Dragon Ball: A Better Bulma

Chapter 28: 28: Arale and King Kai.

Kami-Sama was transported to the first place souls go when they die in this universe, the afterlife. Before him was a vast sea of golden clouds, which was quite auspicious, but he knew what others did not.

Beneath those clouds was the space known as Hell. This was not the place where demons lived, but where sinners were punished, and then their souls were processed to extract evil from them, as well as all their memories before they were reincarnated.

Of course, not all places in Hell were places of punishment, there were many places with different purposes. And from what Kami-Sama had heard, the hell on earth was particularly cruel compared to the other places.

Above the Ocean of Clouds was the huge palace of the Great King Enma, the divine being who was in charge of determining where the recently deceased went. And since death was a common theme in the universe, a long line appeared before Kami-Sama, filled with souls ready to be judged.

Because of his divine status, Kami-Sama was accompanied by a blue-skinned figure with small horns wearing an office suit, an Ogre or an Oni. After waiting for a young red-skinned Oni wearing headphones to mop the floor in front of them, they soon arrived at the figure he had to visit first.

Great King Enma, the figure in charge. A huge being sitting at a rather expensive mahogany desk. The sheer power emanating from the man did not overwhelm Kami-Sama or the blue-skinned Oni, but the poor soul who was being tested.

"Let's see, just an ordinary housewife who died of exhaustion trying to give her children a good life? Fine, go to paradise to rest before reincarnating," Enma's voice was booming at this moment, but there was a hint of warmth in his tone.

A stamp marked a sheet of paper and the woman's soul was escorted to a door before the next soul appeared in front of Enma, who looked visibly uncomfortable as he read something.

"Wow. A murderer with no justification other than his pleasure? Yeah... a good thing you're an Earthling, you know? The administrators of this place will be happy to have you," Enma sealed a piece of paper, and two large, red-skinned Onis took the soul that didn't know the suffering that awaited it.

"Oh, you are the God of Earth, aren't you? Come, let's talk quickly," Enma had noticed the two visitors for a long time, but it was only now that he found an opportunity to talk to them.

"Thank you, Your Majesty Great King Enma," Kami-Sama said with reverence in his voice.

In the hierarchy, he was just a planetary god, maybe a bit special, but nothing remarkable in the other world. So he stuck to respect, but Enma just laughed at his gesture.

"Don't be so polite, tell me, why did you request an audience with me? You rarely come this way," Enma said with curiosity in his voice as the blue-skinned Oni took his leave and left them alone.

"I would like to know more about this universe, some things have been revealed to me and the information I have about the general situation is very fragmented. I know little about the hierarchy of the gods or the four galaxies, I would like to correct that," Kami-Sama said with respect and humility in his tone.

Even though he was knowledgeable and had even spied on Bulma a little while she was exploring the forums of the Galactic Patrol, there were things he needed to know first-hand, and only King Kai could help him.

"I see... Would you like to see my master? He's the only one around here who keeps up with such things because this waste of Kaio-Shin doesn't even bother to acquire more knowledge because he thinks he's on top of everything," Enma complained under his breath, annoyed about a certain superior 'god' who thought he was on top of the entire divine hierarchy due to his ignorance.

Kami-Sama was silent at this comment, he barely knew the concept of Kaio-Shin and did not want to get into trouble with gods who sounded superior to him, so there was an uncomfortable silence before Kami-Sama decided to speak.

"May I meet King Kai?" Kami-Sama asked, bringing Enma back to reality, who was looking at the Namekian elder curiously and with some wariness.

"I doubt you can make it all the way to his realm without wasting a lot of time on the way, I'll send you myself," Enma put his big hand in the air above Kami-Sama, shrouding him in shadow.

"You already know how to return to the mortal world, so I don't have to tell you much, may you find your answers," Enma said before him body emitted a powerful aura.

"With my power, I open the door that connects to other worlds," that was pretty much what Kami-Sama understood when Enma spoke in the language of the gods.

Magic, pure divine magic, was set in motion at that moment. Above Kami-Sama, a large door appeared that looked like huge jaws. A pair of angry eyes stared at the god before the 'mouth' of the door opened and sucked the green elder inside.

"Okay, now let's see the next one on the list... A crypto bro who swindled millions from his followers with a meme coin? And with bee motifs, to say the least, well, I'll enjoy this," Enma muttered, before ushering in a soul who continued to talk nonsense, ranting that his project to become immortal was still in progress and that he would resurrect soon.

Well, he won't.

...

Kami-Sama was thrown out of a door that opened in front of a strange house. When he tried to get up, a terrible jolt made it impossible for the god to even get to his knees properly.

"What is this, gravity? 10 times Earth's..." Kami-Sama muttered before reciting a spell in a language that he could confirm was his original tongue a few years ago.

The language of his planet, Namek.

Learning that it was alien shocked it a bit, but it had suspected it before and was able to recover quickly, although it realized Jaco's fear of Earth in greater detail.

Earth had undoubtedly assimilated it, and in a very direct way, it was now technically its protector.

'The things you find out when you get old,' Kami-Sama thought before getting up.

A magical shield with strange characters covered him, it was his way of lessening the effect of the increased gravity on him, allowing him to live in such a precarious place for several hours.

He didn't know why this spell was in his memories, but considering that the Namekians could travel to other worlds with their great technology, it was normal for them to have this kind of spell to deal with planets with high or low gravity, depending on the situation.

"They just disappeared, maybe King Kai has an answer to this question, did almost all Namekians disappear?" muttered Kami-Sama before he approached the door of the strange house and knocked on it.

His long ears allowed him to hear the sound coming from inside, it sounded like someone watching .... TV?

"Just a moment!" a voice came from inside, the TV was turned off and soon, the door opened.

Kami-Sama had to look down to see King Kai, a strange blue-skinned being with black glasses over his eyes and clothes that represented his divine status. King Kai looked up and noted Kami-Sama's appearance with interest.

"A Namekian? I thought most of them lived isolated and quiet. How did one become a god?" said King Kai, noting the apparent divine aura of the being before him.

"I am not from Namek, but I would like to know more about that. I am the God of Earth, I have no name, you may call me Shen," Kami-Sama indicated before bowing slightly to King Kai.

"Don't be polite, come in, come in," King Kai pointed out before he made room for Kami-Sama to enter.

"By the way, what a nice use of Dragon Magic you've made there, I never expected to see that spell again," King Kai said, noticing the markings on the almost invisible shield that protected Kami-Sama from the influence of gravity.

"Dragon magic?" asked Kami-Sama curiously, causing King Kai to stop and look at him, this time very seriously.

Kami-Sama felt that 'something' was examining him thoroughly, but since he knew who it was, he just let it go. King Kai then approached Kami-Sama and slapped his hand reproachfully.

"What a fool! How could you divide yourself like that, you spoiled your great talent! Oh no, I must correct this. You, Shen, will learn from me! You said you were from Earth?

That terrible place, if you can survive there without going mad with only half of your being, then your talent in its full state must be more than extraordinary. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I found gold!" King Kai began to laugh madly, preventing Kami-Sama from declaring his true intentions.

But this moment was one of those changes that Bulma's actions had brought about.

...

Bulma, for her part, had decided to reach Penguin Island before nightfall, so she took her airship instead of her car. By the time they landed, it was already dark, but luckily there was no full moon.

Although Goku could more or less use the power of his Ozaru form for a few moments, the control of his transformation still needed to be fine-tuned. He wouldn't lose control right away, but he couldn't maintain it for long.

"Bulma, what are we doing on this island?" asked Chi-Chi curiously, attracting the attention of Goku and Oolong.

"I want to visit one of the great minds of this world. His publications are rare, but very valuable in the scientific world, and few know where he lives. I got his address from Dr. Omori," Bulma replied, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

How could she not be excited? She was going to meet Dr. Sembei Norimaki! A man who had directly skipped many steps and created a Gynoid with sentience, who had also endowed it with absurd abilities, but that wasn't what Bulma was interested in.

It was Dr. Norimaki's uncanny ability to create machines that bordered on the unscientific. And as if the world itself wanted her to interact with that figure, Bulma could see someone holding a flashlight in the distance.

The figure approached, it was a 13-year-old girl with glasses, a cap covering her purple hair and a big smile on her face. One of her hands was holding a flashlight, but the other was holding a branch with .... excrement, mind you, this thing was pink and had a shy smile.

"I saw you land! I'm Arale!" the girl introduced herself with a big smile.

Goku, who was in front of her, stepped forward on a strange impulse. Both Arale and Goku stared at each other until the boy's tail caught the Ginoid's attention, her eyes sparkling.

"Wow, you have a tail! Just like the character in the book 'Journey to the Northern Galaxy' Can I hold it?" asked Arale excitedly, but Goku shook his head before wrapping his tail around his body like a belt.

"No, that makes me uncomfortable," Goku said, shaking his head.

Chi-Chi then stepped in front of the young Saiyan and covered his body with her own, while she looked jealously at Arale, who didn't understand much of what was going on in front of her.

"Don't go around asking to grab other people's parts, it's rude," Chi-Chi said, making Arale nod so fast and loud that even the sound of a marble in a spray can could be heard.

"I know, I apologize!" Arale wanted to wave, but seeing that she had her hands full, she thought for a moment before throwing the stick aside and offering her free hand to Chi-Chi.

"What's your name? Who are you? Do you want to play? I like to play," the hyperactive girl said, then Goku looked at Bulma with some embarrassment before whispering a few words.

"Now I understand how you felt in the past," Goku said to Bulma, who was about to laugh out loud at the nonsense going on in front of her.

'Thank you, Toriyama,' Bulma thanked him mentally before she wiped away a small tear that slid down her cheek.
