Chapter 32: Sword Douluo Versus the Clear Sky Brothers
The Clear Sky Nine Absolutes included the "Empty," "Seal," "Pierce," "Penetrate," "Bind," "Quake," "Break," "Brake," and "Collapse" techniques. As Tang Xiao displayed them all, Sword Douluo responded in kind with the Seven Kill Sword Art. Their hammer and sword collided in a flurry of sparks.
Every watching soul master unconsciously held their breath. They had rarely, if ever, seen so many self-created techniques. For most soul masters, inventing even one was a remarkable feat. But the Clear Sky Clan and Sword Douluo hurled them about as though they were nothing, each one different. Such deep foundations were unmatched by anyone else.
"Fifth Soul Skill—Terrifying Shock of the Four Directions!"
"Heavenly Strike!"
Boom!
"Sixth Soul Skill—Ten Thousand Swords Return!"
Sword Douluo leaped into the air; his sixth soul ring glowed, and a hundred-meter Seven Kill Sword formed from soul power, raining down on Tang Xiao like a torrential storm.
"Clear Sky Protection!"
The black light around Tang Xiao's Clear Sky Hammer surged, spinning before him to act as a shield, blocking the ceaseless downpour of a hundred or more swords per second. Rebounding blades embedded themselves in the platform. For some reason, they did not disappear.
Sword Douluo's eighth soul ring abruptly lit up as he lifted a finger. His Seven Kill Sword Wuhun soared upward, and all the sword blades stuck in the stage similarly rose.
"It's over, Tang Xiao!"
"Eighth Soul Skill—Seven Kills Shake Thunder to Shatter the Heavens!"
A multitude of Seven Kill Swords merged into one, swiftly expanding into a giant sword tens of meters long. All its sword aura gathered upon the blade's edge—none leaking out. Yet for every soul master below Soul Sage rank who looked at that sapphire-like Seven Kill Sword, their eyes burned with pain. Those lower than that level even bled from the eyes.
Over on the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan's side, Bone Douluo spread out his spiritual power to form a protective shield against possible harm to Bibi Dong's eyesight.
As that towering sword descended, even space itself seemed about to be split in two.
"Seventh Soul Skill—Tool Martial Avatar!"
Tang Xiao's Clear Sky Hammer also grew massive. The hammerhead, the size of a small hill, was almost on par with the size of that Seven Kill Sword. But because Tang Xiao had activated his Tool Martial Avatar a moment too late, he lacked time to charge up for a full hammer strike. When hammer met sword, the metallic clash ended in a stalemate.
"I've lost," Tang Xiao declared. The seventh ring beneath him dimmed, and the Clear Sky Hammer shrank. He wasn't conceding because the hammer failed to overwhelm the Seven Kill Sword. Rather, it was because numerous sword blades conjured by Ten Thousand Swords Return still hovered around him. Sword Douluo had not merged them all into the eighth soul skill; several remained as a hidden trump card. Tang Xiao's guard was down by one move, and so he'd lost.
"Sword Douluo, let me be your next opponent!"
The moment Tang Xiao conceded, Tang Hao leaped forward.
Sword Douluo's brow furrowed in displeasure—one challenger after another, with no end? Tang Xiao was a Soul Douluo, which was borderline acceptable, but Tang Hao was just a Soul Emperor.
Ning Fengzhi likewise frowned. "Tang Zhen, your son Tang Xiao has already fought Sword Uncle, who was victorious. Doesn't sending another challenger break the rules?"
Tang Zhen said, "On the contrary, Sect Master Ning, we of the Clear Sky Clan declare Tang Hao has inherited the Old Clan Master's full teachings. He is the next Clear Sky Douluo of our clan."
The next Clear Sky Douluo for the Clear Sky Clan!
As soon as those words were spoken, many older soul masters in the audience displayed looks of reverence. The previous Clear Sky Douluo was Tang Chen, one of the twin pinnacles of the soul master world.
It was well known that any soul master who reached Titled Douluo had to step into the Douluo Hall to receive their title. But the "Clear Sky Douluo" was an exception. The Wuhun Hall had publicly stated that the name Clear Sky Douluo belonged solely to the Clear Sky Clan, that the Douluo Hall had no authority to grant or deny it.
Clear Sky Douluo was, in effect, the mightiest Titled Douluo using the Clear Sky Hammer in that generation of the clan!
Hearing this, Sword Douluo's gaze turned serious. If Tang Hao were only another ordinary Clear Sky disciple, he would refuse such an impertinent challenge. But if Tang Hao was truly the clan's future Clear Sky Douluo, that indeed qualified him to fight.
As soon as Tang Hao achieved Titled Douluo, he would likely challenge him again for the strongest assault-type martial soul. Sword Douluo, brimming with pride, would rather settle the matter now than risk losing in the future.
"Very well, Tang Hao. Since you're the future Clear Sky Douluo, I accept your challenge."
Tang Hao bowed respectfully. "Thank you, Senior Chen Xin. Senior, do you need any rest?"
Sword Douluo laughed quietly. "Once you reach Titled Douluo, you'll understand just how vast a pool of soul power we command. We don't need to rest. Go on."
A crimson aura of murderous energy erupted from Tang Hao's body, forming a small domain around him. Two yellow, two purple, and two black—six rings in total—appeared. The Clear Sky Hammer in his hand bore a faint bloody hue, tinted by that murderous aura.
"That's the Killing God Domain," Sword Douluo muttered, growing more solemn.
"The Killing God Domain," Ning Fengzhi echoed in hushed tones. "I've heard Uncle mention it. The old Clear Sky Douluo possessed it, but I had no idea Tang Hao did as well. Does this mean he braved the Slaughter City? No wonder no one heard from him these past years."
Perplexed, Bibi Dong asked, "Fengzhi-gege, what is the Slaughter City? I've never heard of it."
Ning Fengzhi cast Bibi Dong a chiding glance. "I've told you before: read more, play less. The Slaughter City is documented within our clan's records—a living hell on earth. Yet if one survives it, they receive tremendous rewards: precisely what you see in Tang Hao's Killing God Domain."
Bibi Dong pursed her rosy lips. At her age, was it not natural to prefer playing to reading—especially when she was also diligently training her soul power?
Seeing her pouting expression, Ning Fengzhi quickly shifted his gaze back to the ring. That adorable face and beckoning lips were testing even his self-restraint. Dong'er, you really have no idea how alluring you are, do you?
Up in the arena, a bone-white sword aura erupted from Chen Xin, matching Tang Hao's Killing God Domain. This was the sword domain he'd derived through relentless cultivation of the Seven Kill Sword—namely, the Seven Kill Domain.
