"No way!"
"How could this happen?!"
"How could Silence lose?!" Valletta stared in disbelief at the distant spectacle, her voice filled with anguish.
The other dark faction members in the command center remained silent, equally shocked by Alfia's defeat.
Valletta's cries of disbelief echoed through the room.
After a while, she regained her composure, and silence returned to the command center.
"Release the monsters," she ordered, her voice cold and hard.
"You mean…the ones we brought from the deep floors?" one of her subordinates asked, surprised.
For this decisive battle, the dark faction had made extensive preparations.
Besides the monsters they had gathered from the surface, they had a hidden trump card: monsters captured from the dungeon's deep floors.
The average level of these deep-level monsters was a staggering 4.
While this only reflected their base stats, not their true combat power, unleashing them upon Orario would be devastating.
"Yes. Release them all."
"All of them?!" the subordinate exclaimed.
"But we don't have enough tamers to control them!"
"Then don't bother controlling them," Valletta sneered.
"Have those expendable fools lead them to the city center. I want to see how Finn handles that."
"Yes, ma'am!" The subordinate rushed off to relay her orders.
"What will happen next?" Valletta murmured.
Once these monsters were unleashed, they had no other options.
This was their last gambit.
"You must win, Zald," she whispered, clenching her fists.
...
"Clang!"
"Clang!"
"Clang!"
The Sounds of Zald and Ottar's clashing weapons echoed through Orario.
Finn, listening to the distant battle, smiled slightly.
"We've finally turned the tide." The distant glow of fire illuminated the city.
Although he couldn't see it directly, he knew the area around their duel must have been devastated.
But even so, he couldn't help but feel a surge of hope.
Mika's victory meant Alfia's defeat.
One of the seemingly insurmountable obstacles had been overcome.
"Now, it all depends on Mika's condition. If he's still capable of fighting, he could be the deciding factor in Ottar and Zald's duel."
According to the reports, their battle was intensifying, their powers escalating.
Ottar had been knocked down multiple times, but he always got back up, his fighting spirit unwavering.
As their power increased, Allen, who had been providing support, was no longer able to participate.
He had joined the fray against the dark faction, his anger fueling his attacks.
...
"Captain!" Raul, a new recruit tasked with relaying messages, rushed over. "The team that accompanied Lady Airmid has returned."
"What's the report?" Finn asked urgently.
After receiving Gabriel's telepathic message, Airmid rushed to Mika's side.
To assess the situation and adjust their strategy accordingly, Finn sent several Loki Familia members with them to relay information.
"According to the report, the Inferno Blaze Emperor has fallen unconscious due to mental exhaustion. He's unable to continue fighting."
"I see. That's…not the worst outcome." Finn breathed a sigh of relief.
Given the level difference between Mika and Alfia, he had feared a pyrrhic victory, leaving Mika with lasting injuries.
However, mental exhaustion was manageable.
After all, Orario's forces seemed to be holding their own against the dark faction.
In the distance, Ottar and Zald's battle raged on.
Even if Ottar couldn't defeat him, Zald's threat would diminish over time.
As for the dungeon, angered by the surge of divine power during the Divine Return, Juggernaut had emerged from the deep floors.
It has strength comparable to a deep-level Floor Boss—a Level 6.
However, considering its unique nature as a creature born from the dungeon's wrath, its true power likely surpassed that of a typical Level 6 Irregular.
It would continue ascending, aiming to destroy Babel Tower and emerge onto the surface.
However, Orario had also sent a powerful force into the dungeon: an elite team led by Riveria and Gareth.
Riveria and Gareth, now both Level 6, were Orario's strongest mage and strongest shield, respectively.
With Mia Grand, having retired, Gareth was the only Level 6 dwarf in Orario.
And Riveria, the only pure mage among the Level 6 adventurers, and an elf royalty, possessed unparalleled destructive power.
Their combined strength, along with the Level 4 members of the Astraea Familia, would be enough to hold off the Juggernaut, even if they couldn't defeat it.
After all, with sufficient supplies, adventurers rarely suffered from exhaustion.
And thanks to Airmid's healing magic, they had conserved their potions during the surface battles.
Orario's Familias had ample reserves.
Finn had been preparing for this decisive battle long before learning of Zald and Alfia's presence.
And such preparations naturally included stockpiling supplies.
...
"I've secretly amassed enough supplies to keep all of Orario's adventurers fighting for a week."
"As long as Babel Tower stands, the dark faction cannot win." He bit his thumb, a nervous habit. This battle wasn't just about tonight.
"Whether it's Zald's duel with Ottar, the situation in the dungeon, or the battles within Orario, we have the advantage everywhere. Logically, victory should be ours. So why does my thumb still ache? Do they have another trick up their sleeve?" He frowned, lost in thought.
"Captain, it's terrible!" Anakitty rushed over.
"What happened?"
"Monsters! Hordes of monsters are heading towards Babel Tower, led by the dark faction! Our vanguard engaged them, but they were almost completely wiped out! The reports suggest these monsters are from the deep floors!"
"Deep floors?!" Finn exclaimed in shock. Few Familias in Orario could even reach the deep floors. Those monsters were a nightmare for the vast majority of adventurers, whose levels were below 4.
"Airmid! Has Airmid returned yet?!" He quickly assessed the situation.
"She's…in the sky! On Mellie's dragon!" several voices called out.
Finn looked up and saw Fufu. "The Yahweh Familia…just in time."
…
High Above Orario.
Airmid, Mellie, and Yahweh rode on Fufu's back, heading towards Babel Tower. Beside them, Mika lay unconscious.
"I didn't expect his battle with Alfia to end like this…" Airmid and Mellie had learned the details from Gabriel.
"This wasn't part of the plan…" Mellie muttered. Based on the intel they had gathered, her strategy had been for Mika to rely on his superior defenses and wear Alfia down.
According to Finn, both Alfia and Zald had a crucial weakness: Time.
Alfia, despite her immense talent, was dying. A terminal illness since birth had become her skill after she joined the Hera Familia and received Falna. This passive skill prevented her from leveling up beyond 7.
Otherwise, she might have been the one to slay the Black Dragon. Her battle with the dragon had pushed her body to its limits, leaving her with permanent injuries.
From that point on, her life had been slowly fading, accelerated by every battle. If not for this, she alone could have sustained the entire Hera Familia.
As for Zald, he, too, was dying. In Orario, there were three great quests for adventurers: to slay the Leviathan, the Behemoth, and the One-Eyed Black Dragon.
The Hera Familia had defeated the Leviathan, while the Zeus Familia had slain the Behemoth. However, that victory had come at a great cost.
Zald, using his unique skill that allowed him to absorb the power of those he consumed, had devoured the Behemoth, turning the tide of the battle and securing victory for the Zeus Familia. However, the Behemoth was highly poisonous.
Consuming its flesh had poisoned Zald, leaving him in constant agony and unable to fight for extended periods.
...
Therefore, Mellie's strategy had been for Mika to outlast Alfia.
However, he had chosen a different path, unleashing his full power and defeating her in a direct confrontation.
"He's so reckless…" Mellie muttered, looking at the unconscious Mika.
"But that's what we love about him, isn't it?" Airmid replied with a smile, gently stroking his forehead.
Mellie smiled.
Indeed, it was his recklessness that made him so endearing.
"While I hate to interrupt this touching moment," Yahweh said, "Isn't something happening below?"
They looked down and saw monsters swarming through the streets towards Babel Tower, driven by the dark faction.
"Damn it! Those are deep-level monsters!" Mellie exclaimed, recognizing them instantly. She had fought them before.
"Faster, Fufu!"
"They're targeting Babel Tower! This must be their final gambit!" Yahweh said grimly.
"Hurry! They need us at Babel Tower!" Airmid urged.
Fufu surged towards Babel Tower.
…
"All teams, return to the plaza! Tighten your formations!" Finn, seeing Fufu approaching, issued his commands.
Facing such powerful monsters, the ordinary adventurers couldn't afford to be scattered.
He had recalled everyone because of Airmid.
With her Shared Burden skill, they could distribute the damage among themselves and rely on their superior numbers to overwhelm the monsters.
"If only Airmid were a member of the Loki Familia…" he mused, watching as she and Mellie descended.
