Chapter 39: Chapter 39: Five Years Later

Five years later. Balak Kingdom, Suotuo City

Xiao Tianyang strolled aimlessly along the bustling road, his hands on his head, a faint look of frustration clouding his face. Beside him, a small, curious companion named Bubu wagged its tail as it glanced around with wide eyes.

Compared to five years ago, Xiao Tianyang had undergone a striking transformation. Now standing at an impressive height of 1.8 meters, his youthful charm had given way to a mature, magnetic appearance.

His facial features, once overlooked, had sharpened into a masterpiece of symmetry, with sculpted cheekbones and proportions that seemed almost otherworldly.

A few stray strands of silver hair fell across his forehead, partially obscuring his deep gray eyes—eyes so captivating they seemed to pull anyone who met them into their depths.

He was dressed in a practical yet stylish outfit: a fitted tunic, riding boots, and a long, knee-length trench coat. Despite his handsomeness, there was no hint of softness in his demeanor; his casual and carefree aura left an indelible impression.

Xiao Tianyang muttered gloomily, "What's the big deal about not sleeping inside for once? Those two abandoned me at the last moment—completely unfaithful, I say!"

Bubu let out an indignant bark.

"It's not about you, so don't stare at me," Xiao Tianyang shot back, waving his hand dismissively.

Unbothered, Bubu wagged its tail and pranced happily ahead, its small frame as energetic as a young foal.

Suddenly, a loud boom echoed in the distance. Xiao Tianyang froze, listening carefully before confirming the unmistakable sound of a fight.

"Let's go check it out," he said, his curiosity piqued. Dropping his hands, he adjusted his coat and strode toward the commotion.

Not far behind, a girl in a flowing white dress peeked out from the shadows of an alley. Her long black hair cascaded over her shoulders, and her delicate figure, complemented by creamy, flawless skin, radiated elegance. Her gaze was fixed on Xiao Tianyang, her eyes shimmering with fascination.

"How can a man be this handsome..." she murmured.

The two guards accompanying her nearly tripped over their feet in shock. Was this their young lady? The proud, aloof figure who'd never given any man a second glance? And now, here she was, enchanted by a stranger's looks?

"Miss, should we investigate his identity?" one of the guards whispered cautiously.

"Get lost!" she snapped, glaring at them. "I don't need your meddling. If I catch you following me, I'll make sure your faces are too ugly to look at—hmph!"

With that, she turned sharply and stepped out onto the street, her skirts billowing behind her.

The guards exchanged glances, one of them muttering under his breath, "Now this is the lady I recognize."

In the hotel's grand lobby, Tang San stood tall, his blue vines whipping through the air like restless pythons. Each movement of his Blue Silver Grass Soul Skill created a sharp, hissing sound.

Opposite him stood a man of equal stature, with striking blond hair and piercing blue eyes. However, at the moment, he was completely immobilized, tightly bound by Tang San's vines.

"A Level 29 Control type Soul Master with Blue Silver Grass? That's already impressive," the man said with a faint smile. "But it's a pity. If your soul power were equal to mine, I'd surely lose today."

His eyes glinted dangerously as he activated his third soul skill.

"Third soul skill: White Tiger Vajra Transformation"

A purple soul ring glowed around him, and his body surged with power. Muscles swelled, his loose garments clinging to his frame, and dark tiger stripes etched themselves across his skin. With a single flex of his arms, the Blue Silver Grass binding him shattered into countless fragments, scattering like dust in the air.

"This is my thousand-year soul skill: White Tiger Vajra Transformation. For the next half-hour, my strength, speed, and endurance will double. Even your poison won't work on me!" The man—Dai Mubai—smirked devilishly.

"It's not too late to admit defeat."

From the sidelines, Xiao Wu snorted in disapproval. "What are you so smug about? If Tang San were on the same level as you, he'd wipe the floor with you!"

Tang San remained unfazed, his stance unyielding. "I can be defeated," he said evenly, "but I will never admit defeat."

Dai Mubai's smirk softened, a glimmer of respect flickering in his eyes. "Well said. Then let me help you."

At that moment, Xiao Wu's gaze shifted toward the door, and her body involuntarily shuddered. A pair of gray eyes filled with resentment met hers.

"Brother Tianyang..." Xiao Wu's voice faltered, her smile awkward as she instinctively took a step back.

Xiao Tianyang walked slowly toward her, a teasing smile playing on his lips. But Xiao Wu could sense the tension in his approach, and her caution was palpable.

"I see you're working hard," he began, his tone light but sharp, "but I just wanted you to sleep a little longer..."

Xiao Wu's eyes welled up with tears, and she turned quickly to Tang San. "Xiao San, stop fighting, someone's going to get hurt!" Her panic was genuine—her expression said it all.

No one could doubt her distress, especially when considering the past few years. After every dinner at Xiao Tianyang's house, Tang San and Xiao Wu had been forced into "training" sessions, only to be utterly dominated—pinned down and beaten without a chance to fight back. It was a relentless cycle.

Bubu, standing off to the side, seemed to whimper in silent despair. Nearly six years of being bullied? The poor creature must have been at its wit's end.

Some might wonder why they didn't fight back, but Xiao Wu's response was always simple: when faced with the choice between food and a beating, she had decisively chosen the former...

The commotion halted the fight, and Xiao Tianyang's entrance drew everyone's attention. His appearance was magnetic—he stood out in a way that caught everyone off guard, especially the twins lurking behind a stone pillar. Their eyes seemed to glisten as they stared at him, their legs trembling slightly in awe.

"So handsome.." Dai Mubai whispered to himself, clearly taken aback. This reaction was typical—most people were struck by Xiao Tianyang's handsomeness at first sight. And once they interacted with him, they found that despite his aloofness, there was an undeniable warmth that made him approachable. How could someone like him leave a bad first impression?

"Brother Tianyang, I told you to leave earlier. This has nothing to do with Xiao Wu," Tang San quickly clarified, trying to defuse the situation.

"Hmph, do you think I'm that easy to handle?" Xiao Tianyang tilted his head, casting a glance at Xiao Wu. "You. Come here."

"I don't want to!" Xiao Wu recoiled behind Tang San, visibly shaking.

"If you don't come here right now, you won't eat for three days!" Xiao Tianyang's voice was cold, yet there was a mischievous edge to it.

"Ah, no!" The threat struck a chord with Xiao Wu. She immediately lowered her head and, resigned, walked toward Xiao Tianyang.

Xiao Wu might be used to going without food for a day or two, but after three days without his meals, she knew she would be at her breaking point.

Xiao Tianyang's eyes narrowed. "Did you let Xiao San go first?"

"I didn't," Xiao Wu quickly denied, her voice shaking.

"Are you sure?"

"I'm sure!"

"If you're lying, no food for five days!" Xiao Tianyang's expression darkened. It was just as he had suspected. With a personality like Tang San's, there was no way he'd leave him behind. It had to have been Xiao Wu encouraging him. That meant Xiao Wu had played a part in his staying.

This frustration nearly caused him to miss out on his main quest and the chance to form bonds with the main characters!

"You..." Xiao Tianyang started but was immediately interrupted.

"Hey, are we still going to fight?" Dai Mubai interjected, his voice calm but filled with a challenge.

Xiao Tianyang turned, raising a hand and pointing at himself. "Are you talking about me?"

Dai Mubai shrugged. "You, him, it doesn't matter. You're all in the same group anyway."

Xiao Tianyang gave a small nod and then smirked. "Alright, then it's me."

Tang San and Xiao Wu exchanged a glance, silently agreeing to step back. It was safer to distance themselves; after all, they didn't want to end up caught in the crossfire.

Meanwhile, Bubu's face was practically glowing with excitement. If he weren't so worried about being hit, he'd be setting up a popcorn stand to sell to the onlookers.
