Chapter 33: 32. Heroes, Demons and Dragons
— Everyone, get ready, — Azazel ordered, reading the long-awaited message he had received on his phone. — I'll go down and bring them. Since you yourself wanted to attend this meeting, remember my words. This concerns you first and foremost, Issei. Even Sirzechs' protection won't be able to save you in this case.
— I-I understand, sensei.
While Serafall was solving matters in the mystical part of Kyoto, Azazel decided to negotiate with the two dragons. The meeting place was his room in a hotel with the flashy name "Sirzechs Kyoto". In addition to the owner himself, all the demons participating in the trip had gathered in the room. A stupid and risky decision in the opinion of the fallen one, but the Lords insisted on Hyoudou's presence for his training.
— Welcome to my humble abode, — a voice rang out from the entrance to the room.
— Ha-ha! — If a luxury five-star hotel is modest for you, then I respect your standards.
The owner of the cheerful voice entered the room after the Governor General. Behind the young black-haired youth walked the already well-known Infinity Dragon. Unexpectedly for the demons, another girl their age appeared in the company. Holding Ophis' hand, the pink-haired girl looked around with curiosity.
Before the conversation could begin, the room was flooded with bloodlust.
— If you look at them with your lustful gaze again, I will tear out your eyes and shove them down your throat.
Silence's voiced threat was addressed to the Sekiryutei, who was devouring the guitarist's chest with his gaze. Murderous intent struck the teenager, clearly gifting him with the proximity of death.
— Y-yes! Forgive me!
— At least you understand your place.
— Forgive him, Silence, — the fallen one acted as a peacemaker. — He simply could not help but appreciate the beauty of your companions.
— I did not want to stare at your girlfriend.
— Girlfriend?
— Well, yes? — Hedo said uncertainly. — She is in your harem, right?
— No. Hitori is my flock, — now the dragon bowed his head in misunderstanding. — Who needs a harem at all if he has a favorite girl?
— How?! A harem is every man's dream! I am going to become the king of a harem!
— Ha-ha-ha! Nonsense. A harem is needed only in a few cases. For offspring — like demons, because of their poor fertility. Also, in the event that one partner simply cannot cope with the libido of the other. Then several lovers appear. And for status, — the young man looked mockingly at the teenager. — What type are you?
— Um... I just want to have more, more breasts.
— Ha! A real oppai dragon. What a disgrace to the race.
— Stop insulting him! — the blue—haired girl jumped up from her seat. — Issei is a wonderful guy.
— And who are you? A rather brave, but stupid girl, just like him.
— Rias Gremory's "Knight" and his comrade, — she pointed at the brown-haired man. — You don't know anything about us. Stop saying such things, otherwise I won't leave it like that.
— Oh-oh-oh! What a loud statement, — in response to the dragon's killing intent, the people around him braced themselves. Issei stepped forward, while in his head he counted down the moment until the Balance Breaker would activate. The knights stood on either side of him, and Asia was shaking uncertainly behind him. The student council stood slightly to the side, preparing only to defend themselves. Even Azazel was preparing to stand up for his charges, frantically looking for a way to defuse the situation. — What are you counting on, going against a creature many times stronger than you? Out of your entire group, only Azazel poses a danger to me. — Seeing their tension and feeling fear, the young man grinned even wider. — Maybe I should show you the consequences?
— We should all calm down. There is no need for a fight, — the fallen one's attempt was unsuccessful.
— There will be no fight. I will simply give this foolish fool a lesson.
— Silence... — hearing this plaintively pleading tone and the warmth when he was pulled by the sleeve, the dragon gave in. The pink-haired girl immediately noticed the change in her friend's mood. — Please.
— It seems you are very lucky. I will not do anything only at Hitori's request.
"Have you finished scaring the children yet?"
A completely unfamiliar low voice rang out in the room. Its source was a glove that appeared on the guitarist's hand.
— Vritra?
— That's right, Ddraig, — the dragon answered his fellow sufferer. — It is me.
— Amazing. You managed to restore your consciousness from only a quarter of your soul.
— When you have a dragon god by your side, nothing is impossible, — Vritra waved away the fallen one and focused on one of the blonds. — So you are the one who carries my remaining parts.
— Yes. I am Saji Genshirou, Sona Sitri's pawn.
— That's right. I had the chance to see your performances in the Rating Games. Well done, — the boy's spirit demonstrated greatly impressed the dragon jailer. — If history had turned out differently, we could have become partners when all my parts came together. Unfortunately, such a miracle is not destined to happen.
—...Thank you? — Genshirou was unsure how to react to this.
— Are you finished, old man? — Sai decided to end this awkward atmosphere.
"Yes, you can continue your conversation."
— Azazel, you mentioned that you wanted to return the kidnapped fox.
— Yes, Yasaka's procession was attacked yesterday, and she was kidnapped. She should be somewhere in this city now.
— Then it's clear why our escort wasn't visible today, — he managed to find the answer to the question that interested him. — What made you think that she was still here?
— Kyuubi are very unusual creatures, capable of controlling ley lines. And since everything is fine in Kyoto, she continues to be within this territory.
— Okay. Since I owe you for introducing you to Mephisto, I'll help rescue her. Any guesses as to where they could have hidden her?
— They're currently hiding thirteen kilometers west of here in a separate space.
— Wow! Do you know where they are, Ophis?
— I can sense Cao Cao and Georg next to her.
— Are those the hero leaders from your gang?
— Uh-huh. The only ones besides Vali who really want to fight Red.
— Then let's walk a bit? — the dragon suggested to his companions. — Let's take a tour of Kyoto in the evening.
— Okay.
— Yes.
— Excuse me, — the governor interrupted their sweet atmosphere, — can we join you?
— As long as you don't get in the way. Also, no one is going to protect the kids. Your life is in your hands.
— No problem.
They had everything they needed with them, so it didn't take them more than five minutes to get ready. Halfway to their destination, the group was enveloped in fog, transporting them to the Longinus dimension. Silence looked around, restoring his aura, finding no one near him.
— Ophis asked us not to resist, but what now? — an infinity circle lit up right under him, instantly transporting him to another place. — The Dragon Gate?
— Yes, — Ouroboros answered him calmly, holding her friend's hand. — I have the power to summon any dragon without its consent.
— A terrible ability. It's good that this opportunity is limited for others.
— What are we going to do now? — the guitarist asked.
— Our goal hasn't changed, and what happens to the devils is their problem.
***
Azazel's POV
— What a terrifying mechanism, — I couldn't help but comment as we were suddenly transported to a copy of Kyoto.
The Lost Dimension hasn't been fully explored yet, but even now it can subtly affect someone of my level. If we give it time, the mechanism will soon have enough power to affect gods as well. A dangerous prospect. It's good that Serafall surrounded Kyoto with our forces and youkai, preventing the intruders from escaping.
Throwing aside unnecessary thoughts — now is not the time. I flew into the sky. In some places, traces of skirmishes can be seen. At least I didn't take all the children with me — Sitri's retinue remained to protect the hotel. If Ophis hadn't shown such a positive attitude towards the heroes, then I could have left everything to the discretion of this couple, but they will give up on returning Yasaka after Cao Cao's plans are fulfilled.
Having contacted everyone and confirmed their location, fortunately the connection in this place is not blocked, I approved the meeting place. Along the way, picking up Asia Argento, who was alone, we waited for the others.
— Alright, you're all here, — fortunately, no one was seriously injured, easily dealing with the ordinary hero fighters. — Now we'll go to Nijo Castle, where our targets should be.
— We won't wait for the Ouroboros Company? — the healer asked excitedly.
— No. They'll soon arrive there on their own, — Ophis had already posted a photo of them together from this dimension on her profile. — Now we need to get to the place and determine the situation. If the situation allows, this will be a great chance for you to gain combat experience.
— Are you suggesting that we fight the owners of the Longinus? — Ace of Michael, the only angel among the assembled demons, asked me uncertainly.
— It all depends on the situation. No one is going to pit you against the True Longinus. One hit from this spear would be enough to vaporize a high-level devil. However, there would be others besides Cao Cao, so fighting them would be a different matter.
— Okay! We understand, sensei.
— Don't take too many risks. Remember, I only have two servings of "phoenix tears."
— Yes! Okay!
Entering the castle grounds without hindrance, we saw people standing on some of the buildings, and in the middle of the garden, a dark—haired teenager in Chinese clothing and a beautiful mature woman in a kimono and fox attributes were waiting. The supposed leader of the terrorists watched us approach with a smile.
— This is our first meeting, respected Governor-General of Grigori, Azazel. I am very pleased to meet you. I am Cao Cao, a descendant of that very hero from the Three Kingdoms.
After casting a glance at the others present and briefly lingering on Issei, the young man focused his attention on me.
— I would also be pleased to meet the owner of Father's strongest mechanism, but under different circumstances, Girlfriend he casually tapped his shoulder with the shaft of True Longinus, ready to use it at any moment. — Unfortunately, you kidnapped our potential ally, and we are forced to fix it. By the way, can you tell me why you needed her?
— For the sake of a small experiment, — to my surprise, Cao Cao began to answer my question with a smile. — My boss wants to defeat Great Red, but we don't know much about this creature.
— Are you planning to summon him using Yasaka's connection with the ley lines of Kyoto?
— Very smart, as expected of an ancient angel. Using the dragon gate is too tedious, so we will try to replace it.
— But that's stupid! — he was clearly stalling for time, but I was doing the same, so I can squeeze more information out of him while it's possible. — Even with three longinus, you can't defeat someone of that level. It will only bring unnecessary casualties and destruction!
— Ha! This is just an experiment, as I said. Until we have a Dragon Eater in our hands, it's best to gather as much information about the enemy as possible, — having received a magical message from his companion, he immediately became serious. — However, let's begin. I don't have much time. Leonardo, please demonstrate your strength to the guests.
After hearing the words of the hero leader, a small boy with white hair and dark skin jumped off the roof of the building, landing in the middle of the garden. Instantly, the shadow beneath him expanded and seemed to swirl, summoning dozens and dozens of monsters. No, it would be more correct to say "creating" them.
— The creator of destruction.
— That's right, it's him.
Xenovia raised Durandal to the sky, and a huge amount of aura gushed out from its blade! In an instant, the blade of holy aura expanded to more than fifteen meters, appearing before my eyes. The pulsating spiritual energy was like a pillar of light. It looked like it was about to pierce the heavens. I can see that most of the power is concentrated together.
— Strike first and end the battle. Taste my sword!
Xenovia swung her enormous sword of light, and aura fell upon the heads of the Hero faction. This little fool acted on her own again without thinking. I hadn't even had time to reprimand her for her outburst at the hotel, and she was still acting recklessly. Of course, the thought process of attacking first and taking advantage of the situation was not bad, but we also had to consider the situation we were in.
A colossal amount of aura engulfed everything in the area. The ground split in half, causing an earthquake that made everyone fall to their knees. After the attack, the entire area was in complete ruins. The enormous aura also crossed the moat of Nijou Castle and destroyed even the roads and buildings outside, leaving nothing behind.
A hand appeared from the rubble of the ruins on the ground. A piece of land rose up, and from there, members of the Hero Faction appeared, covered in a thin mist. They all looked slightly dirty, but were completely unharmed. Did this mist completely protect them from the power of the holy sword?
The huge man whose hand appeared first, about two meters tall, loudly cracked his neck. Behind him, Cao Cao tapped his spear on his shoulder. They were not affected by Xenovia's attack at all.
— Ah, not bad at all. — Cao Cao rubbed his chin and laughed. — But are you sure about your decision? Even though we were fine, your attack could have hit someone else.
— Fuck! — At the same time as I realized his plan, a huge aura flared up in the distance behind the heroes. — Xenovia, defend yourself!
The source of the murderous aura was approaching us at high speed, breaking through the ruins and destruction. A figure shrouded in black fog flew into the courtyard after breaking through the outer wall of the castle.
— Damn bitch! — Silence rushed at the girl without slowing down in his hybrid dragon form. He blocked the attack of the former Durandal with his hand, sparks flying from the collision of metal and scaly hand. — Your attack could have harmed Hitori if we hadn't protected her. We should have dealt with you back at the hotel. You're too annoying!
At this dangerous moment, I had to carefully watch every move of the heroes so that they wouldn't take advantage of the opportunity to attack. However, none of their group even tried to act, staring at the two approaching girls. Having confirmed the inaction of the enemy, I again focused on the unfolding fight. The rest of the participants joined the scuffle with Sai.
Irina attacked with light magic from afar, while Kiba, Xenovia and Issei tried to confront the young man in close combat. But he didn't take those around him seriously, purposefully attacking the former churchwoman. The energy projectiles disappeared as soon as they touched the misty shell around the dragon's body, and he easily deflected swords and fists with his wings and tail.
— Gotcha, — the young man said cheerfully, breathing out scorching flames from his mouth. — Ha-ha-ha! I'm a dragon after all, don't forget that.
The situation began to heat up, so I rushed down to stop the massacre, but Issei successfully protected his comrade, only adding more headache.
— I won't let you kill Xenovia! — All his previous attacks had failed, but his hidden trump card had inflicted the long-awaited damage. — Ascalon!
The Sekiryuutei jumped out to intercept his wounded friend, giving Asia the opportunity to heal her burns. During the swing, a blade jumped out of his left gauntlet. Slightly surprised by this, Silence did not stop his blow, but when the name of the blade was announced, it was too late to dodge.
— It hurts! — the young man shouted with a hint of anger and admiration. A deep bleeding wound adorned his forearm. — A dragon mechanism combined with an anti-dragon sword — what nonsense.
— Silence! — Hitori called out to him in fear when she saw the flowing blood. Ophis next to her remained silent, but a gloomy expression appeared on the Dragon God's face, which in itself was alarming.
— Don't worry about it! — With just the tension of his muscles, he stopped the bleeding in order to use his personal healing magic. Slowly, the flesh tightened, despite the anti-dragon attribute of the weapon that had injured him. — I was in much worse condition during the fight with Crom. However, I did not expect such a sword.
— This has gone too far, — I stood between the dragon and my students to prevent further fighting. — We should stop here. Xenovia acted thoughtlessly, so I apologize for that. About your injury — Issei protected his comrade after your breath.
Sai looked at me with narrowed eyes. After a long stare, he looked at the teenagers ready to continue the fight, turned his attention to his companions and relaxed with a cheerful smile, leaving the battle mode.
— Okay. I have no more complaints about the girl, but I want this sword.
I already guessed from his first reaction that the young man would be interested in Ascalon. Having given a sign, I managed to shut up the demons who tried to object.
— There are some complications with this. Although the sword was given to Issei, it is still considered a treasure of the Heavens, and it is impossible to transfer it without their consent.
— Too bad.
Too easy. A suspicion flared up inside me. I didn't believe that Silence, with his character, would back down so easily. And my bad feeling came true when cries of surprise and then pain were heard from behind.
— Just because I forgave her doesn't mean Ophis let go of her grudge.
As he spoke, the snake, ignoring the attacks, chewed on the blue—haired girl, each time sinking its sharp fangs into her body. Even my light spears didn't cause any visible damage to this creature until it simply dissolved, leaving a mangled corpse on the ground.
— Xenovia! — The girl's body was surrounded by her comrades, trying to somehow help, but it was too late. — Aaaaaaaa!!! I won't forgive!
— Ha-ha-ha! It seems to be getting fun.
Ignoring the amused dragon, I instantly appeared behind Issei, knocking the guy out with a powerful blow. We can't let him give in to his emotions and go into Juggernaut Drive. It will cost Hyodo his life.
— Hmm, and I wanted to see his rampage up close. Although his life would only last for a few seconds in such a state.
— How can you! — Irina rushed to the attack with tears of pain. — I will avenge my friend!
— No! That's it! — Despite Sai's disappointed face, I knocked the girl out. Irina's feathers were already starting to darken, but we can't let the Ace of Michael fall. — Kiba, take Irina, and I will deal with Issei and... Xenovia. Our journey is over. I will wait for Yasaka in my hotel room.
— No problem. The fox will soon be in your bedroom.
