Chapter 604: Chapter 604: Sea God’s Light Attacks? Devoured!

An evil soul master can also become a god?

This was the first thought that crossed the minds of the Seven Sacred Pillar Guardians.

Sea Dragon Douluo frowned, "Are you serious? Why would a god descend to pass on their legacy to an evil soul master?"

Su Ming smirked, "Who knows? Maybe that god isn't exactly a 'good' god. Don't assume all gods in the Divine Realm are virtuous." He glanced subtly at Bo Saixi, deciding not to reveal that Sea God and Asura God were in cahoots—it would only complicate things. Bo Saixi could handle that revelation herself later.

At that moment, Huo Wu, looking quite pleased, returned to the group.

"Su Ming, how's that? My Black-Level Six Trials aren't too bad, right?" she asked proudly.

Su Ming replied coolly, "Expected. The real tests are yet to come. Don't let your guard down."

"Never!" she huffed in determination.

Meanwhile, Seahorse Douluo was trying to mentally brace himself. Surely not all of them would receive Black-Level Trials… right?

"Next!" he called out.

Dugu Yan confidently approached and placed her hand on the Seahorse Sacred Pillar.

"Black-Level Six Trials!" was announced.

One by one, each stepped forward:

Ye Lingling: Black-Level Six Trials.Zhu Zhuqing: Black-Level Six Trials.

The Seven Sacred Pillar Guardians could hardly believe their eyes. These weren't ordinary humans—each of them was receiving high-tier Black-Level Trials!

"Bai Chenxiang, Black-Level Five Trials!" "Xue Wu, Black-Level Five Trials!" "Shui Yue'er, Black-Level Five Trials!"

Upon seeing three people receive Black-Level Five and Four Trials, the guardians began to feel a bit relieved; finally, results within a normal range. But just then, Shui Bing'er approached the Sacred Pillar.

As soon as her hand made contact, the Pillar's glow turned black and then gradually shifted toward a red hue, ultimately stabilizing at Red-Level Seven Trials!

"What? A Red-Level Trial?" Seahorse Douluo stammered in disbelief. "What is your spirit?"

Shui Bing'er answered calmly, "Ice Phoenix."

A top-tier beast spirit, and with such purity that it had even earned her the rare Red-Level assessment. The group, all aware of the mystical herbs they had consumed, felt unsurprised by her result.

Finally, Su Ming signaled for the last two to step forward. "Rongrong, Xiao Wu, you two go together."

Ning Rongrong and Xiao Wu exchanged smiles and placed their hands on the Pillar.

All eyes watched with growing anxiety—surely these two couldn't also receive a Red-Level Trial?

To everyone's shock, the Pillar displayed:

Ning Rongrong: Red-Level Seven Trials.Xiao Wu: Red-Level Eight Trials.

By now, the guardians were numb, casting resigned glances at Su Ming, wondering if he, too, would show evidence of divine power.

Before he could move forward, a soft, emerald light enveloped Su Ming, emitted from the Sacred Pillar, revealing the inscription:

Life's Nine Trials!

A beam of green light imprinted the symbol of the Tree of Life on Su Ming's forehead.

The Seven Sacred Pillar Guardians simply stared—this young man had indeed received a divine inheritance. Adding to their astonishment, the lowest-ranked trials among his group were the Black-Level Four Trials received by the two Titled Douluo elders, Chrysanthemum and Ghost Douluo, a rank they thought impossible for their age.

Bo Saixi's serene voice broke the silence, "Check your first trial requirements. It should be the 'Sea God's Light' trial."

With a wave of her hand, she transported them all to the foot of Sea God Mountain.

"Your objective is to reach a specified number of steps within the time limit," Bo Saixi explained.

Curious, Seahorse Douluo asked, "How many steps do each of you need to ascend?"

Typically, Black-Level Trials required only around a hundred steps.

The answers shocked him:

Chrysanthemum Douluo and Ghost Douluo: three hundred steps.Shui Yue'er and Xue Wu: four hundred steps.Huo Wu and other Black-Level Six Trial recipients: five hundred steps.Red-Level Seven and Eight Trial recipients Ning Rongrong and Xiao Wu: six hundred and seven hundred steps, respectively.

Su Ming himself needed to climb all one thousand and one steps within six months.

The Seven Sacred Pillars and Bo Saixi were left in stunned silence, as they absorbed the scale of Su Ming's trial. Even Su Ming couldn't help but frown—clearly, Sea God had meddled with the difficulty settings.

Observing their expressions, Xiao Wu asked, "Is there something wrong?"

Seahorse Douluo solemnly replied, "There is indeed. Bo Saixi's first Red-Level Trial was also the Sea God's Light test, but she only needed to climb about three hundred steps. Now that's the requirement for a Black-Level Four Trial, and Su Ming's… is a thousand and one."

With a hint of pity, Sea Illusion Douluo remarked, "Su Ming, did this deity have a grudge against you?"

Su Ming only smiled faintly, "Who says I can't complete it? This trial's pressure serves to refine our spirit power—it's excellent training. If it's one thousand and one steps, I'll make it."

Bo Saixi intervened, "Be cautious. This trial is not to be taken lightly. It's not impossible for those with enough strength to achieve three hundred steps, but as for the rest of you…"

Before she could finish, a divine force from Sea God's realm stifled her words, making it clear that she was not permitted to assist.

Seeing Bo Saixi hesitate, Su Ming's companions grew concerned. "Why don't you go first, Brother Su Ming? It seems… more challenging than expected," Xiao Wu suggested.

Su Ming reassured them, "All right, I'll go first. Watch closely. Given the nature of this trial, it seems likely that we can't use attack-based spirit skills. Supportive skills, however, might still be effective."

With that, Su Ming ascended to the first step.

Divine Realm

The God of Destruction glared at Sea God, demanding an explanation. "Sea God! Care to explain? It's been pointed out that typical Red-Level Eight Trials require around three hundred steps, yet now it's considered a Black-Level Four Trial!"

Sea God maintained a forced smile, "This is my trial ground, and I can adjust the difficulty as I see fit, as long as the core tasks remain unchanged. As such, this is my private domain, and your interference is unwarranted."

The Life Goddess calmly replied, "So, my inheritor must climb a thousand and one steps, on what is supposedly a basic pressure test? With a six-month limit?"

"Why, Life Goddess, if you wish to alter your trial's content, you're free to do so," Sea God taunted.

She smiled. "That won't be necessary. I have complete faith in my heir, and I look forward to seeing your reaction if he passes."

Sea God shrugged. He didn't believe Su Ming could conquer a thousand steps—doing so would require power nearing demigod status, and the test emphasized endurance, an area in which he assumed Su Ming was lacking.

Back on Sea God Island

Seahorse Douluo stepped forward, "Who will go first?"

Su Ming responded, "I'll go." He looked up the stairway, determined.

Taking his first step, he felt no resistance. Given his physical strength, he could withstand the pressure of a three-hundred-thousand-year spirit ring without difficulty. Without pause, he quickened his pace, easily passing one hundred, two hundred, then three hundred steps.

Upon reaching three hundred fifty steps, he finally felt a slight pressure but continued onward without activating any power-boosting abilities.

Suddenly, Su Ming stopped and tested something—he summoned a massive wood dragon. Almost instantly, the Sea God's Light crushed it, but the wood dragon regenerated in seconds, its tenacity and regeneration proving unstoppable.

The Sea God's Light, seemingly irritated, redirected its force to attack Su Ming directly.

But behind Su Ming, the Yi Wood Azure Dragon spirit responded instinctively, roaring defiantly as though it had a will of its own.

"Sea God," Su Ming called mockingly, "is this the best you can do? My dragon's regeneration alone is enough to counter this force. Let's see how you handle this: Life Domain, Destruction Domain, activate!"

With both domains unleashed, the Seven Sacred Pillar Guardians could barely believe their eyes. Su Ming was no ordinary prodigy; he was a force beyond their comprehension.

Within his Life Domain, the Sea God's Light was slowly devoured, while his Destruction Domain eroded its essence. Summoning his Susano'o armor, he contained the Sea God's Light, preventing its escape.

Five minutes later, the light completely dissipated, leaving the remaining Sea God's Light fading away. It seemed to recognize it couldn't overcome Su Ming and vanished.

The Sea God's Light itself seemed to acknowledge defeat: this man was no ordinary challenger.
