Dropped into Naruto, Breaking the World Apart

Chapter 145: Chapter 7: Courting Death Before Defection

"Uchiha Itachi, do you know how many Kekkei Genkai clans are left in the shinobi world? Do you know when most of them disappeared?" the shadow asked in return.

Itachi's expression darkened. He had never paid close attention before, but now he suddenly realized that there were barely any Kekkei Genkai clans left—and most had vanished after the founding of the hidden villages.

Kirigakure's Blood Mist policy openly persecuted Kekkei Genkai clans.

Even the Senju Clan, the maternal clan of two Hokage, didn't escape unscathed.

Now, who in Konoha even remembers the Senju Clan?

Some say the Senju were scattered and fully assimilated into Konoha. But that theory doesn't really hold water. Konoha's history is far too short, and the Senju were far too prominent. How could they have just blended in?

What, did they all get plastic surgery and pretend to be ordinary villagers?

Konoha's population couldn't have absorbed that many unfamiliar faces. And back when the Second Hokage was still alive, the Senju wouldn't have willingly abandoned their proud name.

Besides, everyone has a few relatives or friends. Even if they quietly assimilated, just one family visit and they'd be exposed on the spot~

No matter how brilliant Tobirama was, at most he could've smuggled a few orphans away under new names to preserve the clan's bloodline.

The Senju had a chance to blend in because their Kekkei Genkai didn't have obvious dominant traits. If the person didn't say anything, no one could tell.

But it was a different story for the Uchiha and Hyūga. The Hyūga's Byakugan is visible from birth—too distinct. No matter how you change your name, it's useless. Same with the Uchiha. Once you awaken the Sharingan, anyone can tell you're Uchiha. Blending in with the common folk is impossible.

Itachi's face scrunched up like a wrinkled puppy.

"Conflict between the village and the clan is inevitable. But then… how am I supposed to prevent that conflict from escalating into full-blown war?"

The shadow chuckled. "That's easy. Just wipe out your clan before the conflict erupts—then all your problems vanish!"

Itachi's eyes went wide. "That's not funny at all!"

The shadow quivered with laughter.

"Then flip it around. Eliminate Konoha's leadership instead."

Itachi took a deep breath. "Senpai, for you to say such things… it really doesn't suit your supposed identity!"

The unknown entity hiding within Itachi's shadow claimed to be an ancestor of the Senju Clan from the founding era. He had first approached Uchiha Shisui, but found Shisui too kind-hearted (read: naïve), and not up to his standards. So he turned to Itachi, hoping he would inherit his will and bring everlasting peace to the world.

Why didn't the Senju ancestor seek out his own descendants and instead chose an Uchiha?

According to him, the Senju bloodline had already grown weak, and his closest friend in life had been an Uchiha. He wanted to rekindle that bond.

That excuse was incredibly flimsy. Itachi had even checked the clan records and consulted some of the elders—none of them had ever heard of a Senju Tōya, and there was no record of a Yuki Uchiha either.

Itachi knew it was a lie—but he endured it.

Because this so-called "ancestor" was incredibly knowledgeable. He seemed to know all the secrets of the shinobi world and possessed a vast arsenal of high-level techniques. He was practically an encyclopedia, and his insights often opened up whole new ways of thinking.

Itachi figured he'd milk him for all he was worth. Since "Senju Tōya" could only dwell in shadows and manipulate others, he probably wasn't capable of doing anything himself. Itachi believed he could stay true to his heart and avoid falling under any negative influence.

...

Getsushoku had been keeping a close eye on Orochimaru lately.

He had sensed Orochimaru's intent to defect.

So he decided to beat him to it.

If Orochimaru ran first, his subordinates would definitely be investigated. Anko had a legitimate identity and was a useless weakling—no one would really care about her. But Getsushoku was different. He was genuinely afraid Danzo might hit him with the Cursed Tongue Eradication Seal.

Besides, there was nothing in this village worth staying for. Remaining made it easier to stir trouble, but leaving wouldn't stop him either.

Still, before he left, he wanted to leave Konoha with a parting gift they'd never forget!

Getsushoku had learned White Zetsu's Transformation Jutsu and disguised himself as Uchiha Madara.

Under cover of night, he crept up to the Hokage Rock and found the explosive tags left by Gennō.

Boom! The Hokage Rock exploded.

The blast shook the entire village awake in an instant.

Getsushoku created a shadow clone to keep stirring chaos atop the Hokage Rock—classic diversion tactic.

Meanwhile, his real body slipped toward the Hokage Tower.

Soon, Konoha mobilized completely. The Third Hokage donned his battle armor, face grim. Danzo even showed up with his Root operatives—unusually not hiding in the shadows.

Because standing on the Hokage Rock, a man claiming to be Uchiha Madara was shouting threats. He declared he had faked his death and returned to destroy Konoha, crush Hashirama's failed ideals, and rebuild true peace.

Danzo didn't dare hold back. This was Uchiha Madara!

Even if there was only a 10% chance he was real, Danzo couldn't afford to take risks.

Meanwhile, Getsushoku's real body had already sneaked into the Hokage's office. Things like the Scroll of Seals didn't interest him—he was a system-sponsored man, after all.

Bypassing layers of seals, he slipped a few forged documents into the archives. Once done, he calmly walked away.

On the Hokage Rock, "Uchiha Madara" was locked in fierce battle with the village shinobi. But soon, people began to notice something off.

This Madara… seemed kind of weak?

"He's not Madara!" Danzo was the first to catch on, grinding his teeth. "If Uchiha Madara were still alive, how old would he be by now? There's no way he'd still look that young!"

Blame it on the hype surrounding Madara's name. The village leaders had panicked and overlooked the details. If this so-called Madara had shown overwhelming strength, they might've bought it. After all, a legendary figure like him having some reverse-aging technique wouldn't be surprising.

Unfortunately, this imposter was too weak. He barely held out before blowing his cover.

Hiruzen's face darkened . The explosion and fake Madara had made Konoha a laughingstock!

The fake "Uchiha Madara" realized he was exposed and instantly activated the Transformation Jutsu again—this time turning into… Sarutobi?

"Hiruzen, my child... I never thought you'd become Hokage. As your father, I'm so proud..."

"How dare you!!" A furious Hiruzen unleashed a Five Element Barrage on the spot. Impersonating his father? That crossed every line. He had to die! Die!

Poof! Getsushoku's shadow clone vanished in a puff of white smoke...
