Don: The Blood Chains

Chapter 16: Betrayal.

They all froze down at the exact same moment, as they heard the unfamiliar voice, the voice that was deep and, of course, because with the feeling of the silencer pushed to their heads.

Jelena and Vincente immediately dropped their guns to the ground as their hands were shaking. And well, for Gabbana, when he turned around toward the voice, he knew that it was over, as well as Olivia.

As she looked at them, she immediately knew they were on a whole different level, like it wasn't even close to what she thought of. Becasue, those four men who stood behind Jelena and Vincente were a fucking unit.

Like they were in full black, with literally military gear on them, plate carriers, and the most obvious one that she knew it was done for was the suppressed ARs and pistols in their hands. She knew that exact moment that all she had thought about, and what Joseph told her, was all true.

It was really the DAG, but one more thing… she realized what Gabbana was talking about that they were building a foundation, was also true from the thing she could see.

Those ARs in their hands were not the ones from the black market, not the fucked-up ones that jam and shit, but the expensive ones, the ones that had lasers, flashlights on them, and ACOGs with red dots. They really built up something that she had no fucking idea about and with weapons like that and experience, they will fuck up shit if they go wild… if Joseph steps out of this warehouse and now she was sure that he was going to do exactly that… nothing was there to stop him.

"Drop your gun, Mister Gabbana." The man spoke again as he pushed the gun harder to Vincente's head, who was literally just staring ahead. He knew that, just like everybody in there that they were fucked, but the thing is, he could accept it.

He knew he can't do shit, but it seemed like all of it was like a fucking bad dream. They planned the kidnapping of Joseph from the moment his name was put out publicly that he would get pardoned. They had connections, they bribed some officer and agent to get the exact date and where he would go after he stepped out of prison.

They were ready to take revenge, and now… they were the ones whose lives were on the line. They clearly fucked it up by underestimating Joseph and thinking that no one was with him, thinking that even if somebody helped him, over the ten years they'd already vanished into thin air… but hell no, they were here, aiming the guns at their heads.

On the other hand, Gabbana dropped his gun on the ground, but he didn't put up his hands just like Vincente and Jelena, because they knew the rule. The rule that their father said to them when they were younger… never put up your hand for others, never waver nor fear death… well, they were shitting themselves in fear, but at least they weren't going to look like total fuckers with their hands up.

"Who are y-you?" Jelena's hesitant voice came.

"The right question is, who are we?" The man said, and then from the warehouse door came the steps, and dozens of men came in, looking the same just like them, with plate carriers, full black gear, and the same weapon in their hands.

But one of them was different. One that was wearing a sleek black suit with a red tie and when he got closer that was the exact moment when Vincente just got even more shocked by it, because he knew exactly who that was.

"W-what…?"

Not just him, even Gabbana and Jelena knew that man, that middle-aged man they all knew from their childhood. He was there many times.

The head of security of the alliance that their family made. He was the man who did all the security detail and who was moving people in daily, the one that selected the guards of the estate, the bodyguards, and the escorts… Siemon Verda.

"It's surprising, isn't it?" He asked as he stopped, looking at all of them. "What's with the expressions… oh, putting together the puzzle, right?" He smiled, and that fucking smile just told everything.

The answer to the mysterious question, why not even one guard was at the estate when the attack happened and the reason why he disappeared when it happened, just like the guards… Actually, they all thought he died too, got kidnapped or something… but now he was alive and fine, smiling at them.

The feeling of betrayal in that moment was bigger than every single emotion they were feeling. It was topping all of it as they all realized he was the fucking one that helped them out. He was the one who sent everybody away…

Not just a rat, but it went over every single word that could describe him. And the fact he was smiling at them just made everything worse, so much worse that Jelena's breath was so loud like she was a charging bull. Well, she was ready to pull out that hidden pistol on his waistband and blast the shit out of him. Yeah, she felt the revenge more toward him than Joseph himself… the real main reason that their family fell was standing right in front of her, right in front of them. But she couldn't do it, not just because she would've been shot the moment she reached for her pistol, but also because Joseph spoke.

"Siemon Verda." He said his name as he looked up at him. He knew who he was back then, a motherfucker who licked ass every single time, deeply in… but the thing is, if you lick deep, there is a chance you lick shit.

"Joseph, you've grown big." Siemon said, looking at him, and Joseph knew one thing, a rat will always be a rat. And second, back then, he was a fucker. The one that… well, was abusing women and was always sitting at the side that had more money and power.

"Fuck you."

"What?" Siemon asked back, and his smile immediately disappeared from his face.

"You were there." Joseph looked at him with those empty eyes. "You were one of them who testified against me."

The moment he said it, Siemon got tense. Because even though he was working with the DAG and the foundation they built up, he is nobody there… a nobody who told every single lie at the court against Joseph he could come up with… but he also knew that they were just suing him.

"How funny is it, right? I don't trust you." Joseph asked again with a faint smile.

"I–" He couldn't finish it nor even begin, because well… the bullet straight went into his left eye and out in the back of his head, while the second one went straight into his throat.

The nice suit he came in with was now covered with his blood that just poured out from his head and throat.
