Douluo Dalu : leviathan (a soul land SI)

Currently I'm in a carriage going towards west Lu city in haagen-dasz kingdom. It was quite a surprised to know Nuoding city was quite close, at least closer to most city mentioned in douluo dalu 1. Anyway few years ago a massive pond was found in the forest of haagen kingdom, so the kingdom decided to make it a hunting ground by bringing sea spirit beast into the pond.

The size of the pond is bigger than an average district. Now you might be surprised how it wasn't found till now, well it didn't exist a few years ago, a natural underground spring appeared that continued to expand until a massive lake was formed. The spirit beast in the forest moved around due to the massive lake and dispute occurred between them, a lot of them died unfortunately.

The kingdom collects fees for entering the hunting ground and makes a large profit off it. Large enough to increase their economy by 20% at least. This just shows how valuable are safe environment to hunt spirit beast in this profession. My fighting system would be power attack system even though my martial soul is a sea beast and I should normally hunt a sea beast but majority of story's event will be on land besides I plan on visiting sea god island in the future for training. I'm leaning towards a snake with decent physical qualities but should be strong poison type.

I forgot to introduce my guardian who will help me get a soul ring. His name is hong xion, his martial spirit is fierce bear with fire attributes. He is quite a rare specimen around here, A fire type spirit master in vast sea city not to mention he is the dean of the academy I will soon graduate with. He is a quite man who only speaks when necessary and only speaks cold hard truth no matter who is in front of him. I like him a lot due to his straight forward nature.

This one time he was beaten quite severely by a soul emperor, apparently he insulted his grandkid or something. It wasn't his fault that kid was crybaby with innate level 2, how could he ever become a soul king. That is exactly Mr.Hong said to the old soul emperor in the face, as I said cold hard truth.

That fight was worth watching even though Mr.hong broke several bones and took 2 full months to recover, He still didn't apologize to that shitty old dog. He is the only person I genuinely like in this place, even our caretaken in orphanage is a bitch with a fake smile hired by corrupt nobles to make loyal guards. I had this weird ability to sense emotion to some degree even in my previous life, at least now I don't think I am crazy.

We've arrived at The haagen forest entrance. After paying at the entrance, we entered the forest. The environment here is clean and gives the feeling of ancient wild. Along the way we encountered many 10 year old beast but ignored them.

Mr.Hong Pov :

Tian Di Zun, that is an arrogant name but it fits his character. He is straight forward like me but a genius unlike I've ever seen, especially his fighting prowess its unlike anything I've ever seen. If I hadn't seen it develop from the scratch I would have believe he was a disciple of some powerful sect.

"So what type of beast do you want?" I ask.

"A snake with powerful poison, any will do but must be potent poison" he replies. 

"I know a few ones, don't you want a sea beast type?" I ask.

"I plan to travel the continent in the future and take a few disciple to teach, land type beast is more suitable for me".

"That's surprising, not one but a few disciple?" I ask surprised.

He smiles fondly as if remembering a memory "I want to be a teacher, not the one to teach crap written in books. Any one can do that, but I want to teach them how to face the world head on".

"That type of thought doesn't match your age brat" I laugh out loud at his face, I'm not mocking his goal but it looks funny to hear a kid wet behind his ear talk about teaching others.

"laughing doesn't suit your stone face too old man", he replies looking at my face.

I pause and look at him sternly but the brat isn't afraid of me and we both laugh out loud together not caring about the location.

"That's an admirable dream kid, Come to me if you ever need help with that", "You want to make your poison stronger for your martial arts right?" I ask again seriously this time.

"yes my body is strong enough, stronger poison will benefit more than gaining a strength/speed enhancing skill with weak poison". I hum understanding his thoughts.

suddenly I hear a crashing noise, most likely a fight between beasts.

"lets go" I shout.

"yes"

1st Pov :

We run towards the noise and just as expected it was a battle between 2 spirit beast. But there was a surprising part, the two fighter were a common grass snake and a shadow leopard. The leopard was over 1 thousand year old with black fur that seems to absorb the light around it. And the grass snake looked just over 600 years old but the strange part was the snake was winning.

A grass snake is a spirit beast with green and blue in color and is commonly domesticated by poison type soul master because it is known as the weakest type of snake and its poison is easy to treat. The shadow panther on the other hand is one of the best choice for initial speed type soul master due to it's speed and stealth abilities in dark. Due to its superior age and speed it should be easy to avoid the grass snake but that's not the case here. We stay hidden and continue to observe, our surprise didn't end there apparently the shadow panther was trying to run but the grass snake wasn't letting it go.

As the shadow panther was roaring in anger suddenly the grass snake leaped forward and bit the panther in its neck, The venom is injected the panther screams in agony and starts to thrash around but the snake doesn't let go. It goes on for a minute before the panther slowly starts to get down and his breadth weakens. It seem the weak Grass snake has won.

"Let's move, The blood will attract attention of predators soon enough" mr.hong says to me. but I stay and look cloesly at the Grass snake and suddenly my eyes widen and I Look at Mr.hong in exictement and say "I want that snake as my 1st spirit ring".

"what!! that snake is incompatible in more than 1 way for you to absorb" Mr.hong replies bewildered by my choice.

"yes I think that grass snake will be perfect for me, I can explain the reasons for it." I tell him in a calm voice.

"Lets hear them, You argued a lot about how you can absorb over 800 years old ring as your 1st ring and with arguments I couldn't talk back with, now you want a mere 600 year old, not that its low to begin with".

"Not to mention, The Grass snake is know for having weak venom, didn't you say you wanted a strong venomous spirit beast?" Mr.hong retorts.

"1st reason is It's venom, Grass snakes venom are slow and painless when injected but that shadow panther screamed in agony and was paralyzed under a minute and finally succumbed to it. Its perfect for my martial arts and will enhance my innate paralyzing poison properties".

"2nd Reason is my Martial soul gave a feeling as if it was highly compatible with it, So age is not the issue for me".

*sigh* "The 1st reason was already enough but your 2nd reason is first one I've heard".

"Listen here Xiao Tian, martial soul are the essence of a soul master and are Extremely mysterious for anyone to fully study it even after centuries. What you've Experienced was a phenomenon called soul Resonance it normally happens when two martial souls with very high compatibility can use martial soul fusion. Never tell anyone about this, this might be an exception but if by chance your martial soul reacts like that in the future never tell anyone whom you don't trust 100% with your life." Mr.hong tells very seriously.

" I'll subdue the snake you deal the final blow".

The snake was already tired and its easy for a soul king incapacitate a century old beast with a slap 'literally'. I take a Dagger and plunge it at the back its neck, the Grass snake moved around for a minute before it finally died. Snake type beast move around even if their head is severed and live for few more minutes though they die eventually no matter how old it is it will not survive without a head.

A yellow ring began rise above the snake's body and I slowly started to guide it towards me with my soul power. As soon as my martial soul formed connection a strong pressure started to attack me. It is hard to explain the strange pressure, like a weight inside my head and a sudden increase of gravity on my body.

A voice of mr.hong reached my ear "Circulate the soul power until the pressure is bearable then start absorbing the soul ring and remember to fight back against the snake's resentments in your mind". I did as instructed and circulated my soul power, In just a few breadths the pressure was 80% gone.

As I started absorbing the soul ring, A giant grass snake appeared in my mind, just as I was ready to fight back my martial soul appeared behind me. As soon as it appeared, the grass snake shrank back and became small as if scared to fight back no, it couldn't move at all.

Is this suppression of leviathan, even though it is currently a snake it's still a leviathan. It just stood there when my martial soul tore it apart into dissipating energy with just a single strike. The dissipating energy was getting absorbed by my martial soul. The leviathan transferred the energy back to me and I could feel myself getting stronger. With that the rest of the process became a breeze, I completed the ring absorption in half an hour. 

As I opened my eyes, I could see mr.hong looking at me worry and hope. "So how was it?" he asks.

"It went smoother than I thought, I got a decent skill but the buff for my poison is better."

"Ho most people would be mad if they got a weak skill, then again you aren't most people." "so what did you get?". mr.hong asks me.

"Its better if you see it yourself". "hold out your hand", I request to mr.hong.

"If you kill me, I will haunt you as a ghost brat". he says but still complies.

"first soul skill" I shout out loud and lightly punch his palm.

"That's it, doesn't seem mu-" he suddenly screams and looks at his hand and sees a green patch of color where I made contact with. But he shows his experience by circulating his soul power and the green patch fades away quickly, As a veteran soul master it isn't that easy to get caught off guard by me, but this shows how unique my soul skill is.

"My first soul skill is called 'pain poison'. It comes from the mutated grass snake, This soul skill converts my soul power to invisible poison that causes pain when in contact. Due to your higher strength it took a few seconds to take effect".

"This is a good skill for you but for typical poison soul master a ranged, area of effect poison attack is preferred". "You said you got something better, what is it that's better than this?". mr.hong asks shrugging off the poison.

"I'm glad you asked, this skill can be passively used with my innate soul properties". "Meaning my soul power now has pain and paralyzing effect". I reply happily to mr.hong.

"wow, just wow" "For any defense type soul master, this skill will be a nightmare". mumbles mr.hong.

"lets go back, I want to keep testing my soul skill back in academy". I say to mr.hong.

He simply nods as he puts the snake and panther's corpse in his soul guiding tool and we return to academy.
