Chapter 11: It’s Okay to be Selfish
In the middle of the Night.
Bulma and Vegeta were lying on their bed. They still have not fallen asleep just yet.
Bulma felt sorry for Vegeta when she saw he was unable to lift the armour during the day.
She knew she was being selfish by trying to spend more time with him and Trunks.
She feels like she was using her pregnancy as an excuse.
When she knows how prideful he is and how obsessed he is with surpassing Goku and Gohan.
She knew she was taking away the time he could use for training.
Instead, she was making him do chores even though she could easily hire a maid with the amount of money she had.
"Vegeta. I am thinking of hiring maids to help around the house." She said to him.
"Huh?" Vegeta was confused by the words that came out of nowhere.
"Why?" He asked.
"I might be getting in your way because of my selfishness. I want to spend time with you and Trunks but these days I feel like I am preventing you from doing what you like." Bulma said to Vegeta.
"Do what you want," Vegeta said to her as he pretended to sleep.
After a few minutes, Bulma finally fell asleep. That is when Vegeta hugged her and whispered something while she was still sleeping.
"It's okay to be selfish." He said as he kissed her on her forehead before he finally fell asleep.
-----------------------------
Since that day Vegeta started to train again.
However, he was only training with Trunks in his free time and only trained for an hour so that his body would not get rusty.
He still spends most of his time with Bulma and the baby inside her belly.
He just stopped doing chores but most of his routine didn't change.
He was still messaging her, carrying her around when she wanted to go somewhere and being present around her all the time except for an hour that he used for training.
He even went on Vacations with Bulma and Trunks. Which he would have never done in the past.
-----------------------------
Months have passed since the day Goten went to the lookout.
Gohan was studying in the room where he lived with Goten.
Goten went away for training so he had the whole room to himself.
But he was feeling a little lonely now that his brother was gone.
And so is Chichi who looked down as she sat on the sofa in the living room.
"Gohan when is your brother coming back?" Chichi asked Gohan from the living room.
"He said he still wants to stay there until Trunks can play with him again," Gohan replied.
Chichi was not a fan of Goten spending all the time away from home.
However, she accepted that Goten had his own life and that staying in the middle of nowhere would be lonely for him.
Especially when she and Gohan could not spend much time with him.
Then suddenly Gohan's eye lit up. He sensed Goten's ki approaching them.
A few seconds later they heard the door open and Chichi's eyes shone when she saw the boy that entered her house.
"My baby." She said as she ran towards Goten to give him a hug.
He was only gone for a month but with the way she is acting people might start to think that he came back from the dead or a war.
"Hi. Mom." Goten greeted her.
Gohan also got out of his room to check on his mother and brother.
------------------------
Later that night.
"Goten," Gohan said to Goten.
"Have you managed to use Super Saiyan Grade 4 yet?" Gohan asked Goten.
"I think so. But I am still too weak to match you and Vegeta. I fought with Piccolo but he is not strong enough for me to improve my strength." Goten said.
"I see," Gohan replied.
Goten is even stronger than Mister Piccolo and can use the perfected Super Saiyan form. This means it will only be a matter of time until he surpasses me. Gohan thought in his mind.
But he did not feel sad. In fact, he was feeling a bit happy.
He is still not sure if Vegeta has caught up to him and his dad is not here on Earth.
He knew Vegeta in base form was already stronger than him in his base form. He is just not sure if Vegeta has unlocked ssj2.
As the strongest, Gohan considered the safety of the earth to be his responsibility even though he never wanted to become a fighter himself.
But when he realized that Goten and Trunks were making rapid progress he felt relief.
Even though he knew it was wrong, he wanted to push the responsibility of the strongest to Goten and Trunks.
Both of them are still under the age of five.
Currently, he is still stronger than the two boys despite becoming weaker compared to a few years ago when he became Super Saiyan 2 for the first time but he knew that given one or two years both of them would surpass him.
Piccolo thought that Goten had already surpassed Vegeta from cell games. However, Gohan knew that this was not the case yet.
Goten and Trunks even at their full power have no chance of beating both future Trunks and Vegeta in the cell games even in their Super Saiyan grade 2 and 3 forms.
They were very strong but not that strong yet.
Sometimes having a better transformation does not mean you will be stronger than the other person with what can be referred to as an inferior transformation.
It plays a factor but it is not the end all be all.
Super Saiyan transformation gives the user a multiplier to their base strength.
Meaning becoming Super Saiyan will make the user stronger but how much stronger he becomes in his Super Saiyan state varies from one person to another.
"Goten. I want to warn you about something. If you want to become something other than a warrior you should stop your quest to become stronger," Gohan said.
"Because once you get on that path you won't be able to turn back anymore and your life as a warrior will only hinder your ambitions and dreams," Gohan said to Goten.
Goten knew what Gohan was saying to him. Gohan does not have any malicious intentions.
He just wanted to warn his little brother about the danger and the hardships that lie in the path that he is choosing.
If Goten just treats fighting and being a super saiyan as something that he likes doing because it is fun Gohan would not be warning him.
Gohan warned him because he knew Goten was serious about becoming stronger.
