Dragon Ball: My Earthly Rebirth

Chapter 5: Chapter 5: The Two-Star Ball (Part 2)

When he heard this voice, John's body suddenly stiffened, and he immediately raised his head to greet Bulma's mother, "Auntie, hello, I never expected you to bring me drinks personally."

Bulma's mother smiled and said, "I saw you and Bulma come in together from the flower room on the third floor, so I volunteered."

"Try it quickly, I made this drink myself, taste if it's good," Bulma's mother said with a smile.

John didn't think much about it and immediately picked up the drink and took a sip, but after drinking it, he immediately spat it out, nearly spraying it on Bulma's mother.

John opened his mouth wide and shouted, "Hot, hot, hot..." before quickly putting the drink on the nearby shelf.

At this time, Bulma's mother said with a somewhat helpless smile, "You're really too hasty, this was just poured and is still very hot."

"Open your mouth, let me take a look!" Bulma's mother gently lifted John's chin, asking him to open his mouth.

John stood there at a loss, obediently opening his mouth.

Bulma's mother said, "It's okay, it's not too serious. You should be more careful next time."

Looking at John, who was still at a loss because of her, Bulma's mother said, "Alright, I won't disturb you anymore. Take your time looking for the Dragon Ball, I'll go now."

After Bulma's mother left, John finally let out a sigh of relief. Previously, when watching her tease Goku and Vegeta on TV, he only found it amusing.

But after crossing over and being teased himself, John felt the pressure was immense. Fortunately, unlike their first meeting, Bulma's mother was obviously more restrained this time.

John continued searching for the Dragon Ball in the warehouse, looking for nearly three days. During this time, Bulma would occasionally come in to help John search, but John was still doing most of the searching.

By the third day, John finally found the Dragon Ball at the bottom of a miscellaneous box - it was the Two-Star Dragon Ball.

"Bulma, I found it, I found the Dragon Ball!" Bulma, who was doing homework in her room, heard John's voice through the speaker.

Soon after, Bulma drove her hover board to the hall and saw the Two-Star Dragon Ball placed on the table.

Bulma asked, "Are you sure this is the Dragon Ball?"

John said, "It should be correct. Although I've never seen a Dragon Ball before, it should be right. Besides, there's no point in making fake Dragon Balls, they can't be sold for money anyway."

Bulma nodded, then picked up the Dragon Ball and said, "Come on, let's go to the laboratory and see if this Dragon Ball has any special properties."

In the laboratory, Bulma placed the Dragon Ball on the experimental platform and performed a series of scans and tests. Soon, a waveform pattern appeared on the screen of the Dragon Ball scanning device.

Bulma excitedly pointed at the waveform and said to John, "Do you see it?"

John looked at the waveform somewhat bewildered and asked, "See what, the wavy lines?" For someone who hadn't even finished high school in his previous life before going to work, electromagnetic waves were really too difficult for him to understand.

Bulma gave John a small look of disdain, then said, "This is a very special electromagnetic wave that constantly changes its wavelength. I can use this to make a Dragon Radar, so we can detect the location of the Dragon Balls."

John happily said, "Really? That's great! I knew you were the smartest person in the world, the number one genius, Bulma!" John frantically flattered Bulma.

Bulma thoroughly enjoyed John's flattery, showing a proud expression, but while waving her hand, she modestly said, "Oh, don't say that, I'm really just average, these are basic operations."

After finding the Dragon Ball, the next step was to make the Dragon Radar, though John couldn't help with this.

So this task fell on Bulma's shoulders. Fortunately, Bulma had an incredible talent for mechanical manufacturing and was very passionate about it - one might even say obsessed. It only took her about a week to make a relatively large Dragon Radar.

This Dragon Radar was about the size of a 14-inch laptop, with a circular screen and handles on both sides, which could be held with one or both hands.

Bulma said, "This is just a prototype now. I'm designing a smaller portable Dragon Radar, but that's more difficult to make. I'm currently designing the radar blueprints."

John nodded and said, "This is already very good. How do I operate it now?"

So Bulma began to explain to John how to operate the Dragon Radar. After pressing the switch, a display screen would appear, and there was a rotating knob at the top of the radar that could adjust the size of the radar screen by turning it.

After the radar was turned on, Bulma made a surprised sound.

John asked, "What's wrong?"

Bulma said, "The radar shows that the second Dragon Ball is very close to us, only about sixty kilometers away. It seems to be in the mountains to the north."

"How do you read it?" John quickly asked.

So Bulma taught John how to read the Dragon Radar and how to calculate the position and distance of the Dragon Balls.

After teaching John, Bulma said, "Look, now with the Dragon Radar reduced to its smallest size, there are seven constantly flashing dots on this radar, which verifies what you said about there being seven Dragon Balls in total."

"This dot in the very center is our Two-Star Ball, and the Dragon Ball closest to us is this one, to our north."

John nodded and said, "In that case, I'll go there this afternoon to retrieve the Dragon Ball."

But Bulma said, "No, I'm going with you."

"But you have to go to school this afternoon, and it's too dangerous. We don't know where the Dragon Ball has fallen, what if there are dinosaurs or monsters there?" John said.

Bulma insisted, "We agreed earlier that we would go on adventures together to find the Dragon Balls."

"Besides, isn't that why you're here? You won't let me be in danger, right? We can also bring guns, and if we really encounter danger, we'll run away quickly."

John wanted to persuade her further, but Bulma directly threatened, "If you don't take me with you, I can go by myself, you know the Dragon Radar was made by me."

"Alright, I can take you along to look for the Dragon Ball, but you must follow my instructions and not run off on your own," John said seriously.

"Yes, Sir!" Bulma immediately agreed happily.
