Douluo Dalu: The Legend of The Spider Emperor

Chapter 2: Chapter 2: I Come from Earth Village

In every corner of Douluo Continent, you can find the presence of the Spirit Hall, and Notting City is no exception.

The urgent matter is to head to the Spirit Hall branch in Notting City to undergo the spirit awakening ceremony.

Under the "previous" system's manipulation, this body has already reached the best age for awakening a spirit: six years old.

Ye Hao stepped out of the dark, cold alley. The blazing sun overhead felt blinding. In this spirit-centered Douluo Continent, Ye Hao's presence did not cause much of a stir. Passersby merely glanced at him before continuing on their way.

Ye Hao didn't think much of it. Looking at the differences in the city compared to his previous life, he felt a surge of excitement.

In front of the Spirit Hall branch, after much inquiry, Ye Hao finally arrived. What came into view was a dome-shaped building with three levels.

As the lowest-ranking of the Spirit Hall, the symbol at the entrance was just a long sword.

"Stop! This is the Spirit Hall; no outsiders are allowed inside."

The two guards at the entrance blocked Ye Hao, looking at his ragged appearance, which clearly suggested he was a beggar…

"Uncle, hello! My name is Ye Hao. I'm here to awaken my spirit," Ye Hao said, putting on a pitiful expression as he spoke to the guards.

The guards were momentarily taken aback, their eyes meeting.

"Where are your parents?"

"They died. A while ago, wolf bandits attacked our village, and I was the only one who survived. I stumbled my way to Notting City," Ye Hao explained.

The guards' eyes flickered with anger. The wolf bandits are a combination of humans and Wind Demon Wolves. Such creatures can only be handled by powerful spirit masters. For an ordinary person like Ye Hao, who hadn't yet awakened his spirit, it was as good as being dead.

Immediately, one of the guards led Ye Hao into the Spirit Hall branch.

Inside, the place was luxurious and grand. Despite Notting City's less favorable location and the Spirit Hall branch being the lowest grade, it had everything one could expect.

There were not many people inside the branch, only a few cleaners. When they saw Ye Hao enter with the guard, they didn't react and continued with their tasks.

"I'm exhausted…"

A young man in his twenties entered, swaying with a backpack on his back. He wore a white outfit, a black cloak draped over him, and was sweating profusely as he walked toward Ye Hao, panting heavily.

"Master Su, you're back?"

The guard stepped forward to take off Master Su's backpack with a smile.

Master Su nodded and looked at Ye Hao, who was dressed in rags. Could it be…

"Where is this child from?"

Master Su asked.

"Hello, Master Su! My name is Ye Hao, and I'm here to awaken my spirit," Ye Hao replied.

Master Su scratched his head in confusion. "That doesn't make sense. I've been to many villages recently; how could I have missed you? Which village are you from?"

"Master Su, this child is very pitiful. His village was slaughtered by wolf bandits, and he is left all alone," the guard explained.

Hearing this, Master Su looked at Ye Hao with sympathy and sighed deeply.

"Forget it; another one is another one. You said your name is Ye Hao, right? Come with me."

Ye Hao secretly gave a thumbs up to the guard, grateful for the uncle's help. Following Master Su into a slightly larger room, he saw two people inside: an old man and a young woman.

The old man sat at a desk, dressed neatly in the Spirit Hall's spirit master uniform, while the woman stood respectfully in front of him, as if reporting something...

"There are two people with innate soul power level five in this spirit awakening, and several with innate soul power levels two and three. The rest have no soul power at all," the woman said weakly. In recent years, there haven't been many good seedlings, and the awakened spirits have been quite bizarre. Just from the villages she had visited, her experiences had already left a significant impression on her.

The old man sighed, "Thank you for your hard work, Si Si. I wonder how Yuntao is doing over there."

Suddenly—

The door swung open, and Master Su entered with Ye Hao.

"Yuntao! Why are you still so reckless? A spirit master should focus on self-cultivation; be more stable and composed. Don't you know to knock before entering?"

The old man looked at Master Su with mild anger.

"Yuntao? Master Su?"

Ye Hao's eyes widened in shock. Could it be the legendary Su Yuntao, who awakened the sea god's spirit?

"Master Matthew, don't be so nagging. This child needs to awaken his spirit; I'm borrowing your place for a moment," Master Su complained, casually taking out a crystal ball and six gray circular stones from his backpack, arranging them in a star shape.

"During my trip to Holy Spirit Village, I encountered a child with innate full soul power."

"Innate full soul power!" ×2

Master Matthew and Si Si both exclaimed in shock. There aren't many children with innate full-soul power. An innate full soul power spirit master awakens their spirit at the age of six, and those with exceptional talent achieve innate full soul power, meaning they are undoubtedly geniuses.

"Where is that child? It can't be this one, right?" Master Matthew asked eagerly.

Ye Hao was startled; why had he suddenly become the center of attention?

Master Su shot a glance at Master Matthew, irritated. "Unfortunately, that child has a Blue Silver Grass spirit. Spirits like Blue Silver Grass are common; even if they become spirit masters in the future, their starting point won't be very high.

"As for this child, he is called Ye Hao. His family was killed by wolf bandits, leaving him all alone. I happened to encounter him when I returned from outside, and since he needed to awaken his spirit, I brought him along."

Master Matthew's expression turned despondent. "Blue Silver Grass? Why must it be Blue Silver Grass? Innate full soul power? That's impossible…"

Si Si, beside him, also felt regret. They had finally come across a child with innate full soul power, yet the spirit turned out to be Blue Silver Grass, a sign of a useless spirit; the future achievements were bound to be limited.

"Eh? Blue Silver Grass? Innate full soul power…"

Ye Hao pondered, estimating it might be him—the first traveler of Douluo Continent, Tang San, who had both Blue Silver Emperor and Haotian Hammer as his spirits and was a twin spirit user, though the Blue Silver Emperor had not yet awakened...

"Alright, child, you stand here," Master Su said, wiping the sweat from his brow. Finally ready with the items for the spirit awakening ceremony.

Ye Hao understood and stepped into the central area where the six stones were placed. Though he already knew what his spirit was, experiencing the awakening in person was still exciting.

The spirit awakening ceremony was about to begin, and Master Matthew and Si Si focused their attention on Ye Hao, hoping to see something surprising.

Meanwhile, at the city gate of Notting City, a humble-looking carriage slowly entered the city.
