Douluo Dalu (Soul Land): I Am Invincible

Chapter 48: Chapter 48: Why are you so weak?

After Fu Ye left, Tang Chuan, who had collapsed on the ground, gradually regained his ability to move.

The working students couldn't help but feel delighted seeing the usually arrogant Tang Chuan beaten into such a state.

But at this moment, Tang Chuan's face was twisted with fury.

"Xiao San, we're brothers. That guy just now…"

Tang Chuan glared at his past self with deep regret. 'Why are you so weak? Go after him!'

'Brother, I can't beat him… and you didn't help me when I was getting beaten earlier.'

Well, Tang Chuan had truly mastered the art of double standards. Only he could pull off something as shameless as betraying his past self.

But right now, he was seething with rage. He was almost certain that Xiao Wu had transformed twelve years earlier—and worse, her purest feelings had been stolen by that young man!

The thought filled him with uncontrollable anger. He wanted to tear the man who took his Xiao Wu into pieces!

After a moment of consideration, he decided to bide his time. Once he broke through to become a Soul Grandmaster, he would force that old man Dugu Bo to serve him. Then, he'd make the man kneel and lick his shoes like a dog!

Xiao Wu was his. Anyone who dared touch her would die—no exceptions!

But then, he suddenly remembered the girl who looked 80% like Xiao Wu. A thought struck him, and he slapped his thigh in realization.

"Snap!"

That's right! His Xiao Wu had come here with him. If there were two versions of him here, did that mean there was a second Xiao Wu as well?

Two Xiao Wus—double the happiness!

The thought made Tang Chuan's grin widen uncontrollably, though he kept his expression calm as he glanced at his past self with faint disdain.

With his past-life experience, he'd take what was his in advance. After all, if this was his reincarnation, shouldn't he contribute his share of opportunities?

'Just be a good stepping stone for me… hehehe.'

Evening, Second Floor of the Cafeteria

Tang San and Tang Chuan had been invited by Yu Xiaogang to dine on the second floor. Despite his frugal lifestyle, Yu Xiaogang still had some savings after years of penny-pinching.

"Hey, this is the second floor. Lowly trash like you aren't allowed up here."

Before they could even step onto the stairs, a noble-looking boy ordered his lackeys to block their path.

"Get lost now, unless you're looking to die."

Tang Chuan was already boiling with anger and had no outlet for it. If this weren't the cafeteria, he'd have made these bastards pay in blood!

But when Tang San heard his older brother's words, he froze for a moment, feeling something was… off.

'Huh? Isn't that supposed to be my line?'

"Haha, looking for death? Looks like you're begging for a beating today."

At the noble boy's words, everyone at the table stood up, eyeing Tang San and Tang Chuan with mocking grins.

Still fuming over the morning's events, they were eager to vent their frustrations—and these two made perfect punching bags.

"Kill them! My father is the City Lord of Nuoding City—I'll take responsibility if anything happens!"

That's right, it was Xiao Chenyu, the early-story bully. Though, to be fair, the original plot had a glaring flaw: despite being the son of a city lord, after being humiliated by Xiao Wu and Tang San, his family never retaliated.

"Dancing Stick, come out!"

The tallest boy near Tang San struck first, swinging a long staff with brutal force.

"Bind!"

Tang Chuan, despite lacking a soul ring, proved why he was the reincarnation of the Divine King—using his genius intellect, he improvised a Blue Silver Grass Bind technique!

"Shhhh!"

Dozens of Blue Silver Kings erupted from the ground! Seeing the attack, Tang San also unleashed his Blue Silver Grass in a frenzy.

But just then, a sharp, slightly effeminate voice cut through the chaos.

"What do you think you're doing?!"

It was none other than Grandmaster Yu Xiaogang, who had just barely regained his mobility.

Clutching his waist, he limped forward unsteadily. The sight was so pitiful that bystanders quickly backed away—who knew if he'd try to extort them next?

Xiao Chenyu, however, wasn't intimidated in the slightest.

After six years at the academy, he knew all its dirty secrets—and he had nothing but contempt for this so-called "Grandmaster."

"Hey, you—the ass-selling fraud! You dare yell at me? You got a death wish?"

His voice boomed across the cafeteria, reaching even Fu Ye, who had just entered, along with Xiao Wu and Wu Ling.

'Ass-selling?!'

Now that was a scandalous revelation!

Fu Ye glanced at Yu Xiaogang and shrugged. 'Oh, it's you. Makes sense.'

Xiao Wu and Wu Ling, however, were utterly confused. 'What does "ass-selling" mean?'

Yu Xiaogang's face turned purple with rage, but he held back. After all, the boy was the city lord's son.

A strong dragon cannot crush a local snake—a saying that suited him perfectly.

(Dragon? More like a farting pig. You're no dragon.)

"Boy, you're asking for death!"

As the loyal disciple of Yu Xiaogang, Tang Chuan couldn't let such an insult slide. His Blue Silver Kings lashed out toward Xiao Chenyu.

"Tang Chuan, stop!"

Just before the vines reached their target, Yu Xiaogang shouted, halting the attack.

Despite his murderous intent, Tang Chuan obeyed.

"Yes, Teacher."

Yu Xiaogang's cowardice was a joke to the students, but they were far more interested in Xiao Chenyu's accusation.

Just what kind of rumors were floating around?

"Come on, I'll treat you to dinner."

Fu Ye pushed open the door and headed straight for the second floor. Wu Ling hesitated, her eyes darting nervously at the luxurious decor.

"Don't worry, Sister Wu Ling. As long as I'm here, no one will bully you."

Xiao Wu squeezed her hand reassuringly. Wu Ling met her clear gaze and nodded, a flicker of confidence returning.

"Okay, Sister Xiao Wu."

As Fu Ye stepped into view, Xiao Chenyu and his gang instantly scrambled back to their seats, legs trembling. Their earlier bravado had vanished.

Yu Xiaogang, meanwhile, shrank back like a frightened mouse, dragging Tang San and Tang Chuan to a corner table. The two boys kept their heads down, silently studying the menu.

"Huh? What's their deal? Practicing for a play?"

The cafeteria was bustling, and by the time Fu Ye finished ordering, Tang San was already stuffing his face.

Their table manners were… something else.

Tang Chuan and Tang San ate like starved wolves. After Yu Xiaogang told them to order freely, they each demanded a massive plate of fried meat and a dozen chicken legs.

Truth was, they'd never tasted meat in their lives—not even a drop of oily soup.

With Tang Hao no longer burdened by his wife's memory or the sect's rules, he couldn't care less about these two brats.

Even though Tang San had twin spirits, Tang Hao barely acknowledged him. In his mind, as long as they awakened their spirits, his duty was done.

Their upbringing for the past six years? Bare-minimum survival—two bowls of porridge a day to keep them from starving.

Once they became Spirit Masters, the Spirit Hall's subsidies would cover the rest. Why bother? If they died, so what? They were just bastards anyway.
