Chapter 10: A Monster’s Feast
A Titanic Terror
Keon's body trembled, his breath coming in ragged gasps as he stared at the massive monstrosity that had just attempted to devour him.
The Titanic Shark loomed beside the gaping hole in the ship's hull, its jagged teeth still glistening with seawater.
It was unlike any shark Keon had ever seen.
[Titanic Abyss Shark]
Type: Aquatic Beast (Apex Predator)
Size: 40 Meters
Abilities:
Abyssal Devourer → Capable of swallowing creatures whole, even ships.
Pressure King → Can create devastating shockwaves underwater.
Predator's Roar → Paralyzes prey with a terrifying sonic blast.
Weaknesses: ???
Keon's blood ran cold.
"Forty meters?! What kind of fantasy nightmare is this?!"
The beast's soulless black eyes fixated on him.
Then—
It lunged again.
Keon, still half-floating in shock, barely had time to react.
"I can't die, I can't die, I can't die—"
But that didn't stop the fear.
The primal terror.
Its jaws snapped shut—
And Keon vanished.
A Leap of Desperation
The system panel flashed before his eyes.
> [Rift Leap Activated]
Destination: ??????
Keon had no idea which option he picked.
He didn't care.
Because a second later—
The world lost its meaning.
Everything became—absent.
No light.
No sound.
No weight.
No air.
No time.
And then—
He was back.
But something was wrong.
A New Rift, A New Nightmare
Keon's feet hit solid ground.
For the first time, he didn't fall out of the rift—he stood as if he had just descended like a hero from the sky.
He barely had time to register this before he heard it—
A deafening ROAR above him.
Keon's head snapped up.
And there it was.
The Titanic Abyss Shark—
Flying through the air.
It had been dragged through the rift with him.
Keon barely had time to process what happened before the shark crashed downwards—
Into a gaping, endless pit.
A dark abyss, big enough to swallow the monstrous creature whole.
The Titanic Shark roared in confusion and terror, its massive body twisting and flailing as it disappeared into the darkness.
The echoes of its dying screams faded—
Then, silence.
Except for one thing.
A voice.
A voice Keon knew all too well.
A Familiar Nightmare
"Contractor… you have returned."
Keon froze.
A shiver ran down his spine.
A deep, demonic voice rumbled through the abyss.
A voice that reeked of death and power.
From the darkness below, two enormous crimson eyes flickered to life.
The air grew heavy.
Keon felt the very fabric of existence tremble under its gaze.
The Demonic Skeleton Dragon.
The Dungeon Lord.
The creature that had once tried to consume his soul.
It spoke again, voice thick with satisfaction.
"And you have brought me… a gift."
Keon's mind reeled.
"Oh, shit—"
The dragon's laughter shook the entire chamber.
"Such a magnificent beast soul… I am pleased with this meal."
It took a deep, bone-rattling breath.
"Far better than those humans I have been consuming."
Keon took a step back.
This was not good.
Not at all.
A Smile of Survival
Keon forced the most polite smile he could manage and bowed deeply, his posture as refined as a butler serving a king.
"At least I'm not constantly getting eaten now," he thought, keeping his tone respectful.
If there was one thing he learned in the past few days, it was that powerful beings had egos.
And right now, flattery was the best survival skill.
"I am honored that my offering pleases you, Lord of the Dungeon," Keon said smoothly, as if this had been his plan all along.
It wasn't.
Not even close.
But what mattered was that the Dungeon Lord believed it.
The massive skeletal dragon exhaled, releasing a dark mist as its crimson eyes gleamed in satisfaction.
"Hah… Contractor, you amuse me."
Keon wasn't sure if that was good or bad.
But at least the dragon wasn't trying to consume him this time—a step in the right direction.
The Dungeon Lord's Perspective
The Dungeon Lord observed Keon with ancient eyes, ones that had seen the rise and fall of countless beings.
At first, it had dismissed this strange human as nothing more than a pawn.
Yet, time and time again, Keon defied expectations.
His arrival had been unnatural.
His existence was a contradiction.
And now, he had delivered a beast of such quality that even the Dungeon Lord felt a sense of satisfaction it had not known for centuries.
This was not luck.
This was power.
Keon did not cower before him.
He did not beg for his life.
And despite his casual demeanor, there was an undeniable weight to his presence.
"This human... No, this being... He does not act like a mere mortal."
The Dungeon Lord's instincts whispered something dangerous.
Keon was not someone to be underestimated.
Not anymore.
A Glimpse of True Power
Keon glanced down into the abyss, where the Titanic Abyss Shark had disappeared.
There was nothing left.
No body.
No remains.
Just darkness.
That thing had been a 40-meter-long apex predator with insane abilities, and yet the Dungeon Lord had devoured it instantly.
"Did I just feed a goddamn sea kaiju to an even bigger monster?"
The sheer power on display sent a chill through Keon's core.
But instead of fear, something else crept into his thoughts.
What if I could be like that?
The Dungeon Lord's aura pulsed, shaking the walls of the dungeon as it spoke again.
"As a reward for your service, Contractor, I shall present you with a boon."
Keon's eyes widened.
"Did I just accidentally unlock some insane benefit?"
He wasn't going to complain.
The Dungeon Lord's voice rumbled with power, but this time, there was a strange undertone of caution.
"State your desire. I shall grant you an item of your choosing—so long as it does not contain my own abilities. The contract of equal terms must be followed."
Keon's Silent Victory
Keon felt it.
It was subtle, but it was there.
The Dungeon Lord was treating him differently.
Not as a pawn.
Not as a mere human.
But as an equal.
Even if the Dungeon Lord did not fully understand it yet, something inside it was acknowledging Keon's potential.
And Keon?
He was going to use that to his advantage.
What Does Keon Need?
Keon almost blurted out something ridiculous like:
"A sword that can cut reality!"
Or—
"An armor that makes me untouchable!"
But he forced himself to slow down.
This was a rare opportunity.
And he had to be smart about it.
Keon quickly analyzed his current situation:
He had the Rift Leap ability.
He had a growing understanding of the system.
He was immune to some physical attacks (but not all).
He lacked proper equipment.
He lacked knowledge about this world.
Most importantly—
He had no reliable way to fight.
The moment he was caught in a battle, he would be forced to run.
That wasn't going to work forever.
Keon took a deep breath, calming his thoughts.
"Alright. What I need isn't just some random overpowered weapon. I need something that gives me control over fights and survival."
He lowered his gaze, deep in thought.
This was a one-time chance.
And he couldn't afford to waste it.
