Dxd: The Primordial Judge

Chapter 18: Saviours!

"Don't you have more pressing matters to attend to in Heaven?" The calm yet firm voice of Neuvillette echoed throughout the serene environment of his Office. He looked up, spotting Gabriel shifting in her seat, twirling her luscious golden hair.

Neuvillette had been reviewing another stack of documents when Gabriel had arrived not too long ago, for her 4th visit in just as many days, with no other goal than to just chat and 'hang out.'

Meanwhile, Gabriel, who had been absentmindedly relaxing on the chair, pouted at his words, leaning forward to rest her elbows on the table. Her radiant wings twitched slightly, catching the dim glow of the enchanted lamps illuminating the office.

"Must you always be so cold with me, Neuvillette?" she sighed dramatically. "Can't I simply enjoy the company of my dearest friend?"

Neuvillette exhaled softly, setting down the document he was holding, "You are an Archangel, Gabriel. Your responsibilities are vast, and Heaven is not without its own problems. Surely your time would be better spent tending to your duties."

Gabriel huffed, crossing her arms as she spoke, "Don't worry about up there, Michael can handle things, I mostly just laze around anyway. Besides, we have decades of catching up to do."

Neuvillette just observed her, his expression unreadable. He had known Gabriel for centuries, long enough to recognize when she was being playfully stubborn.

~KNOCK!~KNOCK!~

Before he could respond, a firm knock echoed through the room. A moment later, the grand doors swung open, revealing Alfred. The advisor's usually composed expression was tinged with an air of urgency, and Neuvillette immediately straightened in his chair.

"My Lord," Alfred began, his tone grave, "An incident has occurred in Kuoh Town."

"What kind of incident?" Neuvillette asked, packing up his files as he paid full attention to Alfred.

Alfred stepped further into the room, clasping his hands behind his back as he spoke. "A Fallen Angel has killed a human."

Silence.

Neuvillette's gaze remained impassive, but the weight of the words hung in the air like a storm cloud waiting to burst.

"A human?" Gabriel repeated, her voice suddenly tense, "And this was allowed to happen?"

Alfred continued, "The human was resurrected. Turned into a devil."

Neuvillette's eyes sharpened slightly at that revelation, "I assume the Gremory heiress was responsible?"

Alfred nodded. "It would appear so. Rias Gremory has reincarnated the deceased human into her peerage. The Fallen Angels in the region have been eliminating stray devils and low-tier supernatural entities, but this is the first instance of a direct human casualty. It suggests a shift in their movements. From the reports of our scouts, the Human had a Sacred Gear, so maybe they felt threatened."

Gabriel stood up abruptly, her wings flaring slightly in agitation, "This cannot stand. We must intervene at once. The killing of innocent humans can't occur, the Supernatural World is still reeling from the 'incidents.'"

"What about the Fallen Angles? Have the Gremory and Sitri heiresses attempted to catch and deal with them?" Neuvillette just asked patiently.

"Not exactly. According to our scouts, the Fallen Angles are hiding out in a Church and seem to be waiting for something." Alfred explained.

Neuvillette remained silent for a couple moments, deep in thought before he spoke, "Send Aerith in to..."

"NO!" Gabriel suddenly shouted, "Don't send that crazy woman in. She'll probably spend more time seducing and toying with the Fallen Angles than bringing them to justice."

Neuvillette just sighed, rubbing his eyes as he saw that Gabriel's views on Aerith hadn't changed despite all the time passing, "So, what do you propose to do?"

"Lets go together, with the two of us, what can't we solve?" Gabriel said.

"The Leader of the Fatui and One of the Four Great Seraphim is the exact opposite of lowkey. The second we step foot there, everyone will be alarmed." Neuvillette spoke.

"Who said we need to go officially. We'll simply go incognito pretending to be regular Humans and investigate." Gabriel responded.

Neuvillette just sighed, knowing Gabriel won't back down from this, "We'll go first thing tomorrow."

Meanwhile, over in Kuoh Town, four figures lounged admist the ruined environment of the town's abandoned church, their eyes gleaming with amusement and cruelty as they ignored the rusty and beaten down environment.

Raynare sat at the alter, dressed in her usual darn ensemble as she spoke, "That was almost too easy guys. That pathetic dork really thought he was actually my boyfriend, you should've seen the look on his face as he died."

Dohnaseek, the tallest among them, let out a low chuckle. His dark trench coat barely moved as he leaned against a broken column, arms crossed, "Humans are always so foolish. He thought with his desire instead of his brain. Classic, how could that idiot think someone beautiful like you would be into him."

Kalawarna, the more composed of the group, adjusted her glasses with a smirk, her ample figure wrapped in a tight, dark outfit that emphasized her sultry demeanor, "You do have a way with words, Raynare. The boy never even suspected a thing. I almost feel sorry for him. Almost."

Mittelt, the smallest yet arguably the most sadistic of the bunch, grinned from her perch on one of the broken pews, swinging her legs back and forth, "Imagine him begging for his life. 'P-please, Y-Yuuma-chan! I thought you liked me!' Hah! I wish I could hear that, it would be music to my ears." She cackled, hugging herself in amusement.

Raynare chuckled darkly, "It certainly would've been amusing. But more importantly, one less obstacle in our way. He had a Sacred Gear, one with potential, and we all know how dangerous those can be. The last thing we need is another one of those running around unchecked."

Kalawarna stretched her arms above her head, sighing, "Speaking of which… I assume you all remember our next little guest?"

Raynare's smirk widened as she leaned against the pulpit, her violet eyes glowing ominously, "Oh, of course. Asia Argento… the naïve, kind-hearted little saint with the power of Twilight Healing."

Dohnaseek snorted, "An exiled holy sister, carrying one of the most valuable Sacred Gears in existence, and she's just walking into our hands. How fortunate."

Mittelt giggled, clasping her hands together mockingly. "Poor little Asia, cast out from her precious Church for 'heresy.' And now she's coming to us, thinking we'll be her new family." Her voice dripped with venomous glee, "These idiots are so gullible."

Raynare tilted her head, tapping her fingers against the wood of the pulpit, "We'll play nice, for now. Let her think she's safe, that she's found people who care. She's so desperate for acceptance that she'll believe whatever we tell her. And once she's given us her power…"

Her wings spread out slightly, casting eerie shadows against the ruined walls.

"Then she'll be discarded like the trash she is."

Kalawarna smirked, her violet eyes gleaming. "What do you plan to do with her after we take her Sacred Gear? I assume you won't be as 'merciful' as you were with that Issei boy?"

Raynare's smile widened, though it lacked any warmth, "I haven't decided yet. Maybe I'll let her linger, watch her realize that the people she trusted were the ones who destroyed her. Maybe I'll let her beg for her life before I carve the light right out of her."

Mittelt giggled, kicking her feet playfully, "I call dibs on playing with her first. She looks like she'd cry so beautifully."

Dohnaseek simply shrugged, unconcerned. "Do as you like, as long as we get what we came for. Twilight Healing will be a valuable asset for us, and once it's in our hands, we'll finally be able to move forward with our plans."

Raynare nodded, pushing off the pulpit and walking towards the center of the room, her boots clicking against the floor, "She arrives soon. I want everything to go perfectly. We'll greet her like long-lost friends, show her kindness, and when the time is right…"

She let the feather in her fingers drop, watching as it twirled down to the floor.

"We'll remind her that we are no saviors."
