Chapter 19: Chapter 19
Chapter 19: Meeting Shui Bing'er
Two figures suddenly appeared from the direction where the Snow Eagle had flown from.
The two people were one old and one young, one man and one woman. The man appeared to be in his sixties or seventies, with short white hair and a goat beard. He wore brocade clothes and exuded an air of vitality. His skin was as rosy as a newborn's, and a pair of blue eyes fixed on the Snow Eagle beneath Ye Feng's feet.
Following the old man was a pretty young girl, dressed in a neat outfit that tightly wrapped around her growing body. Her long aqua blue hair cascaded behind her, and her fair face bore delicate features. At first glance, she didn't seem particularly striking, but upon closer inspection, her beauty became undeniable—a kind of ethereal beauty. Her blue eyes also stared at the Snow Eagle under Ye Feng's feet.
"Is there something wrong?" Chen Xin's tone was calm, but it carried an edge that could pierce one's heart.
"I'm Shui Ruohan," the old man introduced himself, and seven spirit rings appeared under his feet: two yellow, two purple, and three black. He was a Spirit Saint. The icy air around him condensed into the form of an Ice Phoenix, the powerful beast spirit he possessed.
Chen Xin said nothing, his expression unreadable, as he simply gazed at the old man quietly.
"Dear sir, you cannot allow this child to obtain the spirit ring of this spirit beast!" the old man, Shui Ruohan, said.
"Why?" Chen Xin asked calmly.
"Because we were the first to discover this spirit beast," the old man replied.
"You found it first?" Ye Feng asked in surprise. The original plot began to resurface in his mind, but now things had changed. Instead of meeting Meng Yiran and the snake woman Chao Tianxiang, he had encountered an old man claiming to be Shui Ruohan.
Ice Phoenix?
Ye Feng's heart trembled. He recognized the old man's top-grade beast spirit. He subconsciously turned his gaze to the girl beside him. If his guess was correct, these two were from Tianshui Academy, and the girl was Shui Bing'er—the talented beauty who had once caused Tang San to hesitate before starting to practice the Clear Sky Hammer.
Ye Feng paused and asked, "How do you prove that you were the first to discover this spirit beast?"
"Little friend, that's easy. You just need to look at the belly of the Snow Eagle. You'll find a few scars there. Those are marks left by my spirit skills. If the Snow Eagle hadn't been so cautious and cunning, Bing'er would have already obtained its spirit ring," Shui Ruohan said, smiling.
Ye Feng reached out and grabbed the wings of the Snow Eagle, turning it over to reveal its abdomen. Sure enough, he noticed several bleeding scars. These were clearly the result of the old man's spirit skills. Since Chen Xin hadn't used the Seven Killing Sword, it was clear that these injuries were left by Shui Ruohan.
"That's true. The one who intercepted and seriously injured this spirit beast was my grandmaster," Ye Feng explained.
"Little friend, you have a point," Shui Ruohan acknowledged. "If not for you, this Snow Eagle would likely have escaped. Tell me, has your spirit power reached level 20?"
"I think so," Ye Feng replied casually.
"As expected," Shui Ruohan's deep eyes gleamed, and he stroked his beard with admiration. He was amazed that Ye Feng had reached level 20 at such a young age. "I, Shui Ruohan, am not unreasonable. We discovered this Snow Eagle first, but you were the ones who intercepted and seriously injured it. The spirit beasts in this Soul Hunting Forest are all free for the taking. Without us, you wouldn't have found the Snow Eagle. Without you, I'm afraid the Snow Eagle would have escaped. How about this: you and my granddaughter can have a competition. Whoever wins will claim the spirit beast. Is that acceptable?"
"This…" Ye Feng hesitated.
Familiar with the story of Douluo, Ye Feng knew that Shui Bing'er was exceptionally talented, and her first spirit skill was Ice-based. Meanwhile, Ye Feng only had one auxiliary spirit skill—Beast Blood Boiling. If he were to fight Shui Bing'er, he estimated that his chances of winning would only be around 50%.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Chen Xin's voice suddenly rang out.
As soon as he spoke, nine spirit rings appeared beneath his feet.
Nine spirit rings marked him as a Title Douluo.
His spirit ring configuration was two yellow, two purple, and five black, meaning that Chen Xin was a Title Douluo with a standard configuration.
"Seven Killing Swords?" Shui Ruohan seemed stunned, almost petrified. He muttered, "Are you Jian Dao Chen Xin?"
"Get out!" Chen Xin's cold and domineering voice rang out.
Shui Ruohan stood there, frozen in place. Under the pressure of Chen Xin's soul power—exceeding level 90—he was completely subdued. Despite Chen Xin's commanding words, Shui Ruohan maintained his composure. He respectfully bowed and saluted Chen Xin.
"Your Majesty, please excuse our interruption," Shui Ruohan said, his tone full of Confucian respect. He called for his granddaughter, Shui Bing'er, and turned to leave.
"Please wait," Ye Feng suddenly called out.
Shui Ruohan turned around, and Shui Bing'er followed suit.
Ye Feng looked at Shui Bing'er.
Despite her spirit beast being "taken" by Ye Feng, Shui Bing'er remained calm, looking at him steadily. Ye Feng couldn't help but view her with newfound respect. Shui Bing'er was so young, yet she could control her emotions and remain rational in such circumstances.
An extraordinary person.
This was Ye Feng's first impression of Shui Bing'er. With such a temperament, she was destined for greatness.
After Ye Feng spoke, both Shui Bing'er and Shui Ruohan, as well as Chen Xin, looked at him in surprise. None of them understood why Ye Feng had agreed to this challenge.
Ye Feng spoke solemnly, like someone far older than his years: "I accept your challenge."
"Are you sure?" Shui Bing'er, still young, asked with concern.
Shui Ruohan glanced at Ye Feng before his gaze shifted to Chen Xin. For Shui Ruohan, Chen Xin was the only person he truly feared.
"I'm sure," Ye Feng replied.
"Your Majesty, is this really acceptable?" Shui Ruohan asked, turning to Chen Xin.
"Since Ye Feng has agreed, let there be a competition," Chen Xin responded without hesitation.
Chen Xin was also curious to see how Ye Feng would fare against Shui Bing'er, given that Ye Feng had no offensive spirit skills. Could it be that Ye Feng would use the unity of man and sword to win?
Chen Xin believed that if Ye Feng was to defeat Shui Bing'er, it would likely be through the unity of man and sword, a technique he had taught Ye Feng.
