Chapter 13: First Spirit Skill: Poison Dragon Entanglement
"What? My spirit power has suddenly increased to level fourteen."
Zuzong exclaimed in surprise.
He had considered it.
Not only had he accumulated spirit power for more than three months, but he had also absorbed a spirit ring above his level, so he knew he wouldn't remain at just level eleven.
But he never expected to jump straight to level fourteen; this was truly an unexpected delight!

"Zuzong, are you still alive? Can you hear me?" In the distance, Blanklin's voice called out.
"Oh no, I completely forgot about Blanklin!" Zuzong slapped his forehead in annoyance.
With a burst of speed, he leaped onto a tree and quickly disappeared, heading toward Blanklin.
Blanklin sat on a large rock, filled with regret. Why did he have to fall asleep? A six-year-old child lost in the Soul Beast Hunting Forest, surrounded by dangerous spirit beasts... things were not looking good.
Thinking of this, Blanklin's eyes reddened, and his throat tightened. He choked, "Sigh! Zuzong, you troublesome kid, Old Lin has let you down!"
"Who do you feel sorry for, Director?" A little blue-silver-haired head poked out from a nearby tree.
"Who is it?" Blanklin was already in a bad mood, and now someone had touched a nerve. Just as he was about to lose his temper, he found the voice familiar. Turning around, he saw a boy with long blue-silver hair hanging upside down from the tree. His feet weren't hooked onto anything; they were simply attached to the tree's trunk.
Blanklin's eyes lit up. "Such advanced spirit power control techniques! To be able to control spirit power so effortlessly and attach oneself to a tree trunk upside down!"
Wiping his tears away, Blanklin focused on the boy's handsome face and exclaimed in surprise, "Zuzong, you're alive! I knew you were tough!"
Zuzong was also taken aback. He didn't expect someone he had known for less than three days to be so genuinely concerned about him. He felt a bit ashamed. Earlier, when he had gone to hunt the "Mandala Snake" alone, it was partly to test his strength and partly because he didn't fully trust this Director.
Life only comes once; what if the other party had evil intentions while he was absorbing the spirit ring? Still, he did not regret it, for now, he couldn't reveal his twin spirits.
Releasing the spirit power attached to his feet, Zuzong performed a backflip and landed steadily in front of Blanklin.
"Director, I'm blessed and highly favoured. Of course, I'm fine!"
Seeing Zuzong unharmed, Blanklin's joy turned to anger. He delivered a karate chop to Zuzong's little head.
"Ouch, it hurts!" Zuzong was on the verge of tears from the pain.
"Hmph, good! As long as you know it hurts! See if you dare run around again." Blanklin crossed his arms sternly.
Blanklin: Hehe, that felt good. Serves you right for seeing me cry!
Zuzong: Why do all adults these days like to sneak attack with karate chops?
Hearing Blanklin's scolding, Zuzong stood straight and bowed his head in acknowledgment.
Zuzong said, "I'm sorry, Director!"
Blanklin nodded, "Hmm, it's good you know your mistake. Let's continue finding your first spirit ring!"
First spirit ring? I already have one, but how should I tell Blanklin? Should I just say that a six-year-old boy killed a 560-year-old Mandala Snake?
Hey, got it!
With this thought, Zuzong replied, "Hehe! Director, look."
As he spoke, Zuzong raised his right hand. A faint white light appeared on his skin, and then the deep blue and black Blue Silver Emperor surged from his palm. A clear spirit ring rose from under his feet, spiraling up and down his body. It was the hallmark of a one-ring Spirit Master.
"A century-old spirit ring," Blanklin exclaimed. Could this kid have killed a century-old spirit beast all by himself? If so, that would be terrifying. It would mean he was already comparable to a Spirit Elder! But he quickly dismissed that idea.
"Zuzong, who helped you obtain the spirit ring?" Blanklin still believed someone had assisted him. Otherwise, Zuzong probably wouldn't have survived, let alone obtained a spirit ring.
"It was Grandpa Tom, whom I mentioned to you before! Last night, I got up to use the bathroom and got lost. Grandpa Tom happened to be nearby and helped me hunt my first spirit ring," Zuzong lied with a straight face.
Blanklin showed an understanding expression. That made sense. Zuzong was just a kid from a small village. It was unlikely he knew other spirit masters, and powerful spirit masters often saw themselves as superior, not the type to help a random six-year-old.
"I see. If it was Senior Tom, then it's not surprising. Now, let me see your first spirit skill."
Spirits, after obtaining a spirit ring, go through a mutation process to generate a skill. Different spirits produce different skills, even with the same spirit ring, and the skill also varies with the spirit ring's age.
Zuzong said, "My first spirit ring came from a Mandala Snake with about 400 years of cultivation (off-screen: Hehe! I won't tell you it was actually 560 years). Just as I expected, the 'Blue Silver Grass' inherited the python's terrifying strength, speed, and toughness, and even gained its toxic corrosive ability."
"First Spirit Skill—Poison Dragon Entanglement!"
As he spoke, Zuzong controlled his spirit, the Blue Silver Emperor, with his spirit power, releasing the skill.
Dozens to hundreds of deep blue vines with a black phosphorescent sheen burst from the grass, quickly entangling a tree trunk that would take two or three people to hug around. The vines attacked in a spiraling formation, covering an area of several dozen square meters. Anyone within this range had no chance to dodge.
In an instant, the Blue Silver Emperor vines had tightly coiled around the tree.
Under the enormous force of the Blue Silver Emperor vines, the tree trunk emitted a creaking sound.
Simultaneously, black scales appeared on the Blue Silver Emperor vines, which were inherited from the Black-scaled Venomous Python. The scales were extremely hard; Zuzong had tested them with a kunai, which couldn't cut through.
From the gaps between the scales oozed a purple liquid that, when it touched the tree trunk, caused white smoke to rise. The places it touched were corroded and turned to charred remains.
Crack, crack.
Under the dual effects of tremendous force and corrosive poison, the tree trunk splintered and shattered in just a short while, finally breaking in half.
Blanklin's jaw almost hit the ground in shock.
You're telling me this is a first spirit skill? If I don't use my third spirit skill to counter this, I'm not sure I could survive. That corrosive toxin is terrifying.
After a long while, Blanklin finally came to his senses.
"Hmm, this skill is decent. Senior Tom is indeed a master to have found such a good spirit ring for you."
Originally, Blanklin would have said this in his heart.
But as the director, how could he lose face in front of his student? So, pretending to be profound, he said to Zuzong, "This spirit skill is good. It reminds me of my youth. But you must continue to work hard."
Zuzong rolled his eyes. Wasn't it you who nearly had your jaw drop in shock?
"Your lesson is noted," Zuzong replied, giving Blanklin an excuse to save face, partly out of guilt.
