Chapter 35: Qian Xunji vs. Lightfeather Douluo
The veins on Qian Daoliu's forehead bulged—this son of his seemed dead set on infuriating him. "What do you mean, 'It's fine that you couldn't beat Tang Chen'?" As the inheritor of the divine-level spirit, Six-Winged Angel, losing to the top-tier spirit Clear Sky Hammer was nothing short of a disgrace. It utterly tarnished the reputation of the Six-Winged Angel!
Qian Xunji, however, was completely unfazed. He even dared to pull out the line, "I can't lose to someone from a younger generation like Tang Hao, right?" With this kind of reasoning, there was no need to worry about Qian Daoliu objecting. As the representative of the Angel God on earth, the successor of the Six-Winged Angel couldn't allow the Angel God's dignity to be trampled. Qian Xunji had long since grasped the weak spot in Qian Daoliu's heart. Controlling the old man? No problem at all.
"Guangling! Teach this brat a proper lesson—no holding back!"
Qian Daoliu transmitted the order telepathically to a cultivation chamber in the Worship Hall. Lightfeather Douluo awakened from his cultivation, came into the hall rubbing his head, and looked around in confusion.
"What's going on, Grand Worship? Your Holiness, what did you do to anger Grand Worship again?"
Qian Xunji cupped his hands. "Fifth Uncle, I've been feeling a bit itchy to spar lately, so I came to the Worship Hall."
"Not bad, Your Holiness. I see you've advanced another level in these two years. But you and I are two ranks apart—I'm a rank 96 Super Douluo. Are you sure you want to spar with me?"
Lightfeather Douluo raised an eyebrow. The gap between rank 94 and 96 was massive. Sword Douluo, who had zero soul bones, wasn't even qualified to comment on that kind of difference. A rank 96 Title Douluo could easily overpower two equally-equipped rank 95 Title Douluo.
"I'm sure."
Qian Xunji naturally knew what Lightfeather Douluo was thinking, but with his top-tier spirit quality and soul ring configuration—not to mention his domain—he figured only fighting someone two ranks above him would truly test his limits.
"Very well then."
Lightfeather Douluo clasped his hands behind his back and led Qian Xunji through a side door of the Worship Hall to the rear mountains, to a wide, open dueling area with a two-hundred-meter radius. The entire area was built of granite, and traces of past battles could be seen everywhere. This was clearly a place where the worshippers often sparred.
However, most Title Douluo duels took place mid-air; otherwise, even a granite field like this would be inadequate for Super Douluo-level destruction.
On the battlefield, Qian Xunji and Lightfeather Douluo summoned their spirits—Six-Winged Angel and Lightfeather Divine Bow.
Lightfeather Douluo raised his bow and aimed it at Qian Xunji. He pulled the string, then casually let it drop. "Your Holiness, as your elder, I'll let you take the first move."
"Alright then."
Just as Qian Xunji was about to move, a sudden sense of danger hit him. He jerked his head aside, and a fresh cut appeared on his cheek.
"Silent arrow?! Fifth Uncle, you—"
"This is called all's fair in war, Your Holiness. You clearly saw me draw my bowstring—did you really think I wouldn't fire?"
Lightfeather Douluo chuckled, his left hand already raised. At his fingertip spun a thumb-sized ice crystal arrow.
"Your Holiness, be serious. I won't hold back."
Qian Daoliu had already instructed Lightfeather Douluo via telepathy not to go easy. Otherwise, he himself would step in and spar with him. Clearly, Qian Daoliu had been unsettled by Qian Xunji's reasoning. If Qian Xunji really did lose to the younger Tang Hao, the face of the Six-Winged Angel would be utterly lost.
"Very well."
Holy angelic power surged to Qian Xunji's face, healing his wound. His fifth soul ring lit up beneath him. Flames converged to form a sacred sword in his hand—Divine Sword.
"Fifth Uncle, better be careful."
With a twist of his wrist, Qian Xunji slashed the sacred sword, leaving golden slashes hanging mid-air that radiated intense heat.
"That's... the Seven Kill Sword technique? No, it's just pure fire. This brat has some ideas."
Back in the Worship Hall, Qian Daoliu's spiritual sense extended outward, observing the battle. With the vision of an Ultimate Douluo, he instantly understood Qian Xunji's strategy.
Qian Xunji was a transmigrator; while his sword techniques were decent, he didn't have the enlightenment of someone like Sword Douluo. He lacked the focus and time. So, he changed his approach—using flames as a substitute.
"Fifth Uncle, take this!"
Qian Xunji manipulated divine flame into the shape of the character "Heaven", then slashed forward, launching multiple golden sword beams. Though not extremely powerful, they were fast and carried intense heat as they flew toward Lightfeather Douluo.
"Good move! First Soul Skill—Ice Burst!"
Lightfeather Douluo's first soul ring lit up beneath his feet. A blue-ice arrow shot forward and exploded upon colliding with the flame sword beams, scattering ice shards. Anything touched by the shards instantly froze.
This first skill was a control-type ability aimed at freezing and disrupting the opponent. The flaming sword beams were soon encased in ice. The layer of ice acted as a buffer, dulling the force if it hit the opponent.
Lightfeather Douluo easily deflected the weakened attacks with a soul power shield. His fingers tugged repeatedly at his bowstring, and in the blink of an eye, multiple arrows flew toward Qian Xunji.
Guided by Lightfeather Douluo's spiritual power, the arrows bent slightly mid-flight—but even Title Douluo-level spiritual power had its limits. Still, their target was clear.
Qian Xunji beat his wings and dodged them.
"High-Powered Piercing Shot!"
A soul ring flared beneath Lightfeather Douluo's feet. He drew his bowstring and fired a high-speed, unavoidable arrow. Qian Xunji slashed at it with his sacred sword, but the collision sent a shockwave down his arm. His blade quivered slightly, a nick appearing on its edge.
"Fifth Soul Skill—Endless Void!"
Lightfeather Douluo's fifth soul ring lit up. His left eye, covered in an icy sheen, opened wide, and dozens of ice-blue arrows shot from the Lightfeather Divine Bow. Like sentient beings, they flew in from every direction.
"Angel Domain!"
Qian Xunji immediately activated his domain. A golden aura enveloped the incoming arrows. The divine power within the Angel Domain drastically slowed the arrows before purifying them one by one.
After neutralizing Endless Void, Qian Xunji narrowed his eyes. Could it be that without using a domain, even with a hundred-thousand-year ring, the Angel Domain still couldn't contend with a level 96 Title Douluo?
No. Domain could only be countered by domain. Other top-tier domains, like the Killing God Domain, could stand toe to toe with the Angel Domain. So, it wasn't an issue of the domain itself.
The Six-Winged Angel spirit had no weaknesses—if used properly, it could defeat any other spirit. The Lightfeather Divine Bow's power was on par with the Six-Winged Angel's, and it was ranged to boot.
Lightfeather Douluo was two levels higher than him. If Qian Xunji wanted to beat him without using his domain, he had to find a weakness in the Lightfeather Divine Bow. That weakness? The lack of close-range protection and Lightfeather Douluo's own fragile defense!
"Your Holiness, why'd you drop your Angel Domain?"
Lightfeather Douluo was puzzled after seeing Qian Xunji dispel the domain following his purification of Endless Void.
Qian Xunji smiled faintly. "Because I don't need a domain to defeat Fifth Uncle. Are you ready?"
