Dragon Ball: I Became Cell in a Doomed Future

Chapter 22: Chapter 22: The Saiyaman Pose

Levos felt a bitter taste in his mouth. He wasn't stupid he knew Frieza's words were a deliberate test.

Compared to him, Lord Frieza clearly trusted his long-time subordinate, Captain Ginyu, far more.

If his answer wasn't satisfactory, his fate would likely be very grim.

Was he really about to become that ugly little frog?

If he became a weak, pitiful frog, how would he even survive?

He had initially planned to use Ginyu. Yet the cruel twist of fate seemed to be that he would become the one to be body-swapped.

Forced into an impromptu performance, Levos quickly adjusted his expression.

"Even on this remote planet called Earth, I've heard of the great Captain Ginyu. He's my idol! To offer my body to him would be the greatest honor of my life!"

"My Lord, to be honest, I've even fantasized about joining the Ginyu Force! I've gone as far as preparing my own battle pose just for that moment. Please, Lord Frieza, allow me to present it to you!"

Humiliating? So what.If humiliating himself meant he could avoid turning into a frog, Levos would gladly do it!

But as a seasoned Dragon Ball fan, he realized he'd never actually practiced those painfully awkward Ginyu Force poses.

So he went with… that one.

"Great Saiyaman! The Masked Superhero!"

Levos shamelessly ripped off Gohan's superhero shtick!

That signature pose from the Dragon Ball Z Buu Saga opening? He'd seen it countless times. It was practically muscle memory!

The only question was: would this appeal to the audience standing before him?Would it awaken Lord Frieza's nostalgic memories?

The sequence had fourteen poses in total all of them ridiculously over-the-top.

As he struck each pose, Levos felt his face burning with shame.

But to his surprise, Ginyu still in frog form became more and more excited. The little amphibian hopped and waved his arms enthusiastically, as if coaching Levos through the movements.

King Cold stared in bewilderment. "I don't quite understand this pose… but it feels oddly powerful."

Frieza's expression twisted into something… strange. As if some long-buried memory had resurfaced.

With a flicker of movement, Frieza snatched the wildly hopping Ginyu out of the air. "Captain Ginyu, Levos is a valuable new recruit to our army. It would be terribly impolite to seize his body, wouldn't you agree? Oh ho ho ho…"

Levos exhaled quietly in relief.

Staying near Frieza and King Cold was far too dangerous. He needed to get away soon.

"Lord Frieza, did you enjoy the battle dance I invented? Was it to your liking?" Levos asked, his face filled with eager anticipation.

The suffocating Ginyu, still clutched in Frieza's hand, gave Levos an enthusiastic nod two little frog thumbs raised in approval.

Levos completely ignored Ginyu's gesture.

If he could, he would've incinerated the traitorous amphibian on the spot.

"Well… energetic. Full of spirit," Frieza said with a twitch of his mouth, his forced smile showing his inner struggle.

Levos's eyes lit up. "Does that mean I'm qualified to join the Ginyu Force?"

It seemed he had dodged the body-swap bullet.

Frieza's temple visibly twitched.

In his grip, Ginyu's frog eyes bulged, his face flushed red, and his body twisted under the crushing pressure, clearly suffocating.

Frieza finally let go, tossing the unconscious frog to the ground in annoyance. "Ahem. We'll revisit the Ginyu Force recruitment process after tomorrow's main event."

"Will you need me and my comrades to participate in tomorrow's operation?" Levos asked at just the right moment.

Frieza's brow furrowed slightly. "Your… comrades?"

Levos immediately straightened up, his tone earnest and respectful. "Yes! We can assist you from the shadows."

Frieza let out two soft chuckles, a cold smirk forming on his lips. "Very well. But you and your group must register for the tournament and fight with everything you've got."

After all, His Majesty never liked to handle grunt work personally.

Levos's heart skipped a beat.

Frieza clearly knew the mechanics behind Majin Buu's resurrection.

He understood that Babidi needed to gather vast amounts of pure energy to break the seal.

Originally, Levos thought even if Babidi drained all the energy from Earth's inhabitants, it still wouldn't be enough to release Majin Buu.

This timeline didn't have top-tier powerhouses like Gohan, Goku, or Vegeta to serve as prime energy sources.

From Babidi's frustrated threats to destroy Earth, it was obvious he was still far from reaching the required energy threshold.

But now… things had changed.

With Frieza and King Cold stepping in, it was clear they intended to deliberately help Babidi achieve his goal just so they could seize control of Majin Buu's body.

The question was, did android energy even count toward Babidi's collection criteria?

That would determine whether Levos could afford to fight at full strength during the tournament.

With Frieza's involvement, the situation had grown exponentially more complicated. Levos wasn't even sure which enemy he should prioritize anymore.

Taking a deep breath, he replied, "No problem. I'll bring everyone to sign up."

"Good. You may leave now, Levos. My son and I have some important matters to discuss." King Cold waved him off. "Don't forget to bring your companions to the tournament tomorrow. We'll personally evaluate their qualifications to join the army."

"Yes, my Lord." Levos bowed respectfully.

As he left, Frieza's expression became thoughtful. "Father, what's your impression of him?"

"A clever little one," King Cold stroked his chin. "The army is in desperate need of fresh blood. Having him on our side wouldn't be a bad thing."

"Hmph. But that Red Ribbon Army he mentioned bothers me," Frieza's eyes gleamed coldly. "If it weren't for our half-year of grueling training, we might have actually fallen to that kid."

"Exactly. Any organization capable of threatening our clan's dominance must be eliminated just like the Saiyans were."

King Cold let out a cruel laugh.

"Speaking of Saiyans… they're like stubborn ghosts that refuse to die. Our forces in the South Galaxy have been wiped out by that arrogant Saiyan."

"If not for dealing with him, we wouldn't have had to travel to this backwater planet to try and seize Majin Buu's power," King Cold's voice was cold as ice.

"If only I had a bit more time to train," Frieza lamented, though his lips curled into a proud smile. "By then, even those lofty gods wouldn't be able to stand against me."

"I look forward to seeing your performance in tomorrow's tournament," King Cold said, patting Frieza's shoulder. "But first, shall we find a new body that can speak for Ginyu?"

Frieza glanced at the unconscious frog, its belly flipped skyward. He replied flatly, "No need. I've already ordered a translation device to be delivered."

He sighed, a trace of helplessness slipping into his voice. "If only Captain Ginyu's personality could be a little less… intense."
