Chapter 31: 30. The little things in life
Kyoto rightfully bears the title of the cultural capital of Japan. The city has not changed for the most part, giving preference to historical value. Architecture of previous eras, many picturesque places, various ancient buildings and, of course, countless temples and shrines of the gods.
Many tourists come here every year to thoroughly enjoy all the delights of Kyoto, which cannot be covered even in a few days. Not only the Japanese love this place, a huge number of people from abroad come here for excursions and admiring the views. Numerous crowds scurry along the streets of the city every day, and at the most popular attractions of Kyoto you have to wait in lines.
A pair of dragons also arrived in this place for the first time, but did not waste their time exploring interesting places. They were going to do this in three days, when Hitori's class arrived on a school excursion. Even then, in the company of their favorite, the dragons would travel along the streets of the city, but now their path led to a completely different place.
In addition to the human side, the cultural capital has a completely different part. Urakyoto is a separate dimension created for a different part of the population. The mystical inhabitants of Japan, the yokai, populated this new city. Under the leadership of their leader, they live a peaceful life in this place without hiding their essence at all. It was in this part of Kyoto that the dragons decided to spend a few days.
Although the majority of the population are yokai, but in addition to them, you can meet people associated with the mystical world and rare guests from other factions. Therefore, the locals did not react much to the sight of strangers.
Among the natives of Urakyoto of all shapes and sizes, a dark—haired couple walked along the streets of the city. Both of them were dressed in traditional Japanese robes, but, unlike the young man, the women's yukata is not designed for fast movement. Therefore, Ophis assumed her younger form and sat on the left shoulder of her beloved. Holding the girl with his hand, Sai walked from one street stall to another, buying various snacks or souvenirs that interested them.
— Where to now? — the dragon asked, handing over a portion of takoyaki. — Should we continue walking the streets or visit the sights?
— We'd better go to the hotel. It's getting too crowded here.
— I agree.
Silence glanced at the rooftops of the buildings, where guards were bustling about, scurrying everywhere. Their number had only increased in the last few hours, attracting the attention of even ordinary citizens.
As the couple moved toward the hotel, the people on the streets thinned out. After five minutes, it was impossible to see any other passersby. Such oddity did not bother the dragons at all. They calmly moved at their own pace. Even noticing a small procession ahead, clearly waiting for them, Silence did not stop for a second.
— Please give me a little of your attention, — when the distance between them was significantly reduced, the golden-haired kitsune stepped forward, — it will not take long, please.
Silence stopped, looking at the woman who bowed politely. Judging by her fox ears and nine tails, she was the leader of this place. The retinue behind her also bowed their heads in a bow, waiting for their answer.
— Okay, — not seeing any objection on Ophis's face, the dragon agreed. — What do you want?
— If you do not mind, we can go to this teahouse, — the fox pointed to the building on the left, — where we can talk in comfort, as well as enjoy delicious drinks and snacks.
— Lead the way, — hearing about the treat, Ophis immediately agreed.
The Karasu tengu quickly moved to the entrance of the building, obligingly opening the doors for the guests. Inside, a nervous three-tailed kitsune dressed as a servant was waiting to escort the VIPs to the best room. As they sat down on the soft cushions that served as chairs, they were served hot tea and several plates of Japanese sweets.
— Thank you again for agreeing to spend your time with me, — Yasaka bowed her head again. — I am pleased to welcome you to Urakyoto, the home of the western yokai of Japan.
— Enough of this servility, it is annoying. Just tell me what you need.
— Okay, — Kyuubi's gaze became firm as she looked straight at the pair of dragons. — I wanted to know why you are here? And should I expect something bad?
— No. At least, we have no such plans, — the young man answered, while his beloved was enjoying the food. — We are only here for a few days, until our friend arrives. After her arrival, we will remain in the human world, and then leave the city.
— By friend, you mean Hitori Goto?
— Yes.
— Then… — having confirmed her fears, the woman's thoughts raced in search of the right solution. — Then allow me to assign you my faithful servant to accompany you. He will help you in case of problems, orient you to the best places in our city that are inaccessible to ordinary citizens, and will also be able to contact me immediately if you have any questions.
— And, of course, he will also report to you on any of our movements.
— True, — the woman responded calmly when her intentions were pointed out. — As the ruler of this place, I am obliged to know about any dangerous guests on my territory. Especially if they are capable of destroying this place at their whim.
— Good, — Ouroboros intervened in the conversation, having finished with all the snacks. — Just don't let him get in our way.
— Thank you for your understanding. Unfortunately, I have many things that require my personal attention, but you can continue to enjoy the pleasant atmosphere of this place. Of course, tea and snacks are completely free — if such a thing can improve the mood of the Dragon God of Infinity, then Yasaka is ready to pay for the couple's entire three—day banquet. — Please forgive me. All the best.
She will definitely make sure that no idiot dares to touch Ouroboros and those she cares about.

POV Hiratsuka Shizuka
I am a young, pretty and free girl. And, despite all my beauty, for some reason I am not married yet. I do not care much about the question of marriage, but when all my friends have already managed to get married, and parents and other relatives constantly ask the same questions: "when will you find yourself a man?", "we want to babysit grandchildren, well, when will you give them to us?", this topic becomes a sore point.
It's not that I haven't tried to start a relationship, but the time hasn't appeared that long ago. Since childhood, I liked the teaching profession and, following my dream, I spent my school and college years studying, ignoring distractions. Having graduated from the pedagogical faculty and received the long-awaited diploma, I have already celebrated my 23rd birthday.
It's hard sometimes to realize that half of your best years of youth have flown by. Yes, I graduated from a prestigious university and got a diploma, got a job at a good school in Tokyo, but... But I don't have any pleasant memories of high school and university! Only sleepless nights cramming before exams and jealousy from watching couples on joint hikes and get—togethers. The only thing that remained with me was the habit of smoking and drinking at home alone. Whining. And I'm not crying at all, it's just the smoke that hurts my eyes.
Anyway, I took up the position of a Japanese language teacher, as well as a freelance psychologist. The first year, like many newcomers, I had to spend adapting to a new environment, but after two years I became a real teacher.
Helping schoolgirls and rarely guys, because they themselves did not ask for advice, a certain girl came into my field of vision. Looking from the outside, she could be defined by the term "snow maiden". Yukino Yukinoshita came from a rich and influential family, so she had the upbringing of a lady. Beauty, intelligence, good grades and influence — all this made those around her jealous. However, this could not prevent her from making friends if she tried, but Yukino did not do this. The girl preferred to distance herself from others with an insurmountable wall of alienation, remaining a loner.
A desire to help the teenager flared up in me. She doesn't have to change for this, but if she doesn't make a few friends, she'll definitely regret it in the future, so I invited Yukinoshita to my office, where we had a quiet conversation. Having decided on the direction of the conversation, I suggested that she create her own club. Fortunately, she listened to me, and soon the school opened a "Volunteers club". This will allow Yukino to interact more with others, and perhaps find a friend for herself.
With a sense of accomplishment, I continued my daily routine, occasionally visiting the snow maiden, until the literature teacher complained to me. He showed me an essay by a certain student on the topic of school life. I can admit, a slightly cynical and mocking essay, but it was more like a cry from the heart of a teenager — when everything is boiling inside, but there is no one to talk to. When the culprit came to me after school, I was surprised to find a familiar face. Hikigaya Hachiman, a student who got into an accident on the day of admission and spent almost half a year recovering. As a psychologist, I was supposed to talk to him a week after his return. Find out how he managed to adapt to school life. At that moment, he did not show any worries or signs of stress. We chatted happily for several hours, when the topic of anime and manga accidentally slipped into the conversation. It turns out that Hachiman is the same otaku as I am. Sometimes it is nice to freely talk about your interests with a person who understands the topic. Unfortunately, I rarely get to do this.
After another reprimand and time wasted on extraneous conversations, a great idea came to my mind. In an orderly manner, otherwise it does not work with him, the guy is very dodgy, I escorted Hikigaya to the Volunteer Club. Although to different degrees, she and Yukinoshita are similar, so I made him join the club. By spurring their gambling side with competition, I made them interact with each other. I hope they can get along.
My plan paid off very quickly when the hyperactive Yui Yuigahama joined the two loners. The girl immediately overcame Yukino's defense, becoming her friend. The only guy in the club did not stay away either. Although not right away, they gradually established friendly relations with each other. However, from my side, everything did not go as expected as I wanted, because after the first incident, many teachers began to contact me with complaints about one impudent guy, with his eccentric epics instead of the assigned essay topics. Because of this, Hachiman became a fairly frequent guest in my office. Each time after reading the next "masterpiece," a long debriefing awaited him, during which the teenager weakly resisted and tried to challenge my arguments, naturally, unsuccessfully.
I understand perfectly well that a person's view of the world is formed by accumulated experience, and Hachiman's was far from pleasant, judging by the words of the guy himself and his sister. But this does not mean that this subjective opinion is true. Hikigaya himself was well aware of this and even spoke sarcastically about it in conversation, but he still continued to make such notes. Therefore, I had to understand the reason for such behavior. Soon I was able to come to a disappointing conclusion: the reason for everything is Hiratsuka Shizuka ... that is, Hachiman continues to act like this only for the sake of a reprimand, which eventually comes so that we can be alone and talk. I will not say that I am not flattered by such a gesture from the young man, but there are certain difficulties in this.
All this time, I did not stop looking for a boyfriend. Online dating, blind dates or acquaintances of my friends — I tried many options, but, unfortunately, did not achieve a positive result. They either gave up, not getting easy access to my panties, or couldn't stand my character. It's not my fault that my behavior is more like a boy's than theirs. And I'm not going to change and pretend to be someone else — it's more like a fake. As luck would have it, a candidate who fit my criteria appeared in my circle. He cooked well, was clean, not a weakling, our interests mostly coincided and, most importantly, he got along well with my difficult character, but... But why wasn't he born ten years earlier?!
Summer camp, sports festival, cultural festival, best bride contest and the last few days of summer in Okinawa, where, having overindulged in alcohol, I mixed up the beds after a night trip to the toilet and woke up the next morning tightly pressed against him. Now I can admit at least to myself that I have sympathy for Hikigaya Hachiman, but I won't do anything about it. And it's not even about age. Nine years of difference is not such a problem. Many couples live with a clear age difference and nothing happens, but in our case it all comes down to "situation". I am a teacher, and Hikigaya is my student. Even if it is pure true love, but if others find out about the relationship between a student and a teacher, they will be judged. The older partner will bear the brunt of the blow, because he has confused the "stupid child". Apart from public censure, I will be fired in disgrace, and my career as a teacher can be put to rest. No one will hire a person with a black mark.
As much as I like Hachiman, I do not want to ruin my dream. After all, it is not yet known how he will react to such pressure. Maybe the boy will get scared and leave ьу, but I doubt it. He has changed a lot after meeting Silence, he has become more confident, reliable, even more courageous. The new hairstyle definitely suits him. I even managed to notice some interest from his classmates in him, which the teenager simply ignores.
In any case, such a relationship is too risky. It is better to focus on work. We are just planning a school trip to Kyoto for the second years, where I will be able to have fun myself.
