Chapter 6: Chapter 6 “Echoes of Sacred Choices”
The Balance Breaker is simple: A bug in the Sacred Gear system that is managed by Heaven. How do they know this? Their Guardian is the leader of the Western Youkai Faction…she knows this, and told it to them once they had unlocked their respective Gears.
The male condensed the sound around her, forcing the girl to struggle in place. This move looks similar to what a gravity magic user could do but Hiroki was using the natural sound waves within the training room to make her struggle to move.
With that being done, Hiroki used that sound and sent Kasane flying across the room into the wall.
Thankfully, the wall was reinforced by magic, courtesy of the Youkai who like to really let loose. This is nothing compared to what some of them can do.
The hooded girl groaned as she collided with the wall, thankfully her body was slightly stronger than a normal human so she could expect soreness come tomorrow. Pulling herself from the wall, she growled, "I'm so getting you back for this.
"
"I will be waiting. "
Annoyed, Kasane used the extra equipment laying around and started throwing it at Hiroki. Quite literally, in fact.
Nothing was spared. Dumbbells, deadlift bars, weights, and machines too.
She was throwing anything and everything at Hiroki. Smaller objects he dodged but bigger objects he placed a sound barrier to absorb the impact.
With that, he sent those back at her.
Kasane had the more challenging job of dodging because she couldn't see a majority of his attacks. However, his normal attacks are not that powerful at range.
Sound dissipates at longer distances, causing echoes in large open areas. His best form is oscillation, as that can cause severe bodily harm at the right frequency.
Diffraction, Reflection, and Refraction are much more situational.
Two sound grenades got past her guard just as multiple blades cut into Hiroki. The explosion made Kasane's ears ring while Hiroki was beginning to bleed.
His instincts were saying multiple things but they all had the same undertone. Make her yours.
The two dispelled their Balance Breakers, panting from exertion. They have gotten used to them but it does tax their brains, Kasane more than Hiroki.
Their Sacred Gears have been with them since birth but only awakened due to certain events. "Good fight.
"
The two sat in the center of the training area, seeing how much damage they caused, and to be fair, it wasn't as much as the first time they unlocked their Balance Breaker. There was still a dent in the wall from it, as the best restoration magic could never erase that mess.
Still panting, Kasane rubbed her head, "Same to you…but that was new. "
Smirking, "I had to learn something new to counter your obvious range advantage as you have always held the advantage over me. It's like fighting you wielding a spear, great at a distance but up close, horrible.
"
"Yeah…you being able to use the literal world as your playground isn't fun to fight either…" Kasane then finally noticed red on the floor, "You're bleeding!"
Hiroki smiled at her concern, "Not to worry, my healing factor will cover me. I appreciate the worry, so…do you want to go out on a date this Saturday?"
Kasane blinked, getting utter whiplash at the change in the subject but in the end, she sighed and initiated another kiss, having grabbed him by his jacket. "Baka, I thought you would never ask.
"
Finally. Their secret observer squealed in their mind.
You'd think they wouldn't be this dense and they've kissed plenty of times already!
With that out of the way, the couple cleaned themselves up, together. Despite having seen each other in their birthday suits, they do have respect for each other.
Hiroki only looked into her eyes and above the chest, while she was keeping her gaze above the belt.
Despite their oddities, they are very much attracted to one another. They just have odd ways of showing it.
So, even though Kasane was leaning on Hiroki, who was running a hand down her outer thighs, they were comfortable. His wounds from his favorite person were gone, just minor welts that will go away in less than two hours.
"So, Devils, hmm?" Hiroki could tell from their energy signatures that they were Devils. Multiple groups, in fact.
Kasane also sensed it as soon as they entered the Academy. The barrier is invisible and undetectable to all; unless one was supernaturally aware.
Kasane sighed, "Yes. They will most likely try to recruit us into their peerages.
I'm not joining. "
"I didn't say anything Kasane. I'm not giving up myself either…but that person with that gear…"
"He's in danger. "
Kasane got out of the shared tub, putting a towel around her chest, "So, should we observe him?"
Hiroko followed after her, towel around his waist. "I want to say no but I have a feeling as to what, rather who, his Sacred Gear is.
" Kasane rose an eyebrow at him, waiting for an explanation. "I'll let you guess.
Gotta have fun somehow. "
The psychokinetic user rolled her eyes, "I'm going to bed…you're welcome to join. "
Hiroki paused in drying off, ". .
. I'll see you in a few then…"
". .
. okay…"
The two fell asleep in each other's arms that night, wondering what was going to happen this year.
"Sona, are you going to attempt to recruit them?" Rias asked her best friend and rival, Sona Sitri.
The two were in the Student Council's room, the two playing a match of chess. "I've got my eye on them, and I felt the male would be better as my [Rook] and the female my [Knight].
I still have my eight [Pawn] pieces and I plan to use some of them on my first pick. Also, check.
"
The violet-eyed Kaichou explained her observation of the two newest transfer students. Kasane Randall and Hiroki Kuno.
They both were…interesting to the Heiress of the Sitri Pillar Family. While she and her [Queen] noted that they were at least human or half-human, they were on guard.
