Chapter 58: 58. Defeat Titan Giant Ape
Return to the Battle
The battle in the forest had reached its climax.
A human and a beast continued to clash relentlessly. Despite the Titan Giant Ape's overwhelming physical strength, it still couldn't break through Wang Feng's Obsidian Shell defense. In fact, the energy from its punches only made Wang Feng's counterattacks more devastating.
"ROOOAR!"
With this earth-shaking roar, the Titan Giant Ape completely lost its rationality.
It bellowed in fury, raising its right fist high. A dark aura ignited around it, distorting and compressing the surrounding air.
The Titan Ape threw a punch, unleashing an invisible shockwave.
"BOOM!"
Like the blast of a cannon, the terrifying shockwave surged straight toward Wang Feng.
The sheer force was absolutely terrifying!
Yet, Wang Feng only smirked. "This is exactly what I was waiting for!"
He gathered all the energy he had absorbed from the Titan Giant Ape's previous attacks and channeled it into his own fist.
"BOOOOOM!!!"
An explosion erupted in the air, followed by a deafening reverberation.
The punch released an invisible wave of energy that rippled outward.
This time, the Titan Giant Ape's attack caused cracks to form on Wang Feng's Obsidian Shell. The fractures spread little by little before finally stopping just short of completely shattering the barrier.
Meanwhile, the Titan Giant Ape was in terrible condition. Wang Feng's counterattack, fueled by all the energy stored in his Yin-Yang Dome, sent the beast flying dozens of meters back. The force of the blow tore a gaping hole straight through its abdomen.
Wang Feng retracted the dome back into his body. He stared at the Titan Giant Ape, which was still standing despite the blood pouring from its wounds and the massive hole in its stomach.
Finally, the beast could no longer hold on—its massive body collapsed to the ground.
Wang Feng exhaled wearily, then walked over to check on the Titan Giant Ape.
Despite its horrific injuries, the beast still clung to life. If Wang Feng wanted, he could heal it completely using his Ethereal Lotus ability.
His soul power reserves were still abundant—he could easily fight for another half-hour if needed.
Now, he hesitated. Should he heal it… or simply walk away?
He thought back to the reason for their battle—they had fought over the Ascension Fruit.
This fruit had only one effect: boosting the user's soul power by 2-3 levels with no side effects. Its properties were similar to the Spirit Ascension Pill, but it was far more potent and left no residual impurities in the body. However, it could only be used by those below Level 70.
When Wang Feng first saw the fruit, he had immediately wanted to take it—not just for himself, but also for Huo Yuhao. He deeply admired Huo Yuhao's determination. Despite his pitifully weak innate talent, the boy trained relentlessly day and night.
Fortunately, thanks to the Xuan Shui Pills Wang Feng had given him, Huo Yuhao's cultivation speed had improved significantly. The last time Wang Feng asked, Huo Yuhao had said he still had two pills left. His current cultivation speed was now equivalent to someone with innate Level 6 soul power. If he took the remaining two pills, he might even reach Level 7.
This was a massive improvement for Huo Yuhao, who had started with only Level 1 innate soul power. The boy had been so grateful that he had hugged Wang Feng in excitement—an action Wang Feng had naturally reciprocated.
Of course, if the tree had borne multiple fruits, Wang Dong would have gotten a share too. He was also one of the few people Wang Feng considered a true friend.
Before approaching the tree, Wang Feng had carefully scouted the area to ensure no spirit beasts were guarding it.
Once he confirmed it was unguarded, he climbed the tree and harvested every last fruit, storing them all in his system space without leaving a single one behind.
But just as he turned to leave—
"ROOOOAR!"
A furious roar echoed from behind him.
Wang Feng spun around and saw the enraged Titan Giant Ape.
He immediately realized—these "nameless" fruits belonged to it.
The Titan Giant Ape was livid. For years, it had guarded these fruits, only for a mere human to steal them—and a weak one at that!
Seeing its rage, Wang Feng didn't waste time talking. He summoned his Ethereal Lotus and activated his first soul skill:
"Apotheosis!"
Golden light burst from the lotus, enveloping him. In an instant, his hair turned gold, and his body crackled with lightning.
And so, their battle began.
Back to the Present
Wang Feng gazed at the suffering Titan Giant Ape.
He stood silently for a moment before sighing. "Fine… I'll help it. I can't just leave it like this. After all, I was the one who stole its fruit—the least I can do is spare its life."
Though Wang Feng had once worked as a mercenary, accepting missions to hunt down evil humans or malevolent spirit beasts, he had never taken a job that involved killing innocents.
As for spirit beasts… he pitied them. They spent centuries, even millennia, cultivating, only to be fated as soul rings for humans. He refused to slaughter them needlessly and contribute to their dwindling numbers.
Some might call him a hypocrite—after all, he had hunted spirit beasts for his own soul rings. But he didn't care what others thought.
What mattered most was protecting those close to him.
Raising his hand, he summoned the Ethereal Lotus once more. Its petals glowed softly as he channeled his soul power into it.
Golden light radiated from the lotus, slowly enveloping the Titan Giant Ape.
In mere moments, the beast's wounds began sealing shut—as if time itself was reversing. Even the gaping hole in its abdomen closed up, new flesh knitting together naturally.
Within seconds, the Titan Giant Ape was completely healed, without even a scar remaining.
After ensuring its recovery, Wang Feng turned and left, resuming his search for his third spirit ring.
But before he departed…
He placed one Ascension Fruit beside the unconscious Titan Giant Ape.
The beast's eyes fluttered open weakly, catching a glimpse of Wang Feng's retreating figure.
