Chapter 14: Chapter 14: The Arrival of Future Trunks
As a transmigrator, Levos could never be as pure and simple as the Son family across three generations.
Babidi's mind control magic was a far greater threat to him than Dabura. In fact, it was more dangerous than any physical opponent.
That guy only needed to hide in the shadows to infinitely magnify the darkness in people's hearts and enslave their minds.
This kind of attack was practically impossible to guard against. It was the one thing that gave Levos a massive headache.
That's why he planned to have Bulma install both an emergency shutdown device and a self-destruct mechanism inside his body, just in case.
"Bulma, skip the pain suppression feature. I need the pain feedback in battle to properly gauge my body's condition."
Bulma nodded softly, though her eyes were filled with worry. "But…"
"Babidi's mind control magic is impossible to fully guard against. We can't afford to be careless. These last two modifications are sacrifices we must make to defeat him."
"If you insist, I'll proceed with the changes. Once the crisis is over, I'm sure I can remove those devices from your body."
Bulma's expression was unusually serious as she agreed.
The two of them immediately began preparations for the second-stage modifications.
Levos knew he wouldn't be able to fully focus on training until the modifications were complete.
The bomb installation process was actually quite simple, just implant a micro-bomb near a vital organ, designed to instantly kill him if detonated.
Of course, triggering the bomb required a special remote control that only Bulma could build.
To prevent accidental detonation, it was safeguarded with fingerprint matching, blood verification, and multiple safety locks.
The emergency shutdown device worked the same way. It could only be activated by that remote.
On the day of the new modifications, Bulma personally helped seal Levos inside the modification pod and then quietly climbed into the one across from his.
"Bulma, why are you?"
"Levos, how could I let you go into battle alone?" Bulma winked at him.
She had long since made up her mind.
She never wanted to stand by and watch her friends die again.
This time, she was going to fight too.
Levos was briefly speechless.
In his original plan, Bulma wasn't supposed to fight. She was supposed to provide support from behind the scenes.
The whole point of convincing her to become an Android was to strengthen her self-defense so that she wouldn't get bullied by random thugs when Levos wasn't around.
He never imagined they'd both charge headfirst into Dabura together.
Even as Androids, they'd be no match for the King of the Demon Realm.
The smart play against Babidi's group was to lurk in the shadows and take out the mastermind with a surprise attack.
Once Babidi was dead, Majin Buu would never appear.
As for Dabura, once he regained his freedom, he might not even bother to destroy Earth or hunt Levos down.
Besides, Goku, Vegeta, and the others in the afterlife were probably far stronger than Dabura by now.
Once resurrected, they could easily finish him off.
That's why Levos had always assigned Bulma the safest role in the rear.
The emergency shutdown and micro-bomb were only ever intended for himself.
But now? For some reason, Bulma had changed her mind and willingly entered the modification pod alongside him.
As the anesthetic fluid flowed into his body, Levos gradually drifted out of consciousness.
…
Inside Capsule Corporation, two groups of people stood in a tense standoff.
The atmosphere was electric.
"How did you thugs break into my house? What have you done to my family?!"
A young man from the smaller group roared angrily.
They were only two people. The speaker was tall and strong, his face obscured by a red scarf.
His companion was petite, with long, straight black hair, a woman, also wearing a face covering.
On the other side, the leader of the larger group stepped forward arrogantly.
"And where did this punk come from? You think you can just lay claim to what I've already set my sights on?"
The leader's lackeys jeered.
"Do you even know where you are, kid?"
"Let me clue you in, this used to be the home of the richest family in the world. And you? You look like some bum off the street!"
"There's a lot of good stuff here, but it sure as hell doesn't belong to you!"
"Be smart and get lost, or I'll blow your head off right now!"
The thugs grew more and more aggressive.
But before their words could fully settle, a faint laugh cut through the tension.
The young man moved.
He didn't walk. He didn't run. He vanished, reappearing in front of the gang leader like teleportation.
Before the leader could even react, muffled thuds echoed all around him.
He instantly realized something was terribly wrong. In desperation, he pointed his gun at the woman's body.
Anyone who'd survived the apocalypse knew how to handle a tough opponent.
The leader's move was cold, ruthless, and decisively fast.
"You're quick, but my bullet's faster! If you don't want this chick to die, you'd better surrender right now!"
With his other hand, he wiped the cold sweat off his forehead, baring his teeth in a vicious threat.
Whoosh.
The next second, his vision blurred, and his jaw dropped.
Intense pain shot through his wrist, and somehow his gun was now in the young man's hand.
Then, right before his eyes, the young man slowly crushed the weapon into pieces with one hand.
Crushed a gun, barehanded?
Is this guy even human?!
Glancing around, the leader's henchmen were all lying motionless on the ground, alive but unconscious.
"P-Please! Have mercy! There really wasn't anyone here when we arrived!"
The leader's legs gave out, and he dropped to his knees, begging.
"Are you a local from West City?"
Levos's voice was calm and cold.
The leader didn't know the young man's identity, but seeing that his men were still breathing, he was sure of one thing. This wasn't a bad person.
If he were, they'd all be dead by now.
"Y-Yes! I originally lived in a nearby shelter."
"But so many outsiders flooded into West City and drove us out, we had to go searching for a new base."
"Please, I beg you, spare me! I swear I'll never set foot here again!"
"Everything we found inside, we'll give it all to you!"
Levos's voice remained flat and unreadable. "What happened to the people who used to live here?"
"We didn't do anything to them! When we got here, the place was completely deserted. We didn't even find any supplies."
"If not for the fact that the house was untouched, I would've thought someone else had already looted it!"
"No signs of damage… does that mean they moved out?"
Levos ignored the man's pleading as he floated up into the sky above Capsule Corporation.
He carefully scanned the area and quickly confirmed what the leader had said.
But his own observation was sharper, he could see clear signs that someone had been living here until recently.
If they'd moved out, it couldn't have been long ago.
But where did they go?
