Dual System in Daily World

Chapter 229: 229: Their Differences

It is necessary to briefly discuss Utaha's experiences in those two dreams.

Compared to Eriri, her life was not as smooth.

It can be seen from the ending that her story concluded without any major issues; however, she was once overshadowed by Eriri, becoming a hidden lover behind the scenes.

Although, later on, as the relationship among the three of them deepened, and she gained the recognition of each other's parents.

Utaha slowly emerged from behind the scenes and became the second Mrs. Suzumiya, who could finally be in the spotlight, but the label from her past still lingered in her heart.

It wasn't easily erased.

Utaha had a somewhat strong personality.

Even in those two dreams, Chisato had the ability to earn enough money to support the entire family.

After marriage, she was not satisfied with merely being a housewife, caring for her husband and raising children; she invested all her time and energy into her family, husband, and children.

But like many independent women of the new era, she always desired to have her own career.

In the first simulation, she followed her talent and later became a novelist.

In the second simulation, while managing the company for Chisato, she continued to write her novel in private.

Independence is undoubtedly a valuable and rare quality.

However, sometimes, differences in lifestyle and achievements can be highlighted through comparison.

At this point, it's important to mention Eriri. In fact, she was quite similar to Utaha in the beginning.

Eriri loved drawing, especially intricate character illustrations.

Since middle school, she had been determined to become a professional original painter or illustrator, working in fields related to the two-dimensional world.

Both of them had planned early and set the direction for their future endeavors.

The only difference was that after meeting the person they loved, the two acted completely differently.

Utaha insisted on her original aspirations, wanting to balance her employment dreams with her family life.

In contrast, Eriri made some compromises.

She did not abandon her original dream, but the focus of her life began to gradually shift, and the direction of that shift was quite clear.

In summary, one person divided her energy equally between family and work, while the other gradually reduced her working hours until she confirmed her pregnancy.

After discussing it with her loved ones, she settled into the role of a full-time wife.

Compared to Utaha, Eriri thus had more free time.

During this time, the people she interacted with almost daily included, aside from her lover, her mother.

Whether to call it bridal training or simply Mrs. Sawamura's interest in it, from that moment on, Eriri began to frequently meet her mother and follow her teachings.

She also started to learn tea ceremony, flower arrangement, and other skills she had previously been uninterested in.

These activities could significantly improve one's character, alleviate internal hostility, and were incredibly relaxing, enhancing a wife's strengths.

It was through this experience that Eriri transformed.

From someone who seemed extremely immature regarding marriage and love, she evolved into a somewhat naive but already developing Yamato Nadeshiko.

In the first dream, Chisato's parents were ranchers, making a lot of money through hard work.

To alleviate her in-laws' burdens, Eriri rarely accepted money from them.

When she had no choice but to accept, she would save it so her husband could return it in other ways later.

Intentionally or unintentionally, when she occasionally went home, she would playfully ask her father, who doted on her, for some money to help support the family.

After all, her father was wealthy, so this small amount was insignificant to him.

Besides, he only had one daughter, so if he didn't love her, whom should he love?

That was roughly the situation.

In the second dream, Chisato's family was wealthy enough that Eriri no longer needed to worry about financial issues.

She turned her original goals into hobbies and no longer considered pursuing her career. As long as her career developed in the right direction, her life would be happy.

Thus, as a rich wife enjoying peace of mind, she expanded her interests to include calligraphy, yoga, classical music appreciation, and various other pursuits that enhanced her femininity.

In comparison, Utaha had not changed much.

From a bystander's perspective, it was evident who was doing better between the two of them.

Both made the right choices, but if their performances were aligned more with Chisato's preferences, it would undoubtedly be Eriri.

Then, time turned back to the afternoon in reality.

The two of them went out together and said goodbye to Chisato, who was heading to work at the stars.

There were no words exchanged until they reached the tram stop and were about to part ways.

"Hey, are you just leaving and not staying at Chisato's place tonight?"

Eriri's sudden words caused Utaha to stop as she stepped onto the downward stairs, turning around to look up at her.

"What's wrong? Isn't this what you want? Don't you also dislike me spending time with Chisato behind your back?"

"..."

Eriri sighed lightly, taking two steps down so her eyes were level with Utaha's.

"Usually, it's just you and me, of course I think that way, but now the situation has changed."

"My family is too strict, and I can't help it. You, on the other hand, are different. The situation with Chisato is still uncertain."

"Can you really rest easy letting him live there alone?"

"Who said you believed in him before?"

"One rule equals one rule. This is double insurance. Don't be angry with me right now."

"I'm not mad at you, don't worry. I'll go back later, but I have to return now to get some things."

"What do you want to do?"

"Of course, I want to please him. It's just about adopting an obedient and lovable demeanor, like you do."

"It's not difficult. During this period, I'll make sure Chisato only has eyes for me, keeping him mentally and physically occupied with me."

The corners of Utaha's mouth turned up slightly, and her smile brought an unexplainable sense of reassurance.

"That's better."

Eriri smiled back.

Utaha's calmness was reassuring. She finally understood what was most important at that moment.

In this case, she could feel at ease and go home.

"What do you need me to do?"

"Just don't call me late at night and cause trouble."

"You're planning to..."

"It won't be so hasty, but that doesn't prevent me from using other methods..."

The two started walking again, side by side, toward the bottom of the stairs.
