Chapter 611: Chapter 610: I Do
The morning sunlight streamed through the curtains, leaving dappled shadows in the bedroom. Gal Gadot awoke and reached out beside her, but there was no one there. She opened her eyes and looked around, realizing Murphy wasn't in the bedroom.
Pushing herself up, Gal Gadot shook her head to wake up, put on a robe, and walked into the bathroom.
"That guy..."
Brushing her teeth, Gal Gadot mumbled, "Going out to exercise without even asking me."
It was already late. They had gone wild the night before, and Gal Gadot still felt a bit weak. She decided to skip her morning workout, walked into the closet, and slowly walked through the spacious room, browsing the clothes hanging on the racks. She quickly chose a dark, form-fitting casual outfit.
She had planned to go shopping with Margot Robbie today, and such attire would also help evade paparazzi.
In the living room on the first floor of the villa, Murphy sat on the sofa, gently stroking the ring box. He had already changed out of his workout clothes and was now wearing a suit.
He picked up the water cup in front of him, took a sip, and then put it down on the coffee table, giving it a glance.
Murphy wouldn't put the ring in the water cup, knowing the precedent set by James Franco and Lily Collins.
In fact, he wasn't planning any special tricks.
Last night, when he got home, Murphy thought about taking out the ring while they were intimate, but then Gal Gadot suggested some playful activities, and they ended up so engrossed that he forgot about it.
So, Murphy planned to propose this morning.
The sound of high heels hitting the floor came from the stairs. Murphy looked up to see Gal Gadot walking down.
Seeing Murphy dressed in a suit, Gal Gadot assumed he had an urgent appointment. She asked as she walked, "Are you going out?"
Gal Gadot remembered that Bill Rossis had called on their way home last night, saying Netflix wanted to have a face-to-face meeting with Murphy.
"No rush." Murphy smiled and waved her over, "Honey, come here for a moment."
"What's up?"
Gal Gadot had been with Murphy since she was eighteen, nearly ten years now. She could tell something was up with Murphy.
Walking to the sofa, Gal Gadot sat on the single sofa next to Murphy, staring at him directly.
Murphy's left hand, holding the ring box, was placed away from Gal Gadot's sight. Feeling her intense gaze, Murphy unexpectedly felt a bit nervous and momentarily forgot his words...
"What's going on?" Gal Gadot frowned slightly.
What was happening? She couldn't understand why someone like Murphy, who wouldn't flinch if the world collapsed, was now showing signs of nervousness!
"Uh..." Murphy didn't know how to start.
At this moment, he realized that proposing wasn't as easy as it seemed.
No wonder James Franco put the ring in Lily Collins' cup, letting her discover it instead of saying it directly...
This thought suddenly popped into Murphy's mind.
But now wasn't the time for such thoughts. He shook his head slightly to clear his mind, looked at the curious Gal Gadot, and decided to improvise.
"Honey." Murphy adjusted himself, speaking with utmost seriousness and solemnity, "We've both traveled our paths separately... ahem..."
Maybe due to nerves, the saliva went down the wrong pipe, causing an untimely cough that interrupted Murphy.
But Gal Gadot's eyes gradually brightened, as if she realized something.
"Could it be... could it be..." A wave of nervousness washed over Gal Gadot, making her whole body tremble slightly. Her hands clenched into fists, "Is the moment I've been waiting for finally here?"
"Cough, cough..."
Murphy coughed a few times before returning to normal and continued, "Honey, we've both traveled our separate paths. Now it's time for us to walk together."
As he spoke, Murphy took out the ring box, opened it, and presented the ring to Gal Gadot, "Will you marry me?"
Seeing this unfold before her eyes, Gal Gadot was overwhelmed with emotion. Her eyes reddened, and she covered her mouth with her left hand, seemingly to stifle her sobs.
The lines he had prepared were all forgotten, but Murphy pressed on, "Gal, we've been together for almost ten years. We know each other well. I promise I won't make you bear a bunch of kids and wait for retirement. I guarantee you'll be free from those worries and never bored."
Murphy's words flowed more smoothly, "I want you to walk with me, create brilliance together, and enjoy every moment!"
Gal Gadot released her hand from her mouth, and tears of joy streamed down her cheeks.
"Will you marry me?" Murphy asked once more.
"I will!" Gal Gadot nodded vigorously, her voice choked with emotion, "I will! Murphy, I will walk with you to the end of our lives!"
Murphy took Gal Gadot's left hand, stood up, and slipped the ring onto her slender finger.
Gal Gadot tilted her head slightly, closed her eyes, and Murphy leaned down to kiss her on the lips. They kissed passionately, lost in the moment.
It took a long time for them to calm down.
"How long have you been planning this?" Gal Gadot asked, looking at Murphy, "I had no idea."
"Not long." Murphy held her hand and they sat down, "I've been preparing the ring since James Franco and Lily Collins got married."
He continued, "I planned to hold our engagement party on Thanksgiving."
"Better after Thanksgiving." Gal Gadot suggested, "Many of our friends have families now. Hosting it on Thanksgiving might inconvenience them. I think this weekend would be perfect."
Murphy nodded, "I didn't think of that. Saturday evening it is then."
Gal Gadot withdrew her right hand and caressed the ring on her left hand, "No need to invite too many people, right?"
"Yes, that's what I thought too." Murphy smiled, "Just our friends."
He had already spoken to Kara Faith about it and now needed to quickly inform Robert Downey Jr., James Franco, Jonah Hill, Seth Rogen, and his main work team members.
They sat on the sofa, chatting intimately as time flew by.
Suddenly, a phone ringing broke the intimate atmosphere. Gal Gadot smiled apologetically at Murphy, answered the call, and said, "Sorry, Maggie, I lost track of time."
Murphy glanced at the clock and remembered that Gal Gadot had planned to go shopping with Margot Robbie today. He said, "Honey, you should go. I need to head out too. The Netflix people are probably waiting for me at Death Star Tower."
"Alright, I'm off then."
Since the filming of "Diego Ross," Gal Gadot hadn't seen Margot Robbie. Now, having just accepted the proposal, she felt the urge to share the news with her best friend.
Gal Gadot drove off first. Murphy called the butler and gave instructions for the party preparations. He also called Grace to help arrange a professional service company for the engagement party.
Of course, a confidentiality agreement was essential.
Next, Murphy called his friends one by one to invite them. Their reactions varied.
"Oh my God, you're getting engaged?" Robert Downey Jr. laughed, "I thought you and Gal would just keep going like this."
"Gal is actually marrying you? Damn, she must be having an off day." Jonah Hill joked before seriously saying, "Congrats, Murphy. You've found a great girl!"
Compared to them, the married James Franco and newly coupled Seth Rogen offered sincere congratulations.
Murphy drove off, heading to Death Star Tower. Meanwhile, Gal Gadot arrived in Santa Monica, meeting Margot Robbie at a café.
At the first sight of Gal Gadot, Margot Robbie noticed the ring on her hand, "Did Murphy propose to you?"
"Yes." Gal Gadot pulled out a chair and sat opposite Margot Robbie, her face beaming with happiness, "Just this morning."
Margot Robbie's eyes widened, "And you said yes?"
Realizing the foolishness of her question, given the ring on Gal Gadot's hand, Margot Robbie asked, "How could you say yes?"
Gal Gadot looked puzzled, "Why wouldn't I?"
"Uh..." Margot Robbie paused, took a deep breath, and said, "I mean, how could you so easily agree to that guy?"
"Maggie, you know I've been waiting for this day." Gal Gadot stroked the ring on her left hand with her right, "In this world, he's the only one who truly understands me. He doesn't see me as a goddess or anything else. He knows I don't want to be worshipped or spoiled. He put this ring on my finger because he knows we'll walk through life together, enjoying its pleasures, sharing its burdens, and celebrating its joys."
"Darling, you've been enchanted by Murphy." Margot Robbie smiled and said, "Congratulations, Gal."
She stood up and pulled Gal Gadot along, "Come on, let's go shopping."
Meanwhile, Murphy arrived at Death Star Tower, where he met with representatives from Netflix in a meeting room.
