"Saori Kido, I won't forgive you or Mitsumasa Kido!" Ikki declared, his voice flat, yet filled with a chilling intensity that even Mika could sense.
Saori lowered her head, clearly affected by his words, a flicker of guilt in her eyes. She knew what Ikki had endured.
"How dare you speak to Miss Saori like that?!" Tokumaru, who had rushed to Saori's side after Ikki's appearance, shouted indignantly.
Mika shook his head slightly.
He knew Ikki harbored a deep resentment towards Tokumaru as well—perhaps even more so than towards Saori.
Whenever Mika and Saori had their private conversations, Tokumaru was always left waiting outside. After all, their discussions weren't meant for other ears.
He hadn't been present during Ikki's initial appearance and shouldn't have been a target. But now, having inserted himself into the situation—he was practically asking for trouble.
Ikki's brow furrowed as he saw Tokumaru. His voice, no longer calm, dripped with venom.
"Tokumaru, I'll repay you for what you did. Just you wait."
"H-he actually survived Death Queen Island..." Tokumaru murmured, his face pale.
Mika smirked, unwilling to get involved in their personal feud. It was Tokumaru's own fault, after all. Due to their earlier conflict, he had severely beaten Ikki the night before sending him to Death Queen Island, leaving him badly injured.
Given the island's dangers—Tokumaru's actions were practically attempted murder. Therefore, his surprise at Ikki's survival was understandable.
Mika, too, had disliked Tokumaru initially. He had always seemed—arrogant, looking down on Seiya and the others.
However, during his time at the Graad Foundation, Tokumaru had always treated him with respect. Therefore, Mika harbored no ill will towards him. He suspected Tokumaru's arrogance stemmed from Seiya and Ikki's status as adopted orphans.
In this era, adopted children—even in wealthy families, were often treated as little more than servants. In Tokumaru's eyes, their status hadn't changed.
Therefore, if Ikki sought revenge, it was Tokumaru's own doing. Mika wouldn't interfere, as long as Ikki didn't target him or Saori.
As for stealing the Gold Cloth? Mika could retrieve it instantly. He had nothing to worry about.
His role was simply to observe, to provide support if needed, and to enjoy the show.
——
Having dealt with Tokumaru verbally, Ikki turned his attention towards Seiya, Shiryu, and the others. Revenge against Tokumaru could wait; after all, he was a Saint, while Tokumaru was just an ordinary human.
His true focus was on those worthy of being his opponents: Seiya, Shiryu, Hyoga, and Shun.
"Who to deal with first? Seiya? Shiryu? Or perhaps—Hyoga?" he mused, a predatory glint in his eyes. Seiya and Shiryu felt a chill run down their spines, sensing his power.
"It's me." Just then, a Bronze Cloth, rising from its container, interrupted Ikki's contemplation.
"Ikki, your opponent is me—The Wolf Saint, Nachi!"
Mitsumasa Kido, before sending the orphans to train, had been monitoring their progress. Therefore, Saori knew that ten of them had become Bronze Saints. And before the start of the Galaxian Wars, she had assigned their opponents randomly.
Ikki's designated opponent was Wolf Nachi.
"Ikki, don't think you're the only one who returned from hell. All Saints endure hellish training. So drop the act. You're not special," Nachi declared, his gaze fixed on Ikki.
"Hell? I'll show you what true hell is like," Ikki replied, his voice cold and flat.
"Be careful, Nachi!" Seiya and Shiryu called out, seeing the battle about to begin. They quickly carried the unconscious Jabu out of the ring, not wanting him to be caught in the crossfire.
Nachi nodded, sensing Ikki's power. He wouldn't underestimate such a dangerous opponent.
However—Ikki was far stronger than any of them.
He made good on his promise, showing Nachi a glimpse of hell. He simply…flicked his wrist.
Nachi's eyes glazed over.
He had been struck by Ikki's Phoenix Hōō Genmaken - Phoenix Illusion Demon Fist—a technique that targeted the opponent's mind, amplifying their deepest fears and insecurities, creating terrifying illusions.
The mental trauma manifested as physical pain, incapacitating the victim, or, in extreme cases, shattering their mind and soul completely—It was a form of telekinesis, a testament to Ikki's mastery of [Cosmo]—especially since most Bronze Saints focused primarily on physical combat.
The only other character known for such a powerful mental attack was Saga, the current Pope, whose Phantom Imperial Fist was capable of mind control. This highlighted Saga's immense power.
Nachi collapsed, motionless.
Ikki approached him and gently nudged him with his foot. Nachi's body fell to the ground. Another one-hit victory.
"..."
——
"H-how...?"
"Is that Ikki's power?"
"He barely moved, and Nachi's—defeated?" Seiya, Shiryu, and Hyoga stared in disbelief. Ikki's fighting style was completely different from theirs.
Seiya rushed into the ring and knelt beside the fallen Nachi.
"Nachi! Nachi!"
"There's no need to call out to him. His soul is gone," Ikki said dismissively, then turned and punched towards the private viewing box, shattering the glass and striking Tokumaru.
"Argh!" Tokumaru was sent flying backward, crashing into a wall.
"Tokumaru!" Saori cried out.
She was fond of her butler, who had cared for her since she was a child, especially after her grandfather's death. She couldn't help but feel concerned, seeing him injured.
Mika examined him quickly. "Don't worry, Saori. His injuries aren't life-threatening. Call for a medic."
Saori immediately contacted the medical team stationed at the arena.
After all, the Galaxian Wars was a fighting tournament; injuries were inevitable. Therefore—she had a team of experienced doctors on standby.
They arrived quickly and carried Tokumaru away.
Saori sighed in relief. "That settles things between him and Ikki, then." She had sensed the animosity between them, a consequence of Tokumaru's past actions.
And with Ikki's attack—their feud was seemingly over. After all, he hadn't killed Tokumaru. An average human couldn't withstand a Saint's attack, especially one fueled by Ikki's rage.
Therefore, Tokumaru's survival meant Ikki had shown—restraint.
She hadn't asked Mika to heal him. In her mind, Tokumaru's suffering might prevent Ikki from seeking further revenge. After all, against a Saint, he was helpless. A harsh lesson now might ensure his future safety.
"Perhaps," Mika replied with a subtle smile.
Saori glared at him. He had clearly been aware of her intentions and hadn't bothered intervening. How inconsiderate.
However, she didn't have time to dwell on it.
Having defeated Nachi and "punished" Tokumaru, Ikki turned his attention towards Seiya and the others. But both Seiya and Shiryu were injured, and Shun had just been defeated. Only Hyoga remained. But Ikki didn't consider him a true challenge. He felt a sense of…disappointment. Defeating them like this would be too easy.
Just then, several figures, clad in black versions of his own Cloth, emerged from the shadows. They were the Black Saints, warriors Ikki had brought from Death Queen Island.
"Mr. Ikki, leave these weaklings to us." They leaped from the stands, attacking Seiya, Shiryu, Hyoga, and Shun.
And while they were distracted, Ikki claimed the Gold Cloth.
——
"No! You can't take the Gold Cloth!" Saori cried out.
Mika smirked; women were truly natural actresses.
She knew he could retrieve the Cloth at any time, yet she still put on such a convincing performance. It was clearly for the benefit of the other Bronze Saints, whose anger ignited at Ikki's actions.
"It seems she has a plan…" He nodded and left the viewing box. With Saori joining the fray, it was time for him to make his move.
——
The Black Saints, having created a distraction, quickly retreated. Seiya and the others prepared to pursue them, unwilling to let Ikki escape with the Gold Cloth.
However, just as they were about to leave, they were stopped by Miho and Shunrei—Seiya and Shiryu's respective love interests. They had been at the hospital, tending to their injuries from their earlier duel. But upon returning to Seiya's room, they discovered he and Shiryu were gone.
They had followed them, worried about their well-being. Seeing Seiya's bandages and recalling Shiryu's near-death experience, they refused to let them fight, especially without their Cloths, which had been destroyed in their previous battle.
Just as Seiya and Shiryu were trying to figure out how to escape, a voice called out to them.
"They're right. You're in no condition to fight."
They turned and saw Mika.
"Mika!"
"Long time no see, Seiya."
