Duolou: Reborn with reality Pen

Chapter 41: Becoming famous

The next day, news of Tang San and Yu Xiaogang's public disgrace had somehow spread across the entire Douluo Continent. No one could say exactly how it happened, but every city, town, and remote village heard about it.

Even more shocking was the appearance of life-sized statues of both Tang San and his master in various places, from capital cities to rural alleys. No one knew who built them, but a strange rumor began circulating: if someone stood before the statue and cursed them, their frustration and bad mood would vanish.

The legend of the "hypocrite granddaughter and grandfather" quickly spread, mocking how cunning, two-faced, and disgusting the pair truly were.

When the Clear Sky Sect discovered the existence of these statues, along with the fact that Tang San's identity as Tang Hao's son had been exposed they tried to destroy them in a fury. But all efforts failed. The statues were unbreakable.

Liu Erlong, upon hearing the news, also ordered her academy students to remove the statues and suppress the rumors. But like the others, she too failed. No matter what they tried, the statues remained, and the ridicule only intensified.

It wasn't the first time something like this had happened. Just weeks ago, Sword Douluo's reputation had collapsed when rumors changed his title to "Pedophile Douluo," making him a running joke across the continent. Now, it was Yu Xiaogang and Tang San's turn.

From nobles to farmers, people lined up just to insult the statues. The public outrage was relentless. Neither Tang San nor his master dared to show their faces in public. They were forced to lie low, unable to face the world that now despised them.

Meanwhile, the one responsible for all this, Eren, lay in bed sipping tea and flipping through a comic book. He was already preparing for Tang Hao's inevitable appearance, expecting the man to try attacking Xīrán in retaliation. Eren wasn't worried. He had already come up with a plan to humiliate Tang Hao on a continent-wide scale. All he needed was for the old man to show himself.

Elsewhere in the house, Xīrán and Xiao Wu were lounging on the floor, crunching on carrots and reading their favorite comic, That Time I Reincarnated as a Paimon and Got Infinite Mora in Douluo but Can't Spend It So I'll Just Lie Down. It had become an obsession. They pestered Eren daily for new chapters.

Eren, watching them, absentmindedly stroked his chin and muttered, "Maybe I should invite Ah Yin to Black Lotus... That might be entertaining. Ahahah."

Xīrán glanced at him in confusion.

He waved it off with a casual smile. "Nothing. Just remembered something funny."

After that, the room went quiet as everyone sank deeper into their comics. Eren turned a page of his own, the title boldly reading: My Car Tire Is Flat and Now I'm Stranded in the Mountains.

Spirit Hall

In the grand hall of the Spirit Temple, Bibi Dong sat upon her throne with a cold, unreadable expression. Her gaze swept over the gathered bishops and her two trusted guards, Yue Guan and Ghost Douluo, Gui Mei.

Bibi Dong: "Have you found the source of the rumors?"

Yue Guan stepped forward, his face tense. "Nothing. It's as if everything happened out of nowhere… even the statues."

Gui Mei shook his head silently in agreement.

Bibi Dong gave a slow nod. Although she had once wanted to publicly defend Yu Xiaogang, she now found herself powerless. The rumors were uncontrollable, and the statues, somehow unbreakable, only made things worse.

Bibi Dong: "Anything else?"

Gui Mei hesitated before speaking. "Yes, Your Majesty. The rumors… seem partially true. People do feel relieved after cursing at the statues."

Her glare silenced him immediately. She didn't respond, nor did she care to comment.

Bibi Dong: "Find out everything. I want results—fast."

Yue Guan and Gui Mei: "Yes, Pope!"

Both vanished from the hall in an instant. Bibi Dong looked down at the bishops, then fell silent, deep in thought.

Later this morning, she appeared in front of one of the statues herself. To her disbelief, a crowd had formed, lined up one after another, taking turns to curse at the statue with delight. After each insult, their faces lit up with satisfaction, some even skipping away cheerfully.

Bibi Dong's expression twitched. For a brief moment, she looked genuinely confused. Then she turned away, said nothing, and returned to her throne to quietly absorb the reverence, or fear, from the bishops around her. Aura farming, in her own way.

Soto City

In another part of the continent, a middle-aged man stood in silence before one of the statues. He was surrounded by others, all cursing loudly and leaving with grins on their faces.

The man remained still. This was the statue of his old friend.

Flander looked on in quiet disbelief. His friend, once buried in obscurity, had finally become famous across the continent, but not in the way anyone expected.

Flander: "I know he wanted the world to remember his name… but this? This is a strange way to do it. Still, I guess… his dream came true."

With a sigh, Flander turned and disappeared into the crowd.

Nuoding Academy

Tang Hao stood alone on the rooftop of the dormitory building, his gaze fixed below.

Through the window, he saw Xīrán inside. His eyes burned with fury.

Tang Hao: "It must be her. No one else could humiliate Tang San like this… but how could she pull off something this widespread? Still…"

He clenched the wooden comb in his hand, Xiao wu comb.

Tang Hao's brows tightened. He still had no idea how that pink girl had managed to get hold of it. But none of that mattered now.

Tang Hao: "I can't let this pass. I'll deal with her myself… teach her a lesson she won't forget."

He turned away from the edge, already planning his next move, one that would let him settle both grudges at once, without revealing his identity
