Chapter 66: Chapter 65: The Arrival of Lord Beerus
"Majin Buu! Go to hell!"
With a thunderous roar, Goku unleashed a devastating energy blast. Buu's scream was filled with fear and disbelief—until it abruptly stopped. His body was completely obliterated by Goku's overwhelming attack.
Majin Buu… was no more.
---
"Haha—we won! Majin Buu is finally dead!"
Back in the Supreme Kai Realm, the Supreme Kai leapt up in excitement as he watched Buu's annihilation through his crystal ball. Even Kibito, usually composed and stoic, couldn't help but smile.
"Whew… it's finally over. But… Earth is doomed," Krillin sighed in relief, only to glance around at the erupting volcanoes and crumbling land. The planet was on the verge of complete collapse.
"Alright, enough sighing. Earth's about to explode. Everyone, grab hands. I'll teleport us to another planet. Once the Dragon Balls are usable again, we can restore Earth," Goku said, now back in his base form. He had stored the fusion earrings away in his World Ring—after all, they looked ridiculous. Hanging them on his ears felt like dangling bells on either side.
"What about Master Roshi…?" Krillin asked hesitantly.
"Forget about him! We're out of time. Once we bring Earth back with the Dragon Balls, everyone can be revived. Now hurry, no more wasting time!" Goku urged. The group quickly formed a circle, clasping hands.
Goku looked over at Piccolo and shouted, "Hey, Piccolo! If you don't get over here, we won't make it in time!"
"Hmph! I don't need your help," Piccolo huffed, clearly not in the mood to owe Goku anything.
"Don't flatter yourself. I'm not doing this for you," Goku replied flatly. "But if you die, the Dragon Balls are useless. You're fused with Kami, remember? Plus, the planet I'm taking us to… it's your homeworld."
"My… homeworld?" Piccolo's brow furrowed slightly. After a moment's thought, he walked over to join the group. Though he disliked accepting help from Goku, he cared about Earth's survival—and perhaps Kami's influence was swaying him. Deep down, he also wanted to see the world he'd never known.
Oddly enough, no one else dared to hold his hand—except for Taurus. The big guy casually grabbed Piccolo's hand and said, "Aw, poor guy. Nobody wants to hold your hand? Don't worry—I'll warm that lonely heart of yours!"
"Boss! Since when do you swing that way?! What about Bella?!" the strategist yelped and quickly clutched his rear.
"Shut it, idiot! I'm all man—I don't swing that way!" Taurus slapped him upside the head and glared.
"You two better shut the hell up! This is not the time for your nonsense!" Goku barked. Both men immediately recoiled and zipped their mouths.
"Alright, hold on tight—we're leaving!" Goku shouted. He pressed two fingers to his forehead. With a flash of light, the entire group vanished.
Moments later…
BOOM!
The Earth exploded into cosmic dust.
---
At that very moment, just as Goku had transformed into Super Saiyan 3 and wiped Buu from existence…
In a distant region of the universe, a massive, inverted pyramid-like structure floated in space. A giant, leafless tree stood at its center, with buildings spiraling up and around its trunk—forming a vast castle suspended in the heavens.
At the top level, a long corridor inlaid with glowing blue crystals encircled the tower. Within it stood a refined-looking man with slick white hair swept neatly to the sides, the top forming a vertical crest. A tilted halo-like ring floated around his neck. He was casually trimming his fingernails, but suddenly paused—his eyes narrowing.
Something… had caught his attention.
He turned to gaze into the distance—his vision penetrating through layers of space, fixating on a small planet: Earth.
"Interesting… A lower-world fighter whose power reached all the way to the Divine Realm? Quite remarkable…"
Just then—
CRASH!
A blur of energy smashed through the wall behind him. A lean, feline humanoid burst into the corridor, radiating excitement. His purple fur, long ears, and sharp golden eyes made him look like a godly panther. He grinned eagerly.
"Whis! Did you feel that just now? That power! That incredible power! Quickly—find out where it came from! I want to fight that guy!"
"Ahh… So even Lord Beerus has awakened," Whis said with an amused tone. "Seems this fighter really is extraordinary. But he's just a mortal from the lower realms. Is it really worth your attention?"
Had Goku been present, he would've been shocked speechless. Standing before him were the two most powerful beings introduced in Dragon Ball Z:
Lord Beerus, the God of Destruction.
And Whis, his attendant—and teacher.
"No, Whis. I have a feeling. That guy could give me the fight of a lifetime. I need to meet him—and challenge him!" Beerus' tone was serious for once. He meant it.
"Well, since you insist… Please wait a moment."
Whis extended his hand. A staff floated into his grasp. He tapped the floor with it, and dazzling diamond-like shapes glowed in the air, forming a constellation of symbols around them. A holographic image emerged from his staff—it was Goku, in Super Saiyan 3, vaporizing Buu in a single blow.
Beerus' eyes widened. "Who's that?! He's incredible! Is he the one whose power woke me up?!"
"Yes," Whis replied calmly. "His name is Son Goku, though some call him Kakarot. He's a Saiyan."
"Huh… A Saiyan? Didn't Frieza destroy Planet Vegeta already? That arrogant fool can't even wipe out a single race properly. I should destroy him myself the next time I see him."
"No need. Frieza has already been defeated—by this very Saiyan."
"What?! Frieza got beaten by him? Hehehe… That makes me even more curious!" Beerus' excitement grew.
"And this Saiyan's power doesn't end there." Whis tapped his staff again, changing the image. This time, it showed Goku's transformation into the Golden Great Ape, and then evolving into Super Saiyan 4.
"This form… seems to be his strongest yet. He surpassed the limits of the Saiyan race—and then kept pushing even further. He's gone through Super Saiyan 1, 2, and 3… and now this. He calls it 'Super Saiyan 4.'"
"Impressive… A Saiyan this powerful… Wonderful! Whis! Get ready! We're going to meet him—and I'm going to challenge him!" Beerus laughed with delight.
"Yes, Lord Beerus. To be honest, I'm quite intrigued by this Son Goku as well…"
---
Back in the Supreme Kai Realm…
The joy on the Supreme Kai's face after Buu's defeat suddenly froze. Cold sweat poured down his back.
"This… this ki… It can't be… That presence... It's unmistakable… He's awake… We're in serious trouble…"
"Looks like I was rescued at the worst possible time," the Old Supreme Kai sighed, no longer as calm as before. "He's awake… I wonder how many planets will be destroyed this time…"
"W-Who are you talking about? Why do you both look like that? Another powerful enemy?" Kibito asked, visibly shaken.
"'Powerful' doesn't even begin to describe it. He's the nightmare of the entire universe! Every time he wakes up, countless worlds are obliterated…" the Supreme Kai muttered in dread.
"Wait… No, don't tell me… You mean… him?!" Kibito turned pale.
"That's right… the true strongest being in the universe… Lord Beerus, the God of Destruction!"
"What?! Him?!" Kibito nearly collapsed on the spot.
---
Meanwhile, on Planet Namek…
Goku and the others had just arrived. Several Namekians were already waiting, including Earth's future guardian, Dende, and the warrior Nail.
"Welcome, Son Goku. The Grand Elder has been expecting you," Nail said with a respectful bow. His reverence wasn't just for Goku's strength—but for saving the universe itself.
"So the Grand Elder already knows… Seems like he still keeps a close eye on Earth," Goku chuckled. "Lead the way."
"G-Goku… These guys… They look just like Piccolo! Is this really his home planet?" Krillin asked, nervously tugging on Goku's sleeve.
"Don't worry. Namekians are a peaceful, kind-hearted race," Goku said, patting Krillin's shoulder. "Piccolo used to be evil because he was the dark side of Earth's Kami. But now that they've fused again, he's a different person."
Krillin and the others relaxed slightly.
Taurus glanced at the silent Piccolo and smirked. "So? First time on your home planet—feeling emotional? Wanna scream at the sky or something? I'll howl with you if it helps!"
Piccolo ignored him and calmly took in the surroundings. For once, he felt a rare inner peace. He chose not to bicker.
Soon, they arrived at the Grand Elder's home. A deep, ancient voice echoed:
"Son Goku… On behalf of all Namekians, welcome to Namek. I've heard what happened to your planet. I'm truly sorry."
"Whoa… That's the Grand Elder? He's huge!" Krillin's jaw dropped.
"He's so big I bet walking is a challenge," Taurus muttered like a self-proclaimed expert.
SMACK! Goku slapped the back of his head. "Shut up! Don't you have any respect for elders?"
"Sorry, Boss! I helped an old lady cross the street once, I swear!" Taurus put on his best pitiful face.
Goku turned back to the Elder. "It can't be helped. Earth can be restored later. Until the Dragon Balls are usable again, I hope we can stay here for a while."
"You're more than welcome. Stay as long as you like. Nail, please show our guests to their quarters and take good care of them."
"Yes, Grand Elder. Right this way," Nail gestured and began walking. The others followed, leaving only Piccolo behind.
"You must be Piccolo… I know your story. Welcome home, child. I'm sure you have many questions…"
---
Meanwhile, in deep space, two figures were soaring through the cosmos, encased in a glowing sphere of light.
"Whis… This doesn't feel like we're heading toward Earth…"
"That's because Earth has already been destroyed, Lord Beerus. Son Goku has relocated to a planet called Namek. We're en route to Namek right now. Please be patient—just a few more minutes."
"Good. Hurry up! I can't wait to fight that Saiyan!"
