Dragon Ball: I Became Cell in a Doomed Future

Chapter 24: Chapter 24: Arrival at New Namek

After hanging up the call, Levos finally felt a bit of the weight in his chest ease.

Next up was Jaco's side of things!

Earth was in desperate need of warriors, and Porunga just happened to be the perfect solution.

Aside from Goku, Vegeta, Trunks, Gohan, and Piccolo were all critical fighters.

Although their strength might still lag behind Goku's, things would look very different with Elder Kai's potential unlock.

And don't forget about the Fusion Dance slightly weaker fighters could still play a pivotal role.

What would Tien and Chiaotzu's fusion be called? Chaohatsu or Tientz? They should at least reach Super Saiyan-level strength, right?

And the fusion of Future Trunks and Future Gohan, would that give birth to the most dependable Saiyan in history?

Levos couldn't help but look forward to it.

If only the Potara earrings were available Vegito would easily be the most dominating figure on the battlefield!

Unfortunately, the Supreme Kai had already been wiped out in this timeline, which meant Vegito probably wouldn't get a chance to appear.

But would the ever-proud prince even agree to perform the fusion dance with Goku?

In GT, Gogeta might have been a bit of a showboat when fighting Omega Shenron, but when it came to facing Janemba and Broly in the movies, he was cool, decisive, and undeniably reliable.

His appearance was something Levos was genuinely excited for.

Levos made up his mind, no matter what, he'd find a way to convince Vegeta and Goku to fuse!

Beep...beep...beep...

Levos paused for a moment. He noticed that the communicator on the coffee table was flashing.

It was the Galactic Patrol's signal.

Was it Merus? Or Jaco?

Levos snatched up the receiver. "Hello?"

"This is Jaco!"

"Jaco! Have you arrived at New Namek?"

"I have. But…" Jaco's voice sounded panicked. "Something's not right here."

"What happened?" Levos tensed immediately.

"There's no sign of life anywhere on the entire planet."

"Namekians are a sparse population. They live in scattered villages, rarely exceeding a thousand people in total," Levos frowned and explained. "Search carefully."

"That's just it. I mean the people here… they're all dead!" Jaco's voice dropped lower and lower. "I saw a corpse… drifting in the river… with my own eyes."

"That's impossible!" Levos' heart seized. "What about the Dragon Balls? You know, those glowing orange glass spheres? Or even inert stone ones would do."

"I checked as soon as I landed. There's nothing like what you described." Jaco sighed, then added, puzzled, "What's strange is, the bodies show no visible injuries."

No visible injuries?

Levos instantly understood!

He had overlooked a critical detail in his initial plan Moro knew about the Dragon Balls on New Namek.

In the Dragon Ball Super manga Moro Arc, one of the escaped prisoners who broke out with Moro was a former member of Frieza's army.

That guy had once followed Frieza to Namek in search of the Dragon Balls.

Later, he lost to the Namekian warriors and was casually killed by Sabo, who deemed him useless.

However, when the Z Fighters wished for all those killed by Frieza's forces to be revived, this man was included.

After leaving Frieza's army, he committed crimes on planets under Galactic Patrol jurisdiction and was imprisoned, eventually becoming Moro's subordinate.

It was this man who told Moro about the Dragon Balls, and together they began searching for New Namek.

From the looks of it, Moro had already visited New Namek and drained the planet of all its life energy.

He might have even used the Dragon Balls to make three wishes.

In the original story, Moro only made two wishes: one to restore his magic to its peak, and the other to release all the prisoners in the Galactic Prison.

But in this timeline, Levos had no idea what Moro's wishes might have been.

There had been so much bad news lately that Levos felt numb to it.

"If I'm not mistaken, Moro's already been there," Levos said grimly. "This is a major incident for the Galactic Patrol as well. You'd better report this immediately."

"M-Moro?!" Jaco stammered in disbelief. "I'll contact the others right away!"

"Wait! The Namekians might not all be dead. You need to try to save them."

"Got it! I'll start moving them to a safe location now."

Moro might not pose an immediate threat to Earth, but he had just completely destroyed Levos' New Namek plan.

Levos would have to seriously start investigating Moro now.

His wish almost certainly involved restoring his peak magic.

But what were the other wishes?

Immortality? Eternal youth? Supreme power?

"And one more thing…" Levos quickly calculated his next steps as he asked, "Has there been any mass breakout at the Galactic Prison?"

Jaco was clearly confused. "There's been no such report! If that happened, it would've caused a galaxy-wide uproar. We would've heard something by now. Why do you ask?"

So… the other two wishes remain a mystery.

Levos hated unknown variables.

It meant that his advantage as a transmigrator was rapidly slipping away.

Levos had initially assumed that without Goku and Vegeta in this timeline their chronic energy-donating habit wouldn't sabotage Earth and Moro's rise would be much slower.

Clearly, he had miscalculated.

"It's nothing. Please focus on rescuing the Namekians. I'll contact Merus to verify the situation."

Losing the New Namek Dragon Balls was a massive blow to Levos!

It meant those who had died couldn't be revived!

And his hope of wishing for a power boost was now gone too.

Levos quickly dialed the Galactic Patrol's direct line. "Please connect me to Merus."

Beep, beep, beep…

Only busy signals.

Levos tried ten more times but couldn't get through.

Poor signal? Or something worse?

By his calculation, Merus was supposed to arrive on Earth in less than twelve hours.

And Babidi's Martial Arts Tournament would begin in just ten hours.

If Levos wanted to arrive early, his available time would shrink even further.

Why can't I get through to Merus?

Could it be that he found out about Moro's return to full strength and went to stop him alone?

Levos couldn't help but feel worried.

He picked up his phone again and dialed the little ghost's number.

"Yes, that's right! Once Baba returns, I'll need to trouble her to make another trip," Levos patiently explained the current crisis on Earth.

"Please let her know we've already prepared her payment, so she doesn't need to worry about that."

"Understood! So for Baba's second trip, you need her to bring back Vegeta, Son Gohan, Trunks, Piccolo, and Kami, right?"

Considering that people who had already died once would face true erasure if they died again, Levos deliberately didn't include the relatively weaker Z Fighters.

Besides, Piccolo and Kami's importance no longer lay in the Dragon Balls.

What Levos needed now was their strength and wisdom.
