Knock knock knock.

A series of quick knocks echoed through the entryway. All three of them—seated on the living room couch—looked toward the front door at the same time.

Bokue gave the girls a small downward wave with his hand.

"Stay here. I'll check it out."

He stood and headed for the door. As he approached, a muffled male voice filtered through the heavy metal security door.

"Hello? Anyone home?"

…That phrasing.

Bokue raised a brow, immediately shooting a side glance toward Yukina, who was still seated and giving him the exact same suspicious look.

Still, he didn't say anything. He grabbed the handle and pulled the door open.

As expected, standing out in the hallway was a delivery guy in a standard work uniform.

"Oh, someone is home. Finally."

He grumbled with a hint of annoyance before handing over the neatly prepared package in his arms.

"This is for Yukina Himeragi. Please sign here."

"Thanks…" Bokue took the parcel with a polite nod.

No small talk. No nonsense. The delivery guy turned around and left as soon as the exchange was done.

Bokue shut the door and turned back toward the living room—specifically, toward Yukina—who was now giving him the most innocent, blank stare.

He stared back at her, suspicious.

She… evolved? Just a few days ago, this girl was basically a cavewoman when it came to tech. Now she was online shopping?

"What's that?" Yukina asked curiously.

Bokue glanced down at the package in his hands, then back up at the sword shaman on the couch—who had the expression of someone who'd never used a keyboard in her life.

He slowly raised a brow.

"You seriously don't know what you ordered?"

"I… huh?" Yukina blinked, stunned. Then she did something that defied all expectations—

She started counting on her fingers.

"Okay, I bought… uhm… wait, did I forget something back at the shopping center? Maybe they delivered it?"

Nope...

Bokue nearly sighed aloud. She still hasn't figured out how to order things online.

So then what the hell was in this box?

"I'll open it."

Just to be safe, Bokue gave the package a quick squeeze—thin, soft, fabric-like. Clothes, probably.

He tore through the black outer layer and pulled out a clear plastic-wrapped outfit inside—

A formal dress.

Taped to the front was a small sizing card that looked almost like a gift tag. Bokue gave it a glance and read it aloud.

"Formal banquet gown. Bust 76cm, waist 55, hips 78, C-cup 60… huh. This must be—"

It was as if he'd uttered some forbidden spell.

Before he could even finish the sentence, Yukina shot up from the couch with a thunderous glare. Her Spear—Schneewalzer—flashed into her hands, its cold steel gleaming dangerously in the air.

"Senpai… you idiot!!"

"Huh?"

Too late...

By the time Bokue looked up, Yukina had reversed her grip on her spear and charged in a full-blown lunge, her attack sending a burst of wind pressure through the living room.

She wasn't using the bladed tip, but the handle was still deadly. If that hit him…

Well, Schneewalzer might break.

It was like trying to jab a titanium rod into reinforced concrete—sure, you're not poking with your index finger anymore, but your middle finger's still gonna get wrecked.

With a swift sidestep, Bokue dodged her thrust and grabbed the spear shaft. A quick pull redirected her momentum—and with a startled gasp, Yukina spun twice like a ballerina before landing squarely in his arms.

His scent hit her all at once. Just like that, the fiery-eyed Sword Shaman melted into a docile kitten, her glare gone, her cheeks flushed, and her body perfectly still in his embrace.

"Here. Pretty sure the Lion King Organization sent this just for you."

He shoved the dress into her arms, then helped her stand upright—patting her on the head afterward.

"Don't worry. For your age, your development's honestly impressive. And hey, you're still growing. You've got time."

"…Nnngh." Yukina instantly fell into silence, eyes lowered and face redder than ever.

Was that… a compliment? Probably.

❁❁❁❁

In any case, the dress was secured. Formalwear crisis averted.

Bokue didn't care much about this Dimitrie Vatler guy—but clearly, the Lion King Organization did. If they'd gone out of their way to send a dress, they obviously wanted them to attend the banquet.

And well, when the client makes a request, you can't exactly ghost them.

In the end, the three of them had lunch together at Nagisa's place.

Not because of anything dramatic—just timing. That invitation had thrown off the whole day's schedule. By the time they were ready to cook, it was already past eleven.

Making one lunch for three people was faster than each of them making their own.

Time flew, and before long, lunch was over.

❁❁❁❁

Inside Nagisa's apartment, the living room still carried a faint trace of savory smells.

At the sink, Yukina placed the final washed dish onto the rack. She flicked the water from her hands and turned toward Nagisa, who had just wiped down the stove.

"I'll head back now."

"Mhm. I'm thinking of showering and taking a nap after this."

Nagisa smiled—then tossed a glance toward a certain someone nearby.

"What about you, Big Bro? You not napping?"

"Nah. I don't usually nap. Besides, I've got other stuff to do this afternoon." Bokue nodded and turned to leave, his tone casual but knowing.

"I'm out."

"Oh… okay. I'll head back too then."

Yukina hadn't expected him to leave that quickly. By the time she processed it, he was already gone.

She waved goodbye to Nagisa and followed suit.

But—

The second she stepped out and the door clicked shut—

Bokue appeared in the living room again.

No hesitation. No delay. Like clockwork.

Nagisa didn't even blink. She turned and wrapped him in a full, warm hug—like she'd been waiting for this moment.

Looking up at him with those soft, wine-red eyes, she asked—

"Alright, now tell me the truth. What really happened between you and Yukina-chan?"

"…I'm telling you—nothing." Bokue sighed. Again with this?

Nagisa squinted, still suspicious. "Really nothing?"

"Really nothing."

"…I see."

Could it be that she hadn't been loud enough last night? Maybe Yukina hadn't heard her? Or… maybe she hadn't gone hard enough? She thought for a second—then gently pulled him by the sleeve over to the sofa.

Sitting down, she leaned back, spread her legs, and locked eyes with him. Her pupils glowed a deeper red now, the color matching the blush blooming across her cheeks.

"Then let's fix that. Right here. I want Big Bro to fill me up—again."
