Douluo Dalu: Stealing Through The Heavens

Chapter 102: The Ten-Thousand-Year Fourth Spirit Ring

In the center of Sunset Forest, there is a narrow mountain valley. A green light streaked through the air, landing on a towering tree. As the light gradually faded, it revealed two figures—one older and one younger—who had come to hunt spirit beasts. They were Dugu Bo and Zuzong.

"Kid, do you really think that a spirit beast you need will be in such a narrow valley?" Dugu Bo asked, looking at Zuzong.

Zuzong nodded, "I've been to Sunset Forest before, and I once saw a spirit beast that looked like a dragon but without claws around here. We've searched everywhere else, except for this inconspicuous little valley."

In fact, Zuzong hadn't actually seen this spirit beast before. His assumption came from two months ago when he was helping Yu Tianheng find his fourth spirit ring. While using the Blue Silver Domain, he had sensed a dragon-like spirit beast that disappeared within this small valley, with an aura similar to Yu Tianheng's Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon.

The guess about it lacking claws was based on the Azure Bull Python, as there were only a few dragons left in the Douluo Continent.

Dugu Bo was startled at first, then his eyes widened, and he looked incredulous. "Could it be that you're talking about the Green-Eyed Scaled Dragon?"

"You've seen it?" Zuzong asked, surprised.

Dugu Bo shook his head, his expression serious. "I haven't actually seen this spirit beast, but decades ago, when I was still at the rank of Spirit Emperor, I heard about a Green-Eyed Scaled Dragon appearing in Sunset Forest, which severely injured several Spirit Sages despite having less than ten-thousand-year cultivation."

"A spirit beast with less than ten-thousand-year cultivation that could severely injure several Spirit Sages?" Zuzong exclaimed in shock. That would mean this creature could rival the Titan Giant Ape.

Dugu Bo nodded. "But after that, it disappeared without a trace. I've searched for it during my many years in Sunset Forest, but never found it. I never expected it to be in this narrow valley. Well then, I'll go down and take a look."

As he spoke, Dugu Bo leapt down into the narrow valley.

Moments later, the valley shook violently, with rocks flying at the entrance, raising a cloud of dust.

Dugu Bo was the first to emerge, a wide grin on his face.

A deafening roar followed. Then, from the valley emerged a pale green Scaled Dragon with green eyes, a hooked nose, spikes all over its body, and a length of over ten meters.

"Ha ha! Kid, you've got some luck—it's indeed that Green-Eyed Scaled Dragon from decades ago," Dugu Bo laughed heartily.

Zuzong also smiled, "Please, senior Dugu, help me subdue it."

As he spoke, Zuzong commanded in his mind, "System, read the information on this Scaled Dragon."

[Ding, system reading in progress]

[Spirit Beast: Green-Eyed Scaled Dragon

Cultivation: 10,500 years

Traits: Strength, speed, endurance, absorbs spirit power, with strong binding and destructive capabilities.]

Zuzong marveled, "It's truly a ten-thousand-year spirit beast, and it seems to have great potential!"

While Zuzong admired the Green-Eyed Scaled Dragon, Dugu Bo had already entered his martial soul true form and was battling the dragon. The Green-Eyed Scaled Dragon was formidable, as it had been able to severely injure several Spirit Sages decades ago, and its cultivation had now surpassed ten thousand years. It could hold its own against Dugu Bo's thirty-meter-long Jade Phosphor Serpent Emperor form for a short while.

But eventually, it could only delay the inevitable. Soon, the Scaled Dragon was overwhelmed, attempting to burrow into the ground to escape, but was struck by a fatal blow from Dugu Bo's Jade Phosphor Serpent Emperor venom, leaving it paralyzed and unable to resist.

Seeing the dragon enveloped in black energy, Zuzong furrowed his brow slightly and thought, "It seems this Scaled Dragon's weakness is its fear of venom. But once I absorb it, this weakness will no longer exist."

Dugu Bo turned to Zuzong, "Kid, are you sure you want this beast as your fourth spirit ring? If I'm not mistaken, it has surpassed ten-thousand-year cultivation."

Zuzong nodded without directly answering. He raised his right hand, and a faint white light appeared on his skin. Then, a deep blue, almost black, Blue Silver Emperor with golden patterns emerged from his palm.

Yellow, purple, purple—three distinct rings rose from his feet, spiraling around his body.

For the first time since becoming a spirit master, Zuzong removed the disguise effect of his Blue Silver Domain, revealing the true colors of his spirit rings.

"Second spirit ring, millennium," Dugu Bo exclaimed in surprise. "What kind of monster is this? And how did you change the colors of your spirit rings?"

Zuzong nodded, "My first spirit ring is close to 600 years, the second is 1,100 years, and the third is nearly 3,000 years. Now, do you think I can absorb this ten-thousand-year spirit beast?"

Dugu Bo replied, "But I remember your previous rings were yellow, yellow, purple. Could it be…?"

Zuzong smiled slightly, "It seems you've figured it out. Yes, it's the domain. When I awakened my martial soul, it came with a domain that I named the Blue Silver Domain. The first ability of this domain is disguise, which allows me to change the colors of my spirit rings at will or even hide one entirely."

Dugu Bo took a deep breath, astonished. Even with his usual calm demeanor, he couldn't hide his shock.

Dugu Bo suddenly understood. "No wonder your second spirit ability could counter my purple snake venom after I activated my martial soul. Well, the decision is yours! But let me remind you, this Green-Eyed Scaled Dragon is no ordinary ten-thousand-year spirit beast; it might even rival some with twenty to thirty thousand years of cultivation."

As he spoke, Dugu Bo sat cross-legged on the ground, closing his eyes to wait for Zuzong to absorb the spirit ring.

Zuzong summoned the spirit ring into his body and released the Eight Spider Lances from his back. For safety, he didn't approach the dragon directly. Instead, he drew a sword, infused it with spirit power, and pierced the dragon's eye with unmatched speed, reaching its brain. The dragon shuddered, and its life force began to fade.

Noticing the dragon's state, the Eight Spider Lances pierced directly into its vital points.

Even as it lay beneath him, the Green-Eyed Scaled Dragon continued to tremble, its powerful energy flowing through the Eight Spider Lances into Zuzong's body. To his surprise, the violent energy would circulate within him, then flow back into the lances and condense along his spine. His spine and the ribs that held the Eight Spider Lances burned like an abyss, absorbing the energy.

Zuzong, amazed, thought, "What kind of Scaled Dragon is this? The original story said that only devouring the Man-Faced Demon Spider's energy could lead to full absorption. How can this dragon also work?"

This was the first time Zuzong used the devouring ability of his Eight Spider Lances, targeting the Green-Eyed Scaled Dragon.

Unable to understand it, Zuzong decided not to worry further. Since it could be devoured, he might as well proceed—perhaps it would evolve his Eight Spider Lances.

As Zuzong continued to devour, the Green-Eyed Scaled Dragon's life force finally dissipated completely.
