Chapter 33: [33]. Donning the Weighted Clothes
"If you two want to learn how to control your Ki, I can help you."
Kami's voice carried a weight to it as he spoke.
Kaso met the elderly Namekian's eyes and responded calmly,
"Then I'll thank you in advance, Kami."
He didn't question why the Kami was willing to help him.
But deep down, he had a pretty good guess.
Just like Korin, the Kami was worried—they feared he and Ausbi'er might bring disaster to Earth.
But could that really happen?
Kami had no idea what Kaso was thinking. He simply nodded, then turned and flew back toward the Lookout with Mr. Popo, riding atop a flying carpet.
He had witnessed the terrifying power Kaso released earlier with his own eyes.
Not even a planetary explosion could rival that energy.
If Kaso wanted to destroy the Earth, no one would be able to stop him.
So this act of goodwill was a calculated gesture.
Give a little now—
In hopes that Kaso might remember it later.
The Kami had truly done everything he could for the sake of Earth's safety.
What he didn't realize… was that all this concern was completely unnecessary.
"Let's go."
Kaso grabbed Ausbi'er's hand and followed after them.
Watching the two figures vanish into the sky, Korin let out a long sigh.
"We're counting on you, Kami…"
As they ascended higher and higher, the air thinned, and the scent of the mortal world faded with the clouds.
When Kaso finally set foot on the Lookout, a wave of tranquility washed over him.
He felt as though the air here held some kind of energy—each breath refreshed his body and mind.
The Lookout was exactly as he remembered it from the anime.
Though in the stories to come, this peaceful sanctuary would become the backdrop to many fierce battles.
Thinking of that, Kaso shook his head slightly.
Kami gestured for them to wait a moment while Mr. Popo went inside to retrieve something.
"I already understand your situation.
Korin was right. Your strength is far too immense.
Before I can teach you how to use Ki, that power must first be suppressed," Kami explained.
Just then, Mr. Popo returned with two orange training outfits.
"Weighted clothes?"
Kaso blurted out instinctively.
"You know about weighted clothing?" Kami raised a brow in surprise.
After all, he'd overheard the conversation between Kaso and Korin. For an alien to know about something like this…
"I've read up on it a bit," Kaso said with a vague smile, not offering more.
Kami nodded. He didn't press further.
He knew better than to ask too many questions—
Too many questions made people wary.
He motioned for the two of them to put the weighted clothes on.
Kaso and Ausbi'er each took a set from Mr. Popo and changed into them.
"So heavy!"
"Sooo heavy!"
The two of them let out a muffled groan at the same time.
Kaso felt like 99% of his strength had just vanished.
Even back on Planet Mumu, carrying mountain-sized loads hadn't felt this exhausting.
Just taking one step now was an immense challenge.
So this is the power of weighted training gear?
Seeing the way the two struggled, Kami frowned slightly.
He hadn't expected them to be this powerful.
He knew exactly how heavy these outfits were—
And the fact that they could stand up at all in them was already shocking enough.
This was far beyond anything Kami had ever seen.
"When you released your energy atop Korin Tower," Kami continued,
"I got a pretty good sense of your strength. The two of you are at very different levels. So naturally, your weights are adjusted accordingly."
That boy was strong enough already.
But this girl—
She wasn't far behind.
"Kami, just call me Kaso. And she's Ausbi'er," Kaso said, gesturing to the girl beside him.
Kami gave him a long look.
Did I overthink this? Maybe they really aren't here to hurt Earth…
His tone softened.
"Kaso, your training outfit simulates 25x Earth gravity.
Ausbi'er's is set to 15x."
"For now, just focus on adjusting to the weight.
Once your bodies can move normally, I'll teach you about Ki."
With that, Kami slowly turned and walked back inside the temple.
"Kaso-gege… it's too heavy…"
Ausbi'er pouted, her expression drooping.
This was even worse than carrying boulders on Planet Mumu.
In her heart, she grumbled:
Why does that green-skinned weirdo make us wear something so heavy just to learn Ki!?
"Come on, Bi'er. You said you wanted to protect me, remember?"
Kaso encouraged her with a smile.
Truthfully, he was struggling too.
But if it meant mastering Ki, then no hardship was too great.
He thought about how Goku had trained from a young age under Grandpa Gohan, then later under Master Roshi—
Climbing Korin Tower, pushing his body past its limits again and again.
If Goku could do it, so can I!
And so, the two began their weighted training.
At first, they could barely take a few steps.
Each movement made their muscles scream. Their bones creaked with every motion.
After half a day, Kaso had barely managed to circle half the Lookout.
He collapsed near the edge, teeth clenched, trying to get up—
But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't.
His strength was completely spent.
All he could do was rest before trying again.
Days passed.
For three days, the two pushed themselves to adjust—
Resting when needed, training when possible.
By the end of that time, they could walk normally in their weighted clothes.
From afar, Kami watched them chatting and strolling around the Lookout like it was nothing.
His jaw dropped.
They were supposed to take a month just to start walking again!
But it had only been a few days!
Unbelievable.
The next few days, their progress became even faster.
By the end of the first week, Kaso and Ausbi'er could run full-speed in their weighted suits.
"Kaso-gege, catch me if you can!"
Ausbi'er giggled as she dashed across the Lookout.
"Get back here, you rascal!"
Kaso laughed, chasing after her.
Kami stood at the side of the platform, staring at the two as if he'd seen a ghost.
"Alright, Kaso—come here for a moment," he finally said.
After a week of observation, Kami had completely made up his mind.
These two children weren't villains.
In fact, they had a genuine, innocent air about them—
Especially the little girl.
Now, he could truly rest easy.
Kaso and Ausbi'er ran up to him, showing no sign of strain from the weighted gear.
"Your progress has completely exceeded my expectations," Kami said.
"Your talent is truly remarkable."
"You flatter us," Kaso replied with a smile.
"No, this isn't flattery," Kami said earnestly.
"I've never seen talent like yours."
After a pause, he continued:
"Since you've now fully adjusted to the weighted suits…
I'll begin teaching you the fundamentals of Ki."
"Ki is everywhere. It flows within people, animals—
Even rocks and plants possess it."
"But among all things, humans are the most intelligent.
We have senses, emotions, desires…
And those make it harder for us to perceive Ki."
"Only when you are as calm as the sky—
And as swift as lightning—
Can you truly control it."
Kaso fell deep into thought.
He'd heard this before in the anime—
But now, for the first time, he understood why.
He looked at Kami with anticipation.
Please… teach us how to do it.
Kami smiled faintly and said:
"From here on, Popo will be your instructor.
He'll guide your training."
With that, Kami turned and returned to the temple.
At that moment, Mr. Popo silently appeared before the two children.
He said nothing. Just stood there calmly.
"Kaso-gege, his skin looks so weird…"
Ausbi'er pointed curiously at Popo.
Kaso hurried to press her hand down.
Honestly, he couldn't quite figure Popo out.
There was something mysterious about him.
In both the anime and now in real life, Popo always seemed unfazed.
No matter what happened, his expression never changed.
Kaso remembered—
In the anime, Popo could even spar with young Goku.
And later, in the Buu saga, he kept up with Super Saiyan Trunks and Goten for a bit.
Truly an enigma.
