Chapter 55: DISCUSSION
The members of the Wish Granting Shop gathered in the meeting room, seated around an array of circular tables. The warm glow of the room's lanterns cast a golden hue over the gathering, the soft hum of quiet conversations filling the air.
Shisui Uchiha stood, his expression a mixture of solemnity and gratitude. Bowing deeply, he said, "Thank you all for saving my Uchiha clan. Without your intervention, I fear we would have been lost to history."
Xuanyu, seated at the head of the gathering, offered a serene smile. "No thanks are needed, Shisui. The shop exists to grant wishes, but it was the collective efforts of everyone here that reshaped the fate of your clan. Yours was the determination that tipped the scales."
The room lightened with scattered murmurs and soft laughter, members exchanging remarks about their own experiences with the shop. The camaraderie was palpable, but Tsunade, ever direct and analytical, steered the conversation to a more pressing topic.
"Xuanyu," she began, her amber eyes sharp with curiosity, "you mentioned that only ten people in the entire world can become official members of the Wish Granting Shop. Of those ten, five are granted a free wish, while the other five must use shop points to pay for theirs. Could you elaborate on how these members are chosen? And under which category do Terumi Mei and Shizune fall?"
Xuanyu rested his chin on his hand, his thoughtful demeanor laced with an air of wisdom. "Of course. The five members who are granted free wishes are chosen directly by the Fate Cards themselves. Their selection is based entirely on the will of the cards, and no one—not even I—can influence this process. It is their destiny to be chosen."
He paused briefly, letting the weight of his words settle, before continuing. "As for the remaining five members, there are two pathways. The first is through recommendation: those with free-wish Fate Cards have the privilege of purchasing additional Fate Cards for others. The second is through my direct intervention. I have the authority to grant a Fate Card to individuals I deem worthy. Both Shizune and Terumi Mei fall under this second category. I personally selected them and bestowed upon them their Fate Cards. However, since their cards do not carry the blessing of a free wish, they must earn and use shop points to fulfill their desires."
Tsunade leaned back slightly, processing the information. "I see. So far, we know of four members: two with free wishes and two who must rely on shop points. Out of curiosity, how much does a single Fate Card cost?"
Xuanyu's lips curved into a faint smile. "A single Fate Card costs one thousand shop points. However, even if all ten official member spots are filled, there's still a chance for others to join. But the cost rises steeply—it would take one hundred thousand shop points to buy a card for someone once the limit is reached."
The group exchanged astonished glances, their murmurs growing louder. Tsunade raised an eyebrow, clearly impressed. "That's no small investment."
"Indeed," Xuanyu said calmly. "But the value of membership in the Wish Granting Shop is beyond measure. Even without a free wish, the opportunities are boundless for those willing to earn their place."
The room fell into contemplative silence, each member lost in their thoughts. After a moment, Irene broke the quiet. "Xuanyu, what criteria do the Fate Cards use to choose their holders?"
Xuanyu's expression brightened, as though he'd been waiting for this question. "Let me explain with an example—through stories."
The room leaned in, captivated.
"Much like in stories, worlds have their main characters, villains, and side characters. These are the individuals around whom events revolve, shaping the era they inhabit. Every century, there is a protagonist, destined to create ripples that affect the entire world.
Take Irene, for example. She was a protagonist in her era, destined to create Dragon Slayer Magic—a legacy that would shape generations.
Or consider All Might. He was the symbol of peace, the world's number one hero during his time. A beacon of hope for an entire era.
These are examples of past protagonists, whose roles have been fulfilled. Now, let me speak of this era. Naruto Uzumaki is the current protagonist, with Sasuke Uchiha as his fated side character."
The room buzzed with excitement. Tsunade and Shisui exchanged glances, both surprised and delighted. Four out of five free-wish members were linked to Konoha—a point of pride for their village.
Tsunade couldn't contain her enthusiasm. "Then let's summon them both here!"
But Xuanyu raised a hand, gently shaking his head. "There's no need. Even if you brought them here, they cannot immediately become members of the shop."
Rias frowned, her crimson eyes narrowing. "But you just said—"
Xuanyu smiled, cutting her off gently. "I said they will surely be chosen by the Fate Cards, and that much I am certain of. However, the timing is not up to us. The Fate Cards have their own rules—deciding who to choose, how to choose them, and most importantly, when to choose them. No one can interfere with this process."
"So," he continued, his gaze sweeping across the room, "even though we know that both Naruto and Sasuke are destined to be chosen, we must wait. Patience is key."
The room fell silent once more. Then, after a while, Xuanyu turned toward Shisui and Tsunade and asked, "Both of you have your free wish pending. When do you plan to use it?"
Shisui shook his head. "I won't use it right now. Perhaps in the future, when there's a greater need."
Xuanyu nodded, then turned to Tsunade, who had a thoughtful look in her eyes.
After a moment, she spoke. "You said a wish can resurrect someone, as long as their death doesn't exceed ten years, correct?"
Xuanyu nodded.
Tsunade took a deep breath, her voice steady but tinged with emotion. "I want you to resurrect every ninja of Konoha who died in the past ten years."
Xuanyu's eyebrows rose slightly. After a moment of consideration, he shook his head. "I'm sorry, but that number is too high. With the power of a single wish, I can only resurrect those who died within the past seven years."
Tsunade frowned, her hands clenched in thought. After a long silence, she spoke again. "Then can you resurrect everyone who died during the night of the Nine-Tails' attack?"
Xuanyu's expression softened. "Yes, that is within the power of your wish."
He leaned forward slightly. "Are you certain this is how you want to use your free wish? To bring back those lost on the night of the Nine-Tails' chaos?"
