Douluo Dalu: Starting Evolution as the Man-Faced Demon Spider

Chapter 244: Chapter 244: The Goddess of Life

Seeing the Ice Empress agree to lead him to the gods, Fang Chang beamed and immediately sent signals to the other two teams.

A short while later, the other two groups received the signal and arrived, converging with Fang Chang's party.

The Ice Empress's large eyes darted around, carefully sizing up the dozen or so strangers. To her astonishment, she realized that every single one of them was stronger than her, perhaps even stronger than her elder sister.

With them... maybe they really can drive away those outsiders who call themselves gods.

"Bibi Dong, Qian Renxue, how did it go on your end?" Fang Chang asked after they arrived.

"Fine. Nothing to report," Bibi Dong replied, her voice as proud as ever.

"We found a god sealed in ice and eliminated it," Qian Renxue, on the other hand, brought good news.

"What about you?" she asked in return.

Fang Chang then pointed to the Ice Empress at his side and introduced her to the assembled gods. "This is a native we found here. She says she can lead us to the hiding places of the other gods, which is why I called you all over."

"Oh, is that so?" Bibi Dong exclaimed in surprise, clearly finding it hard to believe a human could live in such a place.

After taking a closer look at the Ice Empress, she understood. "Ah, so it's a soul beast."

Being discussed by such a powerful group, the Ice Empress's small frame couldn't help but shrink back, looking very uncomfortable.

"Let's go, Miss Ice Empress. Lead us to deal with those gods quickly, so we can return peace to your home." Only Fang Chang seemed approachable and friendly to her.

"Mm," the Ice Empress nodded her small head firmly and pointed west with a small hand. "Follow me. There's one not far from here."

The gods followed her, swiftly crossing the snow-covered wasteland and stopping at the edge of an ice lake.

Just as she had said, a fallen god who had descended with the Goddess of Life was hidden within this ice lake.

Fang Chang didn't even need to act personally. The gods under his command made short work of the entity, finishing it off in a flash.

Watching this group so easily dispose of a god, the Ice Empress's eyes went wide, and she remained stunned for a long time.

"Let's go, on to the next one. We need to hurry." As soon as the matter was settled, Fang Chang left two gods behind to clean up and turned back to the Ice Empress.

"Oh, oh, okay. I'll take you now." She looked at the ice field to get her bearings. "This way."

With the Ice Empress as their guide, Fang Chang's group found the gods much faster. In less than half an hour, they had already dug out five fallen gods.

However, the Goddess of Life was not among these five, and Gu Yue grew increasingly anxious. Every minute they delayed gave the Goddess of Life another minute to potentially escape.

"Little girl, let me ask you," she said, stopping the Ice Empress who was still leading the way. "Among these gods, is there a leader, one whose weapon is an ancient tree?"

"Uh..." Her question interrupted the Ice Empress's thoughts. She stopped and thought carefully.

"I think... I think there might be someone like that," she said, uncertainly.

She had caught a glimpse of most of these gods, and the places where they were sealed in ice had now become forbidden zones in the Land of Extreme North.

She seemed to recall seeing someone matching Gu Yue's description somewhere.

"Take me to her, quickly," Gu Yue demanded, grabbing the Ice Empress's shoulders in a flurry of impatience.

The Ice Empress, however, looked troubled. "If you ask me where these ice-sealed beings are, I can still help."

"But... if you want me to pinpoint a specific one, to be honest, I can't be sure who is buried where."

"Besides, I only think I might have seen someone like that..."

The Ice Empress answered cautiously, afraid of saying the wrong thing and angering the fierce big sister in front of her.

Gu Yue's hands slowly loosened their grip, and she lowered her head in frustration. This time, she realized she was being unreasonable.

"Wait, I think I might know where she could be," the Ice Empress suddenly interjected, as if she had just remembered something.

Gu Yue's eyes shot back up to look at her, her expression clearly saying, 'You'd better give me an explanation, or you'll be sorry.'

The Ice Empress shivered under her gaze and quickly explained, "It's like this. There's a place in the Land of Extreme North that is extremely cold. We call it the Snow Eye."

"That's where my elder sister was born, and we were always in control of it."

"But ever since those self-proclaimed gods arrived, they've occupied that place. The strongest among them are likely sealed in ice there."

The Ice Empress explained word by word, then asked cautiously, "Should we go there now?"

"Go," Gu Yue declared, standing up straight again. If what the little girl said was true, then the Snow Eye was most likely the Goddess of Life's hiding place.

After all, the colder the weather, the better the ice seal, and the more divine power could be preserved. As the leader of this group of gods, the Goddess of Life would absolutely not pass up such a location.

Led by the Ice Empress, it took Fang Chang and his group of over a dozen people nearly twenty minutes to reach the vicinity of the so-called Snow Eye.

This was considered the very center of the entire Land of Extreme North, and the climate was countless times harsher than the outer regions.

The most surprising feature was a cave, about ten meters in diameter. It seemed to be constantly spewing out frigid winds and snowflakes. This must be the Snow Eye.

"It's over there. Let's go," the Ice Empress said, pointing to the cave for the people behind her.

In the past, she wouldn't have dared to venture any further upon reaching this point. But now, with over a dozen powerful helpers behind her, her courage swelled.

If we can take this place back, Big Sister will definitely reward me handsomely, the Ice Empress thought gleefully.

Gazing at the cave, Gu Yue also grew excited. Here, she could clearly feel the aura of the Goddess of Life blowing out from the cave with the cold wind.

This time was different from the others. The aura was incredibly distinct; it couldn't be a fake.

"Let's move," Fang Chang waved his hand, about to charge into the cave with his dozen or so gods.

But at that moment, the cave changed. The frigid wind and snowflakes that had been blowing out suddenly stopped. In their place emerged an indescribable wave of life force.

Around the cave, green plants forcefully broke through the ice- and snow-covered ground and began to spread outwards, a scene that was utterly incongruous with the surroundings.

Immediately after, an extremely powerful aura rushed out from the cave, announcing the revival of its owner.

Before Fang Chang and his group could even charge into the valley, a woman had already walked out.

She wore a pure white dress that complemented the snowy landscape. Her face was exquisite and full of spiritual charm, and in her hand, she held an ancient tree the size of a scepter.

It was the Goddess of Life! After searching for so long, she had finally appeared!
