Chapter 2: Martial Intent Cultivation Technique
After training for five more years ,my cultivation and strength has naturally reached into the realm of a hundred year spirit beast.
My strength is improving at an exceedingly fast pace compared to other spirit beasts my age.
The strongest bear in my age range was at the level of a 55-year spirit beast. Impressive ,for a six year old bear cub ,but clearly not my match.
I could already efficiently mobilize and change the attributes of the energy inside my body that I came to learn was called Spirit Power.
An energy form inherent to all soul beasts and soul masters alike. It represented the energy reserves and spiritual strength of all creatures in the world.
Without it ,we would be no different from ordinary beasts. Mindless and instinctual creatures that could only survive primitively.
My spirit power had already reached the level of an 142-year spirit beast. I even managed to create my own spirit skill called Spiritual Protection.
It allowed me to create a thick invisible barrier around me made of spirit power that can block 99% of damage from attacks without piercing effects.
It only works at half effectiveness with piercing attacks. As of now though ,none of my peers have any piercing attacks yet.
So currently ,I'm the uncontested strongest of the youngest generation of bear cubs. Thanks to that ,I receive various rewards every now and then.
Such as thousand year spirit beast meat and various treasure herbs that increase physical strength and mental acuity.
....
On my sixth birthday ,my mother woke me up and handed me a small book. Although it only contained a few pages of paper ,it was an incredibly rare resource around here.
"Fu Shi ,my son. I have brought you a birthday gift from the elders. As the strongest among the youngest cubs ,you will be allowed to learn the clan's top secret cultivation method."
My mother proceeded to explain that this method had been passed down from their ancestors and it was an ancient technique that allowed you to cultivate a special kind of power.
This power was referred to as 'Martial Intent' and it was cultivated through intense combat trials and extreme martial arts training.
Reading the book ,the beginning page introduced the technique ,martial intent ,and the fact that I will now be put through a ten year seclusion plan to hone my martial intent and cultivate the technique to mastery.
Reading those words ,I realized that the real training was about begin and I needed to prepare myself for what this next decade of training held for me.
Reading through the rest of the book ,I learned the basic stance and methods to invoke the gathering of martial intent into my body.
The last page was an epilogue text ,quoted to have been left behind by the ancestors directly.
To be fierce ,strong ,and protect the clan. Protecting your family with all your might is the true martial intent.
It seemed like a quote said only to stir the sense of honor and pride in one's clan and kin to instill a desire to protect the clan.
But it was a truly inspirational quote to the now young and fully integrated bear cub ,Fu Shi.
It stirred his will to get stronger for his parents and his fellow clan members.
Immediately ,I closed the book after finishing it and took up the stance recorded in the book.
It had me stand with my legs and knees aligned with my shoulders. My elbows resting against my waist and my forearms turned upside down with my paws lightly clenched into fists.
I began circulating my spirit power through my body in a rotating motion. It swirled and turned into a whirlpool ,raging through my body as I focused.
The spirit power raging around my entire body sent pain through every cell in my body ,I barely maintained the stance as the spirit power dissipated after ravaging my entire body.
Suddenly ,a mysterious strand of energy flowed into my body. It felt extremely different from spirit power as it travelled through the destroyed cells and restored their vigor and vitality.
Everywhere it traveled ,cells in my body began springing to life and filling me with life and power.
After it circulated through my entire body ,the exhausted strand slowly dissolved into my heart.
Suddenly ,my heart started pumping. I could feel my heart beating throughout my entire body as it pounded like a giant gong.
My body started growing until my head finally reached my mothers knees. She was only three times my current size and dad is still seven times my size.
Still ,I had grown to reach four feet and six inches tall. A somewhat sizable range for a six year old bear cub.
But I'm not too surprised by this ,I've learned that spirit beasts are very abnormal creatures by now.
