Douluo: Martial Soul Thunder Dragon, A Century of Glory

Chapter 13: Chapter 13: The Two-Thousand-Year Thunder-Armored Earth Dragon

There are two sub-dragon-class soul beasts capable of granting the Thunder's Fury skill. One is the Purple Thunder Python, usually found in the Xingdou Great Forest or Thunder Gorge near the Blue Lightning Tyrant Hall. The other is a dual-element Earth-Dragon: the Thunder-Armored Earth Dragon, with both lightning and earth attributes, which lives in the Great Forest, Hall's Canyon, and Sunset Forest.

"Sunset Forest… Thunder-Armored Earth Dragon, lightning/earth sub-dragon!"

In his mind, Yun Yibai considered both options and locked on.

"Thunder-Armored Earth Dragon — a solitary sub-dragon, not a pack dweller."

Sub-dragon soul beasts mimic true dragons in strength and defense and are notoriously difficult to kill. But that didn't mean he couldn't.

Yun Yibai began plotting his approach.

"I need to prepare."

Soon, a solid plan had formed in his mind. With power rivaling Soul Elders and a clear strategy, he judged it worth a try. If it failed, he'd regroup and try again—dreams were noble, but reality must be accepted.

He consumed the remaining whale gel—one thousand-year dose and two hundred-year—and continued competing in the Grand Arena. At level 29, he maintained his winning streak. After all, he still had the soul power to advance among the Grand Soul Masters.

Inspired by Yun Yibai's success, Yu Tianheng secluded himself mid-week and broke through to level 30 within a few days. He spent another month hunting for new soul rings. The next time Yun Yibai saw him, Yu Tianheng was a Soul Elder.

Yun Yibai barely exchanged greetings as he remained focused on training. Two and a half months later, at age 12, his soul power reached level 30—a major milestone, greatly aided by the whale gel. Breakthroughs were always harder than usual.

During this period, he also traveled to Suotuo City—another large imperial center—and recruited a fully awakened innate soul talent for Blue Tyrant Academy. As it turned out, there was no talent beyond reach—only deals lacking incentive. He'd convinced a 7-year-old prodigy to join.

Sunset Forest & The Thunder-Armored Earth Dragon

Sunset Forest lies 100 li east of Tian Dou City. Though smaller than the Great Forest, it teems with ancient soul beasts, some millennia-old.

It took Yun Yibai nearly a full day to traverse the perimeter. Only when he spotted the first thousand-year Cloud-Calling Cat did he stop. He hollowed out a tree hollow, sealed the entrance, covered his scent, and spent the night moving cautiously.

He didn't meditate in full—this was predator territory, so every sense had to remain sharp.

Before dawn the next day, he awoke:

"Yesterday's Cloud-Calling Cat means I'm in ancient beast territory."

"Thunder-Armored Earth Dragons prefer dry land, without fixed dens. They roam seeking suitable lightning environments for training."

"Fortunately, Sunset Forest has plenty of them… and not just one or two."

It was tough terrain, but he had the data other soul masters didn't.

Roar!

A booming bell-like roar.

Beyond furious.

This Thunder-Armored Earth Dragon was nearly six meters long, its muscular limbs supporting a massive, heavily armored body. Storm-wreathed scales covered its form. Its head was crested with sharp horns and bony ridges—defensive and offensive tools. Its jaws were filled with jagged fangs powerful enough to shred prey.

After thirteen days, Yun Yibai found his second Thunder-Armored Earth-Dragon. The first—a three-meter specimen—was a young millennial beast he could've taken, but he held out for something stronger.

This second one was drawn by the sounds of a beastfight nearby. Sensitive to lightning, Yun Yibai tracked the elemental signature and discovered his target engaged in battle.

He waited until the beast won, exerting itself, then approached.

Now, he prepared the kill.

One massive steel needle—sharpened for such tough prey—pierced one of the dragon's eyes, leaving it blinded. The other eye glowed red with fury or blood.

Crackle!

Lightning surged in the dragon's mouth, then:

BOOM!

Yun Yibai dodged and noticed the scorched mark on the ground.

He felt lucky—it hadn't been at its peak strength.

He then pressed the assault, draining its stamina and soul power.

Not far away, a purple-robed woman and a dark-green-clad man were passing.

"Grandfather, something's happening over there!" the woman whispered.

The green-robed man glanced briefly.

"Don't bother."

"I'll take it if he ruined my mood." He was strong enough to sense a soul beast being fought nearby.

BOOM BOOM BOOM!

More distant explosions.

"He's courting death!!" the green-robed man snarled.
