Chapter 88: Chapter 88: It Seems Like We're Becoming More Like Master and Disciple~
"Ais, your talent with the sword is the strongest I've ever seen. You've learned so much in such a short time."
After receiving the system notification, Blake cheerfully walked over to Ais, who was sitting against the city wall, and extended his hand to her.
"This level is still not enough... I'm still far behind you, Blake."
Ais's golden eyes flickered for a moment before she spoke calmly, taking his hand.
"Don't rush. Take it slow. With your talent, it won't be long before you can form a thousand sword Ki at once."
Blake gently pulled Ais up, holding her soft hand seriously.
"Mm."
Ais paused for a moment, then nodded in understanding.
"Blake, your attributes have clearly strengthened a lot compared to yesterday. Even though you're still Level 1, you seem to be on par with me now. I even used magic."
Ais seemed to have remembered something and looked at Blake with anticipation. She couldn't understand how he could be so strong. After all, Level 1 and Level 5 were worlds apart, at least a hundred times different. And she was at the pinnacle of Level 5. Ais couldn't fathom how Blake could be so powerful.
Especially during their last clash—she had gone all out with no reservations. Yet she still felt tremendous pressure, unable to hold her ground. She had to retreat and was even knocked back.
"My physical ability is now comparable to Level 3, and with two unique magics, that's why I'm this strong."
Hearing this, Blake explained in simple terms.
In the earlier battle, he hadn't used his sensory-weakening ability; he fought with his true strength. The enhancement magic, the holy sword, and the doubled amplification from Sword Spirit all contributed to the complete suppression of Ais.
"Magic... I understand."
Upon hearing this, Ais nodded and looked at Blake with a different expression. Unconsciously, Blake had become her goal for progress.
"Don't you want to know what magic it is?"
Seeing that Ais didn't ask, Blake was surprised. Based on Ais' usual personality, she would have asked, but this time, she didn't.
"This is your secret."
Ais said seriously. In the past two days, she had grown quite a lot.
"Well, it's not really a secret. Although Sword Spirit can't be taught to others, the enhancement magic can be. Would you like to learn it? It might help you reach Level 6."
Blake thought for a moment before asking. His reason for helping Ais so selflessly was that he had a high regard for her, and he didn't want her to end up like in the anime, where Revis, that red-haired woman, severely beat her, leaving her near death. Although she eventually succeeded and reached Level 6, it was a deadly struggle.
"I want to learn."
Upon hearing this, Ais' golden eyes flickered, and her delicate hand involuntarily grasped Blake's hand.
"I understand. Well, let's end today's sparring. Although your Desperate has a restoration attribute, it still needs time to recover."
"Let's start magic training now."
Hearing this, Blake smiled and looked at Ais' sword in her right hand, speaking softly.
"...!"
Upon hearing this, Ais was stunned and then noticed a crack in the center of her Desperate's blade. She fell silent. After just a few brief clashes with Excalibur, her sword had ended up like this.
In the following time, Blake patiently taught Ais. After two hours of training in the morning, Ais actually joined Blake and Lili in going to the Dungeon. Their bond continued to grow steadily. Although Ais didn't understand exactly what this feeling was, she just knew that she couldn't resist wanting to be close to Blake—to stay by his side.
This wasn't just because she could observe his sword technique up close, though Ais was still unaware that her abnormal condition was related to this.
Meanwhile, Blake had clearly realized how much the holy sword enhanced his sword skills. If before, with a standard sword, he could only kill a Minotaur by piercing its throat in a single strike, now with the holy sword, he could easily slice the Minotaur in half, even without using enhancement magic or all his strength. Just using the power of an ordinary Level 2 adventurer was enough to kill it instantly.
Moreover, his One Sword to Rule All had been strengthened from simply turning the Minotaur into a porcupine-like creature to using just one sword strike to cleave it in two.
It was clear that whether or not a swordsman had a good sword made all the difference. Blake had fully realized this.
After a day of battles, Blake returned home. Due to Lili's little report, Hestia tearfully hugged Blake, muttering that she had been outdone by some Kenki (Ais), causing Blake to feel a bit amused and helpless.
Though he did indeed have feelings for Ais, for now, their relationship was purely that of a mentor and student.
Hestia and Lili's jealousy was quite strong, and they caused quite a stir before things calmed down.
Then, as usual, he updated his stats. Blake was unsatisfied because his stats had all plateaued around 1700, and the progress was becoming slower and slower.
However, he knew this was normal and simply shook his head, dismissing any distractions. Meanwhile, Hestia, a little concerned, noted that Blake hadn't yet reached his bottleneck. If this continued, leveling up would be much harder since it required significant achievements.
As for the two new magic spells Blake had acquired, Hestia was extremely delighted. However, when she realized that the spell Avenger's Dash was unique to someone, her eyes widened, and tears welled up again. She muttered that she had been fooled by some Kenki, huffing about certain little plans.
It had to be said, Hestia was an emotional goddess—much more so than someone like Soma, who needed to stay at home and looked like a "keep out" sign.
After dealing with the stats update, it was time for their regular visit to the Hostess of Fertility for a meal. During this time, Blake's relationship with Syr and Ryuu improved, and they became good friends.
Although Blake couldn't quite understand what Syr was thinking, as she always smiled like the girl next door, he knew that Ryuu, the usually reserved elf, had accepted him as her friend.
