Duolou: After taking advice, I became Supreme!

Chapter 86: Chapter 85: Tang San's Codename – Bull Slayer!

As he spoke, Flender took a sip of his fine tea with a calm expression.

Having run Shrek Academy for over twenty years, he naturally knew what educational approach would resonate most with the students. His method was to spark their interest through his words. After all, if interest is a prerequisite, everything else becomes twice as effective.

To Flender, the students qualified to join Shrek Academy were all prodigies, or perhaps even monsters. Such extraordinary talents couldn't be educated through conventional methods.

His academy didn't have the resources for a more conventional approach, so he had to rely on this method, even if it seemed somewhat unprofessional. As for any lingering injuries from battles?

Flender had never considered that. They're monsters, after all! If they couldn't handle a minor injury, they weren't monster enough. Not his problem!

After Flender's speech, Dai Mubai glanced awkwardly at everyone before finally saying, "I started participating in the Soto Great Spirit Arena matches when I was level 29. I've fought 56 battles, with 29 wins and 27 losses. My current score is 2. It takes 100 points to upgrade from Iron to Bronze Spirit Fighter. Each win grants a point, while each loss deducts a point.

"If you win more than five matches consecutively, each additional win grants ten points. If you win over ten consecutive matches, each additional win grants 100 points. However, if your score drops below 100, your Bronze Spirit Fighter rank is revoked.

"It takes 1,000 points to upgrade from Bronze to Silver Spirit Fighter. For Bronze matches, each win grants ten points, and each loss deducts ten. The bonus system for consecutive wins is the same as Iron Spirit Fighters."

Tang San, who knew something of Dai Mubai's strength—having fought him before and even earned the hidden title "Bull Slayer"—was a bit surprised. "Dai Mubai, with your strength, only 29 wins and 27 losses? How is that possible? Your spirit should be one of the stronger Beast Spirits. Are you that weak?"

A flash of irritation appeared in Dai Mubai's eyes at Tang San's question, but he forced a bitter smile and replied, "It's not impossible. The Great Spirit Arena is no easy place. There are three types of matches: standard matches, which are skill-testing bouts following rank-based groupings; and as I mentioned, groups are organized by the number of spirit rings.

"Once you gain an additional spirit ring, you're moved to the next group. When I was level 29, I won four matches in a row, just one win away from earning ten times the points. But I advanced to level 30 and got my third spirit ring, which pushed me to the next group, where I lost over ten matches in a row and ended up with a negative score.

"Facing opponents with three spirit rings at levels 38 or 39 when I was only level 30 made winning nearly impossible. To achieve consistent wins, you'd have to compete at level 29 for a while, then pause until you're close to level 39 before rejoining. But our goal is real combat experience, so I didn't do that. That's why my record isn't great.

"My score isn't even as high as Fatty's."

When Ma Hongjun noticed everyone looking at him, he turned a bit pale, showing a hint of fear as he added, "So far, I've had 33 battles with 21 wins and 12 losses, totaling nine points."

Yun Feng didn't mind this but found himself anticipating the practical experience in the Great Spirit Arena. He wondered how much he could improve there.

However, he did have a question: there shouldn't be many opponents at the Spirit Ancestor level, right?

Flender glanced at the sky outside. "It's about time. Let's head over. I'll fill you in on the rest when we get there."

After Ning Rongrong settled the tea bill, the group of eight left the teahouse and set out toward the Soto Great Spirit Arena.

As they got closer, the sheer size and grandeur of the arena became even more awe-inspiring, especially for Yun Feng, Xiao Wu, and Tang San, who were rather inexperienced and hadn't seen much of the world.

When they arrived in Soto City, they hadn't come to this part of town, so they didn't realize that such an imposing building existed in the city.

The Soto Great Spirit Arena was oval-shaped, standing 120 meters tall. Inside, it housed one main arena and 24 sub-arenas, accommodating up to 60,000 spectators, including 100 VIP suites. This was not only a place for Spirit Masters to spar but also a venue where various powers could display their strength.

As they walked toward the arena, Flender filled Yun Feng and the others in on the remaining details.

There were three types of fights here: skill-testing matches, which forbid deadly attacks; life-or-death battles, to resolve irreconcilable disputes; and betting duels, with the Great Spirit Arena serving as referee. In betting duels, both sides wager everything, and the victor takes it all. A betting duel is inherently a life-or-death match.

Many nobles and clans resort to this method when serious conflicts arise.

Matches can take one of three formats: one-on-one, two-on-two, or team battles. For team matches, both sides agree on the number of participants, typically between seven and ten, as per the Great Spirit Arena's rules.

Inside the Great Spirit Arena, a massive stone tablet was the first thing they saw, covered with densely packed names.

Flender explained that these were the names of those who had perished in spirit battles.

Registering for a battle was straightforward. They simply had to fill out a form with their name, age, place of birth, and spirit to receive an initial Iron Spirit Fighter badge. A ten-gold coin registration fee was also required.

Additionally, they each underwent a spirit power test, similar to the one in the Spirit Hall, to determine their level.

Dai Mubai informed everyone that before each battle, they would have to undergo a spirit power test to ensure fair matching with their opponents.

Flender wasn't paying for their registrations—he'd been exploited one too many times and learned his lesson. He needed to stay alert around these young monsters to avoid getting tricked again.

Seeing this, Yun Feng only smiled calmly and then, alongside Ning Rongrong, Tang San, Xiao Wu, and Zhu Zhuqing, completed his registration.

One detail that stood out to Yun Feng was that the registration staff didn't show any mockery or surprise at their young age. They handled everything formally and efficiently, indicating that the Great Spirit Arena was far from ordinary.
