Chapter 63: Chapter 63: I won’t say a word to anyone
Early the next morning, after freshening up, Xiao Tianyang hopped on his bicycle and rode towards the canteen to prepare breakfast.
Yes, this was his assigned task from yesterday.
At first, he felt a bit baffled—after all, he was a student!
But recalling the dishes he had cooked, he could only accept the situation with a resigned sigh.
Besides, he really needed a place to cook, so he had no reason to protest.
"If it weren't for this mission, I wouldn't have agreed so easily. I'm a tough guy, but I haven't even pruned a single hair!"
On the way, Xiao Tianyang pulled up his system page in his mind:
Main Mission Triggered: [Great Spirit Arena]
Objective: Earn an Amethyst Badge in the Great Spirit Arena.
Restrictions: Do not use any abilities other than the martial soul first-soul skill.
Side Mission Triggered: [Food Mystery]
Objective: Help the Shrek Seven Devils grow through your cooking.
Reward: Depends on their growth rate.
Note: This is an irregular mission. You can end it anytime to receive rewards.
Side Mission Triggered: [Long-term Training]
Objective: Help the Shrek Seven Devils grow through your teachings.
Reward: Depends on their growth rate.
Note: This is an irregular mission. You can end it anytime to receive rewards.
The second mission was triggered when Flender approached him.
At that time, he thought nothing of it—this was the first long-term mission he had ever received.
Out of curiosity, he accepted it without hesitation.
As for the first and third missions, they appeared when he woke up in the morning. This was also the first time he had encountered a mission with great restrictions.
Thinking about it, though, it made sense. With his current strength, if he really went all out, not even Amethyst and Sapphire might be able to stop him.
"Sure enough, after coming to Shrek Academy, the missions have become more interesting. Now that I'm interacting with more people, they don't feel as dull anymore."
Rather than being troubled by the new tasks, a smirk played at the corners of Xiao Tianyang's lips. "This kind of life is interesting, isn't it?"
Suddenly, he spotted someone by the side of the road and instinctively pulled the brakes.
"Saber, what are you doing here?"
"Waiting for you."
Saber approached him and said, "You're responsible for feeding so many people by yourself. I can help."
"You're the most considerate."
Xiao Tianyang didn't refuse. After working with Saber before, he realized that while she couldn't contribute much in the kitchen, at least she didn't get in the way.
When he cooked, she was like a quiet presence, efficiently handling bowls and plates without causing trouble. That was the kind of assistant he liked best.
"Hop on, I'll take you with me." Xiao Tianyang patted the back seat of the bicycle.
Saber's face reddened slightly, but she didn't decline. Instead, she adjusted her skirt and sat sideways on the bike.
"Hold on tight, or you might get thrown off." He teased as he pushed off the ground.
Saber hesitated for a moment before lightly placing her hands on his waist. She didn't dare to hold on too tightly—after all, this was an academy, not some countryside road.
Meanwhile, Bubu had trotted up beside Xiao Tianyang, tongue lolling, looking quite pleased with itself.
"Judging by that smug look, I'd say you made quite a haul yesterday."
Xiao Tianyang shot the dog a knowing look, a half-smile playing on his lips.
Bubu's body stiffened before reluctantly nodding, looking utterly dejected.
It had hoped to avoid scrutiny, but it seemed its stash was about to be confiscated again!
This dog was unwilling!
But there was no way to refuse, so it could only suffer in silence…
Ten minutes later, Xiao Tianyang and Saber arrived at the cafeteria.
As soon as he parked his bicycle, Xiao Tianyang reached out to Bubu and rubbed his index finger and thumb together.
With no other choice, Bubu lifted a paw, patted its collar, and produced a fist-sized pouch of coins, dropping it into Xiao Tianyang's palm.
"That's more like it. Money should be circulating, not just hoarded."
Xiao Tianyang weighed the pouch in his hand, his smile widening. He even looked at Bubu with newfound kindness.
"Woof!"
"Yes, yes, I know. You didn't hide any extra."
"Woof!"
"Alright, the more you protest, the guiltier you look. Go play."
Xiao Tianyang waved him off, too lazy to deal with this crafty dog any longer.
Saber had been silently watching everything but didn't ask any questions.
As a person with principles, she never pried into others' secrets unless told directly—or unless the situation forced it.
That was simply her nature.
However, Xiao Tianyang suddenly grinned and asked, "Aren't you curious where Bubu's money came from?"
"Yesterday, I saw Dean Flender making a deal with Bubu in the woods. That's probably where the money came from."
Saber spoke with a faint smile, her expression unchanged.
"I didn't expect him to be the ringleader."
Xiao Tianyang chuckled. "Aren't you even a little curious to check it out?"
"No."
Saber added, "But considering the location, whatever business they were doing was probably shady."
"You guessed right."
Xiao Tianyang glanced around before whispering, "Just remember, don't let the dean or the teachers find out, or it'll be pretty embarrassing."
Saber turned to him, her green eyes filled with amusement. "I won't say a word to anyone."
For a moment, he was stunned by her expression. But he quickly recovered, smiling without saying more.
Inside the kitchen, Xiao Tianyang tied on his apron and headband, then rested his chin on his hand, deep in thought. "What should I make for breakfast today?"
Suddenly, he turned to Saber. "Anything in particular you'd like to eat?"
Saber was always mindful of food. If he didn't ask, she would accept whatever he made and enjoy it—both because she trusted his skills and because she liked the person making it.
But since he had asked, she was momentarily stumped.
It wasn't that she couldn't think of something—rather, too many images flashed through her mind at once.
Finally, she made up her mind. "Noodles!"
Xiao Tianyang lowered his head in thought. "If it's noodles, frying them in the morning might be too greasy. Dry noodles would need a larger portion, or people won't last until noon…"
Various possibilities surfaced in his mind, but one particular dish emerged from deep in his memory—
Scallion Noodles!
His eyes lit up, and a grin spread across his face. "That's it. Simple, delicious, and perfect for testing an unfinished idea from yesterday."
He turned back to Saber. "Do you like seafood?"
"I do."
"Then I'll add a creamy seafood soup to go with it!"
