Don’t Mess with the Puppy!

chapter 20 - Epilogue 1 (2)

If it weren’t for the puppy sleeping quietly in his arms, Hee-seong would have beaten Yoon Chi-young to a pulp long ago.
For now, he forcibly grasped the most common reason for his anger and rambled,
“I’m mad because you brought home a pup without telling me anything.”
“I had to bring it quickly, too…”

Yoon Chi-young gently squeezed the back of Hee-seong’s hand. Acting pitiful, he began soothing his puppy softly.
“It’s just temporarily taking care of a pup with nowhere else to go. What’s wrong with that?”
“…Whose pup? Is it the child of a beastman you know?”

“Yeah. A beastman caught up in something dangerous.”
After that, Yoon Chi-young covered Walnut’s ears, who had fallen asleep, and whispered. Just that action stirred an inexplicable sadness in Hee-seong’s chest.
‘That bastard.’

He thought Yoon Chi-young was only kind to him, but it seemed he treated all the puppies the same. Gradually, moisture welled up in Hee-seong’s dark eyes. Clenching his teeth tightly against the surge of emotion, he stared blankly out somewhere beyond.
Ignoring that, Yoon Chi-young tried to comfort him,
“We only need to keep him for five days… If you don’t want him, I’ll find another place.”
“……”

Hee-seong didn’t answer and just stared out the car window. If he spoke now, his voice would tremble with sorrow. He was also unhappy to be the one making decisions. Leaving a puppy with nowhere to go in this cold winter was awkward.
Finally, Hee-seong gave up and whispered,
“…You said five days.”
“Yeah, five days.”

Without being prompted, Yoon Chi-young hooked his pinky with Hee-seong’s. Looking at the hand, Hee-seong muttered fiercely,
“If you don’t keep it, I’ll cut off your finger.”
“Since he’s mine, the puppy can do whatever he wants.”
Even at the threat, Yoon Chi-young responded as if pleased. Holding the passenger seat with one hand, he smiled softly and kissed Hee-seong tenderly. But instead of calming down, Hee-seong was annoyed by how fearless he was of the warning.

“Let’s go home.”
Leaving a kiss behind, Yoon Chi-young got out of the car first. Hee-seong followed but before unbuckling his seatbelt, he looked down into his arms.
The yellow puppy wrapped in the bundle curled up, wiggling its nose. As a large breed pup, it was still young but as big as a water bottle and warm to the touch. Being a fellow puppy, Hee-seong felt a strange affection as he watched.
He thought it was right to act mature since he was the adult. Gently looking down at the puppy, Hee-seong carefully wrapped the bundle again and muttered quietly,
“…I’m just tolerating him because he’s young.”

“……”
“I’m not good with kids.”
Though his words were harsh, his hands gently cradled the puppy so it wouldn’t wake. Getting out of the car, Hee-seong was followed by Yoon Chi-young, who smiled fondly as he held the door.

“The puppy’s taking care of the puppy.”
“Shut up.”
They spoke softly as they cautiously entered the elevator together, then carried the yellow puppy down. They whispered back and forth a lot.

“He’s cute… but you’re cuter.”
“Shut up, be quiet.”
“Are you not cursing because the pup’s here?”

Yoon Chi-young laughed ticklishly and opened his coat to hug Hee-seong from behind. Even when Hee-seong struck his ribs with his elbow, it was useless. The noise seemed to wake Walnut slightly, who licked his lips and flailed his front paws. But he didn’t wake. He seemed to be having a wonderful dream, completely unaware he was cradled by a cannibal wolf and a little fighting dog.
Walnut was still a young fighting dog who couldn’t even transform into human form yet.
Beastmen lived in their true form from childhood and only began to take human form slowly around age seven or eight. That meant young Walnut had no choice but to stay in puppy form all day.

As a large breed pup, Walnut was plump enough to fill and overflow Hee-seong’s hands. He was still eating baby food, so he required much care. Fortunately, he had been weaned already.
The problem was that Walnut was a child suddenly brought into an unfamiliar place.
“Au! Awng, au!”

Walnut began crying loudly the moment he woke up in the morning.
The young puppy was wary of Hee-seong and afraid of Yoon Chi-young, who was taller and more imposing. Even treats couldn’t calm Walnut, who desperately hid behind the curtains, trembling with his thick tail held tight. The sight was pitiful.
In front of him, Yoon Chi-young held a bowl of egg porridge and spoke kindly.

“It’s okay, Walnut. Here. Eat.”
Even as Yoon Chi-young gently coaxed him, Walnut panicked and hid his eyes behind the curtains.
It was understandable. Because of his injury, Yoon Chi-young was still half-transformed. Even if one could excuse his black wolf ears or finger-length fangs, his strong pheromones were instinctively avoided. Walnut howled and even shed tears when Yoon Chi-young’s hand came near the glass door. No matter how kind Yoon Chi-young was, Walnut saw him as an enemy.

“Why are you just scared? I’m hiding my pheromones as much as I can…”
“……”
Behind the lamenting Yoon Chi-young, Hee-seong leaned on the back of the sofa, arms crossed, looking displeased.

‘That guy thinks feeding the puppy is all it takes?’
Hee-seong didn’t want to help Yoon Chi-young.
Honestly, he wanted to tell him to raise the puppy alone and leave. He hated seeing Yoon Chi-young fawn over another puppy instead of him. Curling up on the sofa, Hee-seong frowned and looked away.

Then Yoon Chi-young brushed back his black hair and muttered worriedly,
“That’s strange. I’m taking good care of the puppy…”
“Taking care? Ha.”

Hee-seong scoffed openly. Yoon Chi-young’s arrogance was laughable.
Of course, Yoon Chi-young did care well for the puppy—he groomed his fur, cleaned his ears, fed him meticulously, and showed constant affectionate touch and gentle words. He truly raised the puppy like a king. Thinking about it, Hee-seong’s irritation flared up again. It was no wonder Yoon Chi-young was so confident.
‘…Annoying.’

But now that affection was directed at another puppy, Hee-seong felt petty and sad.
He vaguely sensed this was jealousy but didn’t want to call it a simple emotion. Strangely, Hee-seong felt a deeper anxiety.
The kind he felt back when his father might have sold him off as weak, or when he feared being cast out if he showed no use to the pack. Even knowing things were different now, he hated this situation itself.

At that moment, Yoon Chi-young wearily approached the sofa and sat down beside Hee-seong.
“Babe, can’t you help out with the puppy a ~Nоvеl𝕚ght~ bit…?”
Yoon Chi-young opened his eyes pitifully and rested his cheek on Hee-seong’s shoulder. Meanwhile, the sound of Walnut’s incessant whining and crying continued.
He had brought the puppy home on his own and now was asking for help. Hee-seong quickly turned his head away, hiding his eyes that seemed ready to break down in tears. Both Yoon Chi-young’s aggravating request and Walnut’s crying felt like stress to Hee-seong. He had no idea what exactly was expected of him.

“Whatever. Since you brought him, you deal with it.”
Hee-seong stood up coldly and went to the kitchen to grab a glass of water.
He felt Yoon Chi-young sulking behind him but didn’t push him any further. Yoon Chi-young seemed to try soothing Walnut alone again, but the puppy only cried bitterly.

“Au, au!”
As a fellow fighting dog, Hee-seong fully understood the meaning of the puppy’s cries. Even across different packs, common words could be understood.
‘Mommy… Daddy! Where are you?’

“……”
Plop.
After drinking the cold water, Hee-seong set the glass down irritably. His lips pressed tightly, his gaze heavy with sorrow.

He hated hearing Walnut’s cries. It reminded him too much of when he was left alone in a house with no one coming back, feeling the despair that no matter how much he cried, he would always be alone.
He knew he couldn’t leave things as they were.
After all, the pup was innocent. Hee-seong didn’t want any other puppy to feel the same pain he had felt that day. So even if he was angry, it was right to direct it at Yoon Chi-young and soothe the child first.

Resolute, Hee-seong strode into the living room and transformed into a small puppy.
His stride instantly shortened and the pile of clothes he wore fell apart. From inside emerged a white puppy who shook his body resolutely and headed toward Yoon Chi-young.
Woof.

‘You, go away.’
Hee-seong nodded roughly and approached Walnut. Yoon Chi-young pushed him away with his front paw on his thigh—though he didn’t move—and stepped directly behind Walnut.
Hee-seong knew this well as another puppy. When in puppy form, looking at a person was intimidating due to the size difference. From a puppy’s low perspective, only the outstretched hands or feet were visible. It was impossible to tell who was who, and no matter how kindly words were spoken in an unfamiliar place, it was only frightening.

It was best when a similar kind of beast calmed them down.
The white puppy plopped down behind Walnut, who was futilely hiding his eyes behind the curtain.
‘…He’s really big even for a pup.’

Indeed, a large dog was a large dog. Returning to white puppy form, Hee-seong saw Walnut was at least twice his size. Judging by his neat appearance, he seemed to be from a foreign retriever breed, but his upright ears suggested otherwise. It seemed the young master was right, but Walnut’s parents were likely different breeds.
Hee-seong was curious what breed Walnut was but decided to calm the pup first as a senior puppy.
Woof!

The white puppy barked boldly, speaking as a dog to another dog.
Walnut, who had only been whining, finally responded. He looked back with moist eyes, showing curiosity about the white puppy. His short tail, hidden all this time, stood up slightly and wagged.
Soon Walnut approached Hee-seong, lowered his body cautiously, and sniffed his soft chest fur. Still whining, he didn’t stop crying, so Hee-seong had to scold him himself.

Woof!
“You! Why are you crying, puppy? Aren’t you the kid?”
The white puppy frowned and rolled his paw, trying to scold. But seeing the little one in front of him softened his heart, making it hard to be harsh.

The white puppy then murmured seriously, looking elsewhere.
‘…He really is a kid.’
Walnut lowered his body with a whimper and tried to bury his nose in Hee-seong’s fluffy chest fur. The pup was twice his size and crashed into him heavily, making the soft body sway. Steadying himself, Hee-seong shouted firmly at the puppy again.

‘Still, a pup over 1 kg can’t cry!’
Speaking sternly, Hee-seong turned his gaze away and muttered thoughtfully,
‘…This one must’ve weighed over 1 kg when he was born.’

Meanwhile, Walnut knocked Hee-seong down and buried his face in the white fur. Overjoyed to meet a fellow of his kind, his short tail wagged busily and his continuous crying subsided. The white pup was just too much to handle.
‘Ugh… do whatever you want.’
He thought about pushing Walnut away but soon gave up. He didn’t want to scold the pup harshly like he had been scolded in the gambling house.

Moreover, he hated that scolding himself just now had felt like a scared father. Puppies should cry. Being honest and crying in the moment was a much more beastlike and happier way to live.
Walnut wriggled deeper into Hee-seong’s arms. Though younger, the pup was twice his size, and the white puppy fell back, struggling under Walnut’s weight. Hee-seong sighed, barely freeing himself from the heavy puppy’s embrace. But Walnut no longer cried.
Having calmed him, it was now time to feed him.

‘Here. Eat first.’
After Hee-seong demonstrated by eating the egg porridge Yoon Chi-young had given him, Walnut relaxed and ate the porridge as well. Apparently quite hungry, he finished the bowl the size of Hee-seong’s body.
Walnut finished licking his bowl clean, then immediately leaned against Hee-seong, trying to hide in his arms. The stress of being in an unfamiliar place must have been overwhelming, as he clung to Hee-seong excessively. Though Hee-seong tried to push him away in annoyance, the little one was so strong that it was impossible to move him, just like when he was crushed under a pillow.

In the end, it was Yoon Chi-young who rescued the white bundle pinned under Walnut.
“My puppy, I was wondering where you went again.”
‘Don’t kiss me! You’re the one I hate the most!’

Even as the puppy struggled, Yoon Chi-young showered kisses all over the white body. He carried the puppies to the bed and didn’t forget to take several photos. Already exhausted, Hee-seong had to soothe the large pup resting on his chest with his pink belly exposed. Walnut had eaten plenty but was still babbling, calling for his mother.
“Mommy, Daddy…”
“Call me hyung (older brother).”

“Mommy…”
“I said, hyung.”
While the resigned white puppy babbled, Walnut slowly fell asleep, curled up beside him with a front paw tightly clutching the white pup’s body.

Yoon Chi-young watched the two with loving eyes and gently removed Walnut’s paw from the other puppy.
“Cute… Should we just raise them ourselves?”
‘You raise them alone.’

The white puppy turned his head sharply as if sulking. Hee-seong was still angry, and even seeing Yoon Chi-young enjoying himself was unbearable.
Yoon Chi-young kissed the puppy’s forehead and spoke worriedly.
“Babe.”

‘What?’
“But I think I only have eyes for our puppy now… How should I take care of Walnut?”
Without a word, Yoon Chi-young lay down beside Hee-seong and gently stroked the puppy’s forehead with his fingertips. He seemed so happy that laughter never left his lips.

The slightly relieved white puppy curled up and held his wrist. His black eyes, full of sorrow and relief, shone brightly. He couldn’t understand why such simple words brought so much comfort.
Two days passed since Walnut arrived.
Both Hee-seong and Yoon Chi-young had quite a hard time. They’d been busy taking care of Walnut non-stop. They hadn’t expected so much chaos from having a young puppy in the house. Walnut’s strength and boundless energy were proof he was a large breed pup.

Thankfully, Walnut quickly adjusted to the home. After seeing Hee-seong’s true form, he seemed to relax his heart, repeatedly eating, sleeping, playing, and eating again—wearing out both Hee-seong and Yoon Chi-young’s spirits. Because of that, the white puppy had to lie down in a daze with his tongue out every time Walnut’s bedtime came around. They hadn’t realized that childcare was more exhausting than work.
Naturally, Yoon Chi-young and Hee-seong couldn’t continue their intimate moments.
“Puppy.”

At dinner time, Yoon Chi-young approached Hee-seong, who had just showered.
Following him into the dressing room, Yoon Chi-young’s gaze upon Hee-seong’s clean, pale back was unusual. Hee-seong looked into the full-length mirror and saw those sharp gray eyes but tried to ignore them as he put on his clothes. His anger at Yoon Chi-young for bringing another puppy hadn’t yet subsided.
“Shall we go on a date?”

“What about Walnut?”
“Oh…”
Yoon Chi-young’s eyes suddenly glazed over, and he shyly brushed his lips.

“We kinda looked like a married couple…”
“……”
Hee-seong didn’t respond and simply finished putting on his pajamas, knowing Yoon Chi-young’s head was full of those thoughts now.

Meanwhile, Yoon Chi-young hugged Hee-seong from behind and nibbled his neck. The erotic sensation made Hee-seong curl his head the other way. Looking into the mirror, he saw himself nestled tightly in Yoon Chi-young’s broad arms. The size difference made Yoon Chi-young’s broad shoulders stand out dramatically.
Below, a brief struggle unfolded. Hee-seong pushed Yoon Chi-young’s heavy arms off his waist. But Yoon Chi-young didn’t care and stood with legs slightly apart, pressing his heavy crotch against Hee-seong’s butt. His face grew tense. In a low, growling voice near Hee-seong’s ear, he said,
“I’ve held back for a long time…”

“J-just two days, what are you talking about.”
Though Hee-seong replied gruffly, his ears turned red. Whenever Yoon Chi-young acted like this, Hee-seong also blushed easily with excitement. Hee-seong’s own sexual appetite was as strong as Yoon Chi-young’s, if not more.
“We can just call someone to watch Walnut for a while…”

“But he’d be anxious if we weren’t here, hmm…!”
Unable to hold back, Yoon Chi-young pulled Hee-seong’s chin and kissed him hastily. Without giving a moment’s pause, he slid his hand inside Hee-seong’s pajamas and squeezed his scarcely meaty chest. With the other hand, he pulled Hee-seong’s hand to stroke the hard pillar beneath his gray tracksuit.
Shivering from the chilling sensation, Hee-seong pushed away with his heavy arm. When Yoon Chi-young acted rough like this, his usual calm demeanor seemed like a lie. He took a deep breath, leaning his back against the mirror. Yoon Chi-young bit his lower lip in desperation, and heat soon spread to Hee-seong as well. Just as Hee-seong grabbed Yoon Chi-young’s shoulder to pull him in and kissed him,

Crash!
Woof! Woof!
Suddenly, a loud crashing sound was heard, followed by Walnut barking fiercely. The two pulled apart in shock, eyes wide open—just leaving Walnut alone for about ten minutes had caused an accident.

“Walnut?”
“……”
Yoon Chi-young hurried outside to check the situation. Left alone, Hee-seong sighed deeply and leaned against the mirror, then weakly stepped outside.

The accident had happened in the living room. Walnut was happily licking the bowl, covered head to toe in spilled milk, while Yoon Chi-young carefully sat nearby, cleaning up.
In disbelief, Hee-seong adjusted his pajamas and asked,
“What now?”

“I left the milk on the table to cool…”
Yoon Chi-young cut off the explanation and proudly introduced Walnut, who caused the mess, lifting him up with a smile.
Walnut wagged his tail excitedly, covered in warm milk. Though Hee-seong wanted to scold him sternly, seeing Walnut so happy made him laugh in disbelief.

“Go wash Walnut first. I’ll finish cleaning.”
“No, I already cleaned it. Right, Walnut?”
Yoon Chi-young laughed brightly while holding the milk-soaked Walnut. His affection was no different from how he treated Hee-seong when he was still a puppy. Seeing that, Hee-seong’s tail suddenly lost all energy. The earlier aggressive behavior toward Hee-seong now seemed like a lie.

After tidying up, Yoon Chi-young kissed the crouching Hee-seong and got up. He then went into the bathroom with Walnut to give him a bath.
“You go ahead and sleep first. I’ll wash Walnut.”
