-boom!-
The impact of our clash shook the stadium as our fists collided.
It was like we were testing the waters of our little spar.
That's right, we were only getting started.
-wham!-
Vali's head snapped back at my well-timed punch that sent him skidding back a few feet before catching his footing.
Behind him, eight prismatic wings arched with each feather of light shimmering. This was his Longinus-tier [Sacred Gear] [Divine Dividing] at play that enabled him to fly, to divide the opponent's power every 10 seconds, and to add that halved power to himself.
Apparantly, Albion learned [Divide] while fighting Ddraig, as it was just an offshoot of Albion's original ability of [Reduce], which was a unique blend of venom that is capable of reducing the existence of all organic matter, including Gods, cutting their souls to bite-size in a matter of time.
---Yeah, standard stuff, not broken at all, I know.
"I like the sound of that hit!" I chuckled as I cracked my knuckles, the echo of bone settling in my ears.
"Alright, Vali-boy. Be prepared--- 'cuz in this little spar of ours, I'm only gonna use this Sacred Gear I tinkered with rii-iight here."
Hearing this, Vali's lip curled upward. "Alright. But don't make any excuses when you lose."
I laughed, brushing phantom dust off my sleeves. "If you say so!"
"I do." Vali replied, stoic as ever.
[DIVIDE!]
I felt some of my strength leave as I landed a blow on Vali's shoulder
-swish!-
In less than a split second, our bodies blurred across the arena: fist against palm, elbow against knee.
I gotta say, for a pretty-boy whose main focus should be magic, the dude's strength and combat experience wasn't just on point, it was amazing. Impeccable, even.
[DIVIDE!]
-wham!-
A palm strike to my ribs left me winded as Vali vanished into a blur, darting around the arena.
[DIVIDE!]
-wham!-
A spinning elbow snapped against my jaw, if he was faster and I was slower then, well, it's crazier now.
[DIVIDE!]
-wham!-
A hook to the chin sent me sliding across the cracked marble.
Man, this guy really doesn't do things easily, huh?
But hey, with my physique, if I don't push myself, then I'll start to stagnate, so it's all okay with me.
From the sidelines, casual observations entered my ears as the other members of Team Vali couldn't realize why I was taking all of these hits.

"It looks like he's waiting for an opportune moment..." Arthur leaned on his [Excalibur Ruler] as he spoke.
"So he's not out yet, right?" Bikou asked, nibbling on a Pocky-stick. "Then it's all good, as long as the fun doesn't end so soon."
Le Fay furrowed her brows as she put a finger to her chin. "Kuroka-san, what's Daichi planning? I can see a large amount of energy continuously rising in Daichi..."
"He's gonna start showing off soon~" Kuroka lounged on a floating cushion with her tails flicking with amusement. "So as for right now, it seems like everything is going exactly as planned, nya~."
Arthur frowned. "Planned?" Arthur raised an eyebrow at Kuroka's words.
Seeing this, Kuroka just grinned in reply. "Just watch."
-dxd-
As I slowly rose, I felt my wounds knit and close as underneath the adrenaline, the familiar hum of my Spirit Organ resonated with the [Sacred Gear] I'd forged and nurtured.
[Divide!]
"I don't know what you're trying to do, but it seems interesting, so I won't stop-!!!" Vali charged once more, with his wings of light blurred.
[Divide]
We continued to exchange blows as Vali alternated between using [Divide] and gobbling up my fading strength, but even then, it was returning just as fast.
That being said, I still couldn't take it too easy... Not yet, at the very least.
After all, this same ability took Kokabiel from having power equivalent of [Satan-Class] to a measly [Mid-Class] being with a few uses of [Divide].
But this... This was like death by a thousand divisions.
Ten seconds, one after the other.
[Divide!]
But now was when our next exchanges became a test of wills.
-thwack!-
My front kick to his solar plexus sent him skidding back.
I closed the distance and pulled him over my shoulder, performing a judo throw that pulverized the stone beneath us.
-wham!-
Vali recovered quickly, shooting up from the ground as his knee rocketed towards my temple, crashing into my skull with full force.
Not letting it slide, I grabbed his leg before he flew into the air, and slammed him down repeatedly.
-wham!-
-wham!-
-wham!-
Vali eventually escaped my grasp with a well-placed magic blast that sent me flying, and we both landed gracefully on the ruined ground.
"It's time," I said. "I'm pulling it out now.
Vali nodded. "I see. So it's finally happening."
"Yes," I sighed before drawing a breath through my busted lips. "Took a while, but I've gotten up and it's ready to go now."
Vali's smirked. "Glad to hear it."
I could tell that he felt it too. That my aura no longer resembled the typical Daichi, and that it was now bringing forth something new.
That [Sacred Gear] that I'd modified with two [Twice Criticals] stirring from who-knows-how-long a period of dormancy.
And then I heard it--- A whisper of destiny:
[Now... I... Have.... Awaken...]
Tendrils of wind swirled dust in a vortex as the natural light shining down in the coliseum flickered faintly.
[Prowling... The Labyrinth... Until I... Am Vanquished...]
'Think of something close to you, something you can draw power by doing it, and bring it into reality with your actions...' I told myself as I attempted to see what fruits my toiling away with the Sacred Gears would bring.
I then raised my arm skyward with my palm open to the heavens and softly spoke.
"I have the power."
-woooom....-
A supernova of blackish-blue light erupted from my chest, scorching the air and cracking the coliseum walls as everyone was bathed in the aura.
Vali landed beside me with a gaze that said that things were only getting started.
"I waited to let you do your transformation, so don't let me down, Daichi."
"You don't have to worry about that, Vali." My lips curved into a grin that split my face.
Mana surged through the Grigori coliseum like a wild beast off its leash, and the culprit of such a display was none other than the two of us standing in the middle of it.
I stood amidst the craters and dust, my chest rising and falling, muscles twitching, and sweat sizzling as it rolled down my arms.
---Seems like I had to work out some first-time-use type of kinks.
'Ah, well, whatever. The first time is always an awkward one...'
And above me, Vali slowly floated into the air like some kind of Boss character in a game.
I could hear his laughter echo through the stone arena, the kind of laughter you really only hear from a guy who enjoyed fighting as much as he did.
"Round Two," I said, my voice low and slow. "Let me show you my moves."
-dxd-
Vali smirked as with a beat of those wings, he soared higher, climbing the inner sky of the underground dome. Beneath his feet, glowing magic circles lit up, ready to launch magic in my direction
Le Fay tilted her head as her cloak fluttered. "What's he planning now?"
Kuroka, lounging like a queen on a cloud conjured from pure smugness, giggled with a flick of her tail. "Just watch, nya~. Daichi's gonna show you guys something new."
The coliseum trembled.
-Brrrrrrrr-!!!-
From the rings above, a downpour of destruction rained upon me, magic blasts that were dangerous enough to erase any lesser man
And I just stood there with my heart beating like a drum with my fists clenched as I gave a slow exhale.
The rain of magic shattered against me, dispersed into harmless dust, or reversed back into raw particles as I tanked it all while standing in place as the arena floor exploded into a cloud of smoke.
And when it cleared...
---I stood there.
Atop my head were two bluish-black energy horns protruding like I was some kind of demonic bull. They flickered and sparked with untamed power, the very concept of momentum, regeneration, and strengthening forged into shape.
Vali landed nearby, eyes wide, lips curled into a grin of recognition. "Well, well. I see them now."
I touched the horns and I felt my fingers tingle as they gave a low hum.
They were alive.
"These horns…" Vali muttered. "They're increasing your power...
(That's odd, and why do I feel a faint dragon aura from that kid, Vali...?) A dragonic voiced echoed from where I assumed to be Vali's direction.
Naturally, it was none other than Albion, The Butt--- Ahem, the other Heavenly Dragon.
"Oh, that? It's just me playing around with a few [Twice Criticals]. Neat, huh?"
They're another result of my tinkering with the [Twice Criticals] I took from Raynare. It steadily raised my power, and slowly restore every ounce of power Vali halved with [Divide]…
Vali's eyes sharpened. That got his attention.
(A tinkerer, eh? That's nice, but I doubt that will be all to handle Vali in a spar!)
"Oh, I know, I know..."
Reaching for one horn, I effortlessly pulled it loose. It slipped free with a satisfying crackle, reshaping in my hand into a tomahawk-like weapon that was sleek, and as dark as midnight.
It was edgy as hell, but I wasn't about to complain one bit, I tell ya.
"The creature sealed inside... It's a minotaur... " I said. "And as for this [Sacred Gear], I think I'll name it [Chaos Labyrinth Crown]"
(A Minotaur... This one doesn't feel like the rest of those creatures... Could the one sealed inside possibly be from the Greek Mythology...?) Albion asked.
But as for Vali, he had a slightly different reason for his surprise.
"...It's a bit ironic, though. Don't you like drinking and eating Minotaur meat with Old Man Azazel?" Vali raised an eyebrow. "And why do you name it like that?"
"Four things." I began.
"One, Hell if I know. Two, I do, but this and that are two completely different things." I nodded. "Three, I don't wanna hear that from someone like you..."
"And Four.... As for why did I name it so..."
Before I finished, I hurled the tomahawk.
"Well, because of this, I think."
-zip!-
It vanished, literally blinking out of existence for a moment, to where even I barely tracked it.
Vali twisted in midair, reflexes honed through hundreds of battles, yet...
-slash!-
A red line bloomed across his coat, slicing it open as a trickle of blood ran down his ribs.
Even though he had dodged, it clearly landed a clean hit on him.
Vali looked down at the wound, then grinned. "Distance?"
"Yeah, something like that." I confirmed. "This coliseum's like my very own labyrinth… so I kinda feel like I can sense where everything is, y'know?"
Simply put, the concept of proximity and pressure. The closer I get, the harder I hit. The further I throw, the faster it moves.
Not to mention that when I really focus, I could feel everything in this room we're in... Every single person and thing down to the tiniest speck of dust around these parts.
Vali's smile widened. "Now that's what I'm talking about."
[Divide!]
"I'm just getting started!" I yelled as I pulled out the other horn, pulling out a jagged and pointy spear as the air around it warped slightly as I held it.
[Divide!]
Vali leapt high, wings slicing through the air, and I followed with a beat of mana-enhanced legs, leaping faster than a missile.
Pouring my magic into the surroundings, I snapped my fingers as dozens of Light Spears exploded into existence mid-air, homing in on Vali like supernatural heat-seeking missiles.
He spun, slashing them apart, and dividing them one after another, but the swarm adapted, looping back like heat-seeking drones.
Vali began to sweat. "Persistent, huh?"
"Well, I'm really excited to try out my new toys." I said, and then closed the distance.
Our weapons met, my spear against his hands that were drenched in a pulsating magical energy that gave him strength.
As we got into a brief game of push and pull, I eventually caught him under the ribs with a spin of my spear, using the shaft to slam him down into the ground once more.
-crash!-
Stone shattered, and the shockwave cracked the arena walls as Vali, inside a semi-broken barrier, coughed up some blood as he laughed, his head comically poking out from the crater. "This isn't bad at all."
I walked to the edge of the pit and extended a hand. "Up you go, Butt Dragon."
(Don't call me that!) Albion roared.
"Don't call me that." His eyes twitched as he grabbed my hand and yanked himself up. "Let's go again. One more round?"
(One more round! I want to see how your [Sacred Gear] works, boy!)
"One more round, then."
The air shimmered between us as our energies collided once again.
We charged again at each other like two forces of nature destined to collide until the world cracked and shattered beneath our feet.
I'm pretty sure I'm forgetting something, but I'll be damned if this wasn't one hell of a day.
