explanation for it.
The [Distributor Beacon] was truly intriguing for him. A mobile storefront could extend the store's reach without him leaving Fanling City. Yu Qingyan's caravan was already a walking advertisement, but this would amplify her influence, turning every stop into a mini Divine Convenience Store. His merchant's instincts churned with possibilities, though he kept his expression neutral to avoid giving her too much leverage in their banter.
"Rank 3 is a big leap, Elder Yu," He said with a pleasant smile on his face, "Exclusive products, priority restock, and a Distributor Beacon to sell on the go. Something like the Store Beacon but you can direct where it goes and what to sell in it from our vast selection of store products. But don't get too comfy. I expect those 30,000 high-grade spirit stones sooner rather than later."
Yu Qingyan's interest was totally piqued. She leaned forward and rested her chin on her hand, showing an unshaken poise while matching Lin Mo's smile.
"Oh, Shopkeeper, you underestimate me. A week? I'll have that rank in five days. Your products practically sell themselves, and with a Distributor Beacon, we'll be able to capture more markets. Maybe I'll send it to the areas with hidden lineages who refuse to leave their grand formations? You'll get new patrons without them setting foot inside your store." Her tone was playful, but the sharp edge of ambition was unmistakable.
Little Spring, standing behind her, piped up, her grin mischievous. "Elder Yu's gonna turn our caravan into a moving store! Can we get a green-and-white banner like the shop's, Shopkeeper Lin? It'll look so cool!"
Mei Ling nodded eagerly, her soft voice barely containing her excitement. "And maybe some [Celestial Peach Gummies] for the road? I read from Miss Assistant's thread that they taste great!"
Lin Mo chuckled, waving a hand. "Banner's negotiable, Little Spring, but you'll have to earn those gummies. Or maybe I can give it to you as long as you promise to help your Elder hit Rank 3."
The two disciples exchanged delighted glances, nodding vigorously.
Yu Qingyan rolled her eyes, but her lips twitched with suppressed amusement. "You're spoiling them, Shopkeeper. Careful, or they'll think you're trying to buy them to get close to me."
Understanding what she's implying, Lin Mo snorted before playfully teasing back, "Oh. If that's what I needed to keep my number one distributor, then so be it.
The two young disciples giggled as they nudged their Elder whose face darkened from his words.
"Shopkeeper… You don't know when to stop teasing me. Haa…" With a sigh, Yu Qingyan ran a hand through her hair, her merchant's poise fraying just enough to reveal a flicker of exasperation, but hidden deep beneath it was a hint of delight. "Keep that up, Shopkeeper, and I'll double my markup just to teach you a lesson. Now, enough banter. Can I hear about the trip you had yesterday? The Bulletin Board is buzzing with rumors, and I like to hear the real story before I head to the Tower."
Lin Mo leaned back and relaxed his posture. If it's Yu Qingyan, he could trust that she would be able to realize the significance of that trip, just like how she managed to assess the Tower's value.
And with that, Lin Mo spent a few minutes narrating to her about the Anchor outside Fanling City. He also told her the extracted data and the estimated opening of it.
At some point, Xiaoyu emerged from the Shopkeeper's Quarters, taking Little Spring and Mei Ling to the multipurpose hall after handing them a Celestial Gear Bundle of their choice. That's the reason Yu Qingyan brought them with her, after all.
Meanwhile, Yu Qingyan fidgeted in her seat as she was also itching to try them out. As a result, as soon as Lin Mo paused for a moment with his narration, she stood up, went over to his side and grabbed his wrist, pulling him up, "Let's continue this talk while trying that out, Shopkeeper."
Lin Mo raised an eyebrow as Yu Qingyan tugged him toward the display shelves. Her enthusiasm for the Celestial Duel Gear was sky high. Her merchant's poise gave way to a spark of childlike excitement that reminded him of Xiaoyu's antics. But then again, she's the one who gave the feedback about the Summoning Card Talismans, which resulted in Lin Mo suggesting the creation of the Celestial Duel Platform.
If she were at the store yesterday, she'd definitely be joining Yan Wei, Zhou Rui and Liu Xiaoyu in their Celestial Duels – even if she's a whole realm higher than all of them.
The shelves gleamed with neatly arranged bundles, their modern sleek packaging emblazoned with the store's green-and-white signature and
"Trying it out already, Elder Yu? I thought you were here for business, not playtime," Lin Mo teased, crossing his arms as she plucked a [Celestial Duel Gear Bundle] from the shelf.
He had given out his bundle to the Monk yesterday, so he's also planning to set aside one for himself again.
He picked the one with the [Celestial Beasts] starter deck and turned to Yu Qingyan.
She shot him a sidelong glance, her lips curving into a smirk. "Business is playtime, Shopkeeper. If I'm going to sell these, I need to know what I'm pushing. Besides, you owe me a demonstration after dragging me into your Anchor tale. It's not enough to only watch the recordings."
She then picked her bundle, her sharp eyes alternating between the [Celestial Idols] and the [Arcane Blossom Court]. After deliberating for a moment, she grabbed the one with the [Celestial Idols] starter deck.
Her cultivation technique and spells were also related to music. She believed she could create a synergy between herself and her units.
Lin Mo chuckled, gesturing toward the multipurpose hall where Xiaoyu had taken Little Spring and Mei Ling. "Fair enough. Let's head to the [Divine Arena & Exhibition Hall]. Xiaoyu's probably already roped your disciples into a duel. You can test the gear there, and I'll finish the Anchor story. But don't cry when I outplay you with my beginner's luck."
Yu Qingyan laughed as she tucked the bundle under her arm. "Beginner's luck? Shopkeeper, I've climbed a tower and haggled with sect leaders. A card game won't trip me up. Lead the way."
She paused and then glanced at him with an obvious, sly grin, "Oh, do you mean to play this with the Awakened Celestial Duelist mode? Not bad, Shopkeeper. Should I suppress my cultivation to your level? It wouldn't be fair otherwise."
