Douluo Dalu 3: Legend of the White Fox

Chapter 87: Chapter 87: You Can Let Go Now

"Do you really have a solution ?" Leng Yaozhu asked, immediately yanking Xia Yi away from behind Gu Yue.

Thinking of the relationship between Xia Yi and Leng Yulai, perhaps Xia Yi really could provide them with some useful ideas.

"I have a somewhat immature idea—I wonder if it might work," Xia Yi said, gritting his teeth.

"Spit it out. Let me hear just how immature it is," Leng Yaozhu replied with a frown.

"I'm afraid if I say it wrong, I'll get beaten," Xia Yi whispered.

"Beaten? Who would beat you?" Leng Yaozhu was taken aback. Even if Xia Yi's idea turned out to be completely unworkable, there was no way he'd be beaten.

Xia Yi said nothing further, merely glancing up briefly at Yun Ming and Ya Li.

"Speak up. If saying something wrong means you'll be beaten, I would have already pinned you down and started hammering. Rest assured, Yun Ming and I are civilized—we won't lay a hand on you," Ya Li said darkly.

She had already predicted that Xia Yi might spout nonsense.

But for the sake of his "idea," she decided to listen.

After all, one must be cautious—what if Xia Yi accidentally stumbled upon a good idea?

Besides, she had already had enough trouble today; being annoyed once more wouldn't hurt.

"Don't worry, I, Yun Ming, have undergone professional training. No matter how much you provoke me, I won't hit you," Yun Ming said coolly.

After all, he was a Limit Douluo. How could he possibly lose face by laying a hand on a mere one-link soul master like Xia Yi?

"I won't believe it unless you all swear," Xia Yi whispered.

"Always talk but never commit. Either speak up or scram!" Yun Ming glared fiercely at Xia Yi. He didn't expect Xia Yi to have any useful solution anyway.

How could anyone go to the trouble of swearing over such a trivial matter?

"Fine, I'm out, I'm out," Xia Yi shrugged and turned to leave.

"Hey, you—stop right there," Yun Ming said, taking a deep breath. He decided that regardless of whether it would work or not, it was best to at least listen.

After all, what if Xia Yi accidentally came up with a brilliant idea?

"I swear, no matter what you say, I won't hit you, alright?" Yun Ming said in a dark tone.

Only then did Xia Yi nod in satisfaction and ask, "After ascending to godhood, one can live forever. So, is the Sea God still alive?"

"Of course he is!" Yun Ming replied proudly.

"In that case, why not have him come out and prove his innocence publicly?" Xia Yi said flatly.

"Prove his innocence? How would he do that?" Yun Ming asked.

He hadn't mentioned that the divine realm had already disappeared.

After all, he thought Xia Yi wouldn't understand even if he tried.

"On those sea posters, isn't the Sea God referred to as the 'Lone Hero' because he only had one egg? If the Sea God comes out publicly and proves he isn't a lone hero, wouldn't that settle it?" Xia Yi said very earnestly.

"So that's your brilliant idea?" Yun Ming asked with a dark look.

Even if the divine realm still existed, there was no way to contact the Sea God Tang San.

And even if he could be reached—and even if Tang San really came down to the mortal world—there's no way he'd prove publicly that he wasn't a lone hero.

If it were Tang San, he'd rather prove he only ate a bowl of noodles than publicly demonstrate that he wasn't a lone hero.

"What's the problem?" Xia Yi asked curiously, blinking his large black eyes in utter confusion.

"Scram!" Yun Ming, irritated by Xia Yi's act of innocence, angrily kicked him.

"Biu—"

Xia Yi instantly became a projectile, flying from the Shrek Academy courtyard, arcing across half of the campus, and disappearing into the skies above Shrek Academy.

"I didn't hit him," Yun Ming chuckled.

"Yue'er, go check on him. Just make sure he's not dead," Leng Yaozhu said in a dark tone.

She could tell that Yun Ming had held back his strength. With a helpless wave of his hand, a pair of flaming wings appeared behind Gu Yue, and with them, Gu Yue vanished along with Yun Ming into the skies above Shrek Academy.

She had been thoroughly startled.

She hadn't expected that after warning Xia Yi in the Spirit Tower earlier, he would dare spout nonsense so quickly.

"Why do you always insist on leaving Shrek Academy at a time like this?" Leng Yaozhu couldn't help but wonder.

She could tell that Xia Yi was deliberately provoking Yun Ming just so he could leave Shrek Academy.

Xia Yi was confident that with her around, Yun Ming would never truly hit him, so he deliberately acted out.

Outside Shrek Academy, Xia Yi, descending from the sky, smashed a car parked by the roadside into scrap metal.

The sudden commotion instantly attracted a large crowd.

People quickly gathered around.

"Aren't we supposed to be civilized? Didn't we all receive professional training?" Xia Yi mumbled as he jumped down from the car. Apart from a few scrapes, he was mostly unscathed.

Leng Yaozhu had only followed after seeing that Yun Ming had exercised restraint.

"Everyone, disperse! I'm a Shrek student. I was sparring with a classmate when I accidentally got knocked into the air. Don't worry, we'll compensate for the vehicle at full price," Xia Yi quickly explained.

"Aren't you fearless?" Gu Yue asked darkly as he descended from the sky.

For the first time, in front of Yun Ming and Ya Li, Xia Yi mentioned the Sea God Tang San.

"What's Na'er's Spirit Communication Number?" Xia Yi asked.

"What do you plan to do?" Gu Yue asked in a deep tone.

"Since I smashed someone's car, I need to leave behind a spirit communicator number, right?" Xia Yi said casually.

Although he was the one who smashed the car, the main culprit was Yun Ming.

Leaving behind Na'er's spirit communicator number was perfectly reasonable.

Even though Yun Ming's number was no longer available, it made sense.

"Could you please be a bit more serious?" Gu Yue shook his head in helpless exasperation. When it came to Xia Yi, there was really nothing one could do.

He had no choice but to comply with Xia Yi's arrangement. He stretched out his slender, fair fingers and, using his fingernails, carved a series of numbers onto the dented car door.

"Now, can you finally say what you plan to do?" Gu Yue asked in a deep tone.

"I sensed a pull emanating from Shrek City—a pull very much like the one I felt when I first encountered Ya Li and the faith she radiated," Xia Yi said in a deep tone.

Gu Yue paused, then said, "Very similar indeed. You mean that a massive force of belief has appeared in Shrek City."

Gu Yue remembered that the force of faith emanating from Ya Li had attracted Xia Yi back then.

"I mean, perhaps something that can help my martial soul evolve has appeared," Xia Yi said with a helpless sigh.

He suddenly realized that ever since his martial soul had evolved, his ability to sense treasures that could further evolve his soul had grown stronger.

When he first met Gu Yue, he hadn't sensed anything.

After evolving one tail, he only sensed Ya Li's force of faith when he saw her.

Now, here at Shrek Academy, he could sense a treasure capable of evolving his martial soul.

If that were the case, it would be much easier for his soul to evolve in the future.

"There it is," Gu Yue said with a pleased expression, and quickly asked, "Show me where."

"Follow me," Xia Yi said, grabbing Gu Yue's hand, and eagerly chased in the direction of the sensed pull.

Gu Yue's body stiffened. Before he could even struggle, Xia Yi had dragged him along.

"Bi Ji, is this really okay?" Zi Ji, hidden in the shadows, widened her eyes. It seemed that their master wasn't angry at all.

"Why don't you go remind our master or Xia Yi about it?" Bi Ji suggested in a low voice.

"You're just trying to set me up again," Zi Ji snorted coldly. Now that she had appeared, wouldn't it embarrass Gu Yue?

"If you don't go out, then just watch from here," Bi Ji said indifferently.

"Xia Yi's martial soul is insanely overpowered even before evolving. If he does manage to evolve into a nine-tailed state, perhaps he'll even be a fine choice for our master," Zi Ji said in a low tone.

"That's true! And if that happens, it could make up for what our master lacks…" Bi Ji began, only to be interrupted by a disapproving glare from Zi Ji.

While the two of them were conversing, Xia Yi and Gu Yue had already reached the foot of a building nearly a hundred meters tall.

"Shrek Auction House. Looks like we're in for a huge splurge today," Xia Yi sighed helplessly.

From Gu Yue's blood to Ya Li's faith, whether one was the other, both were treasures beyond value.

It appeared that whatever was needed to evolve his martial soul into a three-tailed state must also be an unparalleled treasure.

"Let's just hope we can afford it," Xia Yi said solemnly.

He knew that his soul skill actually stemmed from his tail; the soul rings were merely mediums to release his soul skills.

Without evolving into a three-tailed state, even if his cultivation reached level 30, he'd only be able to use the first two soul skills.

No matter what the cost, he would try every possible way to evolve his martial soul.

"If it comes down to it, you can always borrow some money from Gu Yue. Next time you see the Demon Emperor, have her help repay it," Xia Yi said, looking at Gu Yue—she shouldn't be short on cash, should she?

The Demon Emperor never had an issue with money, since she was busy excavating two imperial tombs.

After all, the idea of digging up imperial tombs to raise funds was Xia Yi's suggestion, so taking a small share wouldn't be too unreasonable.

Just then, remembering herself, Gu Yue said coldly, "You can let go now."
